It’s not a finished product yet, but the Kansas City Chiefs offense made strides in the win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Honing in on playmakers such as Isiah Pacheco, Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice was a recipe for success and should be the general focal point of the offense moving forward.

The Kansas City Chiefs got back into the win column on Sunday with a 31-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Kansas City’s offense eclipsed the 30-point mark for just the third time this season and put up points in the second half for the first time in three games. Running back Isiah Pacheco was the workhorse, carrying the ball 15 times and adding another five catches while finding the endzone twice.

The Chiefs’ defense got off to a surprisingly sluggish start, allowing touchdown drives on two of Las Vegas’ first three possessions. It would settle in, however, allowing just a lone field goal the rest of the way. The K.C. defense has held its opponents under 20 points six times this season.

Not much changed for the Kansas City Chiefs offense after the bye week. Penalties, turnovers, and dropped passes continued to persist for the unit, but coaches and players still believe the issues are fixable.

Maybe they are, but with it being so late in the season it is also possible that this is what K.C. is on offense. Time will tell if Andy Reid and company can work some magic and get back on the right track.

There has been a cloud of mystery surrounding Kadarius Toney dating all the way back to the offseason. Questions of whether he can stay healthy and produce like a true No. 1 wide receiver have been legitimate concerns.

After a disastrous Week 1, Toney’s usage has been sparingly at best. Taking it easy with him is probably best for now, but eventually, the Chiefs will need him to step up and be a significant playmaker if they’re going to improve offensively and make another championship run.

While the Chiefs were enjoying the week off, things fell into place very nicely for them on Sunday. The Baltimore Ravens, who have been hot on K.C.’s heels, lost to the Cleveland Browns and fell to 7-3 on the season.

The Chiefs currently have the tiebreaker over Baltimore because they have fewer conference losses. Other AFC foes such as the Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Los Angeles Chargers also lost on Sunday. The Chiefs will control their own destiny for the final eight weeks of the season.

It’s safe to say that second-year cornerback Trent McDuffie is now among the elite at his position. He has become perhaps the most important player on the Kansas City Chiefs’ defense and will be a vital part of the team’s success for the foreseeable future.

A ranking from Pro Football Focus shows that rookie receiver Rashee Rice needs a big boost in targets, and Patrick Mahomes is still racking up passing yards despite being perceived as having a down year.

What’s happening in Chiefs Kingdom?

The Kansas City Chiefs are entering their bye week with a full head of steam and will look to maintain the momentum they’ve built ahead of their next game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Arrowhead Stadium.

Currently, the Chiefs sit atop ESPN’s football power index rankings as the NFL’s top team, and linebacker Willie Gay Jr. graded out as the third-best defender in the league in Week 9. Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin recognized Kansas City’s dominance and gave the Chiefs their flowers on “Undisputed” earlier this week.
