New Mexico State at Louisiana Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s New Mexico State at Louisiana Tech odds and lines, with college football expert picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New Mexico State Aggies (5-3, 3-1 Conference USA) and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (3-5, 2-2) are lined up for a Tuesday night tussle.
Kickoff at Joe Aillet Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the New Mexico State vs. Louisiana Tech odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

New Mexico State has won 3 straight games. The most recent of those was a 28-7 win at UTEP last Wednesday. The Aggies covered as 2.5-point favorites in that game and have won 3 in a row against the spread (ATS). NMSU runs 1 of the slowest-tempo offenses in FBS, but the Aggies are averaging a robust 7.7 yards per play (4th in FBS).

The Bulldogs last played Oct. 10 (31-23 loss to Middle Tennessee), and they sport more of a middle-of-the-road offense. Their 5.8 YPP ranks 64th. Louisiana Tech has lost 4 of its last 5 games.

Tuesday’s contest in northern Louisiana will mark the 1st meeting between the Aggies and Bulldogs since 2012.

New Mexico State at Louisiana Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

New Mexico State 31, Louisiana Tech 24

Moneyline

New Mexico State has hit the moneyline in 9 of its last 12 games (+16.75 units, 35% ROI).

The Aggies have the advantage in this one with regard to how their offense stays on schedule. LTU is solid against the run, and that fits well against an NMSU strength, but the Aggies can also move the ball through the air, as evidenced by a respectable 237.5 yard-per-game average in passing gains.

The Bulldogs defense has often benefited from a bend-don’t-break ability to slow opponents inside its own 40. But look for New Mexico State — a team on a better trend line — to have success on 1st downs and create better scoring chances.

Consider putting half-a-unit on the AGGIES (+120) and a half-unit on …

Against the spread

… the AGGIES +2.5 (-105) as a bit of insurance.

NMSU is an overall moderate lean here against a Louisiana Tech squad that may well exhibit some rust in its return to play in Ruston.

Over/Under

The Aggies defense can fall off schedule as much as its offense stays on. A decent back-and-forth scoring spiral could well develop in this one. The Over is a lean but there is a decent chance of a double-digit breeze tamping down the passing a bit. PASS.

New Mexico State at UTEP odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New Mexico State Aggies at UTEP Miners odds and lines, with college football expert picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New Mexico State Aggies (4-3, 2-1 Conference USA) and UTEP Miners (2-5, 1-2) tussle in a midweek showdown in El Paso. The Wednesday contest at the Sun Bowl kicks off at 9 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the New Mexico State vs. UTEP odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

New Mexico State beat Sam Houston State 27-13 last Wednesday, covering as a 4-point favorite and winning its 2nd straight game. NMSU has yielded just 23.1 points per game, an average that ranks 3rd in CUSA. The Aggies have been especially stingy in the red zone, allowing TDs on just 48.3% of opponent trips.

The Miners snapped a 4-game losing skid with a 27-14 win at Florida International last Wednesday (as a +3.5 underdog). Texas-El Paso bolted out of the gate with 21 1st-quarter points in that game.  The Miners also leveraged a plus-2 in turnover margin. That was a flip of the script for a team that had been a minus-8 heading in to that contest.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 47.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

New Mexico State at UTEP picks and predictions

Prediction

New Mexico State 31, UTEP 24

Moneyline

PASS. Peg the true odds as being drowned by the juice.

Against the spread

The NMSU yards-per-play advantage is substantial, especially when the Aggies offense is on the field. Peg UTEP’s pass defense being significantly worse than what one might see in a ranking of yards allowed (204.7, 36th FBS). But there is enough hidden value in the Miners offense that the 3-and-a-hook carries little value. PASS.

Over/Under

The trends on both sides are full of Unders, but the play here is the zag to that zig.

The Miners have had 3 games where they’ve been undone by turnovers, short fields and 3rd-down inefficiency. Some better offensive signals lurk below the surface.

There has been an uptick in New Mexico State’s throwing percentage in its play mix. Its pace of play is on the slower side for the season as a whole but up quite a bit over recent games.

Look for both teams to move the ball on a good-weather evening in El Paso. FanDuel Sportsbook offers the better pricing here. TAKE THE OVER 47.5 (-110).

FIU at New Mexico State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s FIU at New Mexico State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The FIU Golden Panthers (3-2, 0-2 CUSA) and the New Mexico State Aggies (2-3, 0-1) meet Wednesday at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces, N.M. for a Conference USA clash. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the FIU vs. New Mexico State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Golden Panthers were smacked back down to Earth last time out on Sept. 23, falling 38-6 at home against Liberty. That setback halted a 3-game win streak, including covers in the previous 2, both against FBS opponents. The Under is 4-1 in 5 games, including both games inside Conference USA.

The Aggies have alternated losses and wins all season, losing last time out at Hawaii on Sept. 23 by a 20-17 score, pushing at most shops as the Under (55.5) comfortably connected. New Mexico State has hit the Under in the past 3 games, after opening with a pair of Over results.

FIU at New Mexico State picks and predictions

Prediction

New Mexico State 29, FIU 23

Moneyline

New Mexico State (-230) will cost you nearly 2 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s just too risky.

FIU (+188) beat UConn in their most recent road game on Sept. 16, winning 24-17 as a 7-point underdog. It also covered against Louisiana Tech in a 22-17 loss in the opener. However, the Golden Panthers struggle to stop the run, allowing 214.0 yards per game, while yielding 447.8 total yards overall.

On the flip side, the Aggies have rolled up 202.2 yards per game on the ground, and that’s the biggest key in determining a winner in this game.

Against the spread

FIU +6.5 (-115) is a strong play, but play it lightly. If FIU was to get to a flat 7, or an even more favorable 7 and a hook, go a little more aggressively then.

The Golden Panthers have covered both games on the road this season. The Aggies are just 1-1 ATS in 2 games at home, while going 2-1-1 ATS in the past 4 games overall.

Over/Under

OVER 48.5 (-110) is the play, but go very lightly.

The Under has hit in 3 in a row for New Mexico State, as the defense has been much better lately. However, QB Diego Pavia and the offense has been much improved. He has completed 63.9% of his pass attempts for 1,073 yards, 10 TD and 4 INT, and he also leads the team with 270 rushing yards.

The Aggies will be able to move the ball at will against the leaky defense of the Golden Panthers. FIU has also cashed the Under in the past 2 games, but it has yielded 38 or more points in 2 of the past 3 games, too. This game should resemble FIU’s 46-39 win against North Texas, as neither team is very good defensively, but it has capable offense.

Quick Lane Bowl: New Mexico State vs. Bowling Green odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s New Mexico State vs. Bowling Green odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Mexico State Aggies (6-6) and Bowling Green Falcons (6-6) meet in the Quick Lane Bowl Monday at Ford Field in Detroit. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the New Mexico State vs. Bowling Green odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Aggies secured bowl eligibility in grand fashion, thumping fellow bowl team Liberty, 49-14, in their place Nov. 26, while posting an FBS win over Valparaiso Dec. 3, its only win over an FCS team, securing a postseason bid.

The good news is that the Aggies are bowling for the first time since 2017, a 26-20 overtime win in the Arizona Bowl over Utah State. It’s just its second bowl since 1960, and they’ll play someone other than USU in the bowl for the first time since 1959.

There were unconfirmed reports of QB Diego Pavia, the school’s leading passer, of hitting the transfer portal. However, he has been practicing, and trying to recover from a hamstring injury. Head coach Jerry Kill estimated Pavia is about 90 percent, and that he should be good to go barring any setbacks.

Bowling Green was smashed 38-14 at Ohio in the regular-season finale, losing the battle for the East Division title in the process. Instead of going to Detroit for the MAC title game, they’re not there for this game.

Bowling Green had a nice 5-game stretch where it went 4-1 SU, including a 3-game win streak over Miami, Central Michigan and Western Michigan from Oct.15-Nov. 2.

New Mexico State vs. Bowling Green odds

Provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. ET.

  • Moneyline (ML): New Mexico State +140 (bet $100 to win $140) | Bowling Green -160 (bet $160 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): New Mexico State +3 (-106) | Bowling Green -3 (-114)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 48.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

New Mexico State vs. Bowling Green picks and predictions

Prediction

Bowling Green 26, New Mexico State 24

Moneyline

BOWLING GREEN (-160) is right at my personal limit for a standalone money line bet, although it is certainly not priced out of line if you want to include it in a multi-team parlay.

The bet comes with risk, and New Mexico State (+150) could easily get it done if Pavia’s hamstring is sound. The Aggies could find plenty of open spaces against a Falcons pass defense which allowed 257.7 yards per game, 104th in the country.

Still, this figures to be a pro-Bowling Green crowd, as fans simply need to make a quick hour-plus jaunt up Interstate 75 to Ford Field, and that works in the favor of the Falcons.

Against the spread

NEW MEXICO STATE +3 (-106) is worth playing, even if it settles back down to the open of +3.5. There have been a lot of conflicting reports about Pavia, as some outlets even had him leaving for the transfer portal.

The Las Cruces Sun-News showed Pavia give an interview this week, and he was practicing and apparently gearing up to play, barring any setbacks.

Over/Under

OVER 48.5 (-110) is the lean here, but go lightly.

First off, yes, the game is in Detroit, but it’s controlled environment conditions inside the Ford Field dome. Second, both of these teams are actually excited to be here, which is a rarity for lower-level bowls.

The Over has hit in 4 straight games for New Mexico State, while going 5-2 in the past 7 non-conference games.

The Over is 6-1 in the past 7 neutral-site games, whole going 4-0 in the past 4 outside of the conference and 5-0 in the past 5 bowl appearances, too.

March Madness: New Mexico State vs. Arkansas odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s New Mexico State vs. Arkansas odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions, best bets.

The No. 12 seed New Mexico State Aggies (27-6) and No. 4 seed Arkansas Razorbacks (26-8) meet Saturday for a Midwest Region second-round game of the NCAA Tournament. Tip-off from KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y., is scheduled for 8:40 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico State vs. Arkansas odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Aggies pulled off a 70-63 upset over UConn in the opening round, winning outright as 6-point underdogs as the Over connected. That’s four consecutive covers for New Mexico State.

The Razorbacks, a team that went to the Elite Eight last season, opened with a narrow 75-71 win over Vermont. The 13-seed Catamounts held on for the cover as 4.5-point underdogs. Arkansas cashed the Over, which is now a perfect 7-0 across the past seven outings for the Hogs.

  • Against the spread (ATS): New Mexico State +6.5 (-110) | Arkansas -6.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 138.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

[tipico]

New Mexico State vs. Arkansas odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Arkansas 75, New Mexico State 62

Money line

Arkansas (-300) will cost you three times your potential return, and that’s just a little too expensive despite that the Razorbacks should be able to win this one handily.

PASS.

Against the spread

ARKANSAS -6.5 (-110) is an attractive play here, facing a second consecutive double-digit seed. While the Hogs struggled a bit with Vermont in the opening round it was largely because the Catamounts are a decent shooting team with a solid defense. There is a reason that line was just 4.5 points.

New Mexico State isn’t nearly as gifted offensively, although UConn might beg to differ. NMSU is solid defensively with a 39.2% opponents’ field-goal percentage. However, the Aggies do not have the offensive horses to hang with the Hogs.

Over/Under

The UNDER 138.5 (-110) is the play based on New Mexico State’s solid defensive effort overall on the season and its mediocre offensive showings.

The Under is 25-10 in the past 35 games for the Aggies as underdogs. While the Over has hit in seven in a row for Arkansas, all good things must come to an end. The Razorbacks may have issues against scoring against the solid D of the Aggies.

March Madness: New Mexico State vs. Connecticut odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s New Mexico State vs. Connecticut odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions, best bets.

The No. 12 seed New Mexico State Aggies (26-6) and No. 5 seed Connecticut Huskies (23-9) meet Thursday for a West Region first-round game of the NCAA Tournament. Tip-off from KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y., is scheduled for 6:50 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico State vs. Connecticut odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Aggies of NMSU lost a pair of 2-point games to Chicago State (61-59) and Stephen F. Austin (73-71) Feb. 26 and March 2, respectively, and it certainly didn’t look like this team was NCAA Tournament-worthy. However, the Aggies picked up wins over Grand Canyon (75-70) and Abilene Christian (66-52) to grab wins and covers en route to capturing the WAC Tournament title.

The Huskies of UConn picked up a 62-52 win over Seton Hall before exiting with a 63-60 loss to Villanova in the Big East semifinals. UConn is just 5-6 straight up (SU) in its last 11 games against teams in the NCAA Tournament, while going 2-5-1 against the spread (ATS) in the past eight against teams in the Field of 64.

New Mexico State vs. Connecticut odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

New Mexico State 66, Connecticut 64

Money line

NEW MEXICO STATE (+230) is worth playing for the traditional 12-5 upset we’ve seen so many times over the years in the NCAA Tournament. The Aggies are a solid defensive team which will give F Adama Sanogo, G R.J. Cole and company some major headaches in this tournament opener.

Against the spread

If you don’t trust NEW MEXICO STATE +6.5 (-108) straight up you can take them catching three buckets.

Connecticut enters this one with just two wins in its last four games overall and is 3-10-1 ATS across its last 14 games overall. The Aggies allowed just 63.2 PPG during the season, good for 32nd in the country. Look for a low-scoring cover by the lower seed.

Over/Under

The UNDER 131.5 (-108) is the lean, ever so slightly.

New Mexico State was strong defensively, while UConn yielded just 65.7 PPG. The Under is 25-9 in the past 34 games as an underdog for NMSU and has cashed in four in a row for UConn, too. This is going to be a defensive slog with both teams scoring in the 60s.

New Mexico State at Kentucky odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s New Mexico State Aggies at Kentucky Wildcats odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Mexico State Aggies (1-9 Independent) visit the Kentucky Wildcats (7-3, 5-3 SEC) Saturday at Kroger Field in Lexington. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico State vs. Kentucky odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Aggies take a trip to the SEC for the second consecutive weekend after getting walloped (and paid) by Alabama last week. New Mexico State led at Alabama 3-0 before allowing 59 unanswered points in a loss, failing to cover as a 51.5-point underdog.

The Wildcats stopped a three-game losing streak by doubling up lowly Vanderbilt 34-17 in Nashville last Saturday. They still failed to cover and are 0-3 ATS across the past three outings.

New Mexico State at Kentucky odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Kentucky 45, New Mexico State 20

Money line

Kentucky (-10000) will cost you $100 to win $1. The risk for such a low payoff is not wise sports gambling at all.

PASS.

Against the spread

NEW MEXICO STATE +36.5 (-112) will be able to keep this one well within five touchdowns. The Aggies actually have a fairly potent offense, led by QB Jonah Johnson.

The Aggies put up 263.2 passing yards per game to rank 37th in the nation. The problem is that they can’t run the ball worth a lick, and are rather one-dimensional.

The defense is awful, too, and usually gets this team in an early deep hole where there is no sense running the ball anymore. But the Aggies can pass, and Kentucky is just mediocre against the pass, yielding 224.2 yards per game.

The Aggies won’t win, or come close to threatening to do so, but they will get their fair share of points.

Over/Under

The OVER 60.5 (-108) is the best bet in this game. Kentucky has the potential to put up at least 40 points, if not more, as the New Mexico State D has been more than giving this season. But, as mentioned above, the Aggies can sling it, and you can expect a combined total approaching the mid-60’s, or even higher.

New Mexico State at Alabama odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s New Mexico State Aggies at Alabama Crimson Tide odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Mexico State Aggies (1-8) visit the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide (8-1) Saturday in a non-conference tilt at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico State vs. Alabama odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Aggies will collect a check for $1.9 million for being the sacrificial lambs in this late season SEC tradition of facing a week non-conference foe before rivalry week ramps up. New Mexico State has managed a 6-2 ATS mark across the past eight games, covering five times in six games as an underdog dog of 18 or more points.

The Crimson Tide will roll in this tune-up, which is essentially a bye week before finishing off with Arkansas at home and then the Iron Bowl at Auburn Nov. 27. The Tide covered a 45-point number Sept. 25 against Southern Miss in another $1.9M payout but failed to cover the 54 against FCS Mercer Sept. 4.

New Mexico State at Alabama odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 59, New Mexico State 17

Money line

It shouldn’t even have to be said, but Alabama (-10000) will cost you $100 for every $1 won. Just don’t do it.

PASS and focus on the spread.

Against the spread

NEW MEXICO STATE +51.5 (-117) will be able to keep this within seven touchdowns. QB Jonah Johnson and the Aggies offense is somewhat functional. Whether it is early in the game or late during garbage time, this team will find the end zone.

Alabama spanked Western Carolina 66-3 in its most recent late-season guarantee game Nov. 23, 2019. Prior to that, ‘Bama failed to cover a big number against The Citadel in Nov. 2018, and it is just 2-2 ATS in the past four late-season cupcake bashings.

Over/Under

The biggest winner of the day, besides the New Mexico State athletic department, will be those choosing to play OVER 67.5 (-108). The Over is 5-2 in the past seven for NMSU, while going 7-1 in the past eight non-conference home games for Alabama. That includes a 62-10 bashing of New Mexico State in the most recent meeting Sept. 7, 2019.

New Mexico State at Hawaii odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s New Mexico State Aggies at Hawaii Rainbow Warriors odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Mexico State Aggies (1-6, Independent) travel to meet the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (3-4, 1-2 Mountain West) Saturday at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:59 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico State vs. Hawaii odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Aggies have won just once in seven outings this season, but they’re cover kings for bettors. New Mexico State is 5-1 ATS across the past six contests while hitting the Over in four of the previous five.

The Rainbow Warriors lost on the mainland in Nevada, 34-17, snapping a modest two-game win and three-game cover streak. The Under has connected in each of the past four outings for Hawaii.

New Mexico State at Hawaii odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawaii 38, New Mexico State 30

Money line

Hawaii (-850) is a good bet at home in this battle between former WAC combatants. New Mexico State (+550) has a rather powerful offense, but the defense is awful. Still, laying eight and a half times your potential return is risky business.

AVOID.

Against the spread

NEW MEXICO STATE +18.5 (-112) is worth a look, as QB Jonah Johnson and the Aggies offense are powerful enough to be able to compete with many teams. The Aggies haven’t won a lot of games, but they have covered five of the past six.

Over/Under

OVER 62.5 (-107) is the lean in this one. New Mexico State has hit the Over in four of the previous five outings, but it has a lot to do with the defense being so poor.

New Mexico State has allowed 461.6 total yards per game to rank 120th in the nation, and it has coughed up 37.1 points per game to rank 123rd out of 130 FBS teams.

New Mexico State at Nevada odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s New Mexico State at Nevada odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Mexico State Aggies (1-5) travel to meet the Nevada Wolf Pack (3-1) Saturday at Mackay Stadium in Reno for a non-conference battle. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico State vs. Nevada odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The New Mexico State offense looked good last week at San Jose State rolling up 31 points in a six-point loss. They easily covered the 26-point number, and the Aggies are 4-1 ATS across the past five while hitting the Over in three of the previous four.

Nevada went to Boise last week and won outright as four-point ‘dogs, 41-31. After getting tripped up at Kansas State Sept. 18, they used two full weeks to prepare for the Broncos, and they obviously did a good job. The Over has cashed in three straight for the Wolf Pack.

New Mexico State at Nevada odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nevada 45, New Mexico State 20

Money line

You probably shouldn’t have to tell someone not to risk this, but Nevada (-100000) is not worth playing, even though there is virtually no chance they lose this game. Betting huge favorites like this is pure nonsense.

AVOID.

Against the spread

NEW MEXICO STATE +27.5 (-105) isn’t a great team, but QB Jonah Johnson has shown some glimpses of brilliance, and he should be able to lead this offense to a handful of points.

I absolutely love QB Carson Strong of Nevada -27.5 (-120), and he is going to be collecting a paycheck on Sundays in the NFL very soon. But this is a rather high number for a Wolf Pack defense that allows 24.0 PPG and is just so-so defensively.

Over/Under

The OVER 64.5 (-108) is worth a small-unit wager. Nevada has the tools to get into the 40’s rather easily against a very giving New Mexico State side. The risk is with the Aggies, and if they can use last weekend’s performance at San Jose State as a springboard into this game.
