First look: Denver Broncos at Pittsburgh Steelers odds and lines

Looking at Sunday’s Denver Broncos at Pittsburgh Steelers Week 5 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

Following a two-game homestand and fresh off their first loss, the Denver Broncos (3-1) return to the road in Week 5 to visit the slumping Pittsburgh Steelers (1-3). Below, we look at the Broncos vs. Steelers odds and lines; check back for our NFL picks and predictions.

The Broncos had fattened up on their creampuff opening three-game slate, beating the New York Giants and Jets, and Jacksonville Jaguars each by double digits, but they were bullied back to reality Sunday as Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson had the third-best passing yardage day (316) of his career and the Ravens’ blitzing defense bagged five sacks.

Even more concerning was the team’s continuing rash of injuries as QB Teddy Bridgewater was knocked out on the final play of the first half with a concussion and didn’t return, joining nine other Denver starters that have now missed time this season. Bridgewater’s status for Sunday figures to be in question much of the week, and backup Drew Lock could be called on for his first start of the season.

The Steelers, meanwhile, fell 27-17 to the host Green Bay Packers as QB Aaron Rodgers threw for a pair of TDs and ran for another in handing Pittsburgh its third straight setback following a season-opening 23-16 upset win over the Buffalo Bills. QB Ben Roethlisberger threw for a TD and rookie RB Najee Harris ran for another, but the Steelers still rank near the bottom of the league in scoring (16.8 points per game, including a Week 1 special-teams TD) and rushing (55.3 yards per outing).

Broncos vs. Steelers head-to-head

The Broncos lead the all-time series 20-12-1, including a 7-7 record in Pittsburgh and a 5-3 advantage in the postseason.

This is the second straight season the AFC foes will meet in an early-season game in the Steel City. A year ago in Week 2, the Steelers repelled a late Broncos drive for a 26-21 win but failed to cover as 6-point home favorites — even after Lock was knocked out of the game early with a shoulder injury.

Since Pittsburgh’s 34-17 road win in the 2005 AFC Championship Game, the Broncos have won six of the nine meetings straight up and ATS. Six of the nine contests also went Over the projected point total.

Looking at Sunday’s Miami Dolphins at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 5 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The Miami Dolphins (1-3) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) meet for a Week 5 intrastate contest 1 p.m. ET Sunday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Below, we look at the Dolphins vs. Buccaneers odds and lines; check back for our NFL picks and predictions.

The Titans suffered a 27-24 road defeat in overtime to the New York Jets in Week 4. Tennessee was without WRs Julio Jones and A.J. Brown due to hamstring injuries, which left RB Jeremy McNichols to lead the team with 74 receiving yards on 8 receptions from 12 targets. Both wide receivers are likely to be questionable heading into the Week 5 matchup.

RB Derrick Henry compiled 157 rushing yards and a touchdown on 33 carries. However, the offensive line was unable to keep QB Ryan Tannehill upright as he was sacked 7 times for 45 yards.

The Jaguars suffered a road loss, 24-21, to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football in Week 4. Jacksonville led 14-0 after the first half but was unable to find its footing in the second half and scored just one touchdown over the final 30 minutes.

First overall draft pick QB Trevor Lawrence was held to just 204 yards with 0 passing touchdowns or interceptions on 17-for-24 passing. Lawrence has suffered as many losses through four weeks of an NFL career as he did through the entirety of high school and college combined.

Jacksonville lost starting WR D.J. Chark to a broken left ankle on the fourth play of the game. WR Laviska Shenault paced the team with 7 targets for 99 yards on 6 receptions, while RB James Robinson added 78 yards and 2 touchdowns on 18 carries.
