Nebraska at Iowa odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Nebraska at Iowa odds and lines, with expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (15-15, 8-11 Big Ten) look to finish the season in style with a victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes (19-11, 11-8) in Iowa City Sunday at 2 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Nebraska vs. Iowa odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

If Nebraska wins, it would sweep the Hawkeyes in the season series for the 1st time since joining the Big Ten Conference. If Iowa wins, it will assure itself a double bye in the conference tournament and will give coach Fred McCaffery a school-record 127th conference win.

This is a rematch of a 66-50 Nebraska win at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Dec. 29 which saw 5 Cornhuskers score in double digits. Iowa has not been held to 50 points often in recent years. It will look to avenge this lop-sided loss on Sunday.

Nebraska at Iowa picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa 79, Nebraska 66

Moneyline

PASS.

Iowa needs a win to gain a double-bye in the Big Ten Conference Tournament. While Nebraska has been solid at home, the road has been a different animal and I do not foresee Iowa having any issues with getting the win. I would never wager -700 on a favorite and this is no exception.

Against the spread

IOWA -11.5 (-110).

After losing to Nebraska 66-50, Iowa will be looking for more then seeding in this game. It will be looking for revenge.

Despite the Cornhuskers only getting to 66 points, they had 5 players reach double digits. This balance can be good in a defensive battle. But in an offensive matchup like the one that should occur in Carver-Hawkeye Arena Sunday, the explosiveness of Iowa will shine and cover the 11.5-point spread.

Over/Under

OVER 154.5 (-105).

Nebraska has gone Over the total in 6 straight games overall to end the season. For the Hawkeyes, they have several streaks of going Over of late.

Iowa is 21-6 to the Over after winning its previous game by more than 20 points. It has also gone Over in 19 of 27 games against a team with a losing road record. And 15 of the Hawkeyes last 21 games overall have also hit the Over.

Iowa scores at home. This will be another game in which they push the pace up and down the floor and force the Cornhuskers to keep up. Nebraska will try. And this will lead to an Over 154.5 being the side to make a play on.
