March Madness: Texas A&M vs. Nebraska odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Texas A&M vs. Nebraska odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 9 seed Texas A&M Aggies (20-14) face off against the 8th-seeded Nebraska Cornhuskers (23-10) Friday in a 1st-round game in the NCAA Tournament. Tip from FedExForum in Memphis is scheduled for 6:50 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Texas A&M vs. Nebraska odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Before losing in the Southeastern Conference Tournament title game to the Florida Gators 95-90, the Aggies were running as hot as anyone in the country. They failed to cover the spread as a 2.5-point underdog but the Over (153) cashed. Texas A&M is led by the 1st-team All SEC player G Wade Taylor IV, who averaged 18.9 points, 4 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game. The Aggies were 16-18 against the spread (ATS) for the season, and just 5-5 ATS over their last 10 regular-season games — they went 2-1 ATS in the conference tourney.

The Cornhuskers impressive run through the Big Ten Tournament ended in the title game against the Illinois Fighting Illini. They lost 98-87 and did not cover as a 4.5-point underdog, but the Over (154.5) cashed. Nebraska brings a lot of offensive firepower to the court with 4 players averaging double-figures in points and they shoot over 45% from the field as a team. Nebraska finished 21-12 ATS, including 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games.

Texas A&M vs. Nebraska picks and predictions

Prediction

Nebraska 81, Texas A&M 76

Moneyline

PASS.

We’ve got an odds play but I’m going to stay away from the moneyline and look to the spread for this bet. You are giving less than 2 points with Nebraska and you are getting less juice. When you’ve got a line that big, it’s basically a pick’em, so I’ll take the better odds.

Against the spread

BET NEBRASKA -2.5 (-108).

This is a very even matchup between 2 teams that both got hot during their conference tournament, but just missed getting the job done. The reason I am siding with the Cornhuskers is because I believe they are more balanced on offense. The points can come from 4 different starters while if you take Taylor out of the game the Aggies struggle to put the ball in the basket.

The Cornhuskers were also a covering machine this season, 21-12 ATS on the season while the Aggies were just 16-18.

Over/Under

BET OVER 146.5 (-115).

I think this line is too low for this matchup, a great chance to get an easy winner on Friday.

The Cornhuskers can shoot the rock and that was on full display during the Big Ten Tournament. They scored 85 points or more in all 3 games in Minneapolis. The Aggies are no slouch either, they put up 75 or more over their last 5 games.

If you combine these 2 teams, they were 43-24 against the Over for the season. Texas A&M has cleared the Over in 5 straight games and Nebraska has in 4 of their last 5.

Big Ten Tournament: Nebraska vs. Illinois odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Nebraska vs. Illinois odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (23-9) battle the No. 14 Illinois Fighting Illini (24-8) Saturday in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament. Tip-off from Target Center in Minneapolis is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Nebraska vs. Illinois odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The 3rd-seeded Cornhuskers destroyed the No. 6 seed Indiana Hoosiers 93-64 Friday night in the quarterfinals. They easily covered the spread as 5.5-point favorites, and the Over (146.5) cashed. Junior G Brice Williams and senior G Keisei Tominaga each scored 23 points in the victory. Nebraska as a team hit 14 three-pointers.

This is the 1st time the Cornhuskers have reached the semifinals of the tournament since they entered the conference in 1998.

The Illinois Fighting Illini, the 2nd seed in the tournament, got 2 clutch free throws from senior F Coleman Hawkins to put them in the lead for good with 1:15 remaining in a 77-74 win over Ohio State Friday. They failed to cover as 5-point favorites, and the Over (149.5) hit. First-team All-Big Ten G Terrence Shannon Jr. continued his historic season with another epic performance, finishing with 28 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

The Fighting Illini are looking to win the tournament title for the 1st time since 2021.

Nebraska lost 87-84 in overtime to Illinois Feb. 4 in their only meeting this season. The Cornhuskers did cover the spread as 10-point underdogs, and the Over (154.5) cashed.

Nebraska vs. Illinois picks and predictions

Prediction

Illinois 78, Nebraska 72

Moneyline

PASS.

I’m never going to recommend you to bet almost 2 units to win 1. Illinois (-196) will win this game, but I’m going to look to the spread for my wager.

Against the spread

BET ILLINOIS -4.5 (-110).

The Fighting Illini have owned the Cornhuskers. They’ve beaten them 9 of the last 10 meetings and covered the spread in 7 of those games. Nebraska did cover in the Feb. 4 meeting despite Illinois winning the game in overtime.

This game comes down to Nebraska’s shooting. If it is hitting its 3s, it is very hard to beat — like what we saw against the Hoosiers Friday night. I believe Illinois’ defense will do a better job of controlling the perimeter. The Fighting Illini will play in their 2nd Big Ten championship game in the last 4 years.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

BET UNDER 153.5 (-110).

These teams have been Under in 7 of their last 10 head-to-head matchups. Books wants you to take the Over with the way this line is set because Illinois has done it in 8 of its last 10. However, this is the Big Ten Tournament on a neutral court; all the rules are thrown out the window.

Don’t take the bait. I like the Fighting Illini to cool down the Cornhuskers shooters and keep this game under the total.

Rutgers at Nebraska odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Rutgers at Nebraska odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (15-13, 7-10 Big Ten) visit the Nebraska Cornhuskers (20-9, 10-8) Sunday. Tip-off from Pinnacle Bank Arena is set for 6:30 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Rutgers vs. Nebraska odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Rutgers routed the Michigan Wolverines 82-52 Thursday while covering as an 8-point home favorite. Rutgers shot 52.4% from the field and had 4 players score in double figures. The win ended a 3-game losing streak.

Nebraska lost 78-69 to the Ohio State Buckeyes Thursday while failing to cover as a 3-point road underdog. The Cornhuskers were outrebounded 43-33 and only shot 38.8% from the field. The loss ended a 4-game win streak.

These teams met Jan. 17 at Rutgers and the Scarlet Knights won 87-82 in OT.

Rutgers at Nebraska picks and predictions

Prediction

Nebraska 78, Rutgers 68

Moneyline

PASS.

Nebraska (-360) should pick up the win, but the Cornhuskers are not worth the risk of betting on as such heavy favorites. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

LEAN NEBRASKA -7.5 (-120).

Nebraska has covered the spread in 4 of its last 5 games and is 7-3 ATS in its last 10. The Cornhuskers have also covered in 2 of their last 3 game against  the Scarlet Knights and are 4-2 ATS in the last 6 meetings. Nebraska has also been the better ATS team this season, going 18-11 while Rutgers is 13-15.

This is only a lean because the ATS battles in recent Rutgers-Nebraska matchups have been even, and because Rutgers is a solid squad that could give the Cornhuskers problems.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 139.5 (-114).

The Over has hit in 2 of Nebraska’s last 3 outings and is 6-4 in its last 10 games. The Over is also 19-10 for Nebraska this season. The Over has also hit in back-to-back Rutgers-Nebraska matchups and is 3-1 in the last 4 meetings.

This is only a lean because the Under has been dominant for Rutgers this season (19-9). The Scarlet Knights allow only 65.9 points per game, 31st-best in the nation.

Nebraska at Illinois odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Nebraska at Illinois odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-3, 0-2 Big Ten) take on the Illinois Fighting Illini (2-3, 0-2) in Champaign Friday at 8 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Nebraska vs. Illinois odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

As both teams have had disappointing starts, there’s still more than half the season to be played with aspirations of making a bowl game.

Nebraska is coming off a 45-7 loss as a 17.5-point home underdog to Michigan. The Cornhuskers will look to get their offense going against an Illini defense which has underperformed after losing defensive coordinator Ryan Walters, who took the coaching job at Purdue back in December.

As a matter of fact, the Illini just lost a 1-point road favorites to the Boilermakers 44-19 last Saturday. Illinois only trailed 16-13 at the half, but Purdue scored 21 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter to put the game away.

Something will have to give here. Nebraska averages 18.8 points per game, ranking 120th in the country, according to NCAA.org. The Illinois defense yields 30.6 PPT to rank 102nd.

Nebraska at Illinois picks and predictions

Prediction

Illinois 23, Nebraska 20

Moneyline

BET ILLINOIS (-164) to be safe in this matchup.

Nebraska did not show much life against Michigan in the 45-7 loss, though the Wolverines are certainly a better team and have been beating all their opponents in similar fashion. However, the Nebraska offense has struggled this season, averaging just 18.8 PPG as mentioned.

In Illinois’ biggest challenge, it was able to hang with current No. 6 Penn State for a while before losing 30-13 as a 14-poing home underdog — the Illini trailed 16-7 at the half. Had QB Luke Altmyer not thrown 4 picks, Illinois would have had a chance to pull off the upset.

With this game being in Champaign, Illinois deserves the wager, but laying 3.5 points between these two Big Ten rivals is tricky. Although, there’s more juice to pay, TAKING THE FIGHTING ILLINI (-164) is the safer and better play vs. the betting the spread. Adding the ML play to a parlay would be alright, too.

Against the spread

PASS.

Neither team is good this season. Making a spread wager on either is risky. This will be a rock fight and will end close to the number. No matter who wins, it’s safer to make a ML wager.

Over/Under

BACK UNDER 43.5 (-120).

I already mentioned Nebraska only scores 18.8 PPG. Well, Illinois only averages 21.6 PPG to rank 103rd..

Neither of these offenses is explosive and both will look to run the ball and wind down the clock. Expect an old-fashioned Big Ten slugfest in the trenches with the winner barely getting to 20 points.

UNDER 43.5 (-120) is the value play.

Michigan at Nebraska odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Michigan at Nebraska odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 2 Michigan Wolverines (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) and Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-2, 0-1) tussle Saturday in a Big Ten battle in Lincoln, Neb. Kickoff time at Memorial Stadium is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Michigan vs. Nebraska odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Michigan is No. 2 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. The Wolverines defeated Rutgers 31-7 as 24-point favorites last Saturday. All 4 of Michigan’s games have seen the team score between 30-35 points while allowing a single-digit number, but it has yet to cover the spread in any contest.

Nebraska failed to cover as a 20-point favorite last week, defeating Louisiana Tech 28-14. The Cornhuskers won despite passing for just 107 yards and going 3-of-11 in converting 3rd downs.

Michigan at Nebraska picks and predictions

Prediction

Michigan 28, Nebraska 10

Moneyline

Out of bounds on both ends: PASS.

Against the spread

The Wolverines have won 3 consecutive meetings straight up and are 2-0-1 ATS in 3 games since 2018.

But peg the pace and maybe weather conditions making for a final margin very close to what’s listed here. PASS.

Over/Under

Nine of the last 12 Nebraska games have hit the Under and 9 of the last 14 Michigan games have done likewise.

The ‘Huskers have become the Big Ten’s service academy, piling up more-than-a-2-to-1 run-to-pass ratio on play calls so far. UM has been quite good against the rush (2.8 yards per attempt), so don’t look for UN to bust loose on the ground. However, the Cornhuskers won’t gain much of anything by going to the air even down 3 scores.

The Wolverines rank 127th in plays per game (57.8); the only reason Nebraska ranks higher (97th) is that it trails more often. If you look at the game flow in UM’s last 2 games, the Wolverines could have easily been held to fewer than 30 points in each,

Last year’s UM-UN game (Nov. 12) was lined at 50.5 points. The Under hit with a 34-3 Michigan win. On what is forecasted as a hot, windy afternoon in Lincoln, look for something similar Saturday.

BACK THE UNDER 39.5 (-110).

Nebraska at Colorado odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Nebraska at Colorado odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (0-1) and the Colorado Buffaloes (1-0) meet Saturday at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colo. Kickoff is scheduled for noon p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Troy vs. Kansas State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Nebraska kicked off the Matt Rhule era on a low note, falling 13-10 against Minnesota last Thursday. It wasn’t all bad, as the Cornhuskers led 10-3 late into the 4th quarter. However, the Golden Gophers tied it up, and hit the game-winning field goal from 47 yards at the buzzer to spoil the debut.

You might have heard, but Colorado has a new coach, too. And the Deion Sanders era in Boulder got off to a loud start with an upset win at TCU as 21-point underdogs. The retooled Buffs racked up 565 total yards of offense, including a school-record 510 passing yards by QB Shadeur Sanders in the win.

Detractors will point to the fact the Buffs D allowed 541 total yards and 42 points, while Colorado was also outrushed 262-55. Despite that, it pulled off one of the largest upsets of the 1st full weekend.

Colorado is No. 25 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

Nebraska at Colorado picks and predictions

Prediction

Colorado 38, Nebraska 16

Moneyline

COLORADO (-150) isn’t priced out of line if you just want to take it straight up, and not fiddle around with the points. The Buffaloes entered last Saturday’s game with a lot of hype and press, and the intensity will be turned up even more in the 1st game for Coach Prime in Boulder. However, the new CU players handled all of that without a problem in Fort Worth last week.

Nebraska (+125) looked terrible on offense against Minnesota, and while it’s a small sample size, it just doesn’t look like the Huskers have the horses to run with the Buffaloes.

Against the spread

COLORADO -3 (-110) is getting a lot of attention, almost to the tune of 4-to-1 among the public. It’s hard not to be impressed with how the Buffaloes handled themselves last week, racking up huge yards through the air. Can Shadeur Sanders do it again? Nebraska +3 (-110) was stout defensively in the opener, but the offense was a train wreck. CU certainly passed the eye test, and the hype train will be in full force after another win and cover.

Over/Under

UNDER 59.5 (-110) is lean, but go lightly.

After Colorado’s defense was trampled for 541 total yards, including 262 on the ground, it’s hard to go low. Pinch your nose and roll with it. Nebraska managed just 10 points on offense last week, however, and it allowed 13 total points. It appears the Huskers should be able to slow down the Buffaloes a bit more than TCU did, thus the Under play. But there isn’t a strong conviction, so don’t get carried away.

Nebraska at Minnesota odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Nebraska at Minnesota odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Minnesota Golden Gophers welcome the Nebraska Cornhuskers to Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis Thursday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Nebraska vs. Minnesota odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Golden Gophers will start redshirt sophomore QB Athan Kaliakmanis, who played in 11 games last season and ended with 946 yards and 3 TDs. They will have 5 new starters on both sides of the ball. None will be more important than Western Michigan transfer RB Sean Tyler, who totaled 1,000-plus rushing yards in his last 2 seasons with the Broncos. Minnesota was 5-2 at home last season, losing to Purdue and Iowa.

The Cornhuskers will have 4 new starters on both sides of the ball. They finished last season 4-8 and 3-6 in Big Ten action. Nebraska will be starting transfer QB Jeff Sims, who spent 3 seasons with Georgia Tech, throwing for 1,115 yards in 7 games last season. He is a dual-threat weapon. The team will also have to fill the void left by WR Trey Palmer (1,043 receiving yards).

Nebraska at Minnesota picks and predictions

Prediction

Minnesota 27, Nebraska 14

Moneyline

PASS.

The Golden Gophers have a more experienced roster and more holdover from what was a solid team last season. At home, they should come out on top, but at (-275), they aren’t worth betting on the moneyline here.

Similarly, Nebraska was 2-2 on the road in Big Ten play and is taking on a side that should be better than it was a year ago. Ultimately, pass here.

Against the spread

BET MINNESOTA -7 (-110).

Minnesota was better last season against the spread (ATS) than Nebraska. It was 7-6 compared to the Cornhuskers 5-7. The Golden Gophers were 5-2 ATS at home as well.

While Kaliakmanis didn’t put up great numbers last season, Sims struggled to make much of an impact with the Yellow Jackets, who were just 5-7 with him leading the way. The addition of Tyler should help Minnesota’s offense find some traction.

Nebraska lost its best offensive weapon, and it will try to cope with that by having the dual-threat Sims and several weapons it had on last season’s team step up. The chemistry may not be there, and it is expected to struggle.

Take the home side. Back MINNESOTA -7 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 43.5 (-115).

Sims ended last season with a 58.5% completion rate. Kaliakmanis had just a 54.1%.

Despite both QBs being solid as rushers, not being able to drive the ball downfield will hurt the total here. Touchdowns will be sparing in this game.

Nebraska was just 4-8 O/U last season while Minnesota was 5-7-1 O/U. Expect sloppy football to start the season and back UNDER 43.5 (-115).

Nebraska at Iowa odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Nebraska at Iowa odds and lines, with expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (15-15, 8-11 Big Ten) look to finish the season in style with a victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes (19-11, 11-8) in Iowa City Sunday at 2 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Nebraska vs. Iowa odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

If Nebraska wins, it would sweep the Hawkeyes in the season series for the 1st time since joining the Big Ten Conference. If Iowa wins, it will assure itself a double bye in the conference tournament and will give coach Fred McCaffery a school-record 127th conference win.

This is a rematch of a 66-50 Nebraska win at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Dec. 29 which saw 5 Cornhuskers score in double digits. Iowa has not been held to 50 points often in recent years. It will look to avenge this lop-sided loss on Sunday.

Nebraska at Iowa picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa 79, Nebraska 66

Moneyline

PASS.

Iowa needs a win to gain a double-bye in the Big Ten Conference Tournament. While Nebraska has been solid at home, the road has been a different animal and I do not foresee Iowa having any issues with getting the win. I would never wager -700 on a favorite and this is no exception.

Against the spread

IOWA -11.5 (-110).

After losing to Nebraska 66-50, Iowa will be looking for more then seeding in this game. It will be looking for revenge.

Despite the Cornhuskers only getting to 66 points, they had 5 players reach double digits. This balance can be good in a defensive battle. But in an offensive matchup like the one that should occur in Carver-Hawkeye Arena Sunday, the explosiveness of Iowa will shine and cover the 11.5-point spread.

Over/Under

OVER 154.5 (-105).

Nebraska has gone Over the total in 6 straight games overall to end the season. For the Hawkeyes, they have several streaks of going Over of late.

Iowa is 21-6 to the Over after winning its previous game by more than 20 points. It has also gone Over in 19 of 27 games against a team with a losing road record. And 15 of the Hawkeyes last 21 games overall have also hit the Over.

Iowa scores at home. This will be another game in which they push the pace up and down the floor and force the Cornhuskers to keep up. Nebraska will try. And this will lead to an Over 154.5 being the side to make a play on.

Nebraska at Rutgers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Nebraska at Rutgers odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (12-14, 5-10 Big Ten) take on the Rutgers Scarlett Knights (16-9, 8-6) Tuesday. Tip from Jersey Mike’s Arena is at 8 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Nebraska vs. Rutgers odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Cornhuskers bounced back from a loss at Michigan by recording a 73-63 overtime win at home against Wisconsin Saturday. Nebraska has been up and down all season and facing an elite defensive Rutgers team will be a difficult task.

The Scarlett Knights will be coming in off a 69-60 loss Saturday to Illinois as 6-point underdogs. They will use their 7th-ranked scoring defense (59.1 points allowed per game) to hold down a Nebraska offense that ranks 310th in the nation at just 66.2 points per game. Rutgers has held opponents to 38.2% from the field (6th) and 29.1% from 3 (15th), this will be a low-scoring defensive-minded battle.

Nebraska at Rutgers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rutgers 65, Nebraska 54

Moneyline

AVOID.

Nebraska (+625) is a Jekyll and Hyde team. Taking them on the road is not a good investment. It’s almost as bad of an investment as taking Rutgers (-1100) straight up.

Neither side offers the correct value to make a wager.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

NEBRASKA +14.5 (-120).

Is Nebraska good? No. However, Rutgers should not be a 14.5-point favorite either.

Nebraska has the 317th-ranked offense but Rutgers ranks just 214th in the nation. Scoring is not the focus of this one — defense is.

With Rutgers allowing only 59.1 points and the Cornhuskers just 69.1, this will be a close, ugly game, and 14.5 points are too many to take on the favorite.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 131.5 (-110).

Nebraska is 6-0 to the Under in its last 6 Tuesday games. This, combined with the lack of offense on either side and the 7th-ranked Rutgers scoring defense, make the Under bet the best bet of this entire game slate.
