New York City FC vs. Inter Miami picks and predictions

Prediction

Inter Miami 3, New York City FC 1

Moneyline (ML)

BET INTER MIAMI (+135).

Inter has been on a tear when F Lionel Messi takes the pitch, and he’s going to be active. After coming on as a sub Wednesday, he should be primed to start and get at least 70 minutes, heavily impacting the lethal Miami attack.

Inter is surging and has had recently road success while NYCFC has lost 2 of its last 3. It has been outscored 10-4 in its last 3 games. It is just 2-5-6 over its last 13. After a hot stretch in the early season, NYCFC hasn’t been impressive. Against a team like Inter, expect them to struggle.

Take INTER MIAMI (+135).

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 3.5 (+100).

NYCFC has gone Over this total in 3 of its last 4 games, scoring at least 2 in 2 of those and allowing at least 2 in 3 of the 4. New York has allowed at least 1.6 expected goals in 3 of its last 4.

As for Inter, they have gone Over this total in 3 straight games, scoring 9 goals in those. Miami has gone Over it in 5 of its last 7 as well. Take OVER 3.5 (+100).

LA Galaxy vs. New York City FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s LA Galaxy vs. New York City FC odds and lines, with expert MLS picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The LA Galaxy (8 wins, 7 draws, 3 losses) welcome New York City FC (9-2-6) to Dignity Health Sports Park Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET (Apple TV). Below, we preview FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the LA Galaxy vs. New York City FC odds, and make our best expert MLS picks and predictions.

The Galaxy sit 3rd in the Western Conference and have one of the most electric offenses in the MLS. LA Galaxy vs. New York City FC picks and predictions

Prediction

LA Galaxy 2, New York City FC 2

Moneyline (ML)

SPRINKLE DRAW (+300).

New York opened its season with 3 straight losses, losing 4 of its first 5 as well. In its last 10, New York has won 8. It is playing at a high level and has won 3 straight on the road. It has a strong attack while the Galaxy have struggled defensively.

LA has played well recently as well, winning 3 of its last 4, but it has drawn 4 of its last 8 games and has drawn 7 of 18 games. With how well both sides are playing, expect a close battle and take DRAW (+300) for the best value on the moneyline.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 3.5 (+116).

The Galaxy have gone Over even this total in 4 of their last 7 games with 2 of those actually ending in a 2-2 draw. They have scored 10 goals in its last 4 games and has allowed 6 in those.

New York has a similar style and has tallied 8 goals in the last 3 games and 15 goals in its last 6. While it has had a strong defense for most of the season, NYCFC gave up 3 to the Crew Friday and has allowed at least 2 in 3 of its last 7.

Expect a high-scoring game given the pace and talent both sides bring to the pitch. BACK OVER 3.5 (+116).

Inter Miami vs. New York City FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Inter Miami vs. New York City FC odds and lines, with expert MLS picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Inter Miami (9 wins, 5 draws, 15 losses) welcomes New York City FC (8-13-10) to DRV PNK Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Inter Miami vs. New York City FC odds, and make our best expert MLS picks and predictions.

Inter Miami lost the U.S. Open Cup Final 2-1 at home Wednesday. F Lionel Messi missed that match and seems unlikely to play Saturday after a heavy workload during the Leagues Cup, which Inter won. Miami has looked far better since Messi joined the roster and is 2-1-0 at home in MLS action during that span. It is led in scoring by F Leonardo Campana, who has 9 goals in 23 matches (14 starts).

New York City sits 9th in the Eastern Conference and is on the brink of the playoffs with 3 games remaining. New York is 3-2-0 over its last 5 games, all home matches. It is 1-7-7 on the road this season. NYCFC’s weakness has been in the attack, averaging just 1.06 goals per game. F Gabriel Pereira leads the team with 6 goals in 22 matches.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Inter Miami vs. New York City FC picks and predictions

Prediction

Inter Miami 2, New York City FC 2

Moneyline (ML)

SPRINKLE DRAW (+260).

Although Messi may not be available, there’s no reason to believe Inter cannot get a positive result. It played Houston, which sits 4th on the Western Conference table, Wednesday and lost 2-1. Miami has performed well at home since the addition of Messi, which also brought the likes of D Jordi Alba and M Sergio Busquets.

NYCFC has drawn 7 of 15 road matches, and at this value, +260 presents enough value to put some of a unit on, given both teams recently trends in this position. Back DRAW (+260).

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-150).

NYCFC has scored in 4 of its last 5 games and has scored at least 2 goals in 3 of those 5. Better yet, it has had at least 1.5 expected goals in 4 of those 5 which suggests it is starting to figure it out offensively.

Inter is allowing 1.55 goals per game in MLS action which should aid NYCFC’s scoring. Miami averages 1.28 goals per game and has elite goalscorer like F Josef Martinez. Miami has gone Over this total in 4 of its last 5 games.

While the juice is there, still take OVER 2.5 (-150).

MLS playoffs: Philadelphia Union vs. New York City FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Philadelphia Union vs. New York City FC odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The No. 1 Philadelphia Union host No. 3 New York City FC at Subaru Park Sunday. Kickoff of the Eastern Conference final is set for 3 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we preview Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Philadelphia Union vs. New York City FC odds, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Union are coming into this game following a 1-0 win over FC Cincinnati at home, a game they were outplayed in, but saved by heroics from GK Andre Blake.

Philadelphia’s strength is in its defense, having allowed just 26 goals this season. During the regular season, it beat NYCFC in both battles, a 2-1 win at home and 2-0 win on the road.

As for NYCFC, it has had a more complicated season as it no longer has star F Valentín Castellanos, who still has the most goals on the team this season with 13. That said, it has made its way through though with wins over Inter Miami and CF Montreal, scoring 3 goals in each and allowing just 1 goal to the high-octane Montreal attack.

Prediction

Philadelphia Union 1, New York City FC 0

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN PHILADELPHIA UNION (-114).

The Union are a well-balanced team and have proven that time and time again. They rank No. 1 in the MLS in save percentage, clean sheets and interceptions.

Offensively, it ranked No. 1 in shooting percentage and 3rd in shots on target. Those numbers, and having posted a 12-0-5 home record, combine to make betting Philadelphia the wise play.

Also, NYCFC beat Montreal 3-1, but it had fewer expected goals, losing that battle 2.9 to 1.8. Play that game again, and the outcome may have been different.

Montreal was weak defensively all season, as was Inter Miami. NYCFC is going to meet a team that is elite on both sides of the pitch, and considering that, I’d back the Union to win in regulation.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-101).

While NYCFC dominated its 2 games so far, Philadelphia is a different beast and has strong, capable defenders.

They have pitched 4 clean sheets in its last 6 games and have allowed just 1.2 expected goals in its last 2 matches. FC Cincinnati was 1 of the most dynamic attacks in the East, having scored the 2nd-most goals in the conference. The Union, behind Blake, didn’t allow a single goal.

NYCFC has a good defense as well, allowing just 41 goals in 34 matches. With the Union having scored 8 goals in 6 matches against the other 3 top-4 defenses in the East, I would expect a low-scoring battle.

New York City FC vs. FC Cincinnati odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New York City FC vs. FC Cincinnati odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

New York City FC (13 wins, 10 losses, 6 draws) welcomes FC Cincinnati (9-8-11) to Citi Field Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the New York City FC vs. FC Cincinnati odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati’s win Saturday over Charlotte snapped a 3-game draw streak. Cincinnati is in playoff position, tied with New England for 7th, but, if the season ended today, they would be out due to their -1 goal differential.

FCC has drawn 9 of their last 12 matches. They’re led by star F Brandon Vazquez, who has 16 goals on the season. Fellow All-Star M Luciano Acosta leads the team with 10 assists. FCC has had just 2 clean sheets since May 7.

As for New York City FC, they have dropped off a cliff as of late. They have lost 6 of their last 7 matches. The absence of 23-year-old F Valentín Castellanos who is now playing with La Liga side Girona, has been brutal for NYCFC.

He had 13 goals in 17 starts. No one has gotten close to replacing him and their offense has struggled, scoring just 2 goals in their last 3 games. NYCFC has fallen to 4th in the conference.

Prediction

FC Cincinnati 2, New York City FC 2

Money line (ML)

LEAN DRAW (+300).

Both of my plays in this game are going to be leans, not because of my confidence here, but because of the value.

FCC has played up to and down to the level of their competition. They got away with a win against Charlotte, a team that has been awful on the road. They still only had .3 more expected goals. In all but 3 matches in their last 12 draws, they have been within 1 expected goal on their opponent.

Similarly, NYCFC has struggled immensely of late and may not have that home-field edge fans are used to. They’ve lost 2 straight home games, both to non-playoff teams in the East.

That’s cause for concern enough, and with FCC having been a drawing machine as of late, I’ll play the draw for a small unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (-175).

The value makes this tough to get behind, but the reasoning is undoubtedly there. NYCFC has gone over this in 6 of their last 7 matches. FCC has gone over this in 4 of their last 6.

They’ve been among the most high-paced teams in the league. Both teams sit top 6 in shots on target and top 5 in shooting percentage, so there should be a plethora of attacking opportunities.

FCC is also tied for the 3rd-most goals allowed in the East and NYCFC has  allowed at least 2 goals in 3 straight games.

Combine it all, and I’ll play the over for a unit at this value despite the odds.

Columbus Crew vs. New York City FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Columbus Crew vs. New York City FC odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Columbus Crew (7 wins, 6 losses, 9 draws) welcome New York City FC (12-4-6) to Lower.com Field Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Columbus Crew vs. New York City FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Crew lost their midweek match at home against CF Montreal. After leading 1-0 heading into the last 20 minutes, a weather delay paused the game and Montreal came out on fire, scoring 2 in the last 10 minutes.

Columbus dropped to 6th on the table and is just 4-4-3 at home. It is still led by star M Lucas Zelarayán who scored their lone one on Wednesday and now has 6 goals on the season.

NYCFC comes in a bit more rested, drawing CF Montreal on the road last Saturday. NYCFC sits 2nd in the Eastern Conference and has given up the 2nd-fewest goals in the MLS.

They will have to overcome the loss of 23-year-old F Valentín Castellanos (13 goals), who announced he would be leaving MLS to join Girona in La Liga. NYCFC has lost just once since April 2 and is 4-1-4 in their last 9.

Prediction

New York City FC 1, Columbus Crew 0

Money line (ML)

BET NEW YORK CITY FC (+180).

The Crew are coming off a brutal loss on Wednesday while NYCFC should be rested, so there’s a slight advantage to the road side there. D Jonathan Mensah played all 90 minutes while Zelarayán played 72.

As for NYCFC, they have been dominant as of late, pitching 4 straight shutouts and leading the league in clean sheets. They have won 2 of their last 3 road matches, drawing Montreal on the road last weekend despite not playing their star striker.

Columbus lost to NYCFC 2-0 earlier in the season and is just 0-4-2 against top-5 teams in the East. It could show resilience behind a home crowd, but the value is in playing NYCFC +175 here.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (+100).

NYCFC has one of the best goalkeepers in the MLS in Sean Johnson. He is a stud which is why NYCFC sits 2nd in the MLS in save percentage.

Their defense is also among the best without even factoring in Johnson. They have the 4th-fewest shots against them this season. Columbus sits with the 7th-fewest goals, also possesses a terrific backline.

NYCFC has gone under this total in 4 straight games and in 3 straight road matches. The Crew have gone under this total in 12 of 21 matches this season and in 7 of 11 home matches.

CF Montreal vs. New York City FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s CF Montreal vs. New York City FC odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

New York City FC (12 wins, 4 losses, 5 draws) visits Stade Saputo Saturday to take on CF Montreal (11-8-2). Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we preview the CF Montreal vs. New York City FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

After a horrific 4-game stretch in which NYCFC allowed 10 goals June 26-July 9, it has put things back together, recording 3 consecutive clean sheets. New York has a league-leading 11 clean sheets – Philadelphia and Chicago are tied for 2nd with 9.

NYCFC has won 4 straight, including 2 on the road. The away side is led by F Valentín Castellanos, who is one of the league’s most electric players. Entering Friday, the 23-year-old is tied for the most MLS goals this season (13) wtih fellow Argentine Sebastian Driussi, a forward for Austin FC.

Montreal is led by F Romell Quioto, who has 9 goals. Montreal is 1 of 3 teams to have recorded less than 3 clean sheets.

New York City FC beat CF Montreal 4-1 in their 1st head-to-head match this season back in March. However, Montreal is on a 2-game winning streak and 6-4 at home.

NYCFC and Montreal rank 1-2 in in the East with the most goals at 41 and  36, respectively. But Montreal has allowed the 4th-most (36), while New York ranks second defensively (21) – Philadelphia has allowed the least in the East (15).

Prediction

New York City FC 2, CF Montreal 1

Money line (ML)

BET NEW YORK CITY FC (+165).

Simply put, NYCFC is the better team.

Montreal lost at home to 1st-place Philadelphia earlier this season and doesn’t have a home win against a top-4 club in either conference. Its 3 other home setbacks are to Austin (2nd in the West), Real Salt Lake (4th in the West) and Sporting Kansas City (last in the West).

Three of NYCFC’s 4 road wins came against top-5 clubs with victories over the New York Red Bulls (3rd in the East), Minnesota (3rd in the West) and FC Dallas (5th in the West).

New York City FC’s 126 shots on target lead the MLS. To make matters worse for the home side, Montreal has the league’s 2nd-lowest save percentage (57.6%).

NYCFC has won 4 of 9 road matches, so at this value, I’d back the away side.

Over/Under (O/U)

AVOID.

I usually don’t like passing on plays, but this is one I’d stay far away from. New York’s defense has shown flaws this season, while Montreal has one of the worst backlines in the MLS.

However, when Montreal faced East-leading Philly this season, it tied 1-1 and lost 2-1.

As for New York, it has gone Under 2.5 in 6 of its 9 road matches.

While I don’t hate the Under, Montreal has only been shut out 3 times, so I’d ultimately PASS here. Over (-155) is just far too pricey.

FC Cincinnati vs. New York City FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s FC Cincinnati vs. New York City FC odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati (7 wins, 7 losses, 2 draws) hosts New York City FC (8-4-3) at TQL Stadium Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the FC Cincinnati vs. New York City FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati defeated Orlando City FC 1-0 at home last Friday, and they did so on the back of a dominant defensive effort, allowing just 0.2 expected goals. They’ve won 5 of their last 8 matches.

FCC is led by 23-year-old F Brandon Vazquez. With 8 goals on the season, Vazquez’s recent play has caught the eye of USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter. M Luciano Acosta is the team’s captain and has 8 combined goals and assists on the season.

As for NYCFC, they went on the road to Philadelphia and lost via a 96th-minute goal. Their lone goal of the 2-1 defeat was a penalty kick. NYCFC now sits 2nd in the Eastern Conference.

NYCFC is led by F Valentín Castellanos with 8 goals on the season. It’s truly been their defense that has them sitting in 2nd place, having allowed just 13 goals in 15 matches.

FC Cincinnati 1, NYCFC 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN FC CINCINNATI OR TIE -135.

FC Cincinnati has played surprisingly well as of late. It looks like the expansion team, behind Vazquez is starting to figure things out.

While a 3-4-0 record at home may not look like success, FCC has had as many or more expected goals in all but 1 game, which was against the MLS’s best team, LAFC.

New York is coming off a disappointing effort against Philadelphia, and most of its success is based on thriving at home. NYCFC is just 2-3-1 on the road.

Also, Castellanos played a full 90 Sunday against the East’s best defense, Philadelphia. He may not see the full time again which would bode well for FCC.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (+105).

While I don’t have a strong play in this game, the plus-money value on the under is enticing.

In the 5 games that FCC has played against an opponent that has allowed under 20 goals on the season, they’re 2-3 O/U. NYCFC has one of the best defenses in the league and has gone under in 6 of their last 7.

The only time they failed to, Philadelphia scored a 96th-minute goal and NYCFC scored on an 89th-minute penalty. NYCFC only has 6 multi-goal games, and they’ve only scored 5 goals in their 6 road matches.

Signs point to the under being the better value here, but considering FCC’s defense, I wouldn’t put a full-unit bet on the total.

Philadelphia Union vs. New York City FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Philadelphia Union vs. New York City FC odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Philadelphia Union welcome New York City FC to Subaru Park Sunday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Philadelphia Union vs. New York City FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Union are coming off a disappointing draw with FC Cincinnati. What’s more concerning is that FCC controlled the match despite being on the road. FCC had 55% possession and 4 more shots.

Philadelphia will look to bounce back, having fallen to 4th place on the Eastern Conference table. They’re still tied with NYCFC for the fewest goals allowed in the MLS at 11.

NYCFC have been dominant at home, but are just 2-2-1 on the road. They had an 8-game stretch earlier in the season, 6 of which were at home and 7 of which resulted in a win.

That’s helped jolt them to first in the conference. They have a league-high 8 clean sheets and have allowed the fewest shots against in the league. NYCFC haven’t lost since April 2.

Prediction

Philadelphia Union 1, New York City FC 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN DRAW +240.

NYCFC hasn’t lost in almost 3 months, and after Phiiladellphia’s latest performance, I don’t have much confidence that’s going to change.

However, at the same time, NYCFC isn’t nearly as dominant on the road. Their most recent outing was a 1-1 draw with Minnesota United at Allianz Field.

Philadelphia won 5 of its first 6 games. In its last 8, it’s drawn 7, an extremely uncommon streak, but what that should tell bettors is that they play to the level of their opponent.

Those draws include 1 against the West’s top team, LAFC, and another against the 2nd-best team in the East, the New York Red Bulls.

Considering NYCFC’s struggles on the road along with Philadelphia’s ability to play to the level of their opponent, the DRAW +225 is my favorite play on the money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-117).

Philadelphia has only gone over this total 3 times this year. In 2 of those 3 matches, their opponents scored 3 combined goals yet had just 0.8 expected goals. NYCFC has gone under this total in 6 straight games.

The Union’s defense is among the best in the MLS, as is NYCFC’s. Both teams have a top-notch keeper as well. Philadelphia ranks No. 1 in save rate and No. 9 in shots against while NYCFC sits 1st and 5th in those respective categories.

Philadelphia also only has 20 goals in 15 games, and they’ve yet to allow multiple goals in a game to their opponent while at home.

Combine it all, and the UNDER 2.5 (-117) is my favorite bet in this game.

New York City FC vs. Colorado Rapids odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New York City FC vs. Colorado Rapids odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

New York City FC (8 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws) hosts the Colorado Rapids (5-6-3) at Yankee Stadium Sunday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the New York City FC vs. Colorado Rapids odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

In a 3-way tie for first place in the Eastern Conference, New York City FC does sit atop the conference in points per game.

They’re led by 23-year-old Argentinian F Valentín Castellanos who has 7 goals on the season. NYCFC first and foremost suffocates opponents defensively. They’ve allowed just 10 goals in 13 games.

As for Colorado, after finishing atop the Western Conference last season, they sit in 11th place.

The Rapids’ struggles this season are in their attack, having scored just 16 goals in 14 games while allowing 17. F Diego Rubio leads the team with 7 goals while F Michael Barrios tops the team with 3 assists.

  • Money line: New York City FC -190 (bet $190 to win $100) | Colorado Rapids +520 (bet $100 to win $520) | Draw +340
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -140 | U: +115)

[tipico]

Prediction

New York City FC 1, Colorado Rapids 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN DRAW +350.

Colorado has just 5 wins on the season but has had more expected goals than its opponent in 10 of its 14 games. It is better than its record has shown, especially on the road. It has 5 road losses in 6 games.

However, in 4 of those 6 games, it has more expected goals. With a top-tier defense that’s still intact and a lethal combination in Barrios and Rubio, they should be able to hang with NYCFC.

NYCFC is 6-1-1 at home which is why Colorado is given this value.

This is certainly just a lean given NYCFC’s form, but having just 4 points in their first 5 games, this 4-game win streak will come to an end at some point. They’re unbeaten in 8 straight as well.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (+115).

Both Colorado and NYCFC rank in the top 10 in opponents’ shots.

They both also rank in the top 5 in clean sheets. NYCFC has gone under this total in 5 straight while the Rapids are under this total in 5 of their last 7.

They’re both defensive-first teams, and although each has competent forwards, neither is known for its attack.

While NYCFC does have 25 goals in 13 games, take away 3 games of 4 or more goals, and they’re down to 10 in 10 games which isn’t nearly as impressive.

Couple that with the Rapids’ 1.14 goals per game average, and the under seems like the best option.
