Texas A&M sophomore offensive lineman Colton Thomasson enters transfer portal

“Thank you 12th Man. There is nothing quite like running through the tunnel onto Kyle Field and an honor I’ll never forget,” Thomasson said.

After only one year in College Station, a Texas A&M underclassman has decided to enter the transfer portal.

Sophomore offensive lineman Colton Thomasson announced his decision to enter the portal via social media on Wednesday afternoon.

“Thanks be to God for blessing me with the opportunity to play football at Texas A&M,” Thomasson stated on X. “To my teammates, you are my brothers forever. To my family and friends, I love you and appreciate all you’ve done for me.

“Thank you to the coaches and staff who have developed me during my time in College Station.

“Thank you, 12th Man, for your continued support and being the best fanbase in college football. There is nothing quite like running through the tunnel onto Kyle Field and an honor I’ll never forget.

“After much prayer and reflection, I am formally entering the transfer portal.”

Thomasson is 6-foot-8, 320 pounds and was a 4-star prospect coming out of Smithson Valley High School in Spring Branch, Texas. He appeared in only two games for the Aggies and enters the portal with four years of eligibility remaining after taking a redshirt season in 2023.

Freddie Dilione V commits to Big Ten school

Former Tennessee basketball guard Freddie Dilione V commits to Big Ten school.

Former Tennessee guard Freddie Dilione V committed to Penn State basketball on Wednesday.

“Tennessee transfer guard Freddie Dilione has committed to Penn State, he tells On3 Sports,” Joe Tipton said. “Former top 50 recruit.”

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound redshirt freshman entered the NCAA transfer portal on April 4.

Dilione V appeared in 18 games at Tennessee during the 2023-24 season. He averaged 1.7 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.8 assists per contest. His career-high for points was seven against Tennessee Tech on Nov. 6, 2023.

Dilione V went to Tennessee from Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, North Carolina. He enrolled at Tennessee in Jan. 2023 and redshirted during the remainder of the 2022-23 season, while practicing and traveling with the Vols.

Projected starting Big Ten quarterback enters transfer portal

Projected starting Big Ten quarterback enters transfer portal

The NCAA spring transfer portal window remains open until April 30 and in a surprising move, Northwestern’s projected starting quarterback Brendan Sullivan announced his intentions to transfer Tuesday.

Sullivan appeared in 12 games for the Wildcats over the last two seasons. He threw for 714 yards and six touchdowns in 2023 while also adding 160 rushing yards and two scores on the ground. Those stats came while splitting time with quarterback Ben Bryant in 2023.

Sullivan appeared to be Northwestern’s clear 2024 starter with Bryant no longer in town. That will now not be the case.

Senior Ryan Hilinski presents as the most likely next man up for the Wildcats, while junior Jack Lausch should be the primary competition

The transfer portal continues to offer athletes a chance to get a fresh start and in Sullivan’s case, it doesn’t necessarily matter if you were in line to be the starter.

Wisconsin is set to visit Northwestern on October 19. We will now monitor who the Wildcats’ starting quarterback will be for that contest.

Alabama basketball loses its sixth player to the NCAA transfer portal

Alabama DL Khurtiss Perry expected to enter transfer portal

On Tuesday, Alabama saw its first scholarship player enter the transfer portal since the window opened up last week. Defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry will explore his options via the transfer portal.

The Alabama Crimson Tide saw its first scholarship player enter the transfer portal since the transfer portal opened back up last Tuesday. Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry will likely be suiting up elsewhere next season, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

The former four-star recruit spent two seasons in Tuscaloosa. He did not record any stats for the Crimson Tide.

Perry was expected to be a reserve defensive lineman at Alabama in 2024-2025. He was seeing work at defensive end during spring practices.

It will be interesting to see where Perry ends up. Two programs that recruited Perry heavily coming out of high school were Auburn and UCF. Perry took official visits to both schools before committing to the Crimson Tide.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the latest regarding the Alabama football program and its involvement in the transfer portal.

Latest trend proves this skill is most coveted in college basketball transfer portal

The pursuit of Mason Gillis and Koby Brea in the transfer portal proves college basketball’s three point revolution is in full swing.

For the majority of college basketball’s history, a four-year role player in the Big Ten who never averaged more than seven points per game wouldn’t be praised as a big time addition for the Duke Blue Devils.

Likewise, a guard who didn’t start in the A-10 wouldn’t get the opportunity to choose between the following five schools for his final year of eligibility: Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, and UConn.

However, both Mason Gillis and Koby Brea possess a skill so valuable in today’s game that it feels like we are looking at college basketball’s ‘Moneyball’ moment:

“They hit three point shots”.

Gillis is a 6’6 forward who drilled 40.7% of his three point attempts over four years at Purdue, including knocking them down at a 46.8% clip last season, and he will come in and provide much needed floor spacing, veteran experience, and toughness for this Duke team as they prepare to build around Tyrese Proctor and freshman Cooper Flagg in 2024-25.

Meanwhile, Brea averaged 11.1 points on blistering hot 49.8% shooting from beyond the arc last year at Dayton, attempting over six threes per game. He is now choosing between five of the sports bluest blue bloods, and regardless of where he ends up he will be a key piece for one of the most recognizable teams in college basketball – all because of his ability to hit the three ball.

The NBA has embraced the three point revolution and many college programs are catching on, and as long as this trend continues players who can consistently stretch the floor and hit open threes will remain hot commodities in the transfer portal and NIL era.

Rutgers transfer forward Clifford Omoruyi expected to visit Alabama this weekend

Rutgers transfer forward Clifford Omoruyi will be visiting Alabama this weekend. Omoruyi has already taken visits to Georgetown and St. John’s.

The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team will likely be in contention to win a national title next season. If Nate Oats and his program want to do so, they will need to add a big man via the transfer portal. Well, it just so happens that one will be on campus this weekend. According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Rutgers forward transfer Clifford Omoruyi will be taking an official visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend.

Omoruyi has taken official visits to both St. John’s and Georgetown. In addition, he plans to make an official visit to Kansas State on Wednesday.

He is one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal and rightfully so. As a senior, Omoruyi averaged 10.4 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game, and 2.9 blocks per game. He is an experienced big man who would add physicality and rim protection for the Crimson Tide.

Nate Oats and the rest of the Alabama coaching staff are determined to be competitors next season. The addition of Omoruyi would go a long way for Alabama and its hopes of reaching the Final Four again.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the latest regarding the Alabama men’s basketball program and its involvement in the transfer portal.

Former Wisconsin basketball commit transfers to new school

Former Wisconsin basketball commit transfers to new school

The transfer portal has been incredibly active across NCAA men’s basketball and former UW-Green Bay standout guard Noah Reynolds announced his next destination Monday.

Reynolds will head to TCU after averaging 20 points, 4.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 51.1 percent per game during the 2023-2024 season, his only one with the Phoenix.

The 6-foot-3 athlete spent two seasons at Wyoming before he announced he’d be transferring to Wisconsin last April, ultimately having a change of heart and joining his brother Nic, an assistant coach at Green Bay.

The Badgers have yet to reel in anyone in the portal after seven players from the 2023-24 roster have either announced their intentions to transfer or have already transferred to new programs.

Familiar face to Wisconsin basketball announces transfer to Duke

Familiar face to Wisconsin basketball announces transfer to Duke

The NCAA men’s basketball transfer portal has been full of twists and turns this offseason. The latest: former Purdue forward Mason Gillis is heading to Duke. After five years with the Boilermakers, the longtime Purdue starter is heading to Durham.

Gillis was a redshirt his freshman season before being an active part of the team’s rotation in West Lafayette for four campaigns, most recently averaging 6.3 points and 4.2 rebounds over 39 contests during the 2023-2024 season.

He joins a Duke program that lost in the NCAA Tournament regional final in 2023-24. Head coach Jon Scheyer will be entering his third season in 2024-25, still looking to make his first Final Four run.

Purdue, on the other hand, is reloading its roster after a national championship loss to UConn. Gillis isn’t leaving a bad team for a better one, but rather capitalizing on his final year of free agency.

In the modern age of college basketball, it’s hard to imagine that many players will begin and end their collegiate careers with the same program and Gillis is a great example of just that.
