Colorado State at New Mexico odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Colorado State at New Mexico odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado State Rams (8-5) travel to Albuquerque to take on the New Mexico Lobos (12-0) Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET (CBS Sports). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Colorado State at New Mexico odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Colorado State comes into the Mountain West Conference opener after an 8-day layoff. In its last game on Dec. 21, the Rams were outdone by USC 73-64 after a solid 62-60 win against St. Mary’s in its previous outing.

New Mexico, with a notoriously difficult home court in The Pit, comes into this game undefeated and looking to enter the top 25. A win against a solid Colorado State team may not do it, but it will go a long way in the Lobos ability toward a conference title.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Colorado State +5.5 (-105) | New Mexico -5.5 (-115)

Colorado State at New Mexico picks and predictions

Prediction

New Mexico 84, Colorado State 73

Moneyline

PASS.

If you want to use New Mexico in a wager at -270, the only way to do so would be in a parlay with other legs. Otherwise, the -270 is too big to want to make a wager on.

Against the spread

BET NEW MEXICO -5.5 (-115).

The Pit is extremely difficult for teams to come into and win and it’s a big advantage for the Lobos in this game. Colorado State, coming off a loss in its last game, will want to get back on track but the environment it will be walking into does not bode well for them.

The Lobos will win this game comfortably and -5.5 (-115) is my favorite play.

Over/Under

Bet OVER 150.5 (-115).

Both teams are neutral when it comes to their totals. Colorado state is 5-6-1 to the over while New Mexico is 6-5. With this being the 1st game out of the break, both teams will be well rested and ready to run. Although I can see this game going in direction when it comes to the total, I will bet on the Over hitting. Take Over 150.5 (-115).

New Mexico at Colorado State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s New Mexico at Colorado State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Mexico Lobos (2-9, 0-7 Mountain West) travel to Colorado Springs to battle the Colorado State Rams (2-9, 2-5) Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around  New Mexico vs. Colorado State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Coach Jay Norvell came to Colorado State from Nevada with hopes of propelling the Rams to the top of the Mountain West. He knew a tough road was ahead. This season has still been far more disappointing then even he imagined as Colorado State has struggled to a 2-9 record and includes a 17-14 loss to the Nevada team he left.

New Mexico comes in winless in conference and only having scored 80 points in those 7 conference games. At 2-9 as well, both teams are in the bottom 20 in power rankings of the 131 Div. I football programs and this will be a game to forget in the final week of the football season.

New Mexico at Colorado State picks and predictions

Prediction

Colorado State 17, New Mexico 10

Moneyline

PASS.

If you need to wager on this game, do not make it a ML wager as -300 on Colorado State is too high and +240 on New Mexico is not worth the value with the Lobos being winless in conference.

Against the spread

Off the board.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 35 (-109)

With both teams being terrible on offense, there is not much to say about this number. New Mexico averages 11.4 points in conference games and Colorado State averages 14. A low scoring game will be played in Colorado Springs. Despite the extremely small number, I still like Under 35 (-109) as my favorite play.

New Mexico at Air Force odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s New Mexico at Air Force odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Mexico Lobos (2-7, 0-5 MWC) meet the Air Force Falcons (6-3, 2-3) Saturday at Falcon Stadium in USAF Academy, Colo. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (CBSSN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the New Mexico vs. Air Force odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Lobos were dusted 27-10 and failed to cover as 14.5-point underdogs on the road against Utah State last week, dropping their 6th consecutive game, while going 1-5 ATS during the skid. The Lobos have scored 10 or fewer points in 3 straight games, and 14 or fewer points in 5 of the past 6 games overall.

The Falcons scratched out a 13-7 win over Army last week in a neutral-site game, earning bowl eligibility in the process. Air Force has alternated wins and losses across the past 5 games while going just 1-4 ATS during the stretch.

New Mexico at Air Force picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 31, New Mexico 6

Moneyline

Air Force (-2500) will cost you 25 times your potential return, meaning a $100 wager will net you a profit of just $4. That’s too much risk for not enough reward.

AVOID.

Against the spread

AIR FORCE -21 (-113) is worth playing lightly, although there is some risk backing a team that managed just 13 points last weekend.

Still, the Falcons rank 1st in the nation with 329.6 rushing yards per game, while ranking 1st in the country in passing defense with just 151.7 yards per game allowed. In addition, USAFA is 7th in the nation in both total yards (273.6) and points per game (15.7) allowed. UNM will have difficulty doing anything offensively here.

Over/Under

UNDER 37.5 (-109) is a decent play here, even though a total in the 30s is super low for this day and age.

There are a handful of things working against Over bettors here. First off, Air Force’s defense is legit, and New Mexico will have a whale of a time trying to cobble together any offense. The Lobos have averaged just 9.7 PPG in the past 3 games, and that’s against New Mexico State, Fresno State and Utah State, teams with OK defenses, but not lockdown versions.

New Mexico is actually somewhat serviceable on defense, and Air Force will not be able to pile up a ton of points, either, especially since it almost always runs the ball and passes are few and far between.

Boise State at New Mexico odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Boise State at New Mexico odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boise State Broncos (0-1) and New Mexico Lobos (1-0) meet at University Stadium Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Boise State vs. New Mexico odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Boise State scored all of its points in the second half of a 34-17 loss at the Oregon State Beavers last Saturday. The Broncos received the offensive spark after bringing in backup QB Taylen Green, who passed for 155 yards but ran for 102 yards with 2 TDs, including a 74-yard score in the 3rd quarter.

New Mexico blew out the FCS Maine Black Bears 41-0 Saturday. Following a scoreless opening quarter, the Lobos scored 3 touchdowns before halftime. RB Sherod White (13 carries, 58 yards) ran 4 yards for the first TD, while RB Luke Wysong (6 carries, 43 yards; 3 catches, 51 yards) scored the next 2 for a 21-0 lead. The defense held the Bears to 118 total yards.

Boise State is 4-0 against the spread (ATS) in its last 4 games after failing to cover.

In the last 5 head-to-head meetings, Boise State is 4-1 ATS vs. New Mexico.

Boise State at New Mexico picks and predictions

Prediction

Boise State 31, New Mexico 10

Money line

PASS.

While the Broncos (-1100) should win by margin, betting $1,100 to only win $100 is not worth the risk.

Against the spread

Boise State coach Andy Avalos has not confirmed which quarterback will start Friday.

After Broncos starting QB Hank Bachmeier was pulled Saturday, the 4th-year quarterback should have extra motivation to run up the score if he starts. Bachmeier should be comfortable vs. New Mexico after leading Boise State to a 37-0 win last November in the previous head-to-head meeting.

If Bachmeier starts, BET BOISE STATE -17.5 (-108).

Over/Under

Two strong trends point toward the Under.

The Under is 6-0 in Boise State’s last 6 games following an ATS loss and 4-0 in the last 4 vs. New Mexico. The Lobos should have a much tougher time scoring in this matchup than they did vs. the FCS-member  Bears.

BET UNDER 44.5 (-112).

Colorado State at New Mexico odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Colorado State at New Mexico odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado State Rams (20-3, 10-3 MWC) visit the New Mexico Lobos (11-14, 3-8) Thursday at The Pit in Albuquerque, N.M. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (on FS1). Below, we look at the Colorado State vs. New Mexico odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Rams picked up their 20th victory of the season in a 77-74 overtime win at Boise State. Colorado State has won four straight outings, while covering each of its past three games.

The Lobos have posted three wins in a row, while going 9-2-1 ATS across the past 12 games overall. That includes UNM’s 80-74 near-miss at Colorado State in the first meeting Jan. 19, easily covering a 12.5-point number in Fort Collins, Colo.

Colorado State at New Mexico odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Colorado State 78, New Mexico 73

Money line

Colorado State (-320) will cost you nearly three-and-a-half times your potential return, and that’s just too risky on the road against a New Mexico (+250) side that is very tough at home.

PASS.

Against the spread

Taking NEW MEXICO +7.5 (-115) on its home hardwood is the way to go. Colorado State -7.5 (-107) has been outstanding this season and is headed for the NCAA Tournament. UNM has been hot at home, including a 75-66 win against conference contender Wyoming last time out as a 5.5-point underdog. The Lobos have won four of the past five games overall and might be playing their best ball of the season.

Over/Under

The UNDER 154.5 (-115) is the lean in this Mountain West tussle. The Under is 5-2 in the past seven for UNM as an underdog, while the Under has hit in 11 of the past 16 games overall for Colorado State. The Under is also 10-4 in the past 14 games for the Rams as a favorite.

New Mexico at Colorado State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s New Mexico at Colorado State odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Mexico Lobos (7-10, 0-4 MWC) and No. 23 Colorado State Rams (13-1, 3-1) meet Wednesday night in Fort Collins, Colo. Tip-off at Moby Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico vs. Colorado State odds and lines and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

New Mexico heads into this game on a run of four straight losses. UNM does well to take care of the ball at a fast-pace tempo, but the Lobos have struggled mightily on the boards and in sending opponents to the free-throw line. New Mexico is 1-6 since Dec. 12. Over that stretch, the Lobos have been a minus-6.5 on the boards, and foes have attempted 26.0 free throws per game. UNM is 1-5 away from Albuquerque.

The Rams have won two straight games after being blitzed by 30 points on Jan. 8. Colorado State was bested by San Diego State, 79-49, in that game. The Mountain West’s top 3-point shooting team (39.2%) went just 3-for-20 from distance against the Aztecs. CSU is undefeated (8-0) at home.

New Mexico at Colorado State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Colorado State 82, New Mexico 68

Money line

AVOID. A lot of juice to drown in here.

Against the spread

The Rams are 0-4 ATS in their last four games against teams with a losing straight-up record.

New Mexico has been wildly inconsistent, and it hasn’t showed the type of shooting touch — inside or outside the arc — needed to stay within 10-to-12 points in a tough road game. But 16.5 is a different story.

Peg this contest as being ripe for some gravity in the numbers on both sides. And one played with fewer possessions than what season averages show.

TAKE NEW MEXICO +16.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Look to shade the Under here, but only if the total climbs a point or two. Otherwise, a PASS is suggested.

Colorado State at New Mexico odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Colorado State at New Mexico odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado State Rams (2-3, 1-0 MWC) and New Mexico Lobos (2-4, 0-2) meet for a Saturday 7 p.m. ET game at Dreamstyle Stadium in Albuquerque, N.M. Below, we look at the Colorado State vs. New Mexico odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Colorado State is coming off a solid 32-14 home win against San Jose State. The Rams controlled the contest throughout and outgained the Spartans, 449 yards to 267. Despite playing a pair of Power-5 teams thus far (Vanderbilt, Iowa), CSU ranks 36th in the nation in total defense (328.8 yards per game).

The Lobos have dropped four straight after starting the season 2-0. New Mexico has had all kinds of problems on offense, where it ranks 125th in total yards (282.7 per game) and 128th in points (15.2 per game). Louisiana-Monroe has been worse than UNM in converting on third downs (26.1%).

Colorado State at New Mexico odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Colorado State 31, New Mexico 21

Money line

In a series that dates back to 1935, its been all-CSU of late. The Rams have won 10 straight games against the Lobos. The last meeting was two years back, and Colorado State won that one, 35-21.

For 2021, this is not the game for the struggling New Mexico offense to get right. The CSU defense creates havoc at the line of scrimmage, and that figures to have the Lobos behind the chains and on their heels in this one.

Betting Colorado State (-420) is too chalky to suggest – so PASS.

Against the spread

The Rams could easily control this game on the scoreboard, in the trenches, and in the hearts and minds of competitors on both sides and still win by a margin of 10-to-14 points. The strengths and weaknesses don’t figure to make for a three-score win with enough probability to make use of this spread. AVOID.

Over/Under

This series has had one listed total under-50 in the last 10 meetings. With a bit of play to a beleaguered Lobos offense but also to CSU’s ability to get ahead and stay ahead, BACK THE OVER 44.5 (-120).

New Mexico at UTEP odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s New Mexico at UTEP odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Mexico Lobos (2-1) meet the UTEP Miners (2-1) Saturday at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. Kickoff is schedule for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico vs. UTEP odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Lobos opened 2-0 SU with narrow wins over FCS Houston Baptist and rival New Mexico State, but they were still feeling good. However, UNM crashed back to Earth with a 34-0 loss at Texas A&M, slipping to 0-3 ATS.

The Miners have also been feeling good, stopping New Mexico State 30-3 in the opener before a 38-28 win over FCS Bethune-Cookman. However, UTEP lost last time out at Boise State on Sept. 10, 54-13. The Over has cashed in each of the past two.

New Mexico at UTEP odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

UTEP 26, New Mexico 23

Money line

I love UTEP (+102) as short ‘dogs at home. The Sun Bowl hasn’t been a difficult place to play in recent seasons, but head coach Dana Dimel has things going in the right direction. The Miners stacked up 420.3 total yards per game, ranking 58th in the nation, and they’re 33rd overall with 199.0 rushing yards per outing.

While New Mexico (-125) has been strong against the run, this is an offense still struggling. They rank just 111th with 329.7 total yards per outing, and they’re 97th in the nation in both passing and rushing yards per game while going for just 20.3 PPG.

Against the spread

AVOID.

UTEP +1.5 (-108) isn’t as good of a value as playing the home side straight up, unless you really feel strongly New Mexico -1.5 (-112) is going to win by just one point. Just play the money line.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

The UNDER 53.5 (-108) is the lean here. New Mexico just hasn’t produced enough offensively outside of its rivalry game with New Mexico State, a team with a traditionally poor defense. This won’t be a defensive slog, but it won’t be a track meet, either.

New Mexico at Texas A&M odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s New Mexico at Texas A&M odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Mexico Lobos (2-0) and Texas A&M Aggies (2-0) meet Saturday at Kyle Field in College Station. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico at Texas A&M odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Lobos have won each of their first two games, but each contest was close. They edged FCS Houston Baptist 27-17 Sept. 2 before pushing past rival New Mexico State 34-25 last Saturday. They’re 0-2 ATS, with an averaging winning margin of just 9.5 PPG.

The Aggies, No. 5 in the AFCA Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports, rolled up 41 points in a victory against Kent State in the opener Sept. 4. They had its first test away from home in a neutral-site game in Denver against Colorado, winning a 10-7 defensive battle.

New Mexico at Texas A&M odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas A&M 38, New Mexico 6

Money line

You can’t play Texas A&M (-10000), as a $100 play on the money line would return just $1 in profit. That’s a ridiculous long-term betting strategy.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

TEXAS A&M -29.5 (-115) is a very good play here. New Mexico +29.5 (-112) has failed to cover each of its first two games against inferior opponents. The only concern for the Aggies is the fact QB Zach Calzada will get the start with QB Haynes King suffering an ankle injury against Colorado, and he is expected to be sidelined at least a month.

Over/Under

UNDER 49.5 (-108) is the best play on the board here.

A&M will be breaking in a new quarterback, and he looked a little shaky against Colorado. However, the defense was superb against both Colorado and Kent State, so don’t expect New Mexico to be able to do much. They have struggled against the likes of HBU and New Mexico State, they’re not moving the ball at will against A&M, especially in front of the 12th man.

Wyoming at New Mexico odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Wyoming Cowboys at New Mexico Lobos sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Wyoming Cowboys (2-2 overall, 2-2 MWC) are saddled up for a trek to Albuquerque, N.M., to take on the New Mexico Lobos (0-5, 0-5) Saturday night at 10:30 p.m. ET in a Mountain West tussle at Dreamstyle Stadium. Below, we analyze the Wyoming-New Mexico college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Wyoming at New Mexico: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 5:30 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Wyoming -834 (bet $834 to win $100) | New Mexico +545 (bet $100 to win $545)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Wyoming -17.5 (-110) | New Mexico +17.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 52.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Wyoming at New Mexico: Three things to know

  1. Wyoming is coming off a 45-14 win at UNLV last Friday. The Cowboys compiled 399 rushing yards, with the 45 points being UW’s most in a single game since Sept. 29, 2019 (53). Led by RB Trey Smith‘s 164 yards, five Wyoming players ran for 40-plus yards in the win. Smith was spelling RB Xazavian Valladay who missed the game with a leg injury and is questionable for this Saturday.
  2. New Mexico is playing its first home game of the season. The Lobos have struggled in Albuquerque over recent seasons. Since Oct. 20, 2017, UNM is 3-13 straight up and against the spread at home. The Lobos have, however, been decent when hosting Wyoming. Since 2010, New Mexico is 3-2 SU and 3-2 ATS against the Cowboys.
  3. Wyoming has been a double-digit road favorite just six times since 1998. One of those times was last week when the Cowboys — a 16.5-point favorite — defeated UNLV. The Cowboys went 10-for-16 on combined third- and fourth-down conversions and benefitted from a plus-2 in turnover margin. UW lost its other five games when favored by 10 or more points.

Wyoming at New Mexico: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Wyoming 38, New Mexico 24

Money line (ML)

The analytics underpinning the offensive and defensive yardage numbers for New Mexico peg the Lobos as being slightly undervalued by bettors. Wyoming’s numbers swing slightly the other way. THAT ALL POINTS TO SOME VALUE ON NEW MEXICO +545.

Against the spread (ATS)

The above play would need some turnover luck. A more accessible win can be had on the ATS wager. A Lobos team in a night game at home and a strong running Wyoming squad spells a 10-14-point win for the Cowboys in a lot of versions of playing this one forward. BACK THE LOBOS +17.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over is 4-0 in the Cowboys’ last four road games, and there are some underlying factors pointing to the Over having some value Saturday night. The Wyoming offense is just 6-for-13 in turning red-zone visits into touchdowns; that percentage ranks 117th in FBS. The New Mexico defense has numbers swinging the other way and may be ripe for coughing up more sixes over the final 20.

Then there is the UW defense: The Cowboys rank 32nd in points allowed and 42nd in yards allowed. They have played only one foe — Nevada — which ranks better than 90th in points scored or yards gained.

TAKE THE OVER 52.5 (-110).
