Warriors at Kings Preseason: Live stream, how to watch, TV channel, start time, projected lineups, rookie watch (Dec. 17)

To close out the 2020-21 NBA preseason, Golden State will travel to Sacramento for a Northern California rivalry match against the Kings.

For the final tune-up before the start of the 2020-21 season, the Warriors will travel to Sacramento for their preseason finale against the Kings.

After a gritty late comeback from the Warriors, Sacramento’s Kyle Guy drilled a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to save the Kings’ 114-113 preseason win over Golden State.

Although the Warriors dropped the game, Steph Curry scored a preseason-high 29 points on 11-of-21 shooting from the field in 28 minutes. Before the Warriors open the season against the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 22, the former two-time Most Valuable Player will have another opportunity to shake off the rust against the Kings.

While Curry, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Andrew Wiggins will likely be on the floor against the Kings, the Warriors will be without James Wiseman and Draymond Green for the third consecutive preseason game.

Here is everything you need to know before the Warriors tipoff against the Kings for the 2020 preseason finale.

James Wiseman and Draymond Green will miss the Warriors’ preseason finale vs. the Kings

Although Draymond Green and James Wiseman have returned to practice, both won’t play during the Warriors preseason finale against the Kings.

After reportedly testing positive for COVID-19, Draymond Green and James Wiseman missed the start of the Golden State Warriors preseason training camp in the Bay Area.

Over the last week, Green and Wiseman made their highly-anticipated return to group practice sessions at Chase Center in San Francisco. Despite competing in a team scrimmage on Wednesday, Steve Kerr won’t play the frontcourt duo in Golden State’s preseason finale against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday.

In a post-practice press conference with members of the media, Kerr said Wiseman and Green will get a “good run” after tomorrow’s shootaround, but won’t play against Golden State’s Northern California rival.

They’re [ Wiseman and Green] not going to play tomorrow. It doesn’t make sense. They’re going to get a really good run in tomorrow after shootaround, but it would be irresponsible for us to throw either guy into a game right now. They’ll get a good workload tomorrow — we will have a light day on Friday. Then we’re going to do a full scrimmage on Saturday with the whole team – kind of a tune-up scrimmage and they will both be involved in that.

Listen to Kerr’s full post-practice scrimmage from Wednesday via Warriors Sound Cloud.

After missing the entire preseason, the soonest Golden State’s No. 2 overall selection from the 2020 NBA draft could make his debut would be the regular-season opener against Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 22.

Without Green and Wiseman in the preseason, Kevon Looney got the nod in the starting lineup. Eric Paschall started alongside Looney in the frontcourt in the preseason opener against the Nuggets. However, Paschall was ruled out against the Kings on Tuesday with knee soreness. Instead, Bay Area native Juan Toscano-Anderson was called on to start.

The Warriors tipoff in Sacramento for their second consecutive preseason contest on Thursday at 6 p.m. PST.

Steph Curry stats and highlights from Warriors buzzer-beating preseason loss to Kings, 114-113

Although the Golden State Warriors fell to the Sacramento Kings, Steph Curry recorded a signature performance, scoring 29 points in 28 minutes.

After only registering 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the field against the Nuggets, Steph Curry laced up for a preseason tilt against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday.

Against the Kings, it didn’t take the two-time Most Valuable Player long to surpass his scoring total from Saturday at Chase Center. Curry caught fire early, scoring 11 of Golden State’s first 15 points.

In just 10 minutes in the first quarter, Curry blitzed the Kings for 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field with three assists and two steals. The six-time All-Star nailed a trio of 3-pointers to go along with his signature first-quarter performance.

Via @NBCSWarriors on Twitter:

Along with his long-range shooting, Curry showed off his handles against the Kings. The Davidson product weaved through Sacramento’s defense to finish a trio of tough buckets at the rim.

When he wasn’t scoring for himself, Curry helped set up Kevon Looney for an easy layup after a crafty behind the back pass in the lane.

Despite not playing the fourth quarter when Golden State was pushing for a comeback, Curry finished with a game-high 29 points on 11-of-21 shooting from the field with four blocks, four assists and three steals.

Although they lost the game on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Sacramento’s Kyle Guy, seeing Curry back to his old ways is a positive step for the Warriors. After only two preseason games, it looks like Curry is close to cleaning up the rust from a nine-month layoff.

Curry and the Warriors will have one more preseason game on Thursday against the Kings before they travel to Brooklyn for the regular-season opener against Kevin Durant’s Nets.

Warriors at Kings Preseason: Livestream, how to watch, TV channel, start time, projected lineups, rookie watch

After opening the preseason with a win over the Denver Nuggets, the Warriors will travel to the state capital for a tilt against the Kings.

After a nine-month layoff from game action, the Golden State Warriors returned to the Chase Center court for a preseason tilt against the Denver Nuggets.

An early burst from Kent Bazemore off the bench paired with a late steady shooting stretch from Mychal Mulder helped the Warriors hold on for a close victory over the Nuggets, 107-105.

Six different Warriors scored in double-figures, led by Bazemore’s 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field with five boards in 18 minutes. Mulder, Jordan Poole, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Steph Curry each added 10 points in Golden State’s first preseason game of the 2020 slate.

The Warriors will now travel to the California state capital for a rivalry matchup with the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings are coming off two games against the Portland Trail Blazers with a 1-1 preseason record. De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield will lead their up-and-coming tandem against Golden State’s new-look backcourt that features Curry and Oubre Jr.

The Warriors will also get a dose of Sacramento’s first-round pick Tyrese Haliburton. In each of Sacramento’s preseason contests, the Iowa State product has logged 20 or more minutes.

On the other side, the Warriors will be without first-rounder James Wiseman for the second consecutive preseason game. At the start of training camp, Wiseman and Draymond Green reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. Although Draymond Green and Wiseman have returned to the practice floor, both will be sidelined against the Kings.

Here is everything you need to know before the Warriors tipoff against the Kings in the preseason.

Kelly Oubre Jr. stats and highlights from Warriors preseason opening win vs. Nuggets

In his Chase Center debut for the Warriors’ first preseason game against the Denver Nuggets, Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 10 points in 22 minutes.

Along with the Golden State Warriors’ first game in nine months, the opening preseason contest on the Chase Center schedule saw the debuts of new additions to the Bay Area.

Near the start of free agency, the Warriors acquired Kelly Oubre Jr. from the Oklahoma City Thunder. On Saturday, the 25-year-old made his first appearance with the Warriors during a preseason tilt against the Denver Nuggets.

With Klay Thompson injured, Oubre Jr. laced up next to Stephen Curry as a starter in the backcourt. The Kansas product started his campaign in Golden State’s No. 12 jersey with a corner 3-pointer on an assist from Eric Paschall in the first quarter.

Via @gswchris on Twitter:

After scoring five points in the first quarter, Oubre Jr. showed up on the defensive end of the floor. With Denver’s Michael Porter Jr. driving to the basket, Oubre Jr. sprung in for his first block as a member of the Warriors.

Oubre Jr. popped on offense again in the third quarter. The slashing wing drove to the bucket on Porter Jr. to finish a tough layup with an and-one foul at the rim.

Via @warriors on Twitter:

The former Phoenix Sun swiped another block later over Paul Millsap. After the veteran big man was sent away by Oubre Jr., Curry picked up the loose ball on his way to a fast-break 3-pointer.

Adding to his defensive effort, Oubre Jr. was spotted picking up Jamal Murray full court. Oubre Jr. applied pressure to the Kentucky product for the full 94 feet.

Oubre Jr. finished the game with 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the field with four rebounds, three blocks and two assists in 22 minutes.

During Golden State’s 107-105 victory over the Nuggets, Oubre Jr. showed flashes of his versatile skill set, from his ability to get to the rim, knock down a corner 3-pointer and his active defense were all on display on Saturday.

Oubre Jr. and the Warriors will travel to Sacramento for their second preseason game on Tuesday at the Golden 1 Center.

Steph Curry stats and highlights from Warriors preseason opening win vs. Nuggets

In his return to Chase Center for the Warriors’ first preseason game against the Denver Nuggets, Steph Curry tallied 10 points in 21 minutes.

After capping off his pregame shooting routine with a new signature tunnel shot, Stephen Curry suited up for his first game in nine months.

The two-time Most Valuable Player laced up his new Curry Brand shoes against the Denver Nuggets at Chase Center for Golden State’s first preseason game of the 2020-21 run.

Following his hand injury that limited Curry to only five games in the 2019-20 campaign, the six-time All-Star guard was able to shake the rust off in Golden State’s preseason opener.

It only took Curry three minutes to notch his first points of the preseason. The sharpshooting guard swished an open three-pointer coming off a screen from Kevon Looney in the first quarter.

Via @warriors on Twitter:

However, Curry would only hit one more triple for the rest of the contest. Curry’s next triple came on a pull-up jumper on a fast break. Curry picked up the loose ball after a Kelly Oubre Jr. block in the third quarter. The 32-year-old scurried down the other end of the court to opt for a 22-footer instead of a layup.

Curry finished the game with 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting from the field with three assists, two steals and a board in 21 minutes.

The Golden State point guard’s most impressive highlight might have come from his time on the bench. With the Nuggets trailing by only one point with 20 seconds remaining, Curry attempted to fire up the empty Chase Center crowd with Denver’s Bol Bol at the free-throw line. Curry’s antics were worth it, as Bol missed the free-throw with a chance to tie the game.

Via @gswchris on Twitter:

Behind Curry’s support on the bench, the Warriors were able to hold on for the preseason victory over the Nuggets, 107-105.

Anthony Davis and LeBron James will not play in Friday’s preseason opener

The Los Angeles Lakers will play against the Los Angeles Clippers in a preseason game which will take place on Friday night.

The Los Angeles Lakers will be back inside the Staples Center to play an NBA basketball game later this evening against the Los Angeles Clippers. However, since Friday night is the first game of the preseason and the Lakers are already dealing with a historically short turnaround between seasons, L.A. will rest their two superstars, Anthony Davis and LeBron James, in the preseason opener.

Davis and James put together one of the best playoff runs that the league has ever seen in the NBA bubble, with both players carrying a major load and doing an excellent job on both sides of the ball. The Lakers face off against the Clippers, who had a memorable bubble for less impressive reasons, such as blowing a 3-1 lead in the second round to the Denver Nuggets.

It will be the first basketball game Staples Center has hosted since the season shutdown earlier in the year so it will be very interesting to see how the new health and safety protocols will change the game experience.

Rockets vs. Bulls: Live stream, how to watch, TV channel, start time

Led by new head coach Stephen Silas and offseason acquisitions like John Wall and Christian Wood, Houston opens preseason play this Friday.

The Houston Rockets visit the Chicago Bulls on Friday night to kick off preseason play for the 2020-21 NBA campaign. If you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

All-Star guard James Harden will not be with the Rockets due to his stringent COVID-19 testing protocols, which were implemented after his delayed arrival at training camp. Otherwise, new head coach Stephen Silas expects the rest of Houston’s training camp roster to be available.

Here’s when you should tune in to see the exhibition opener:

  • Date: Friday, December 11
  • Time: 7 p.m. Central
  • TV Channel: NBA TV
  • Live Stream: fuboTV (watch for free)

The Rockets and Bulls have each yet to commit to a starting lineup, since this is the first game of the season for both squads. Thus, any precedent pre-dates the current rosters. However, these are the projected lineups from NBA.com’s official game notes for each team (Rockets, Bulls).

Probable starting lineups

Houston Rockets

  • Guard: John Wall (did not play in 2019-20 due to injury)

Houston finished 44-28 (.611) in the NBA’s 2019-20 regular season and No. 4 in the Western Conference, while the Bulls were 22-43 (.338) and No. 11 in the East. The Rockets won the lone game between the teams last season in a 117-94 blowout at Chicago on Nov. 9.

Friday’s matchup will be played at Chicago’s usual home arena of United Center, albeit without fans due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Rockets and Bulls will play a second game in the same arena on Sunday.

Thunder preseason schedule announced; OKC to play 3 games

The Oklahoma City Thunder will play against the San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls in the preseason before the 2020-21 year begins.

The new-look Oklahoma City Thunder will have three games to show who they may be this year before the regular season begins.

The NBA announced the preseason schedules on Friday. Oklahoma City is scheduled to play three games, one of which is against the San Antonio Spurs and two against the Chicago Bulls.

The Spurs game will take place in San Antonio on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m.

Oklahoma City will host the Bulls on Dec. 16 and 18. Both those games will start at 7 p.m.

This will be the first opportunity to see the revamped Thunder roster. The organization is going through a rebuild and traded away its veterans that made it a playoff team last year, so there’s mystery to what this new group of players will look like.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be the primary ball handler, scorer and facilitator on offense while Lu Dort and Darius Bazley will continue working to develop in their second year as pros.

All the other players will be new to the city, so the team will be eager to see who can replace the likes of Steven Adams, Dennis Schroder and Chris Paul.

Training camp is scheduled to start on Dec. 1. The 72-game regular season will begin on Dec. 22.
