New York Islanders at Carolina Hurricanes Game 5 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s New York Islanders at Carolina Hurricanes Game 5 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Islanders and the Carolina Hurricanes meet Tuesday for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, as the series shifts back to Raleigh. Puck drop from PNC Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN).  Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Islanders vs. Hurricanes odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Carolina leads the series 3-1.

The Hurricanes were finally able to end the league’s longest active road playoff losing streak, dominating the Islanders in Game 4 by a 5-2 count.

The Islanders are now on the brink of elimination, and New York has its play in the 1st 2 periods to blame. It hasn’t scored a 1st-period goal in any of the 4 games, and it has 5 total goals in the 2nd period in this series. In the last 3 games, the Isles have tallied 7 goals in the 3rd period.

The Canes struggled on the power play during the regular season, but Carolina had 2 goals on the man advantage in Game 4, going 2-for-5, and it is 5-for-19 (26.3%) on the power play in this series. That’s well above the 19.8% mark from the regular season, which was good for 20th in the NHL, according to covers.com.

Carolina was 2nd on the kill in the regular season at 84.4%, and New York is just 1-for-12 (8.3%) in this series on the power play, so the Hurricanes continue to put up a brick wall on defense in shorthanded situations.

Islanders at Hurricanes projected goalies

Ilya Sorokin (31-22-7, 2.34 GAA, .924 SV%, 6 SO – regular season) vs. Antti Raanta (19-3-3, 2.23 GAA, .910 SV%, 4 SO – regular season)

Sorokin coughed up 5 goals on 29 shots in Game 5, with his team putting him behind the 8-ball with several shorthanded situations early on. The Hurricanes cashed in, as Seth Jarvis and Martin Necas beat him on the power play for the first 2 scores. Really, only 1 of the 5 goals he allowed could be considered a ‘bad’ goal.

Raanta has carried over the momentum from his strong regular season showing, making coach Rod Brind’Amour look smart. Some fans raised eyebrows when Raanta was picked over veteran Frederik Andersen to start Game 1, but the decision looks brilliant now.

The 33-year-old Finn has a 3-1-0 record, 2.46 GAA and .915 SV% in 4 starts in this series, and his Game 4 win was the 1st of his career on the road in the postseason.

Islanders at Hurricanes picks and predictions

Prediction

Hurricanes 3, Islanders 2

Moneyline

The HURRICANES (-165) are moderate favorites in this close-out game, but don’t expect the Islanders (+140) to go quietly into the night. They’ll fight, grasp and claw all the way until the final whistle, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see this game need overtime before a winner is decided.

New York has its back to the wall, so expect it to throw everything and the kitchen sink at Carolina. It won’t matter, though. Carolina has won 9 out of the last 10 games at home in the playoffs, and the crowd will give it the extra boost it needs to force New York to the handshake line in this elimination game.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Islanders +1.5 (-190) are just a little bit over my personal limit of -180 for a standalone wager. If you need insurance, it isn’t worth risking nearly 2 times your potential return. Just play New York straight up for a better value. I think it’s going to be close, but there is no value playing the Isles on the puck line.

AVOID.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-140) is the play, although it will certainly cost you.

While the Over has cashed in each of the last 3 in the series, and the books have inched the total up slightly from a flat 5 to 5.5, go low.

This is an elimination game, so Carolina isn’t likely to go all-out on the offensive end, which could lead to turnovers and odd-man rushes to give New York hope. And the Isles are likely to be a little more conservative, too, as it doesn’t want to bury themselves early.

Toss in the fact the Carolina PK has been on fire, and New York cannot get anything done with the man advantage, and low is the way to go.

Carolina Hurricanes at New York Islanders Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Carolina Hurricanes at New York Islanders Game 4 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Carolina Hurricanes meet the New York Islanders on Sunday for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. Puck drop from UBS Arena in Elmont, N.Y., is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (TNT).  Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Hurricanes vs. Islanders odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Carolina leads the series 2-1.

The Hurricanes were tied 1-1 after 40 minutes in Game 3, as they looked to snap an ugly playoff road losing streak. However, the dam broke in the 3rd period, much to the dismay of Under bettors, and Carolina dropped its 8th straight road playoff game in a 5-1 loss.

Carolina’s last win on the road in the postseason game June 5, 2021, in Tampa, and it’s last road victory in regulation was Aug. 13, 2020, in the Bubble in Toronto. If you don’t count that, the last true road win in the playoffs for Carolina was April 28, 2019, against the Islanders in Game 2 of the 2nd round.

The Islanders saw Kyle Palmieri strike on the power play with 3:51 remaining in regulation, making it 2-1. Under (5.5) bettors were still feeling good, but then Matt Martin scored at 16:53, Scott Mayfield hit an empty-net goal at 18:11, and Anders Lee followed with a goal at 18:27, leaving Under bettors shaking their collective heads.

Hurricanes at Islanders Game 4 projected goalies

Antti Raanta (19-3-3, 2.23 GAA, .910 SV%, 4 SO – regular season) vs. Ilya Sorokin (31-22-7, 2.34 GAA, .924 SV%, 6 SO – regular season) vs.

Raanta deserved a much better fate in Game 3. He was charged with 4 goals on 36 shots, but he played well for 55-56 minutes, really. The Canes provided him with little offensive support, and left him high and dry defensively late in the 3rd period.

Sorokin grabbed his 1st playoff win of the season, kicking aside 30 of the 31 shots he has faced. The Mezhdurechensk, Russia, native is having a solid postseason, going 1-2-0 with a 2.29 GAA and .942 SV% through 3 games.

Hurricanes at Islanders Game 4 picks and predictions

Prediction

Islanders 3, Hurricanes 2

Moneyline

The ISLANDERS (-125) are the safe play, as the Hurricanes (+105) simply cannot be trusted on the road in the playoffs. Continue to fade Carolina until it can finally get over the hump and snap the NHL’s longest active postseason road losing streak.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Hurricanes +1.5 (-275) are way too expensive if you like Carolina to keep it close in a low-scoring game, but can’t pick it straight up. Laying nearly 3 times your potential return is not a recommended long-term betting strategy.

AVOID.

Over/Under

I believe we’re going to have another low-scoring battle, and the Over/Under 5 should fall right on the number.

If I had a lean, I’d go super lightly on the Under. We’ve seen tremendous goaltending and defense in this series, and the penalty kill for both teams has been outstanding.

PASS.

Carolina Hurricanes at New York Islanders Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Carolina Hurricanes at New York Islanders Game 3 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Carolina Hurricanes hit the road to face the New York Islanders Friday in Game 3 of their 1st-round series at UBS Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (TBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Hurricanes vs. Islanders odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Series: Hurricanes lead 2-0

Carolina survived a Game 2 scare with a 4-3 win in overtime. RW Jesper Fast ended it just over 5 minutes into the extra frame. The win came at a cost, though, as LW Teuvo Teravainen suffered a broken hand and is out for the rest of the series. The team was already without All-Star RW Andrei Svechnikov, who was lost to knee surgery last month.

The Isles took a 3-2 lead midway through the 3rd period but couldn’t contain the Canes. The series shifts to Long Island, where the Islanders were 25-13-3 during the regular season. The Hurricanes have won the last 5 meetings, though.

Hurricanes at Islanders projected goalies

Frederik Andersen (21-11-1, 2.48 GAA, .903 SV%, 1 SO – regular season) vs. Ilya Sorokin (31-22-7, 2.34 GAA, .924 SV%, 6 SO – regular season)

Antti Raanta stopped 23 of 26 shots in Game 2 and has a 1.92 GAA and .923 SV% in the series. However, Andersen is expected to return from an illness for Game 3. Andersen stopped 21 of 22 shots in an April 2 victory over the Isles. He was 2-1-0 with a 2.67 GAA and .905 SV% in 3 games against the Islanders this year.

Sorokin stopped 33 of 36 shots fired his way in Game 2. He has a 2.92 GAA and .932 SV% in the series and has really kept his team in the hunt. He was 1-3 with a 2.79 GAA and .911 SV% in 4 games against the Canes in the regular season.

Hurricanes at Islanders picks and predictions

Prediction

Islanders 3, Hurricanes 2

Moneyline

The Islanders have momentum after nearly stealing home-ice advantage, and now the Hurricanes are turning to a goalie who hasn’t played in a week and are down a top-line forward. The Isles will get at least 1 in this series, and they have won 4 in a row at home.

Take the ISLANDERS -120.

Puck line/Against the spread

The last 3 games between the teams have been decided by 1 goal, and that’s likely again in Game 3. However there’s no way we can drop -275 on that likelihood.

PASS and look to the total.

Over/Under

Five is a small number, but it is on point. Three of the last 5 games between the teams have been Under this number. The Under is 9-3 in the last 12 for Carolina and 8-2 in their last 10 against Metropolitan Division opponents. Head to the Win/Total section and take ISLANDERS AND UNDER 6.5 GOALS (+160) for a nice payout with a little cushion.

New York Islanders at Carolina Hurricanes Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New York Islanders at Carolina Hurricanes Game 2 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Islanders visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. Puck drop from PNC Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2). The Hurricanes lead the series 1-0. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Islanders vs. Hurricanes odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Islanders were on the short end of a 2-1 loss in Game 1 on Monday, and discipline was the difference. New York RW Hudson Fasching was whistled for a trip at 3:42 of the 1st period, and just 5 seconds later Carolina C Sebastian Aho cashed in with a power-play goal to open the scoring.

New York D Ryan Pulock was called for a slash on RW Stefan Noesen at 1:40 of the 2nd period, and Noesen stepped up and scored on the man advantage just 47 seconds later to give the Canes a 2-0 lead.

That goal stood up as the game-winning tally, as Pulock avenged himself with a goal in the 2nd period to slice the lead in half. That put a bow on the scoring and was as close as New York could get.

Islanders at Hurricanes Game 2 projected goalies

Sorokin did enough to keep his team in the game, stopping 35 of 37 shots. The Russian netminder never allowed a 5-on-5 goal, stopping 31 shots in even-strength situations.

Raanta was the surprise starter in Game 1 over G Frederik Andersen, as head coach Rod Brind’Amour obviously liked the way Raanta played down the stretch as well as in last season’s playoff run. Raanta turned aside 25 of the 26 shots he faced for his 7th career postseason win.

Islanders at Hurricanes Game 2 picks and predictions

Prediction

Hurricanes 3, Islanders 2

Moneyline

The HURRICANES (-175) are a little on the expensive side, but Carolina has been money at home in recent seasons in the postseason.

Carolina went 7-1 last season on home ice in the playoffs, only losing Game 7 in the second round to the New York Rangers.

The Islanders have dropped 4 in a row on the road, including 2 trips to Raleigh.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Islanders +1.5 (-190) will cost you nearly 2 times your potential return if you want a little insurance and think this will be another 1-goal game.

I have a feeling we’re going to see a close contest and it wouldn’t be surprising if we needed extra time. However, this is too high of a price to pay with very little reward.

PASS.

Over/Under

I am looking for the Over/Under 5 to land right on the number.

This is a very low total, so I’d lean Over 5 (-135) if anything, but that’s quite a hefty price tag for a total and I have a feeling we’ll see a slight uptick in scoring. We definitely won’t see a total of 6 or more goals, so there is no point in risking it.

PASS.

New York Islanders at Carolina Hurricanes Game 1 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s New York Islanders at Carolina Hurricanes Game 1 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Islanders (42-31-9) visit the Carolina Hurricanes (47-21-14) on Monday for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. Puck drop from PNC Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Islanders vs. Hurricanes odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Islanders qualified for the top Wild-Card spot, edging the Florida Panthers by a single point.

New York posted a dominant 6-2 win in Carolina in the 1st meeting on Oct. 28. However, Carolina won the previous 3 meetings, including each of the 2 meetings on Long Island. More importantly, the Canes won 2-1 on April 2 in Raleigh as the Under (5.5) easily connected.

Carolina picked up a pair of wins to close out the season, hanging on for the Metropolitan Division title over the New Jersey Devils by 1 point.

The Hurricanes have managed to win 37 of the last 51 games at PNC Arena, which is a .725 winning percentage. They’re also 17-7 in the last 24 games when working on 3 or more days of rest. And to be honest, the Canes looked a little tired down the stretch, so the rest likely did them well.

Islanders at Hurricanes projected goalies

Ilya Sorokin (31-22-7, 2.34 GAA, .924 SV%, 6 SO) vs. Frederik Andersen (21-11-1, 2.48 GAA, .903 SV%, 1 SO)

Sorokin started all 4 regular-season meetings against the Hurricanes, going 1-3-0 with a 2.79 GAA and .911 SV%. He allowed just 2 goals on 35 shots in the 2-1 loss 2 weeks ago in Raleigh, while conceding just 2 goals on 35 shots in the 1st meeting in late October, too.

Andersen makes his first NHL playoff start since 2020, when he was a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He suffered a lower-body injury last April and was forced to miss the entire postseason for the Hurricanes. Andersen went 2-1-0 with a 2.67 GAA and .905 SV% in 3 starts against the Isles in the regular season.

Islanders at Hurricanes picks and predictions

Prediction

Hurricanes 3, Islanders 2

Moneyline

The HURRICANES (-165) have quite a hefty price tag, but they’re well worth playing on home ice in front of its raucous home crowd.

Carolina is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings against New York, while cashing in 6 of the last 8 home matchups with the Isles. The favorite has connected in 4 of the previous 5 meetings, too.

Look for the Hurricanes to get off to a good start with a Game 1 victory.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Islanders +1.5 (-190) are a little too expensive for my liking, if you can’t pick New York straight up, and would like some insurance.

I think New York is able to make this a very close game, and it should cover in a game which potentially sees overtime. However, you can’t risk nearly 2 times your potential return. It’s not a good long-term betting strategy.

PASS.

Over/Under

The UNDER 5.5 (-130) is the lean in this series opener.

Carolina scored 3 or fewer goals in 9 of the final 11 regular-season games. The Under is 8-2 in the last 10 games overall for the Canes, while going 4-0 in the last 4 home outings.

For New York, the Under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 games against Metropolitan Division foes, while cashing at an 8-3-1 clip in the last 12 games in the conference quarterfinals round.

Canadiens at Islanders projected goalies

Sam Montembeault (16-17-3, 3.36 GAA, .904 SV%) vs. Ilya Sorokin (30-22-7, 2.35 GAA, .924 SV%, 6 SO)

Montembeault is expected to get the nod in the penultimate game for the Habs. He was smashed for 7 goals on 46 shots in Toronto last time out on Saturday and has won just once in the past 4 starts.

Montembeault allowed 3 goals on 30 shots in a 4-3 OT win over the Isles on Feb. 11 in his most recent meeting with New York. He also allowed just 2 goals on 38 shots in a hard-luck 2-1 loss on the Island back on Jan. 14.

Sorokin coughed up 3 goals on 23 shots in a 5-2 loss at Washington last time out Monday. Still, he is a solid 2-3-0 with a 2.24 GAA and .927 SV% with a shutout in 5 April starts.

Sorokin allowed just a single goal on 23 shots in a 2-1 win over the Habs on Jan. 14 in Elmont.

Canadiens at Islanders picks and predictions

Prediction

Islanders 5, Canadiens 2

Moneyline

The Islanders (-350) will cost you 3 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s way too expensive for a standalone wager or even as part of a parlay. There is no value in playing such heavy favorites.

PASS, and look to the puck line instead.

Puck line/Against the spread

The ISLANDERS -1.5 (-135) are a much better play on home ice against the Canadiens in this must-win game.

Prior to the 5-2 loss in D.C., the Isles had won and cashed on the puck line as a favorite in the previous 2 outings. There is a risk here, too, however, as the Isles are 0-2 against the spread vs. the Canadiens this season, both as a favorite.

Over/Under

The OVER 6 (+100) is the lean in this all-important game for the Islanders.

The thinking here is that the Islanders are going to be super aggressive on offense, and they won’t show any signs of letting up until they know the win is in the bag and a postseason spot locked up.

The Over is 5-2-1 in the past 8 games on the road for the Habs while going 9-3 in their past 12 games against Metropolitan Division teams.

Washington was eliminated from the playoff chase, and it has been in a nosedive ever since. The Capitals have picked up just 1 point out of a possible 12 available points since March 25, and it is just 1-7-2 in the last 10 games overall.

Washington has been showing no signs of life, and New York is 7-3 in its last 10 games against Metropolitan Division opponents.

Puck line/Against the spread

The ISLANDERS -1.5 (+155) are a strong value play, as New York pushes for the playoffs.

The Isles have outscored their last 2 opponents by a 10-1 margin, and New York has won 6 of its last 7 games by 3 or more goals. If you like the Isles to win, you should like them to win on the puck line, too.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-110) is a great play, and the Isles have the potential to take care of the Over on their own.

Kuemper has been hemorrhaging goals lately, and the Over is 10-3 in the last 13 games for the Capitals. The Under has been a frequent occurrence for the Isles lately, but New York should flex some offensive muscle against the skidding Caps.

Flyers at Islanders projected goalies

Carter Hart (21-22-10, 2.92 GAA, .908 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Ilya Sorokin (29-21-7, 2.38 GAA, .924 SV%, 5 SO)

Hart was hot to finish up March, winning 4 straight games including a 3-0 shutout over the Detroit Red Wings. He allowed 4 goals on 30 shots in a loss in Dallas last time out Thursday.

Sorokin turned aside 30 of the 31 shots he faced against the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday, keeping the playoff hopes of the Isles alive and well. He allowed 2 goals on 32 shots in a 3-1 loss in Philadelphia Nov. 29 in his only previous meeting with the Fly Guys this season.

Flyers at Islanders picks and predictions

Prediction

Islanders 3, Flyers 1

Moneyline

The Islanders (-275) will cost you nearly 3 times your potential return, and that’s way too much for not enough reward.

Even as part of a multi-team parlay, including New York sucks all the value out of your ticket.

AVOID.

Puck line/Against the spread

The ISLANDERS -1.5 (-105) are a better value at near even-money on the puck line.

As a favorite, New York has failed to cover the puck line in each of the past 3 games, and it is 3-10 in the past 13 games on the puck line, too.

It’s risky, but it’s worth the play with Philly out of the playoff race, and New York likely to go all out for an important 2 points.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (+100) is the lean.

The total has gone low in 8 of the past 11 meetings in this series. The Under is also 5-2 in the past 7 games overall for Philadelphia, while going 5-1 in the past 6 on the road for the Flyers.

The Under is 4-1-1 in the past 6 games for the Islanders, too, while cashing at a 4-1-1 clip in the past 6 against the Eastern Conference, too.

The Tampa Bay Lightning (45-27-6) meet the New York Islanders (39-30-9) on Thursday. Puck drop from UBS Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Lightning vs. Islanders odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Lightning suffered a 6-3 road loss at the New York Rangers Wednesday, snapping a 3-game win streak. The Over result also ended a 4-0 run to the Under.

The Islanders were on the short end of a 2-1 loss on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday, following up a 5-0 setback against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena Saturday. The Under is on a 4-0-1 run for the Isles, who have been shut out twice along that span.

Lightning at Islanders projected goalies

Brian Elliott (11-6-2, 3.30 GAA, .891 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Ilya Sorokin (28-21-7, 2.40 GAA, .923 SV%, 5 SO)

Elliott was knocked around for 6 goals on 34 shots in a 7-2 loss at Ottawa last time out on March 23, snapping a modest personal 2-game win streak. He was 2-2-0 with a 3.80 GAA and .866 SV% in 4 outings in March.

Sorokin was on the short end of the 2-1 setback at Carolina Sunday in his most recent outing, and he is 0-2-0 with a 3.96 GAA and .893 SV% in 2 April starts so far.

Lightning at Islanders picks and predictions

Prediction

Lightning 4, Islanders 3

Moneyline

The LIGHTNING (-105) are a good play as short ‘dogs on the road.

The Islanders have dropped 2 in a row, and New York is 2-3-1 in the past 6 games overall, collecting just 5 out of a possible 12 points.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Lightning +1.5 (-275) are way too expensive if you require insurance in this road matchup. You can’t risk nearly 3 times your potential return, even as part of a parlay play, as that’s not nearly enough value.

AVOID.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-120) is the best play on the board.

While the Under has been a frequent occurrence for both teams lately, the Over is 7-3-1 in Tampa’s last 11 games against Metropolitan Division teams, and it is especially a solid play with Elliott in the crease on the second end of a back-to-back.

The Islanders need this one and should be able to generate some solid offense against the backup, although they’ll come up short in the end.

New York Islanders at Carolina Hurricanes odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New York Islanders at Carolina Hurricanes odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Islanders (39-29-9) end a 3-game road trip on Sunday against the Carolina Hurricanes (48-18-9). Puck drop at PNC Arena is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Islanders vs. Hurricanes odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Isles are coming off a 5-0 road loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning and are 5-4-1 over the last 10. They sit 2 points ahead of the Florida Panthers for the 1st Wild-Card spot and 3 points ahead of the Pittsburgh Penguins, who are on the outside looking in. The Islanders have 5 games left to punch their ticket.

Carolina snapped a 3-game losing skid with a 3-0 road victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. The Canes sit 1 point ahead of New Jersey for the 2nd seed in the East with a game in hand on them.

Islanders at Hurricanes projected goalies

Semyon Varlamov (11-9-2, 2.70 GAA, .913 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Frederik Andersen (19-9-1, 2.47 GAA, .903 SV%, 1 SO)

Varlamov came on midway through the 2nd period Saturday after Ilya Sorokin surrendered 4 goals. Varly stopped 10 of 11 shots in the loss to Tampa. He has just 2 starts since March 1 as Sorokin has been grinding away in a playoff race. Over his last 3 outings, Varlamov has stopped 65 of 72 shots fired his way for a .903 SV%.

Antti Raanta returned from nearly a month-long absence Saturday and stopped 14 shots in the shutout. So look for Andersen to be between the pipes in this game. Andersen was 5-4-1 with a 2.48 GAA and .898 SV% in March. The heavy usage likely caught up to him as he allowed 3 goals in 5 of 7 games and at least 2 in all.

Islanders at Hurricanes picks and predictions

Prediction

Islanders 3, Hurricanes 2

Moneyline

This should be a tight game. The Canes are 25-10-3 at home this season, but the Isles arguably need this game a little more. The road team has taken each of the last 5 meetings between the clubs. However, Carolina is 9-4 in its last 13 games with no rest. New York likely enters with a fresher goalie, and I’ll LEAN ISLANDERS +145 to get it done in overtime.

Puck line (PL)/Against the spread

Carolina isn’t a good puck-line team, especially at home, with a 15-23 mark. The Islanders are a solid 21-18 on the PL on the road. However, I’m not a fan of the -175 juice to take New York +1.5. So let’s dive deeper and take the Islanders with the protection of getting into overtime and take ISLANDERS OR TIE -130 under the Double Chance (regular time) section.

Over/Under

The Under is 3-0-1 in the Islanders’ last 4 games. The Under cashed in 5 of Carolina’s last 7 games as well. This late in the season, teams play tighter defense, and scoring is more at a premium. I see this being a 3-2 or 2-1 kind of game so take the UNDER 5.5 (+100) at even money.
