Pittsburgh Maulers vs. New Jersey Generals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Pittsburgh Maulers vs. New Jersey Generals Week 10 odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The final week of the USFL regular season begins Saturday with the Pittsburgh Maulers (3-6) taking on the New Jersey Generals (3-6). Kickoff from Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, is set for 1 p.m. ET (USA Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Maulers vs. Generals odds, and make our expert USFL picks and predictions.

According to the USFL website, the winner of this game will make the playoffs. If the 1st-place Philadelphia Stars (4-5) lose to the Michigan Panthers (3-6) Sunday, the winner of the Pittsburgh-New Jersey game will be crowned North Division champions and will play the winner of the Philly-Michigan game in the playoffs.

The Maulers snapped a 3-game losing streak last week with a 19-7 win over the Michigan Panthers. They covered the spread as 1.5-point underdogs and the Under (41.5) hit in the victory.

The Generals snapped a 5-game skid with a 37-33 upset win over the Philadelphia Stars. They were 2.5-point underdogs and the total blew past the 43.5-point Over line.

Pittsburgh and New Jersey met in Week 2 with the Generals picking up a 20-3 win.

Maulers vs. Generals picks and predictions

Prediction

Generals 21, Maulers 17

Moneyline

The Maulers have the 2nd-lowest scoring offense in the league, averaging only 16.8 points per game. They have failed to score 21 points or more 6 times, including a shutout in Week 6 and the 3-point showing against the Generals in Week 2.

The Generals averaged 17.2 points per game during their 5-game losing streak.

The Maulers have picked off 11 passes, but the Generals have only thrown 4.

The Maulers have not won consecutive games yet this season, while the Generals did in Weeks 2-3.

I lean Generals here but prefer the spread for the wager.

PASS.

Against the spread

All 3 of the Generals’ wins this season have been by at least 4 points.

Five of the Maulers’ 6 losses have been by at least 4 points.

BET GENERALS -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Seven of the Maulers’ 9 games this season have not reached 40 total points.

The Generals’ last 3 games have had at least 41 total points, but when these two met in Week 2, they combined for only 23 points.

Pittsburgh is 2-7 O/U on the season, while New Jersey is 3-6 O/U.

BET UNDER 40.5 (-110).

Philadelphia Stars vs. New Jersey Generals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Philadelphia Stars vs. New Jersey Generals odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia Stars (4-4) meet the New Jersey Generals (2-6) Sunday in a Week 9 USFL game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Generals odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Stars suffered a 27-24 setback in Birmingham last week against the Stallions, halting a 3-game straight up (SU) win streak. However, the Stars have posted an impressive 4-0 against the spread (ATS) run, the 2nd-best active streak in the USFL after the Memphis Showboats saw a 6-0 ATS run end Saturday.

The Generals started off at 2-1 SU/ATS this season, but New Jersey is in freefall since Week 4, going 0-5 SU/ATS. The defense was a strength early on, but the Gens have allowed 24 or more points in 3 of the last 5 games.

These teams met in Detroit in Week 5, and the Stars picked up a 24-21 victory, winning outright as a 6.5-point underdog to kick off their current 4-0 ATS run. The Over (43.5) narrowly came through in that game, too, kicking off a 4-1 streak.

Stars vs. Generals picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 27, Generals 19

Moneyline

PHILADELPHIA (-135) is an amazing value at this price point, especially if you don’t want to fiddle around with the points.

The Stars are the best of the lot in the North Division, and Philly disposed of New Jersey (+115) in the first meeting in Detroit by a 24-21 score. That loss really seemed to kick the Gens into a tailspin. New Jersey has lost 5 straight overall, including 2 of 3 games by 6 or more points since Philadelphia took the wind out of its sails.

Against the spread

PHILADELPHIA -2.5 (-105) is a strong value in this rematch. It won by 3 points in the 1st meeting, and Philly has won 2 of the last 3 games by 6 or more points, covering 4 straight outings. The Stars have the longest current cover streak in the USFL, and it isn’t ending in Canton on Sunday night.

Over/Under

OVER 43.5 (-110) is the lean, but go lightly. This is a big number with the Generals struggling on offense lately.

The Generals have managed just 16.0 PPG in the last 3 outings, which should give Over bettors pause. However, Jersey has also allowed 24 or more points in 3 of the last 5 outings, including 25.0 PPG in the last 2 contests.

The Stars defense has coughed up 29.0 PPG in the last 2 games, so we should see some decent fireworks in the USFL Week 9 finale.

New Orleans Breakers at Memphis Showboats odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Michigan Panthers vs. New Jersey Generals odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Orleans Breakers (5-3) meet the Memphis Showboats (5-3) Saturday in a key Week 9 USFL South Division game at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET (NBC/Peacock). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Breakers vs. Showboats odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Breakers snapped a 3-game losing streak with a 24-20 win on a neutral field in Birmingham over the Michigan Panthers last weekend.

New Orleans narrowly covered a 3-point spread in Week 8, too, halting an 0-3 run against the spread (ATS). The Over (43.5) also cashed narrowly, by just a half-point, stopping a 4-0 Under run for New Orleans.

The Showboats struggled out of the gate, going 0-3 to start the season. However, they have pushed themselves back into the playoff picture in the South Division with 5 consecutive wins and 6 straight covers.

Defense has been a huge reason for the turnaround as Memphis allowed 33.0 points per game (PPG) in the opening 3 losses, and just 11.2 PPG since. The Under has cashed in 5 in a row for the Boats.

Breakers at Showboats picks and predictions

Prediction

Showboats 19, Breakers 16

Moneyline

MEMPHIS (-115) is the play at the Liberty Bowl Saturday afternoon as this Showboats team is really steaming along. The defense has been tremendous lately, and the offense has been good for 22 or more points in 5 of the past 6 outings.

New Orleans barely scraped by a poor Michigan team last weekend, and it suffered a 17-10 loss against these ‘Boats in Birmingham in Week 5. With the Showboats at home, the pro-Memphis crowd should get the Showboats enough energy for a 2nd straight win in as many tries against the Breakers.

Against the spread

MEMPHIS (-115) is a pick ’em, and there is no difference playing the moneyline or the spread in this particular matchup.

Over/Under

UNDER 42.5 (-110) might be my favorite play on the board.

The defenses for both of these teams have been stout lately, with New Orleans allowing 20 or fewer points in 4 of the past 5, including the first meeting with Memphis. The Memphis D has yielded just 56 total points in the past 5 games, unsurprisingly cashing the Under in each of the outings.

We had a total of just 27 points in the first matchup in Week 5 in Birmingham. Expect another defensive slog.

Memphis Showboats vs. New Jersey Generals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Memphis Showboats vs. New Jersey Generals odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Memphis Showboats (4-3) face the New Jersey Generals (2-5) Saturday in a Week 8 USFL game at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Showboats vs. Generals odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Showboats opened the season with 3 consecutive losses, and 2 non-covers, and the defense was in shambles. In the first 3 weekends, Memphis allowed 33.0 PPG on defense. The Boats have won 4 in a row, while covering 5 straight, and Memphis has turned it around on D, allowing a total of 40 points during the win streak. The Under has cashed in 4 in a row, too.

The Generals opened with a respectable 2-1 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) mark, but it is in an 0-4 SU/ATS freefall. The offense hasn’t been clicking, averaging just 17.5 PPG during the skid, while the defense has been trying to hang tough with 21.3 PPG.

Showboats vs. Generals picks and predictions

Prediction

Showboats 25, Generals 21

Moneyline

MEMPHIS (+105) is the better play, as the Showboats have been playing tremendous football lately. The combination of timely offense and lockdown defense has been difficult to beat since a slow start.

While New Jersey (-125) is favored, there is really no good reason for that. The Generals have struggled lately, especially as a favorite, going 0-3 SU/ATS in the past 3 weekends. Meanwhile, Memphis has excelled as a ‘dog, winning outright and covering in each of the past 5 weekends.

Against the spread

MEMPHIS +2 (-110) is worth playing over the moneyline, only if you are dead set on New Jersey -2 (-110) winning this game by exactly 1 point. If not, it makes no sense to play the Boats catching these little bit of points. It’s a better value to take Memphis straight up.

Over/Under

The OVER 41.5 (-110) might be the best play on the board.

Yes, the Memphis defense has allowed just 10.0 PPG in the last 4 games, cashing the Under in each outing. However, New Jersey is a little more giving on defense, allowing 20 or more points, and the Boats should show out against the Jersey D.

Michigan Panthers vs. New Jersey Generals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Michigan Panthers vs. New Jersey Generals odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Michigan Panthers (2-4) meet the New Jersey Generals (2-4) Sunday in a Week 7 USFL game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Generals odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Panthers won and covered the 1st 2 games, but they’re 0-4 straight-up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) since Week 3. Michigan suffered its 1st loss of the season in a 28-13 Week 3 loss to New Jersey at Ford Field.

The Generals were unable to follow up that victory with much success, going 0-3 SU/ATS in the last 3 outings. The offense has struggled, averaging just 16.0 PPG after posting a season-best 28 points against Michigan in Week 3.

New Jersey posted 377 total yards of offense in that Week 3 matchup in Michigan, while the Panthers managed just 265 yards. The Generals averaged 8.8 yards per play, too, while the Panthers were good for just 4.1 yards per play.

The Under has cashed in 5 consecutive games for the Panthers, while going 5-1 overall for the Generals.

Panthers vs. Generals picks and predictions

Prediction

Generals 22, Panthers 13

Moneyline

New Jersey (-275) will cost you nearly 3 times your potential return. While the Generals topped Michigan (+220) on its home field back in Week 3, it’s still a rather risky bet. Jersey has dropped and failed to cover the last 3 games.

PASS.

Against the spread

NEW JERSEY -6.5 (-110) is worth playing lightly, as the wager comes with risk. The bad news is that the Generals have failed to cover the last 3 games. The good news is that the most recent cover came against Michigan +6.5 (-110) in Week 3, and that was at Ford Field.

The Generals should be able to run the ball well, whittling down the Panthers defense to a nub.

Over/Under

UNDER 39.5 (-110) is a bit risky, as this is a low, low number. In fact, it’s the first total in the USFL below 40 since Week 2.

However, the Generals offense has cobbled together just 16.0 PPG on offense in the last 3 weekends, while allowing 15.2 PPG across the previous 5 outings.

The Panthers have totaled just 43 points on offense in the 4-game freefall, or just 10.8 PPG. The defense has been fairly giving, yielding 23 or more points in each of the 4 outings. However, this game is unlikely to wander into the 40’s or higher.

Generals vs. Gamblers picks and predictions

Prediction

Gamblers 24, Generals 20

Moneyline

The Generals only allow 17.4 points per game, but have lost 2 straight while the Gamblers have been rolling since starting the season 0-2. The Gamblers have won 3 games in a row and have averaged 32.7 points per game in the winning streak. Ride the hot hand for a big payout on the upset.

BET GAMBLERS (+180).

Against the spread

The Gamblers’ 2 losses this season were by at least a touchdown while the Generals’ 2 wins this season were both by at least 15 points, But expecting the Gamblers to pick up the outright win, there is no need to bet them on the spread because of the much better payout on the moneyline.

PASS.

Over/Under

Three of the Gamblers’ games this season have had over 50 total points. The Generals have not yet had a game with more than 43 points.

BET UNDER 48.5 (-115).

The Stars, who opened the season with a 27-23 win, have dropped their last 3 games. Last week, they were blown out 41-16 by the Houston Gamblers despite entering the game as 2.5-point favorites.

New Orleans Breakers vs. New Jersey Generals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Orleans Breakers vs. New Jersey Generals odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Orleans Breakers (3-0) and New Jersey Generals (2-1) meet Sunday for a Week 4 USFL game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET (NBC/Peacock). The Breakers have been on fire to start, winning and covering each of the 1st 3 outings. That includes an impressive 45-31 road win as 6-point underdogs against the defending champ Birmingham Stallions last weekend. The offense is averaging a healthy 41.5 PPG across the last 2 outings, while the defense has allowed 31 points in each game.

The Generals scored an impressive 28-13 road win against the Michigan Panthers at Ford Field in Week 3, covering for the 2nd straight outing. The Under has cashed in each of the last 3 outings, allowing just 16 total points in the last 2 contests.

Breakers vs. Generals picks and predictions

Prediction

Breakers 29, Generals 25

Moneyline

The unbeaten BREAKERS (-150) are a decent moderate favorite in this neutral-site battle, if you don’t want to fiddle around with the points and wish to just pick a winner straight up.

New Orleans has been on fire out of the game, although the Generals (+125) have been pretty sharp over the last 2 games, especially defensively.

Against the spread

The BREAKERS -2.5 (-110) are an attractive play as long as this stays under a flat 3 or 3 and a hook.

New Orleans has covered all 3 of its games to date, although the Generals +2.5 (-110) have been solid on defense in the last 2 weekends.

Still, I like the overall body of work better for the Breakers, and I think they’re more balanced on offense. The Gens have a strong rushing attack, but it remains to be seen if it can move the ball through the air when needed.

Over/Under

OVER 44.5 (-110) has been the go-to play when the Breakers are involved. They can score plenty of points, and New Orleans has allowed 31 points in each of the last 2 contests.

There is risk here, however, as the Generals have cashed the Under in all 3 games to date. Still, the Stallions put up 27 on this defense, and their offense is on par with the Breakers, if not a little less. I expect New Orleans will be able to solve New Jersey, and flirt with 30, and the Gens should find plenty of open spaces against a giving Breakers D, too.

New Jersey Generals at Michigan Panthers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Jersey Generals vs. Michigan Panthers odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Jersey Generals (1-1) and the Michigan Panthers (2-0) meet Sunday for a Week 3 USFL game at Ford Field in Detroit. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Generals vs. Panthers odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Generals opened with a 27-10 loss on the road against the Birmingham Stallions, failing to cover as a 5-point underdog as the Under (39.5) connected. New Jersey rebounded last weekend with a 20-3 win on a neutral field in Canton against the Pittsburgh Maulers, cashing the Under (36.5) in rather easy fashion while covering as 5-point favorites.

The Panthers opened with an impressive 29-13 win over the Houston Gamblers, while topping the Philadelphia Stars 24-10 in Week 2. Michigan was an underdog in both outings, but won outright while splitting the Over/Under in the 2 games.

Generals vs. Panthers picks and predictions

Prediction

Panthers 24, Generals 15

Moneyline

The Panthers (-200) play their 1st home game of the season, and the crowd at Ford Field should be pumped up.

PASS.

Against the spread

The PANTHERS -4.5 (-110) are the play in their home debut, as Michigan has shown tremendous balance through the first 2 games. It can run the ball, and pass, while also showing a lot of flash on defense. In fact, Michigan has posted 4 INTs with 6 forced fumbles, while tying for the league lead with 8 sacks.

The Generals +4.5 (-110) are a top-notch rushing unit, but a highly imbalanced offense. New Jersey’s rushing attack will be a good test for a Michigan run D which ranks 1st in the USFL with just 71.5 rushing yards allowed.

Over/Under

UNDER 42.5 (-110) is a decent here.

The Panthers defense is top-notch, and won’t allow much against the Generals. New Jersey can run the ball well, but isn’t much in the pass department. It will struggle to put up points on a well-rounded Panthers D.

New Jersey Generals vs. Pittsburgh Maulers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Jersey Generals vs. Pittsburgh Maulers odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Jersey Generals (0-1) and the Pittsburgh Maulers (0-1) meet Sunday for a Week 2 USFL game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET (NBC/Peacock). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Generals vs. Maulers odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Generals opened the season with a disappointing 27-10 road loss against the Birmingham Stallions, as they didn’t come close to covering a 5-point number as the Under (39.5) cashed.

New Jersey did some good things, though, as the Generals actually outgained the Stallions in total yards of offense 361-310, while posting a respectable 5.8 yards per play. Jersey also racked up 197 rushing yards, and 6.6 yards per rush, but it did lose 2 fumbles, and were minus-1 in turnover differential.

The Maulers were on the short end of a 22-15 setback against the New Orleans Breakers in Birmingham. While the score appears to indicate it was a close game, Pittsburgh had just 156 total yards of offense, while allowing New Orleans to post 332 total yards. The Maulers cobbled together just 72 yards through the air, too, while allowing 270 passing yards.

Generals vs. Maulers picks and predictions

Prediction

Generals 22, Maulers 15

Moneyline

The Generals (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s just a little too expensive for a standalone play.

PASS, and look to the spread for this game instead.

Against the spread

The GENERALS -5.5 (-110) are worth backing in this Week 2 matchup, as New Jersey has RB Darius Victor, who can score any time he touches the football. The USFL’s leading rusher last season started hot in Week 1, posting 84 yards on just 8 totes, and QB De’Andre Johnson can also tuck it and go. He had 45 yards on 7 attempts last weekend.

The Maulers +5.5 (-110) will have their hands full trying to corral the Generals on the ground.

Over/Under

OVER 36.5 (-110) is the lean, ever so slightly, but go rather lightly.

The Maulers allowed 22 points last week against New Orleans, while the Generals allowed 27 points against Birmingham. Both offenses struggled, but should fine a little more success this weekend against more giving defensive units.
