The Stallions enter the postseason riding a 5-game winning streak. They wrapped up the regular season with a 27-20 road win over the Memphis Showboats as 4.5-point favorites while the Over (44) hit.

Breakers at Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 24, Breakers 20

Moneyline

The Stallions come in riding a 5-game winning streak and have not scored fewer than 24 points in the streak. They have scored at least 20 points every game, finishing the year 1st in yards (332.6 YPG) and points (28.7 PG), 2nd in passing (217.1 YPG) and 3rd in rushing (115.5 YPG).

The Breakers finished 2nd in scoring (23.7 PPG), but scored more than 24 only once in their final 7 games. They were No. 1 in total defense (272.0 YPG) and scoring defense (18.4 PPG), but allowed Birmingham to score 24-plus points in both regular-season matchups.

I like the Stallions to win and the moneyline isn’t a bad bet but the spread is a better value.

PASS.

Against the spread

All 8 of the Stallions’ wins were by at least 3 points while all 3 of the Breakers’ losses were by at least 4 points.

The Stallions have not scored fewer than 24 points over the last 5 weeks and scored at least 27 in 4 of them. The Breakers reached 24 points once over the final 7 weeks.

BET STALLIONS -3 (-110).

Over/Under

The 1st matchup between them in Week 3 had 76 points, but the Week 7 had only 44 total points.

The last 3 games for Birmingham and 4 of the last 6 have had totals of more than 45 points. The Breakers have not had a game reach 45 total points since Week 3 against the Stallions.

BET UNDER 45 (-110).

New Orleans Breakers vs. Houston Gamblers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Orleans Breakers vs. Houston Gamblers Week 10 odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The final week of the USFL regular season continues Sunday with the New Orleans Breakers (6-3) facing the Houston Gamblers (5-3). Kickoff is 4 p.m. ET at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis. (FS1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Breakers vs. Gamblers odds, and make our expert USFL picks and predictions.

The Breakers knocked off the Memphis Showboats 31-3 last week in a pick’em matchup. The Under (42.5) hit in the game. It was the Breakers’ 2nd  straight win after losing 3 in a row.

The Gamblers suffered a 38-15 loss to the Birmingham Stallions, failing to cover the 3.5-point spread as underdogs. They have lost 2 of their last 3 games.

These teams met in Week 2, with the Breakers winning 38-31.

The Breakers will clinch a playoff spot with a win, eliminating the Gamblers. If the Gamblers win, tiebreakers come into play.

If the Philadelphia Stars beat the Michigan Panthers in the late Sunday game, the Gamblers make the postseason on a strength of victory tiebreaker. If Michigan wins, the Breakers make it on point differential.

Breakers vs. Gamblers picks and predictions

Prediction

Breakers 27, Gamblers 16

Moneyline

The Breakers averaged 33.3 points per game in their 1st 4 games this season, all wins, but then scored only 10 points in each of their next 2 games. They have since averaged 25.0 points per game over their last 3 again.

Meanwhile, the Gamblers have not scored more than 20 points in their last 4 games.

The Breakers won the first matchup and are playing better than Houston, but the moneyline is too pricey to bet.

PASS.

Against the spread

Five of the Breakers’ 6 wins this season have been by at least 4 points. Three of the Gamblers’ 4 losses have been by at least 7 points. They are 1-4 when their opponents score more than 20 points.

BET BREAKERS -4 (-110).

Over/Under

The Breakers have not had a game reach 45 total points since Week 3. Five of the Gamblers’ 9 games have had totals of 45 or more, but 3 out of the last 4 games have not reached 45.

BET UNDER 44.5 (-110).

Michigan Panthers vs. New Orleans Breakers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Michigan Panthers vs. New Orleans Breakers Week 8 odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

Week 8 of the USFL season concludes Sunday with the Michigan Panthers (3-4) taking on the New Orleans Breakers (4-3). Kickoff from Protective Stadium in Birmingham is 4 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Breakers odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Panthers snapped a 4-game losing streak last week with a 25-22 win over the Generals as 6.5-point underdogs. In their previous 4 games, they had not scored more than 13 points.

The Breakers are coming off a 24-20 loss to the Stallions as 1.5-point underdogs. They have lost 3 straight games after a 4-0 start.

Panthers vs. Breakers picks and predictions

Prediction

Breakers 27, Panthers 20

Moneyline

The Panthers have scored 24 or more points in their 3 wins and 13 or fewer in their 4 losses. The Panthers have allowed 22 or more points in each of their last 5 games.

The Breakers scored 125 points in their first 4 games, all wins. Since then, they have scored 40 points in their last 3, all losses.

Expect the Breakers, who scored 20 in a loss last week, to get on track offensively. But a better bet is to go with the spread.

PASS on the moneyline.

Against the spread

All 4 of the Breakers’ wins this season have been by at least 3 points while the Panthers have not lost by fewer than 14 points this season.

Will this be a blowout? Perhaps not, but Michigan’s defense hasn’t exactly stopped anyone over the last 5 games.

BET BREAKERS -3 (-110).

Over/Under

Three of the Breakers’ games this season have finished with 44 or more points. Last week’s win for the Panthers was their 1st game with a total more than 42 points.

Assuming they stay on track and can score like they did last week and believing they won’t be able to limit New Orleans, you should see a total in the upper 40s.

BET OVER 43.5 (-110).

Birmingham Stallions vs. New Orleans Breakers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Birmingham Stallions vs. New Orleans Breakers odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Birmingham Stallions (4-2) face the New Orleans Breakers (4-2) Saturday for a Week 7 USFL game at Protective Field in Birmingham. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stallions vs. Breakers odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

Technically, this is considered a road game for the Stallions, despite the fact they’re playing this game in Birmingham.

At Protective Stadium this season, the Stallions have posted a 2-2 straight-up (SU) record, while also going 2-2 against the spread (ATS). That includes a 45-31 setback in Week 3 as 6-point favorites against the Breakers, when the Stallions were a true home team. The Over (48.5) easily connected in that game.

In that Week 3 matchup, New Orleans had 483 total yards, to just 253 for Birmingham. It started well for the Stallions, as WR/KR Deon Cain took the opening kickoff 82 yards for a score. Breakers QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson was too much for the Stallions, though, completing 20 of 28 passes for 283 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. RB Wes Hills also gouged the Stallions for 191 rushing yards and 3 TDs.

Birmingham QB Alex McGough tossed a pair of TDs, but RB CJ Marable was bottled up for just 24 rushing yards, although he did score once. WR Davion Davis shined with 5 grabs for 123 yards and a score.

Birmingham snapped an 0-3 ATS skid last weekend with a 27-13 victory in Michigan as 5.5-point favorites, while cashing the Under (44.5). The defense had allowed 30.7 points per game (PPG) in the previous 3 contests before the 13 points allowed in the win.

The Breakers opened the season 4-0 SU/ATS, but the offense has gone silent the past 2 weekends. New Orleans lost 17-10 to Memphis in Birmingham in Week 5, and lost 16-10 last weekend in Week 6 to Philadelphia in Detroit. The Breakers were favorites in both games — 7 points vs. Memphis and 7.5 points vs. Philly.

The Under is on a 3-0 run for the Breakers, as the defense has yielded just 16.7 PPG across the previous 3 contests.

Stallions vs. Breakers picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 24, Breakers 17

Moneyline

BIRMINGHAM (-125) is worth playing in this neutral-site game, especially if you believe it’s going to be a super close game and you don’t want to worry about the points.

The Stallions have posted 20 or more points in all 6 of their games this season, and the defense looked good last week against the Panthers, reverting back to its form from the first 2 weekends when Birmingham was 2-0 SU/ATS, allowing just 12 total points.

New Orleans (+105) has struggled offensively in the past 2 outings, and facing a confident Stallions team in Birmingham, even if this is technically a “home” game, won’t serve the Breakers well.

Against the spread

BIRMINGHAM -1.5 (-110) is a little cheaper laying the really small amount of points.

Unless you’re hellbent on the Stallions winning this game by just a single point, or obviously if you like New Orleans +1.5 (-110), back Birmingham to win by 2 or more points.

Over/Under

UNDER 45.5 (-110) is a play in this key Week 7 South Division battle.

The Breakers have allowed 17 or fewer points in each of the previous 3 outings, cashing the Under in all of those games. The Stallions cashed the Under last weekend, yielding just 13 points to the Panthers. We won’t get a shootout between these teams like we saw back in Week 3.

New Orleans Breakers vs. Philadelphia Stars odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Orleans Breakers vs. Philadelphia Stars odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Orleans Breakers (4-1) face the Philadelphia Stars (2-3) Sunday for a Week 6 USFL game at Ford Field in Detroit. Kickoff is set for noon ET (FS1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Breakers vs. Stars odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Breakers suffered their first setback of the season last week on a neutral field in Birmingham, losing to 17-10 as a 7-point favorite against the Memphis Showboats. The 10 points was easily the lowest of the season.

New Orleans has had a bit of a power outage on offense lately, posting just 30 total points in the last 2 games after averaging 35.0 PPG in the first 3 contests. The defense has actually been strong, yielding just 17.0 PPG in the 2 losses, after allowing 25.7 PPG in the 1st 3 outings.

The Stars stunned the New Jersey Generals by a 24-21 count last weekend, winning outright as a 6.5-point underdog as the Over (43.5) cashed. It was Philly’s 1st cover since Week 1. The Over is 3-2 overall, including each of the last 2 weekends.

The 24 points produced by the Stars was also the most since Week 1, when Philadelphia produced 27 points in Memphis. The defense has yielded 21 or more points in all 5 games this season.

Breakers vs. Stars picks and predictions

Prediction

Breakers 25, Stars 16

Moneyline

New Orleans (-300) cannot be trusted after losing outright last week as a 7-point favorite. Plus, risking 3 times your potential return is just a foolish standalone wager, and it isn’t a good long-term betting strategy playing such heavy favorites. In fact, even as part of a multi-team parlay, including New Orleans isn’t a good idea.

PASS.

Against the spread

NEW ORLEANS -7.5 (-115) has been leaking oil lately on offense, managing just 30 total points in the last 2 weekends. However, facing a Philadelphia +7.5 (-105) defense, which has yielded at least 21 points in all 5 games should be the elixir to cure its ills.

While the Breakers failed to cover last week, they’re still 4-1 ATS overall, while the Stars are just 1-3 ATS in the last 4 outings. Back NOLA, but do so lightly.

Over/Under

UNDER 47.5 (-105) is a solid play in this neutral-site affair.

The Under has cashed in each of the last 2 outings for New Orleans. While I expect the offense to be better for the Breakers, as the Stars just cannot stop anybody, I am still very impressed by the New Orleans defense. It has been consistent, and I see Philadelphia struggling to put up points.

Memphis Showboats vs. New Orleans Breakers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Memphis Showboats vs. New Orleans Breakers odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Memphis Showboats (1-3) and New Orleans Breakers (4-0) meet Sunday for a Week 5 USFL game at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Showboats vs. Breakers odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Showboats picked up their 1st victory of the season last week in Detroit, topping the Michigan Panthers 29-10 to win as 6.5-point underdogs. After opening the season 0-2 against the spread (ATS), Memphis is 2-0 ATS in the last 2 outings. The Over and Under has alternated in each of their 4 contests.

The Breakers have won and covered all 4 games to date, scoring 38 or more points in 2 of the previous 3 outings. The Over/Under, like Memphis, is 2-2 through 4 contests.

Showboats at Breakers picks and predictions

Prediction

Breakers 31, Showboats 20

Moneyline

The Breakers (-300) will cost you 3 times your potential return, and while New Orleans has been dominant this season, that’s still way too costly for a singular bet, or even as part of a multi-team or cross-sport parlay. There is just no value to betting such heavy favorites, and over the long-term it’s a poor betting strategy.

PASS.

Against the spread

The BREAKERS -7 (-110) are worth a look, although I’d certainly be much more excited if it were to slip to -6.5.

New Orleans is 4-0 ATS so far this season, while Memphis is 2-2 ATS. The Showboats have shown some signs of life in the last 2 weekends, going for 27.5 PPG, so Memphis has the pass attack with QB Brady White to make this an uncomfortable margin all afternoon. In the end, however, NOLA just looks too strong. I’d go lightly, however.

Over/Under

OVER 47.5 (-110) might be the best play on the board Sunday.

The Over is 2-2 for each of these teams so far this season. However, the Boats have allowed 27 or more points on 3 occasions, and the Breakers have allowed 31 or more points in 2 of the last 3. In addition, New Orleans has lit up the scoreboard for 34.3 PPG across the last 3 outings, including 38 or more points on 2 occasions. The scoreboard operator might be quite busy in B-Ham Sunday.

New Orleans Breakers vs. New Jersey Generals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Orleans Breakers vs. New Jersey Generals odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Orleans Breakers (3-0) and New Jersey Generals (2-1) meet Sunday for a Week 4 USFL game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET (NBC/Peacock). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Breakers vs. Generals odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Breakers have been on fire to start, winning and covering each of the 1st 3 outings. That includes an impressive 45-31 road win as 6-point underdogs against the defending champ Birmingham Stallions last weekend. The offense is averaging a healthy 41.5 PPG across the last 2 outings, while the defense has allowed 31 points in each game.

The Generals scored an impressive 28-13 road win against the Michigan Panthers at Ford Field in Week 3, covering for the 2nd straight outing. The Under has cashed in each of the last 3 outings, allowing just 16 total points in the last 2 contests.

Breakers vs. Generals picks and predictions

Prediction

Breakers 29, Generals 25

Moneyline

The unbeaten BREAKERS (-150) are a decent moderate favorite in this neutral-site battle, if you don’t want to fiddle around with the points and wish to just pick a winner straight up.

New Orleans has been on fire out of the game, although the Generals (+125) have been pretty sharp over the last 2 games, especially defensively.

Against the spread

The BREAKERS -2.5 (-110) are an attractive play as long as this stays under a flat 3 or 3 and a hook.

New Orleans has covered all 3 of its games to date, although the Generals +2.5 (-110) have been solid on defense in the last 2 weekends.

Still, I like the overall body of work better for the Breakers, and I think they’re more balanced on offense. The Gens have a strong rushing attack, but it remains to be seen if it can move the ball through the air when needed.

Over/Under

OVER 44.5 (-110) has been the go-to play when the Breakers are involved. They can score plenty of points, and New Orleans has allowed 31 points in each of the last 2 contests.

There is risk here, however, as the Generals have cashed the Under in all 3 games to date. Still, the Stallions put up 27 on this defense, and their offense is on par with the Breakers, if not a little less. I expect New Orleans will be able to solve New Jersey, and flirt with 30, and the Gens should find plenty of open spaces against a giving Breakers D, too.

New Orleans Breakers vs. Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Memphis Showboats vs. Birmingham Stallions odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Orleans Breakers (2-0) and the Birmingham Stallions (2-0) meet Saturday for a Week 3 USFL game at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET (USA Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Breakers vs. Stallions odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Breakers opened the season with a 22-15 win in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Maulers as 4-point favorites and narrowly covered in a 38-31 win over the Houston Gamblers as 6.5-point favorites in Week 2. The Breakers are 2nd in the USFL with 30.0 points per game (PPG), behind the Stallions, with 34.5 PPG. The Over/Under has split in 2 games for New Orleans.

The Stallions won 27-10 against the New Jersey Generals in their opener and topped the Memphis Showboats 42-2 as 7-point favorites in Week 2, improving to 2-0 straight up and against the spread (ATS). The Under cashed in each outing for the Stallions.

The Stallions lead the all-time series 7-1, including a 31-17 win in the USFL semifinals playoff game last season. QB Kyle Sloter threw for 328 yards in that victory, the most passing yards in the series. He is now on the Stallions roster.

Birmingham also won 22-13 on May 1 and 18-9 on June 4 in regular-season action last season.

Breakers vs. Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 25, Breakers 22

Moneyline

The Stallions (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your potential return, and there is just no value playing such a heavy favorite straight up.

Birmingham is again expected to start QB Alex McGough, with QB Kyle Sloter, a former Breaker, perhaps making his debut as the backup.

While Birmingham has won 7 of the 8 all-time meetings, including all 3 meetings last season, PASS, and look to the spread in what should be a close game.

Against the spread

Back the BREAKERS +6 (-110) to cover the number, although I’d obviously be a lot more comfortable if it were a flat 7 or 7 and a hook.

The Stallions have been stout on defense, allowing just 12 total points through 2 games, and the Breakers have been a little more giving. That will be the difference in this game.

Over/Under

UNDER 48.5 (-110) is the best play on the board in Week 3.

This total is way too high with how Birmingham’s defense has been playing. This team has allowed just 6.0 PPG, although New Orleans should be able to do much better than that. The Breakers posted 38 points last week against a bad Houston team, although they also allowed 31 points which is slightly concerning with an Under play. Still, going low is the way to go.

Houston Gamblers vs. New Orleans Breakers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Houston Gamblers vs. New Orleans Breakers odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Houston Gamblers (0-1) and the New Orleans Breakers (1-0) meet Saturday for a Week 2 game at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET (USA Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Gamblers vs. Breakers odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Gamblers opened the season with a disappointing 29-13 setback against the Michigan Panthers in Memphis as 1-point favorites with the Over (38.5) connecting. Houston managed just 194 total yards of offense while allowing 327 total yards to Michigan. The Gamblers threw for just 96 total yards — 4.4 yards per attempt.

Plus, Houston turned the ball over 4 times and had a minus-3 turnover differential, losing 2 fumbles with 2 interceptions.

The Breakers dominated the time of possession in a 22-15 win over the Pittsburgh Maulers in Week 1 with a 37:18 TOP compared to Pittsburgh’s 22:42.

The Breakers, who covered the spread as 3.5-point favorites, finished with 332 total yards and held the Maulers to just 156. Most of New Orleans’ yards came through the air (270), while Pittsburgh only had 72 passing yards.

New Orleans lost a fumble, and it was on the short end of a minus-1 turnover differential, but it still managed to win.

Gamblers vs. Breakers picks and predictions

Prediction

Breakers 23, Gamblers 16

Moneyline

The Breakers (-225) will cost 2.25 times your potential return. That’s a little expensive. Over the long term, it’s not a very good strategy playing such heavy favorites.

PASS, and look to the line instead.

Against the spread

Backing the BREAKERS -6.5 (-110) lightly is worth the play. New Orleans covered last week on this very same field, and it facing a Gamblers squad that was awfully sloppy with the ball. In addition, Houston did very little through the air, and it will struggle tremendously against a sturdy New Orleans defense.

Over/Under

UNDER 42 (-110) is the BEST PLAY in this game.

The Breakers defense allowed just 156 total yards against the Maulers in Week 1, and it should be able to throw a blanket on this Gamblers offense. Houston did allow 29 points last week, but the New Orleans offense isn’t likely to be nearly as effective. It also had its struggles last weekend.

Pittsburgh Maulers vs. New Orleans Breakers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Pittsburgh Maulers vs. New Orleans Breakers odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Pittsburgh Maulers and the New Orleans Breakers meet Sunday in the Week 1 opener at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET (FOX Sports 1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Maulers vs. Breakers odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Maulers posted the worst record in the USFL in 2022, winning just once in 10 tries. Pittsburgh also had a dismal minus-96 point differential, which was easily the worst in the league.

The Breakers qualified for the playoffs after going 6-4, but they lost in the division finals 31-17 to the eventual champion Birmingham Stallion. QB Kyle Sloter was on the All-USFL team, while TE Sal Cannella and C Jared Thomas also made the team on offense. TEs EJ Bibbs and Sage Surratt look to replace Cannella, who has moved on.

Sloter is gone, however, although QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson heads from the CFL to USFL trying to make noise. He’ll have playmaker WRs Jonathan Adams and Johnnie Dixon to help ease the transition.

Defensively, the Breakers had DE Davin Bellamy and DT Reggie Howard Jr. on the All-USFL team, too, while LB Jerod Fernandez joined them. Bellamy has moved on, but Fernandez and Howard are back to anchor the D.

New Orleans topped Pittsburgh by a 26-16 score in Week 6 last season, covering as the Over just came in.

Maulers vs. Breakers picks and predictions

Prediction

Breakers 26, Maulers 13

Moneyline

The BREAKERS (-165) aren’t priced out of line if you just want to pick a straight-up winner, and you would rather not fool around with laying the points.

New Orleans says good-bye to Sloter, but Bethel-Thompson and newcomer QB Ageel Glass both have an array of solid downfield threats to pick up right where NOLA left off last season. MBT won the Grey Cup in Canada, and has the tools to be even better than Sloter was in 2022.

Against the spread

Backing the BREAKERS -4 (-110) is a tremendous play. The Maulers +4 (-110) were awful in 2022, and there doesn’t appear to be as many impact players on the Pittsburgh roster. Former NFL LB Reuben Foster tries to resurrect his career in the Steel City, but he hasn’t played since 2018, and it’s uncertain how much he has left in the tank.

Over/Under

OVER 37.5 (-110) is the lean, but go lightly with a half-unit play at most.

This is an awfully low number, and New Orleans should manage its fair share of points. The concern is whether or not Pittsburgh can move the ball on what was one of the better defensive units in the USFL in 2022.
