NFL Draft 2021: Alabama

Contact/Follow @ColFootballNews | @PeteFiutak

It’s really, really, really, really hard to get multiple players taken in the first round of an NFL Draft, much less three, or five, or six.

LSU had 14 players drafted last year – one at every non-kicking position including long snapper – and had five selected in the first round.

Ohio State had five players taken in the first round in 2016, and Oklahoma had four selected in the first of the 2010 draft.

The over/under on how many Alabama players would go in the first round last year was 5.5, and four – Tua Tagovailoa, Jedrick Wills, Henry Ruggs and Jerry Jeudy – were selected. It wasn’t all all that close on the over, with Xavier McKinney going with the fourth pick in the second, and the sixth Tide player – Trevon Diggs – not going until the 51st overall pick.

In other words, it’s almost impossible to get past 5.5 going in the first round no matter how good the team was the year before.

Alabama has never had more than four players taken in the first round, much less five, and this year, the oddsmaker types are setting the line at 5.5.

Even for a historically great 2020 Alabama team, good luck with that.

[lawrence-related id=434326]

Just like last year with the four that ended up being taken, Alabama has a few sure things to set a good base.

There’s no question that – in some order – QB Mac Jones, CB Patrick Surtain, WR DeVonta Smith and WR Jaylen Waddle will be selected in the first round. Now, work backwards.

OT Alex Leatherwood should be a relatively early pick, but it’ll take a bit of a shocker for him to go in the first, and the same goes for C Landon Dickerson, LB Dylan Moses and OG Deonte Brown. All of them will go after the top 32.

You still need two more to get past 5.5 Bama players selected.

Just like McKinney was the wild-card last year to get to five, Najee Harris is the one who could get Bama past four.

First, take another moment and realize the historic nature of even thinking this is possible – again, Alabama has never had five players selected in the first round.

Harris could absolutely go on Day One – he’s one of the 32 best players in this thing – but running back is so devalued now in the draft process, and Clemson’s Travis Etienne could be the first and only back off the board.

But let’s say it happens. Let’s say Harris is taken somewhere between the 23 to the Jets to the 32 with Tampa Bay. That’s still five, and you need six to go over, so …

How Many Alabama Players Will Be Drafted In the First Round?

Five.

I’ll call it that Harris makes it five Alabama players going in the first round, but even that’s a bit of a reach. So let’s say I’m right, then it comes down to …

DT Christian Barmore.

I think he’s easily the best defensive tackle in a weak draft for the position, and there’s certainly a chance that someone thinks there’s value in drafting him a wee bit early to take the best one off the board, but if it happens, it’ll come late.

And that’s where the sweating will come in.

Barmore is the exact right guy for Tampa Bay to take at the 32 to add more to the defensive interior, but the defending Super Bowl champion will have an abundance of great prospects to choose from.

So it comes down to this. Do you like Etienne to go before Harris? If so, assume under on the 5.5.

Do you believe in historical anomalies with Bama not only getting to five in the first round, but six?

The value might not be there on the under, but you’re asking for something wild to get the over. If it happens, tip your cap, and marvel in the greatness of the talent on that amazing 2020 team.

Prediction: Under

Who will be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft? The odds are out from BetMGM, and here’s our ranking from best values to worst.

Contact/Follow @ColFootballNews | @PeteFiutak

We already know who the No. 1 overall pick is going to be in the 2021 NFL Draft, right? Sure we do … just like we knew last year at this time that fifth-round prospect Joe Burrow was going to turn into the must-have top pick overall.

Just like we knew that a quarterback smaller than your sister would end up being the top overall selection in 2019. And before Kyler Murray went to Arizona, it’s not like anyone had any idea that Baker Mayfield would somehow by the top overall pick for Cleveland in 2018.

This is hardly the slam dunk you might think it is.

BetMGM is out with its initial lines for the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Here’s our ranking from the worst value on up to the best of the bunch.

One quick note before we start. The Field isn’t an option. If it was, that would be the No. 1 choice here. And why? Again, Burrow, Murray, and Mayfield.

Here are all of the 30 prospects listed with the lines to be the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

30. WR Rashod Bateman, Minnesota

The hype will be huge coming off a fantastic 2019, but just getting close to the first round in a deep class of of wide receivers would be strong enough. BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +10,000

29. WR Tylan Wallace, Oklahoma State

Wallace will be in for a huge season if he stays healthy. However, it’ll be a long shot to be the No. 1 receiver taken, much less the top overall draft pick. BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +10,000

28. CB Shaun Wade, Ohio State

He’s going to be among the next great Ohio State defensive backs, but great Ohio State defensive backs don’t go No. 1 overall.
BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +6600

[lawrence-related id=511163]

27. QB Brock Purdy, Iowa State

He is a quarterback, and he is going to throw for a ton of yards, but this isn’t the class to be just a quarterback who’s going to throw for a ton of yards. BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +10,000

26. LB Micah Parsons, Penn State

I like his NFL game a lot more than most, but it would require something unreal for him to get into shouting distance of the top pick. At +2000, it’s not worth it as a flier.
BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +2000

25. RB Kylin Hill, Mississippi State

Not only is a running back for an okay team in the SEC West not going to get the yards, he’s really not going to get the yards in the Mike Leach offense. The position it too devalued. It is +20,000, but … nah.
BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +20,000

24. WR Jaylen Waddle, Alabama

It’s hard enough for a wide receiver to be a top pick, much less one who’ll have to share the wealth with so many other talented stars on his own team. Waddle is special, but notice how many other Alabama guys are on this list.
BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +5000

23. OT Jalen Mayfield, Michigan

A rising star prospect who should work his way into the first round, there’s going to be too much traffic at the position – forgetting about the quarterback talents – to earn the top pick.
BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +10,000

22. WR Ja’Marr Chase, LSU

His game will be more than fantastic for the NFL, but he’s not exactly the prototype wideout. We’re talking about the No. 1 overall pick in a draft with phenomenal quarterback prospects – +5000 isn’t enough to get interested. BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +5000

21. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, USC

The next-level talent is there for an offense that’s going to put up insane passing numbers, But he’s still a wide receiver.
BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +10,000

20. WR DeVonta Smith, Alabama

The +5000 value isn’t enough to bite. A wide receiver isn’t going first, but Smith might play his way into a top 15 pick.
BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +5000

19. WR Justyn Ross, Clemson

As outstanding as he is, and as good as the +10,000 might look, he doesn’t have No. 1 overall pick talent. He’ll likely go around the 20.
BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +10,000

18. WR Rondale Moore, Purdue

The blazing speed and all-around playmaking ability could make him the first receiver off the board – think Henry Ruggs – but even at +10,000, don’t worry about him at the top spot.
BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +10,000

17. CB Patrick Surtain, Alabama

All the NFL tools are there, but if Jeff Okudah couldn’t get higher than the No. 3 pick … it’s not going to happen for a corner in this draft.
BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +5000

16. RB Chuba Hubbard, Oklahoma State

Get ready for a theme here. There’s just no value at running back anymore. Even if there is – and Hubbard should be a great pro – it’s asking for way too much to make Hubbard No. 1 overall.
BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +8000

15. RB Travis Etienne, Clemson

+4000 isn’t enough to get excited about him as the No. 1 overall guy. He’ll have a fantastic season, and the speed is serious, but it’s a position problem – ask D’Andre Swift and Jonathan Taylor about the value of being a great running back.
BetMGM 2021 NFL Draft 1st Overall Pick Odds: +4000

And the ten 2020 NFL Draft prop bets that appear to be a wee bit favorable on Day Two in terms of three things, 1) value, 2) value and 3) value are …

All lines come from BetMGM.

10. Position of  LA Rams First Drafted Player

BetMGM latest line: Offense -110, Defense -110
PICK
: Offense

They need to load up with more help on the defensive line, and the back seven needs a boost, but they they have the 57th and 84th picks after the first selection at the 52. One of the star running backs – Jonathan Taylor, D’Andre Swift, JK Dobbins – will drop down to middle of the second round, but all you need is to hit the offensive side.

9. Who’ll Be Drafted Earlier, D’Andre Swift or Jonathan Taylor

BetMGM latest line: Swift -334, Taylor +250
PICK
: Jonathan Taylor

This is such a wacky draft for running backs – LSU’s Clyde Edwards-Helaire was the only one to go in the first round, and he went with the last pick – that it’s all depending on needs. Swift might be considered the No. 1 running back on the board, but Taylor is more of the workhorse. This is strictly a value play for Taylor with the +250.

[lawrence-related id=511273]

8. Position of Houston Texans First Drafted Player

BetMGM latest line: Offense +125, Defense -152
PICK
: Offense

The Texans don’t have a whole lot of early picks and has to make the most of whatever is there at the 40. Yes, they need to deal with the defensive line first – and that’s where the value should be – but some good running backs will be available and a slew of decent offensive linemen will be hanging around. They’ll likely go D, but the value is on the O.

7. Position of Buffalo Bills First Drafted Player

BetMGM latest line: Offense +125, Defense -152
PICK
: Offense

Of course mock drafts are mostly guesses no matter what, but this is really a shot in the dark. The problem is that Buffalo doesn’t really need anything except an upgrade talent level across the board – it can go best player available. It’ll likely work on its defensive line with its first pick in the draft at the 54 overall, but the value is for the pick on offense.

[lawrence-related id=511339]

6. Position of Indianapolis Colts First Drafted Player

BetMGM latest line: Offense -176, Defense +145
PICK
: Defense

The Colts can get their needs met for more receiving help when they draft again at the 44. The value is on the defensive side at the 34, and they need to help the secondary. The cornerbacks are deep, Alabama S Xavier McKinney and TCU DT Ross Blacklock have to go somewhere in the first five picks in the second round, and the value is there on the defense.

NFL Draft 2020: SEC

It’s borderline obnoxious, but hardly unexpected.

As much as fans of other college football conferences might want to argue and complain, yeah, the SEC is usually just better.

And why? This isn’t hard. The league has better players than everyone else.

The SEC has owned the recruiting rankings by 85 miles ever since the beginning of the internet, and it comes across year after year in the NFL Draft.

CFN in 60: 2020 Top Five Overall Prospects
[jwplayer 4pb0NsqJ-boEY74VG]

Last year, nine SEC players were selected in the first round. Granted it was still 28% of the first 32 picks, but it was still a tad light for the league that handed over ten of its finest players in the 2018 first round, and 12 in 2017.

But is it even possible to for a conference to own half of a first round by accounting for 16 picks?

11 SEC players were selected in 2014 first round, 12 got the call in 2013, and let’s just cheat a little bit and give a little boost to the league in 2011, considering Missouri and Texas A&M were making the move from the Big 12 to the SEC. With the newcomers added, the current SEC programs accounted for the first seven picks of the 2011 NFL Draft and 13 of the first 32.

It took a big bend of the criteria and the SEC still wasn’t even close to getting up to 16 first round picks.

By the way, the BetMGM line for total SEC players drafted in the first round is set at a ridiculous 15.5.

Is it even possible? Helped by Alabama and LSU, yeah.

LSU QB Joe Burrow, Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa, Bama receivers Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs, fellow Tide star OT Jedrick Wills, Auburn DT Derrick Brown, Florida CB CJ Henderson, Georgia OT Andrew Thomas, LSU edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson. That gets you to nine.

South Carolina DT Javon Kinlaw will go in the first round, as will LSU LB Patrick Queen. That’s 11, and a long, long, long way to go to get to 16 and the over.

There are others like LSU WR Justin Jefferson and Alabama S Xavier McKinney, who both have a shot of going in the top 32. There’s a chance RB D’Andre Swift and OT Isaiah Wilson from Georgia are both going early, and DE Terrell Lewis and CB Trevon Diggs from Alabama also could get the Day One call.

It’s not entirely insane to make a call that more than half of your 2020 NFL Draft first round will be made up of SEC players.

Let’s try this a different way.

[lawrence-related id=434326]

How Many SEC Players Will Be Drafted In the First Round?

How many players outside of the SEC are guaranteed to go in the first round?

Rapid-fire – Chase Young, Jeff Okudah, Isaiah Simmons, Justin Herbert, Tristan Wirfs, Mekhi Becton, CeeDee Lamb, Kenneth Murray, Jordan Love, AJ Terrell. That’s ten, and then it’s all hit-or-miss from a pool of around 15 players who could slide into the top 32.

But SEC players are in that same bucket of first round tweeners.

How crazy do you want to get? Is this really going to be one of the most historic drafts ever in a chest-puffing moment for the It Just Means More league?

Yeah. There are more than enough SEC players to get to 16, and that’s where the value is – minimal as it is.

NFL Draft 2020: Big 12

Outside of Oklahoma taking over the No. 1 overall pick lately, it’s been a lonely time for the Big 12 in the first round of the NFL Draft.

After Kyler Murray went to Arizona to kick things off last year, the next Big 12 pick was fellow Sooner Marquise Brown to Baltimore at the 25. TCU LJ Collier went to Seattle at the 29.

The year before, Baker Mayfield was selected first by Cleveland, and then … nothing. The Big 12 was shutout in the rest of the round. In 2017, that Patrick Mahomes guy turned out to be okay for Kansas City at the 10, but that was it.

This year the line is 3.5. It’s going to take some effort to get there.

CFN in 60: 2020 Top Five Overall Prospects
[jwplayer 4pb0NsqJ-boEY74VG]

Part of the problem is that it’s going to take a little while to get this thing going.

Jalen Hurts won’t go first overall like the last two Oklahoma quarterbacks, and he’s not likely to be picked at all in the first round. However, his top target last year will go in the top 15.

WR CeeDee Lamb is a possible top ten overall pick, but he’ll likely go in the 12-to-15 range. But that just one Big 12 player and half the draft will probably be over before there’s another one taken.

Sooner LB Kenneth Murray will go somewhere in the top 25, and then it starts to get interesting.

TCU DT Ross Blacklock should go somewhere in the final 5-to-7 picks, but that’s getting a bit risky. It’s a deep class with at least 40 players who could end up finding their way into the top 32.

And you still need one more for the over.

Texas Tech LB Jordan Brooks is a possibility, but that’s a flier. Oklahoma DT Neville Gallimore will be on the radar, as will Baylor WR Denzel Mims and TCU CB Jeff Gladney.

That’s why …

[lawrence-related id=510897]

How Many Big 12 Players Will Be Drafted In the First Round?

Go with the over on the 3.5.

Lamb, Murray and Blacklock will go in the top 32, and there are more than enough options who’ll at least be on the radar late.

All it takes is one team to like Mims’ combination of speed and size, Gladney’s ball skills, or Gallimore’s athleticism for the position. Brooks is a little more of a long shot, but he’s at least in the mix.

Best of all, there isn’t much value in the under, and the over is the better call.

NFL Draft 2020: Big Ten

The Big Ten is always able to carry its share of the load in the first rounds of NFL Drafts, but the bulk usually depends on what Ohio State is bringing.

Six Big Ten players went in the first round last year, but just four were taken in 2018. Seven were selected on Day One in 2017, but the first Big Tener wasn’t picked until the 11.

Six were picked in 2016, but five of them were Buckeyes. Ohio State brought back a ton of talent the year before and didn’t send anyone to the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and it showed with just three Big Ten players being selected.

Two Ohio State players might go in the first three picks this year.

CFN in 60: 2020 Top Five Overall Prospects
[jwplayer 4pb0NsqJ-boEY74VG]

The BetMGM line for the total Big Ten players drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft is 5.5 – a solid number that keeps in line with what the conference normally does.

Unless something crazy happens. Ohio State DE Chase Young and CB Jeff Okudah will go at the 2-3 to Washington and Detroit, respectively.

Expect something crazy to happen – someone is going to trade up into the top three to grab a quarterback – but it doesn’t matter. Of course Young and Okudah are first rounders

Iowa OT Tristan Wirfs is a possible top ten overall pick, and then it might be a while before the Big Ten gets back on the board.

And then it gets really, really dicey.

If the line is 5.5, and you’re looking for six players to get drafted, you need the Big Ten to bring whole lot of funk – and surprises – to the back-half of the first round.

Iowa DE AJ Epenesa is a top ten talent who’ll drop, but he’s almost certain to go in the first round. The same goes for Penn State pass rushing star Yetur Gross-Matos to get it to five. After that, how much do you believe in the Badgers?

Wisconsin LB Zach Baun seemed like a sure-thing to go in the 20s, but a wonky urine test at the combine might have pushed him down a bit. He’s still a strong option, though, as is RB Jonathan Taylor to just about anyone over the last seven first round picks.

Could Michigan edge rusher Josh Uche or center/guard Cesar Ruiz slip into the top 32? Is there an outside shot that Ohio State RB JK Dobbins can be a late first-rounder?

There are options, but …

[lawrence-related id=510902]

How Many Big Ten Players Will Be Drafted In the First Round?

There isn’t enough value on the under to go wild, but it might just be the right call.

Again, Young, Okudah, Wirfs, Epenesa and Gross-Matos are almost-certain locks to go in the first round. Dobbins, Uche and Ruiz are second rounders, and Baun is going to drop a bit. If he doesn’t, then there you go – you’ve got the over.

It’s going to come down to Taylor.

There’s a big question about whether or not any running backs will go at all in the first round, but Georgia’s D’Andre Swift will likely go somewhere in the late 20s.

Taylor is a top 15 overall talent, but value-wise he might fall to around the 40s.

You’ll have to be holding your breath for the last 90 minutes of the first round, but go with the slightly better value with the under.

NFL Draft 2020: ACC

The ACC and the NFL Draft haven’t had a great relationship over the last several years when it comes to sending bulk talent to the next level, but it has been fantastic in the first round.

Clemson has done its part, and Florida State has been a decent feeder from time to time, but last year it was Duke’s Daniel Jones who made the most noise at the sixth overall pick. In all, seven ACC players were selected on Day One last year, and just three of them were from Clemson.

Six were selected early in 2018 – highlighted by Lamar Jackson being picked at the 32 by Baltimore – and four went in the first round in 2017.

The league has done okay to showcase itself, but this year should be a bit of an issue.

[jwplayer 4pb0NsqJ-boEY74VG]

The line for the total ACC players drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft is just 3.5.

The last time the ACC had fewer than four players selected early was 2003, but that was the last year Miami was in the Big East. If you want to count all the current ACC programs, it’s been a long, long time since there weren’t been four players picked in the first.

This year, start with the obvious. Clemson LB Isaiah Simmons will likely go in the top five – top ten, at worst – and Louisville’s Mekhi Becton will be one of the first offensive tackles off the board.

And then it all dries up in a huge hurry.

Can Clemson CB AJ Terrell find his way in? That’s not a given.

Will Tiger WR Tee Higgins make it into the first round? Ehhhhhh, it’s possible, but hardly a sure thing. Terrell has a better shot than Higgins.

So set the bar at three. Outside of Higgins, there isn’t another ACC player who’ll likely be sniffing the top 32. Florida State RB Cam Akers and Virginia CB Bryce Hall are some of the only other ACC players who’ll be in the mix for the second round, much less the first.

So …

How Many ACC Players Will Be Drafted In the First Round?

It’s going to be a historically weak first round for the ACC.

With Miami not holding up its end of the bargain, and with Florida State a bit down in the NFL talent department, it’s up to Clemson to send its superstars to the next level, but the tsunami is coming in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Do you feel like sticking with the side of history and go with the hope that Higgins is a first rounder? He’s got top 32 talent, and it’s not a crazy call. Best of all, the over is where all the value is. The ACC will definitely get three players drafted in the first round, but …

That’s it. Expect the under on the 3.5.

NFL Draft 2020: Oklahoma

Has it really been more than ten years since Oklahoma owned the first round of the NFL Draft?

In 2010, QB Sam Bradford went No. 1 overall to the St. Louis Rams. DT Gerald McCoy went No. 3 to Tampa Bay, OT Trent Williams went fourth to Washington, and TE Jermaine Gresham was taken 21st by Cincinnati.

After that, though, OT Lane Johnson to Philadelphia in 2013 was the only Sooner to be selected in the first from 2011 to 2017.

And then Oklahoma gave the NFL Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray.

CFN in 60: 2020 Top Five Overall Prospects
[jwplayer 4pb0NsqJ-boEY74VG]

For such a powerhouse of a program, 2019 – WR Marquise Brown went to Baltimore with the 25th pick – was the last time since that 2010 run when OU   had two players selected in the first round.

The line is set at 2.5.

In the long and glorious history of Oklahoma football, it’s had two players taken in the first round several times, but 2010 was the only time it had more.

To win on the over, you’re asking for the second-best Oklahoma first round ever.

It’ll be a mild upset if any OU player is selected in the top ten, but WR CeeDee Lamb should be close. He’s one guaranteed first rounder, and LB Kenneth Murray should be a lock somewhere around the 20s.

And then there’s …. uhhhhhhh ….

Can Jalen Hurts possibly be a late first round flier? That’s a major stretch – he’ll be a third rounder.

Your only realistic hope for the over is for DT Neville Gallimore to find his way into the low 30s – and it’s possible. He’s a rising prospect in the process who should be taken early on Day Two, but it’s not all that far from around the 38 to 31st or 32nd.

[lawrence-related id=510995]

How Many Oklahoma Players Will Be Drafted In the First Round?

Part of the problem is that Oklahoma just doesn’t have a whole lot of draftable options. Lamb, Murray, Gallimore and Hurts are the only Sooners likely to be selected.

That means to get the over, you 1) need three of the four viable prospects to be picked in the top 32, and 2) you’re asking the gods for history to be made.

That +310 on the over is just so enticing – really, Hurts or Gallimore can’t get in there? – but don’t do it.

It’s no fun, but expect only two Sooners to go on Day One.

NFL Draft 2020: Ohio State

Ohio State is really, really good at the whole sending-players-to-the-NFL thing.

The program has had 12 players taken in the first round and 35 players total in the last four years alone. At least ten Buckeyes should be selected this season, and a whole slew of them should go in the top 100.

But how many will be picked in the first round this year?

Nick Bosa and Dwayne Haskins went in the top 15 last season, two Buckeyes were taken in the first round in 2018, three were selected on Day One in 2017, and a whopping five were taken early in 2016 – and that was before Michael Thomas was picked in the second round.

At least two Ohio State players have been picked in the first round in five of the last six drafts.

The over/under line this year on how many Buckeyes will go in Round 1 is 2.5. Considering two Ohio State players should go in the top three, this seems like it should be an easy over.

It isn’t.

[jwplayer 4pb0NsqJ-boEY74VG]

Of course, edge rushing superstar Chase Young will be gone right away, likely at the No. 2. If CB Jeff Okudah doesn’t go third to Detroit, he’s almost certainly not slipping out of the top five.

There’s two. Where’s the third guy?

There isn’t one, but there are a whole lot of Buckeyes who have the upside to go early in the second round. All you might need is one of them to slip into the top 32.

[lawrence-related id=510995]

How Many Ohio State Players Will Be Drafted In the First Round?

It’ll be a long, long, LONG night if you take the under on the 2.5.

Young and Okudah will be gone before you get settled in, and then …

Crickets.

Could RB JK Dobbins slip into the top 32? It’s not crazy, but it’s unlikely. Expect him to go in the 40s.

Could LB Malik Harrison, DT DaVon Hamilton, CB Damon Arnette and/or S Jordan Fuller be a flier by someone in the first? None of them are likely to go in the second.

There’s absolutely no value or fun whatsoever in the under, but that’s what it’s going to be.

If you want to have fun, go over and root for JK All Day to become JK Thursday.

Sorry.

NFL Draft 2020: Georgia

Georgia can boast a first round pick in five of the last seven seasons, but 2018 was the recent big run with three going on Day One – Roquan Smith, Isaiah Wynn and Sony Michel – and Nick Chubb being selected with the 35th overall pick.

That was a bit of an aberration.

The Bulldogs have no problems getting players drafted, but considering all the elite recruiting classes Kirby Smart has brought in, the high-end NFL talent is a bit light.

Just ten Bulldogs have been selected in the first two rounds of the last ten drafts. By comparison, Alabama has had 15 go in just the last three drafts.

This should be a terrific draft for Georgia with about ten players expected to be taken, but there won’t be too many going on Thursday.

[jwplayer 4pb0NsqJ-boEY74VG]

The line on first round draft picks coming from Georgia is a paltry 1.5 – and there’s no value in it at -182.

OT Andrew Thomas is the sure-thing to go in the first, and possibly the top ten, but if you want that over you’re going to have to sweat it out in a big, big way.

There’s a shot that no running backs are selected in the first round, and that includes D’Andre Swift. There’s a possibility that run-blocking blaster Isaiah Wilson could slip into the last few picks on Thursday, but …

How Many Georgia Players Will Be Drafted In the First Round?

This is one of the more fun calls of the bunch if you don’t like the running backs.

Just how much do you believe in Swift going in the first round? If you think he’s going to slide, then there’s nice value in going with the under – but not enough to go crazy considering you have to freak out about Wilson going between 30-to-32.

Since there are two possible options to slide into the late parts of the first round, the over is the call.

But the world will respect and love you more for taking the shot at the under.
