How to watch Alabama baseball vs. Wake Forest in NCAA Super Regional on Saturday

How to watch Alabama baseball vs. Wake Forest in NCAA Super Regional on Saturday!

For the first time since 2010, the Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team is competing in the super regionals of the NCAA Tournament.

On Saturday, Alabama begins its best-of-three series against No. 1 overall seed Wake Forest in Winston Salem, North Carolina. With two more wins, the Crimson Tide will advance to the World Series for the first time since 1999.

The Demon Deacons will not be easy to put away. They are deadly on the mound and at the plate. Alabama will need to be at its best to pull off the upset.

Game 1 is scheduled to get underway shortly from David F. Couch Ballpark. Here is how you can catch all of the action!

Oregon coach Mark Wasikowski discusses upcoming super regional vs. Oral Roberts

Oregon coach Mark Wasikowski discusses upcoming super regional vs. Oral Roberts

The last time Oregon baseball was in this spot, it didn’t end well for the Ducks.

Kent State came to Eugene and hit a walk-off double that was barely fair down the left field line to upset Oregon 3-2 in Game 3 of the 2012 Super Regional.

Oregon hopes this series ends on a much better note.

The Ducks host Oral Roberts for a best-of-three beginning Friday with the winner moving on to the College World Series for the first time in either program’s history.

“It’s special. I know they have a lot of things planned,” Oregon coach Mark Wasikowski said. “I think they sold this thing out in less than an hour. The fan interest and the community and what that means for us. It’s awesome.”

There is going to be a fanfest event before Games 1 and 2 for sure as well as possible bleacher seating in the outfield if it’s been approved. In other words, hosting a Super Regional is a big deal and doesn’t happen very often.

Ironically, Wasikowski has been at Oregon to experience the only two times this has happened for the Ducks. He was an assistant under George Horton back in 2012. Coach Waz has seen what it takes to build up a program to reach this point.

“It’s hard,” he said on Wednesday during a press conference. “It’s not easy to get to Omaha and it’s not easy to get to Super Regionals or even the Regionals. To be able to do that on a consistent basis here in Year 3, we’re going in the right direction.”

The ultimate direction the Ducks want to go is, according to the sign just outside PK Park, is east, or more specifically, 1,687 miles. Oregon is just two wins away from making that historic journey.

But Oral Roberts isn’t coming to Eugene just to be cannon fodder. The Golden Eagles are for real and they’ll be a tough opponent.

According to Wasikowski, the Ducks will need to go out and win this. ORU won’t hand it to them.

“Statistically on paper, they have the best defense in the country and they rolled through a really difficult regional,” he said. “We’re very familiar with that team and they’re good.”

The Eugene Super Regional will get underway Friday with first pitch scheduled for 5 pm PST. Games 1 and 2 will be televised on ESPNU.

NCAA baseball super regionals schedule for 2023

The full Super Regional schedule is set.

And then there were 16. After the field of 64 was introduced we saw 16 teams emerge in the NCAA regional baseball playoffs. After this weekend we will see that field dwindle to eight with each team heading to Omaha, Nebraska, for the College World Series.

The top two teams in the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll remain in the field with No. 1 Wake Forest and No. 2 Florida hosting Super Regional matchups. The Demon Deacons drew No. 23 Alabama, while the Gators get an SEC matchup against No. 18 South Carolina.

The No. 3, 4, and 5 teams failed to make it past the regional round of the playoffs. The next highest-seeded teams will host a Super Regional as well. No. 6 Stanford drew the Texas Longhorns and No. 6 LSU will join Florida in hosting a fellow SEC squad for their Super Regional matchup.

All games in the Super Regionals will be broadcasted on ESPN.

The full schedule is listed below.

How to watch Alabama softball vs. Northwestern on Saturday

Alabama softball is now in must-win mode on Saturday night in the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals against Northwestern!

Patrick Murphy and the Alabama softball team have entered must-win mode following Friday night’s 3-1 loss to the Northwestern Wildcats in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama turned to Montana Fouts on Friday night, but some early errors from both Fouts and the other infielders led to two of the Wildcats’ scores. Fouts threw 3.1 innings in her return from a knee injury and Jaala Torrence would replace her and deliver 3.2 scoreless innings of work from the mound.

Outside of Ashley Prange, the Alabama offense could not muster much success from the plate.

Alabama will need to win on Saturday night to force a game three on Sunday. Here is how you can catch Saturday night’s action from Tuscaloosa!

Oklahoma State sweeps and eliminates Ducks in Super Regional

The Ducks softball season ends with a 9-0 loss to Oklahoma State in Game 2 of the Stillwater Super Regional.

Where everything went right in the regionals for the Oregon Ducks softball team, it was quite the opposite in the Stillwater Super Regional.

The Ducks’ season ended at the hands of Oklahoma State with a 9-0 loss in Game 2. The Cowgirls advance to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City with Oregon finishing its year with a 38-17 overall record.

In the two games of the Super Regional, the Ducks scored a total of one run. Not only that, but the Cowgirls retired 36 straight batters over the course of the two contests. An Allie Bunker single to center broke up the perfect game

Oregon’s last base runner came in Game 1 during the second inning when Alyssa Daniell singled home KK Humphreys for the Ducks’ lone run.

OSU pitcher Kelly Maxwell needed an even 100 pitches for the complete game shutout.

It’s a stark contrast from the Regionals where the Duck offense exploded for 29 runs in the three games, including wins of 10-4 and 14-4 over host Arkansas.

This was the first time Oregon had advanced to this round of the  NCAA tournament in five seasons and the first under head coach Melyssa Lombardi. The goal in Year 6 has to be to return to Oklahoma City.

Ducks drop Game 1 of Super Regional to Oklahoma State

In their first Super Regional appearance in five years, the Ducks softball team couldn’t get the bats going in a loss to Oklahoma State.

It’s been five years since the Oregon Ducks softball program was in a Super Regional and the nerves were on full display.

Fueled by a three-run fourth inning, Oklahoma State went on to take Game 1 by the score of 8-1. Now the Ducks will have to win two straight in Stillwater in order to advance to the Women’s College Series.

At first, it looked like things would be going Oregon’s way as they took a 1-0  lead in the second inning on Alyssa Daniell’s single to right that scored KK Humphreys.

Daniell would be the last Oregon baserunner as Cowgirls starting pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl retired the last 17 Ducks to come to the plate.

Oregon starter Morgan Scott was rolling through 3.1 innings, but then the proverbial wheels came way off the axle for the Ducks.

Kiley Naomi put the Cowgirls on the board with a solo homer to tie the game. A walk and a double put runners on second and third. OSU’s Morgyn Wynne hit a comebacker to the circle and Scott had the runner dead to rights, but her throw to home was wide and OSU took the 2-1 lead on the error.

It got even worse from there.

Oklahoma State scored four more runs in the fifth with the big blow being a three-run homer off of Wynne’s bat to make it 7-1. The only question then was if Oregon was going to be run-ruled.

Game 2 between the Ducks and Cowgirls is scheduled for Friday at 3 pm PST and will be televised on ESPN2.

Alabama Softball advances to Super Regionals with 1-0 win over Middle Tennessee State

The Alabama softball team won a nail-biter in Sunday’s Regional Finals. The Tide defeated Middle Tennessee State by a final score of 1-0.

After losing game one of the Regional Finals to Middle Tennessee State, the Crimson Tide found themselves in a win-or-go-home game against the Blue Raiders. The offense struggled to accumulate run support, but one run was enough for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama defeated Middle Tennessee State by a final score of 1-0. Meaning the Crimson Tide will advance to the Super Regionals to take on the No. 12 overall seed Northwestern Wildcats.

Graduate senior Ally Shipman came through in the seventh inning with a go-ahead home run to left field.

Junior Jaala Torrence shined on the mound and was able to put the Blue Raiders away in the bottom half of the seventh inning.

Altogether, Torrence threw seven scoreless innings while allowing just five hits and striking out eight batters.

Alabama head coach Patrick Murphy will be coaching in his sixth Super Regional next weekend. The Tide are hopeful that star pitcher Montana Fouts will be back in the circle after suffering a knee injury in the SEC Tournament.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama softball program.

Social media reacts to Texas baseball’s comeback win over ECU

Dylan Campbell’s clutch walk-off has social media buzzing.

The Longhorns came all the way back from down 7-2 to come out with a 9-8 win over East Carolina.

Home runs off the bat of Douglas Hodo and Skyler Messinger tied the ballgame in the bottom of the eighth, setting the stage for Texas outfielder Dylan Campbell’s heroics.

The sophomore ripped out the hearts of the purple and gold faithful with a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the eighth and a walk-off single in the ninth.

Campbell has been one of Texas’ best hitters down the stretch this season and came through when the Horns needed him most.

Texas and East Carolina will face off again tomorrow with a trip to Omaha on the line. Expect Texas to empty the tank from a bullpen perspective. David Pierce said in his postgame presser that every pitcher would be available if needed.

Here is how social media reacted to Texas’ miraculous comeback victory.
