NBA draft analyst believes Hornets are leaning toward Brandon Miller

Brandon Miller is expected to be the second overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft and start his career with the Charlotte Hornets.

Brandon Miller’s single year in Tuscaloosa was a phenomenal one. He was a leader and star on the court and truly believed in the style head coach Nate Oats was trying to run. Now, Miller has his sights set on the NBA.

The San Antonio Spurs won the NBA draft lottery and will likely select Victor Wembanyama, the generational talent out of France.

However, the second overall pick, which belongs to the Charlotte Hornets has been somewhat of a mystery.

Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer recently shared his latest 2023 NBA mock draft and makes it clear that the Hornets currently prefer Miller over any other prospect.

“All indications suggest the Hornets are leaning toward Miller with this choice as a partner for LaMelo Ball. I’d go in that direction too over Scoot Henderson because Miller brings playmaking skill in his own right, on top of his go-to scoring prowess.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Miller and other former Alabama players, such as Charles Bediako and Noah Clowney as the 2023 NBA draft gets under way on June 22.

Charles Bediako chooses to remain in the NBA draft, forgo NCAA eligibility

In a surprising move, Alabama’s Charles Bediako will opt to stay in the draft instead of returning to the Crimson Tide.

The Alabama basketball program received some shocking news when an ESPN report revealed that rising junior center, Charles Bediako, will remain in the 2023 NBA draft and forgo his multiple years of NCAA eligibility.

Bediako joins two other members of the Crimson Tide in the draft, Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney. Miller is expected to be one of the first three players selected and Clowney’s name has been fluctuating throughout the second round with a chance of him being a late first-round selection.

In 2022, Bediako averaged 65.9% from the field, 6.4 points per game, 6 rebounds per game and nearly two blocks per game.

He stands at seven feet tall and was a standout player as the postseason got underway for the Crimson Tide. While this decision is somewhat puzzling, he could have a very bright future in the NBA if he lands in the right situation.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to cover Bediako and other former Alabama players as they prepare for the 2023 NBA draft.

Warriors add Duke big man Dereck Lively II in The Ringer’s post-lottery mock draft

In the Ringer’s post-lottery mock draft, the Warriors landed some help in the frontcourt at No. 19 with a young big man out of Duke.

With the San Antonio Spurs locked in at the No. 1 overall pick and the rest of the order set for the 2023 edition of the NBA draft, mock drafts continue to roll out as draft season heats up.

Different mock drafts have seen the Golden State Warriors have landed a wide variety of different young talent with the No. 19 overall pick. Players like Michigan’s Jett Howard and Indiana’s Jalen Hood-Schifino have been penciled in with the Warriors at No. 19 in early mocks.

In the latest mock from Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, the Warriors added some help alongside Kevon Looney in the frontcourt. With the No. 19 pick, the Warriors grabbed Duke big man Dereck Lively II. According to O’Connor, Lively has defensive versatility and offensive upside.

Via The Ringer:

As long as Steve Kerr is coaching the Warriors, they’ll never be a heavy pick-and-roll team. But their success running ball screens with Steph Curry in postseason situations is undeniable, which was a part of the logic behind drafting James Wiseman. Though Wiseman failed in Golden State, Lively reminded everyone why he was a highly rated high school prospect with the way he finished his season at Duke, when he emerged as one of the country’s most impactful defensive players, rebounders, and rim protectors. His offensive game needs seasoning, but pairing him with Curry could unlock his potential.

Via @KevinOConnorNBA on Twitter:

In his first season at Cameron Indoor, the 7-foot-1 19-year-old averaged 5.2 points on 65.8% shooting from the field with 5.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 20.6 minutes per game. Lively had five games with five or more blocks in his freshman season, including a career-high eight-block performance against rival North Carolina.

Lively II earned ACC All-Defensive team honors along with a spot on the ACC All-Freshman team.

Prior to signing with Duke, Lively II was a consensus five-star recruit and one of the top-rated players in the country coming out of high school in Pennslyvania. Lively II was a McDonald’s All-American.

The 2023 NBA draft is set for Thursday, June 22 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Warriors land Michigan’s Jett Howard in Rookie Wire’s mock draft 4.0

Jett Howard averaged 14.2 points on 41.4% shooting from the field and 36.8% from deep during his freshman season with the Wolverines.

With their title defense coming to an end with a second-round playoff exit, it’s time for the Golden State Warriors to turn their attention to the offseason. With the offseason headlined by questions about key figures like Bob Myers and Draymond Green, the Warriors must also keep an eye on the upcoming NBA draft.

With the 2023 draft order set by the recent lottery, mock draft season is beginning to heat up. After the San Antonio Spurs landed the No. 1 overall pick at the draft lottery on Monday, Cody Taylor of Rookie Wire dropped his latest mock draft.

With the No. 19 overall selection, the Warriors landed Michigan’s Jett Howard in Taylor’s post-lottery mock. According to Taylor, the Warriors could be getting a player with scoring and shooting ability.

Via Rookie Wire:

Howard, the son of Wolverines head coach Juwan Howard, is considered a first-round pick this year given his ability as a scorer and shooter. He has a great shooting form and can launch quickly, which will certainly be something the Warriors could use. His shooting will be what draws teams in but he has shown the ability to penetrate the paint and finish. He is projected to be a mid-to-late first-rounder this year and the Warriors could be a potential destination for him.

Read Taylor’s full mock draft via Rookie Wire here.

On the way to winning All-Big Ten team honors in his first season in Ann Arbor, Howard averaged 14.2 points on 41.4% shooting from the field and 36.8% from deep. The 6-foot-8 shooter hit 2.7 3-pointers on 7.3 attempts per contest. Howard added 2.8 rebounds and two assists in 31.8 minutes per contest.

Howard caught fire against Iowa, scoring a season-high 34 points on 12-of-22 shooting from the field with 7 made triples. Howard hit five or more 3-pointers in four different games for the Wolverines last season. He scored over 20 points in all four of those games.

The 2023 edition of the NBA draft is set for Thursday, June 22 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Five reasons why the Charlotte Hornets are the perfect fit for Alabama forward Brandon Miller

Roll Tide Wire looks at five reasons as to why the Charlotte Hornets would be the perfect fit for Alabama’s Brandon Miller.

With the NBA’s draft order now set, the expectation is that Brandon Miller, the Alabama freshman sensation, will be heading to the Charlotte Hornets at No. 2 overall. However, it’s important to remember that mock drafts and projections are purely speculation.

Interestingly enough, he would be the second Alabama player to be drafted by a professional organization in Charlotte in the last few months, with former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young being selected first overall by the Panthers.

Miller is considered a lock to be drafted within the first five picks of this year’s draft. The only question that remains is where he will land.

Roll Tide Wire makes a case for why Miller would be a perfect fit for the Charlotte Hornets organization.

Warriors add Indiana’s Jalen Hood-Schifino in The Athletic’s post-lottery 2023 NBA mock draft

The Warriors landed some help on the wing in The Athletic’s post-lottery NBA mock draft.

With the Golden State Warriors’ title defense over and the NBA draft lottery set, it’s officially time to look ahead to the draft. Following the draft lottery on Monday, and the San Antonio Spurs landing the No. 1 overall pick and presumably top prospect Victor Wembayama, mock drafts are beginning to pour in.

While the Warriors likely won’t make noise at the top of the draft with a top pick, they will have the chance to add a potential contributor with the No. 19 overall selection.

Sam Vecenie of The Athletic recently dropped his post-lottery mock draft with the Warriors landing some help on the wing. At No. 19, Vecenie penned Indiana’s Jalen Hood-Schifino to the Warriors. According to Vecenie, the 20-year-old wing is a “strong on ball defender” with the ability to handle the ball.

Via The Athletic:

Hood-Schifino is a well-rounded, young prospect who won the Big Ten’s Rookie of the Year award this past season, carrying the Indiana perimeter while averaging 13 points, four rebounds and four assists. He’s also a very strong on-ball defender with real size for a ballhandler at 6-6. He’s shown great unselfishness and comfort in ball screens, with a penchant for knocking down midrange jumpers. However, he’s not a particularly adept shooter off the catch yet and will need some fine-tuning in that regard. If he can improve that and some decision-making questions, Hood-Schifino could get on the court a touch earlier than most one-and-dones. But the shooting needs to improve, as he made just 33.3 percent from 3.

Read Vecenie’s full mock draft via The Athletic here.

In his freshman season under Mike Woodson at Assembly Hall, Hood-Schifino averaged 13.5 points on 41.7% shooting from the field to go along with 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest.

The Warriors will have until June 22 to prepare and scourt for the 2023 edition of the draft.

Brandon Miller falls outside of top 3 in latest 2023 NBA mock draft

Brandon Miller lands with a young team in the top 5, according to the latest 2023 NBA mock draft.

The 2023 NBA draft lottery is just around the corner, which will inform all basketball enthusiasts where superstar International prospect Victor Wembanyama will begin his professional career. After the first overall pick, there is some uncertainty regarding who will be selected where.

Former Alabama standout freshman Brandon Miller is one of the top prospects in the draft class and could be drafted as high as No. 2.

In the latest mock draft done by Bryan Kalbrosky of For The Win, Miller is selected at No. 4 by the Charlotte Hornets.

[H]e had a nightmarish month during the NCAA men’s tournament and, perhaps due to a groin injury, struggled while on the court,” writes Kalbrosky. “Miller was highly inefficient on 2-pointers and when finishing at the rim when he was matched up against a strong opponent, which was an alarming trend for Miller throughout the year.

Also concerning: Miller is celebrated for shooting 40.4 percent from beyond the arc during the regular season but he was actually just 35-for-113 (30.9 percent) on 3-pointers taken from NBA distance while at Alabama, per AI-Powered statistics provided by Stats Perform.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Brandon Miller and his journey through the NBA draft process as it progresses.

Brandon Miller projected to land with Houston Rockets in NBA mock draft

Brandon Miller is the third overall pick in the latest 2023 NBA mock draft.

Brandon Miller is one of the greatest basketball players to play at the University of Alabama. Though he was only a member of the Crimson Tide for a single season, he will be remembered for his leadership and elite play. Now, he has his sights set on the NBA.

International superstar Victor Wembanyama is practically the guaranteed first-overall pick. However, some uncertainty lingers regarding the second pick.

Cody Taylor of Rookie Wire believes Scoot Henderson of the NBA G-League Ignite will be selected second overall, which ultimately leads to Miller being the third player drafted.

Taylor has Miller being drafted to the Houston Rockets in the latest 2023 NBA mock draft.

“Miller had quite a season with the Crimson Tide and is now expected to be a top-three pick this year. He was named a consensus second-team All-American after averaging 18.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists on 38.4% shooting from 3-point range. He was the first player to win the SEC Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and conference tournament MVP in the same season, and was the fourth freshman in the last 50 years to lead the SEC in scoring.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Miller as he prepares for the 2023 NBA draft, which is set to take place on June 22, 2023.

2023 NBA Mock Draft 4.0: Predicting all 58 picks before March Madness begins

Let’s check the temperature before March Madness shakes everything up.

As college basketball fans gear up for conference tournaments and March Madness, NBA scouts are busier than ever in their evaluation process.

Prospects are beginning to separate themselves as lottery picks and first-round talents, while others are fighting and clawing their way up big boards to find themselves in a draftable range.

While we can expect a ton of movement after the tournament is over, it is always helpful to take a barometer read of where things stood before all of the March Madness chaos.

Some of the players who were excluded from these projections were not listed because we project they will go back to school. We will have a much clearer picture of who is actually declaring for the draft after the early entry deadline on April 13.

Our draft order is from Tankathon and is accurate as of March 3. We will have an official draft order after the lottery on May 16. It is one of the most anticipated lotteries in recent memory as the winner will, in all likelihood, select Victor Wembanyama. But what comes next?

Brandon Miller selected top 5 in latest 2023 NBA mock draft

Could Brandon Miller begin his NBA career with this Eastern Conference team?

Though the college basketball season is not yet close to an end, it’s always fun to look ahead and see where the nation’s biggest stars could begin their respective NBA journeys.

For Alabama’s Brandon Miller, it could be with the Orlando Magic at No. 4 overall, according to a recent Sports Illustrated 2023 NBA mock draft by Jeremy Woo.

“Miller is not a powerful finisher and has to develop a bit more physically, placing him somewhere in the vein of a prospect like Brandon Ingram, who took some time to adjust but successfully put all his skills to use over the course of his career. It’s important not to overlook the fact that Miller is old for a freshman, having turned 20 years old in November, placing him in the same age bracket as college sophomores and a number of current young NBA players. But draft positioning tends to hang more on long-term projection than anything else, and as long as Miller continues to pour in buckets over the course of SEC play, he’s likely to hear his name called early.”

Miller is likely to continue impressing fans and NBA scouts alike as the 2022-2023 college basketball season rolls on.
