Breakers at Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 24, Breakers 20

Moneyline

The Stallions come in riding a 5-game winning streak and have not scored fewer than 24 points in the streak. They have scored at least 20 points every game, finishing the year 1st in yards (332.6 YPG) and points (28.7 PG), 2nd in passing (217.1 YPG) and 3rd in rushing (115.5 YPG).

The Breakers finished 2nd in scoring (23.7 PPG), but scored more than 24 only once in their final 7 games. They were No. 1 in total defense (272.0 YPG) and scoring defense (18.4 PPG), but allowed Birmingham to score 24-plus points in both regular-season matchups.

I like the Stallions to win and the moneyline isn’t a bad bet but the spread is a better value.

PASS.

Against the spread

All 8 of the Stallions’ wins were by at least 3 points while all 3 of the Breakers’ losses were by at least 4 points.

The Stallions have not scored fewer than 24 points over the last 5 weeks and scored at least 27 in 4 of them. The Breakers reached 24 points once over the final 7 weeks.

BET STALLIONS -3 (-110).

Over/Under

The 1st matchup between them in Week 3 had 76 points, but the Week 7 had only 44 total points.

The last 3 games for Birmingham and 4 of the last 6 have had totals of more than 45 points. The Breakers have not had a game reach 45 total points since Week 3 against the Stallions.

BET UNDER 45 (-110).

The South Division champion Birmingham Stallions (9-1) face the New Orleans Breakers (6-4) Saturday in the second USFL semifinal of the day. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Breakers vs. Stallions odds with USFL picks, predictions and bets.

Breakers vs. Stallions key injuries

Breakers

  • QB Kyle Sloter (knee) questionable
  • WR Shawn Poindexter (ankle, hamstring) questionable

Stallions

  • OL Darius Harper (knee) questionable
  • QB Alex McGough (ankle) questionable
  • WR Jeff Thomas (hamstring) questionable

Breakers vs. Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 21, Breakers 17

Money line

The Stallions beat the Breakers in both matchups in the regular season, 22-13 in Week 3 and 10-9 in Week 9.

The Breakers lost 2 of their final 3 games.

From start to finish this season, the Stallions have been the best team in the league. They were the only team to beat the North champion Generals (9-1).

However, this is a PASS because the -210 price is too expensive.

Against the spread

Two of the Breakers’ 4 losses were by more than 5 points. They lost their 1st game against the Stallions by 9 points.

Five of the Stallions’ 9 victories were by more than 5 points. Their final 3 games were decided by 1, 2 and 3 points.

Look for a lower-scoring, tight game to determine the winner here.

Take the BREAKERS +5 (-110).

Over/Under

Six of the Stallions’ games and each of their last 4 had fewer than 45 total points.

The 2 games between the Stallions and Breakers had totals of 35 and 19.

Nine of the Breakers’ 10 games had totals of fewer than 45 points this season.

Take UNDER 44.5 (-112).

New Orleans Breakers vs. Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s New Orleans Breakers vs. Birmingham Stallions Week 8 odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Orleans Breakers (5-2) battle the Birmingham Stallions (7-0) Saturday at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Breakers vs. Stallions odds with USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Breakers are looking to clinch a playoff spot, but it will be a tall order trying to hand the Stallions their first loss of the season. New Orleans also needs Tampa Bay to fall to Houston Sunday.

The Stallions are already one of two teams to clinch a playoff spot. Birmingham is averaging 26.9 PPG while riding an impressive rushing attack with 145.4 yards per game.

The Stallions topped the Breakers 22-13 back in Week 3 at Protective Stadium in Birmingham.

Breakers vs. Stallions key injuries

Breakers

  • TE E.J. Bibbs (head) probable
  • WR Johnnie Dixon (illness) probable
  • RB Ezra Gray (illness) probable
  • WR Marquis McClain (hamstring) probable
  • QB Shea Patterson (not injury related) out
  • WR Shawn Poindexter (ankle) questionable
  • RB Larry Rose (not injury related) out

Stallions

  • TE Cary Angeline (not injury related) out
  • WR Victor Bolden (hamstring) out
  • QB Montell Cozart (not injury related) out
  • WR Jeffrey Thomas (not injury related) out
  • WR Marlon Williams (knee) probable

Breakers vs. Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Breakers 26, Stallions 23

Money line

The BREAKERS (+133) are looking to clinch a spot in the postseason, while the Stallions (-165) are already in and might not be quite as hungry. In addition, the loss of WR Victor Bolden is a big one for this offense. Although, it’s nice that the team can afford to let him slowly recover and get ready for the playoffs.

Against the spread

The BREAKERS +3 (-110) are worth playing with the points if you don’t trust them straight up, although obviously playing NOLA on the money line is a much better value.

Over/Under

The OVER 44.5 (-108) is the play here as both of these teams have explosive playmakers on offense. While Bolden’s absence hurts, RBs C.J. Marable and Bo Scarbrough are studs. Former Louisiana Tech standout QB J’Mar Smith has been very capable, too.

For the Breakers, QB Kyle Sloter leads the league with 1,499 passing yards and 214.1 yards per game. WRs Jonathan Adams and Johnnie Dixon have been the beneficiaries of Sloter’s strong play, and NOLA can score rather quickly via the air.
