Ravens HC John Harbaugh shares thoughts on hire of OC Todd Monken

Ravens HC John Harbaugh seemed pleased with the team’s decision to hire Todd Monken as their offensive coordinator

Heading into the offseason, the future of the Baltimore Ravens’ offensive coordinator position was a hot topic, and they found their ideal candidate on Tuesday when they hired University of Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken to fill the role in 2023.

Head coach John Harbaugh issued a statement when the team announced the move, and emphasized that Monken impressed throughout a process that involved 21 interviews and 14 candidates. He talked about how the team is excited to start building an offense that will help them compete for championships.

“We conducted 21 interviews with 14 candidates throughout a thorough process that had wide-ranging organizational involvement,” Harbaugh said in his statement. “Todd’s leadership and coaching acumen were evident from the beginning. He has a proven track record for designing and teaching offensive systems that allow players to succeed at the highest level. We’re excited to get to work and begin building an offense that will help us compete for championships.”

While this move alone won’t be enough to get the Ravens back to the Super Bowl, Harbaugh’s bullish remarks on the matter seem to indicate that he is now comfortable with his offensive coaching staff ahead of the 2023 season. Now, Baltimore will focus on signing quarterback Lamar Jackson to a long-term extension, which would secure the stability of the Ravens’ offense for years to come.

Report: Texas to hire Brennan Marion as wide receivers coach

Steve Sarkisian has found his new wide receivers coach.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has found his next wide receivers coach.
After moving on from Andre Coleman a couple of weeks ago, Texas will hire Brennan Marion as its wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator.

Marion has built an impressive resume as one of the bright young minds in the sport. He will bring in concepts from his “go-go” offense to Texas, a two-back formation that focuses on using RPOs to pressure the defense.

In his one season at Pittsburgh, Marion helped the Panthers win the ACC title and played a big role in wide receiver Jordan Addison taking home the Bilitnkof Award.

Marion will join the Texas staff after Pittsburgh’s bowl game on Thursday night.

The new Texas wide receivers coach has been one of the faster risers in the industry over the past few years.

The hiring of Marion marks the second new position coach on Steve Sarkisian’s offensive staff. Tashard Choice was hired as the running backs after Stan Drayton’s departure to Temple.

Texas football officially announces new associate head coach

The Texas Longhorns officially announced Mark Hagen as the new associate head coach for defense/defensive line coach.

The final piece to the puzzle.

After an underwhelming 2019 season, head coach Tom Herman began reshaping his coaching staff. After nearly a three month process, the transformation is complete.

The Longhorns announced on Friday that former Indiana Hoosiers co-defensive coordinator/defensive line coach Mark Hagen is now the final addition to Herman’s staff.

Texas has officially hired two new coordinators and five new assistant coaches this offseason. Hagen was named associate head coach for defense/defensive line, where he is expected to work with the defensive tackles while assistant coach Oscar Giles focuses on the defensive ends.

Hagen will also bring welcomed experience and success to the recruiting trail, as he was formerly named one of the nation’s best recruiters by Rivals.com.

Along with several stints at Indiana, Hagen also spent time at Texas A&M and Purdue.
