Tiare Jennings earns Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week honors

For her efforts in Oklahoma’s sweep of the Texas Longhorns, Tiare Jennings was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week.

It was an emphatic three-game series sweep for the Oklahoma Sooners against the Texas Longhorns. They outscored their Red River rivals 22-5 in the series, picking up a run-rule win in the finale.

At the center of it all was arguably the best player in the country, Tiare Jennings. Oklahoma’s second baseman has been the hottest player in Amercia over the last week and a half, and that continued against Texas.

She hit .727 with two home runs, a double, eight RBIs, and four runs scored to help propel the Oklahoma Sooners to wins in game one and game three of the series.

For her efforts, Jennings was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week.

It’s Jennings’ second national award in her career. The frontrunner for Player of the Year has been coming on strong of late. Over Oklahoma’s last eight games, Jennings has hit .480 with five home runs and 17 RBIs. She now leads the team with 39 runs batted in and is tied with Jayda Coleman for the team lead in home runs.

As the Sooners get set to host Texas Tech for a three-game series starting on Thursday night, Jennings is doing some of her best work at the plate. Coleman is one of the best players in the country, if not the best. And she showed why again in the Sooners’ sweep of the Longhorns.
