Philadelphia Union at New England Revolution odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Philadelphia Union vs. New England Revolution odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

In a clash between two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, Philadelphia Union (7 wins, 4 losses, 7 draws) travel north to take on New England Revolution (11-3-4) at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Philadelphia Union vs. New England Revolution odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

With all players back from Gold Cup and Olympic action both teams should be at full strength. Following the return of several players, the Revolution drew Nashville. They’ve won four of their last five.

The Union are 2-1-2 in their last five. They are coming off a strong midweek performance against Toronto FC that they won 3-0.

The Union have welcomed back many players over the last few weeks that were in action with the Jamaican National Team and have returned to their standard of play with them in the lineup.

Prediction

New England Revolution 2, Philadelphia Union 1

Money line (ML)

BET on NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION (-120) as they’ve been dominant at home this season. New England has won six of eight home games.

Flip the sides, and the Union really haven’t played well on the road this season. They’ve managed to get draws often, but they’ve won just two of nine on the road.

Additionally, the Revolution are playing very well as of late and they should be able to get the job done. The two sides drew 1-1 in Philadelphia earlier in the season.

The only match the Revolution have played against a top-three team in the East they won. I expect another strong showing from the side currently sitting atop the conference.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the OVER 2.5 (-160) as New England has the best offense in the MLS and Philadelphia is also rolling. The Union put three in the back of the net against a conference-worst Toronto defense.

The Over has hit in three of the Union’s last five matches. While they typically have a strong defense it doesn’t always hold up against better sides which was shown as they lost 2-1 to Orlando City.

The Revolution and their opponent have combined for 2 or more goals in eight of their last 10 matches. They’re tied with Sporting KC for the most goals in the MLS.

Nashville SC at New England Revolution odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Nashville SC at New England Revolution odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

In one of 12 MLS games Wednesday night, Nashville SC (6 wins, 1 loss, 9 draws) travels to take on the New England Revolution (11-3-3) at Gillette Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Nashville SC at New England Revolution odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

With the CONCACAF Gold Cup finished, MLS clubs will return to full strength. New England will be thankful as that means GK Matt Turner returns to action. With 11 wins on the season, New England is, by far, leading the Eastern Conference.

However, the Revolution get one of their toughest tests yet in a Nashville team that has just one loss through16 matches.

Nashville has allowed just 15 goals through 16 games, partially due to All-Star D Walker Zimmerman. After picking up an injury in international play, it doesn’t appear as though Zimmerman will play against the Revolution, a huge loss for the road side.

Prediction

New England 2, Nashville 1

Money line (ML)

BET on NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION (-133) as they’re the most talented team in the East.

On top of that, they’ve won six of their seven home matches, so they play well at Gillette. Nashville has played a league-high 11 matches at home and has yet to win on the road.

With Zimmerman out, I’d expect the Revolution to be able to break down that Nashville backline. Revolution F Gustavo Bou and F Adam Buksa both rank in the top 10 in goals scored.

New England’s offense is that good and should propel it to victory Wednesday night. The Revolution won each of their last four matches.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET the OVER 2.5 (-133) as, on paper, this is the best offense in the East against the best defense. The lack of an All-Star defender will hurt Nashville enough to make it susceptible to an elite New England attack.

Nashville hit the Over in three of its last five matches while New England played to the Over 2.5 goals in eight of its last nine games.

Toronto FC at New England Revolution Odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Toronto FC at New England Revolution odds and lines, with MLS betting picks, tips and best bets.

In one of eight MLS games Wednesday, Toronto FC (1 win, 8 losses, 2 draws) travel to take on the New England Revolution (7-2-3) at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Toronto FC vs. New England Revolution odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

This is a matchup of the best and worst teams in the Eastern Conference.

The Revolution are first in the East and are coming off a 2-2 draw with the Columbus Crew Saturday. They have gone 3-1-1 over their last five games.

Toronto enters as a heavy underdog. TFC has a critical defending problem, having given up 27 goals on the season.

Prediction

New England Revolution 3, Toronto FC 1

Money line (ML)

BET on the REVOLUTION (-200) because they’re the much better team, and TFC is in absolute shambles. Combining both of those and adding in that the Revolution are at home makes this an easy choice. It’s a steep price, but it’s one that should hit.

With F Gustavo Bou having 6 goals on the season against good competition, he should add to that total against Toronto. New England has the fourth-most shots on target in MLS while Toronto has the worst save percentage in the league.

With the New England defense having been far from flawless itself, expect this to be a high-scoring match.

New England is 5-0-0 at home this season should come out on top Wednesday.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the OVER 3.5 (+125) as New England has the East’s best offense and a flawed defense.

Toronto has the worst defense in MLS by far. If New England gets an early goal, this game may get out of hand as an already-weak TFC defense may be forced to play with pace.

Overall, it’s not looking pretty for the Under. Over 2.5 hit in New England’s last four games and in five of its last six. As for Toronto, Over 2.5 cashed in four of its last five games.

Coming off an effort in which it gave up 7 goals to D.C. United, Toronto will play a much better and more tactical Revolution attack which may result in a similarly lopsided result.

New England Revolution at New York City FC preview, odds and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s New England Revolution at New York City FC odds and lines, with MLS betting picks, tips and best bets.

In a premier matchup between two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, the New England Revolution (5 wins, 1 loss, 2 draws) travel to take on New York City FC (3-2-2). The game is scheduled to kick off Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET at Red Bull Arena. Below, we preview the New England Revolution vs. New York City FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

Coming off a hard-fought 1-0 win over the last-place FC Cincinnati, New England will look to keep its four-match unbeaten streak alive, but it will be no easy feat. New England and New York are two of just four teams in the East with at least 10 goals.

As for NYCFC, it’ll look to MF Jesús Medina, who is tied for the third-most goals in MLS. New England holds its opponents under a goal per game.

Over its last 4 games, NYCFC has scored 5 and given up 5, so getting back into a rhythm following the international break with a win over the best in the conference would be huge.

New England Revolution at New York City FC: Odds, picks and predictions

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: New England Revolution +230 (bet $100 to win $230) | New York City FC +115 (bet $100 to win $115) | Draw (bet $100 to win $250)

Prediction

New England 2, NYCFC 1

Money line (ML)

BET on the REVOLUTION (+230) because it’s not a fluke that they’re the best team in the conference. Philadelphia may give them some run at top of the East, but New England has looked phenomenal on both sides of the ball.

Offensively, they’re led by F Adam Buksa, who is tied for sixth in goals (4). Buksa is also fifth in shots (29). Defensively, New England is ninth in duel percentage, sixth in save percentage and tied for fifth in clean sheets.

It won’t be an easy win though as NYCFC has the 24-year-old Medina and 22-year-old F Valentín Castellanos, who is also tied for sixth in goals.

Despite the scoring prowess for NYCFC, getting past New England and consistently stopping its barrage of counterattacks will not be easy. For their abilities on both sides of the field, the Revolution should come out on top.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS on the Over 2.5 (-165). Despite the scoring prowess, New England has a solid backline. Betting Over 2 goals in soccer at that value is just not worth it.

New York has played seven games, and scored in all of them. However, three games still wouldn’t have topped the Over as they have two 1-1 draws and a 2-0 win. As for New England, it’s the opposite as four of its last five games fell shy of 3 goals.

The offense is there for both teams, but assuming that 3 goals will be hit is never a guarantee. For your money, betting on New England to win is the smarter play.

New England Revolution at DC United preview, odds and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s New England Revolution at DC United odds and lines, with MLS betting picks, tips and best bets.

In Saturday MLS action, DC United (1 win, 0 losses, 0 draws) travels to meet the New England Revolution (0-0-1) at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. The match is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET.

Below, we preview the DC United vs. New England odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

DC United registered a 2-1 win against New York City FC last weekend as Brendan Hines-Ike leveled the game 1-0 after NYCFC took an early lead. Russell Canouse notched the winner at 44′.

The Revs fell behind 2-0 on the road against the Chicago Fire last Saturday at the 11′ mark. Adam Buksa and Gustavo Bou struck for two quick goals to knot the match 2-2 by the 27′ mark, and that’s how things ended up.

Prediction

New England 2, DC United 1

Money line (ML)

New England (-190) is a little too expensive for my liking, even though they’re at home. We just haven’t seen enough of the teams to risk nearly two times your potential return.

The Revs posted a draw last week, falling behind quickly. DC United (+500) picked up a win last week at home, so this is anything but a slam-dunk play.

PASS, and look to the spread instead, playing NEW ENGLAND -1 (+135) very lightly. New England is unbeaten across its past 10 home matches against DC across all competitions.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 2.5 (-150) is a steep cost, but it’s a good play. Both of these teams hit the Over 2.5 in their opener last weekend.

New England has scored at least two goals in each of their past three matches against DC, too.

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:53 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Columbus Crew SC 2, New England Revolution 1

Money line (ML)

COLUMBUS CREW SC (+160) is a solid value in regular time for the match result. In their past three home matches against the New England Revolution (+170) they have two wins and a draw. While the Revs have won their past three matches, the Crew have won three in a row against New England. Losses by Orlando City SC, the Philadelphia Union and FC Toronto have opened the door for the Crew in the East.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 (-118) is the play for the total. While the Crew have kept a clean sheet, or posted a shutout, in six of the past eight against the Revs across all competitions, New England has scored at least two goals in each of their past three. They’ll find the back of the net at least once but will come up short. We’ll at least get a total of three goals on the board.

Prediction

Philadelphia Union 2, New England Revolution 1

Money line (ML)

PHILADELPHIA (+100) is a modest favorite against New England (+250). The Union topped the Revs 2-0 in the final game of the regular season on Nov. 8, and they come in a well-rested bunch. New England, on the other hand, had a difficult 2-1, play-in victory over the Montreal Impact Friday at Gillette Stadium.

The Union are 10-2-2 across their past 14 matches, and three of those wins came against the Revs: A 2-1 win in Philly Sept. 13, a 2-1 in Foxborough Oct. 20 and the season finale mentioned above. It’s hard to imagine Philly falling to New England here after such recent domination, with the Union outscoring the Revs 7-2 in the past five meetings, going 4-0-1.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 (-162) is the play in this first-round battle. New England saw a total of three goals in its play-in match. Since Oct. 11, the Revs have seen 26 goals over the past eight matches, or 3.3 goals per outing.

Two of the previous three matches between these two clubs hit the Over 2.5. This one will be no different.

Prediction

New England 3, Montreal 1

Money line (ML)

NEW ENGLAND (-223) is the team to back in this play-in game, the first-ever meeting in the MLS Cup Playoffs against Montreal (+550). While the all-time series has been fairly even, the Revs have been solid this season against the Impact. They won the most recent match in Montreal on Oct. 14, 3-2, and they picked up a 3-1 win Sept. 23, in the most recent battle at Gillette Stadium, too.

Look for more of the same here. Take the Revs to win in regular time for the match result.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 3.5 (+120) is the lean, and it’s a great value at plus-money. We have seen an average of 4.5 goals per game in the previous two meetings. In addition, Montreal has a total of 34 goals across its past eight matches, or an average of 4.3 goals per game. Look for another Over result here.
