Five-star cornerbacks flips from Ohio State to Big Ten rival

The Ohio State Buckeyes not only lost to Michigan in the last week, but they also lost the commitment of a five-star cornerback.

Ohio State football has had a rough week.

The Buckeyes, who have one of the best incoming recruiting classes and several five-star players coming to Columbus next season, lost one Wednesday as Na’eem Offord flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Oregon.

Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Offord is the No. 2-ranked cornerback in the Class of 2025. He is the top player from the state of Alabama and is a top-15 player nationally.

Here’s his confirmation of the breaking news on X.

Offord took an official to Ohio State on June 21 and was recruited by Tim Walton and Gerran DuHart. He had committed to the Buckeyes back on February 4, 2024, visiting Auburn and Alabama after that.

Thankfully, the Buckeyes still have Devin Sanchez set to bring his talents from Texas to Ohio. He is the No. 1-ranked cornerback in the class and fifth-best player nationally.

With five-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair also set to join Ohio State next season, there will be an abundance of riches in Columbus. Let’s hope Ryan Day, or whoever is leading the charge, can get the most out of them.

Ohio State football five-star commit dispels any rumors of him flipping

Great news for the Buckeyes! #GoBucks

It’s pretty normal with Southern recruits to commit to a program, even when they are still looking at others schools.

Multiple Ohio State football commits have taken official visits, and with that comes rumors of flipping. One of those players who has done so is Alabama cornerback, [autotag]Na’eem Offord[/autotag], who has taken official visits to Oregon, Alabama, and Auburn.

The 6-foot, 1-inch, 185-pound corner also took one to Columbus, and it just confirmed what he already knew, he’s a Buckeye. That still won’t stop rumors, and on Tuesday night, Offord dispelled any ideas of a potential flip with this statement.

As one of the highest ranked current 2025 commits, the No. 7 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Offord is one of the gems of the Ohio State class. Hopefully his statement cools off other teams from trying to flip him.

Ohio State football commit Na’eem Offord is luring 2 elite prospects to join him

The Buckeye commit is working hard to get two of his friends to join him

Ohio State football has used a different component of recruiting over the last few years, having its commitments help out with uncommitted prospect to lure them to join up.

Buckeye cornerback commit [autotag]Na’eem Offord[/autotag] is doing his best to do just that, as he told On3’s Mick Walker that he’s recruiting his follow Alabaman’s [autotag]Zion Grady[/autotag] and [autotag]Malik Autry[/autotag] who is committed to Auburn.

Both play on the defensive line, with Grady viewed as more of an outside player and Autry on the inside. Each is also highly viewed as a recruit, with Autry ranked as the No. 180 overall prospect while Grady is No. 66 according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Alabama to Columbus movement has started, and it looks like more could be on the way.

Ohio State has three five-star commits in 247Sports new rankings

Ohio State has three commits in 247Sports new rankings #GoBucks

The Ohio State football recruiting class of 2025 is shaping up to be a huge one as evidenced by the updated recruiting rankings released Wednesday by 247Sports. The Buckeyes currently have a dozen commitments and are currently ranked as the number two class in the country for the class of 2025.

The three top dogs in the class are all rated as five-stars according to the updated rankings, with quarterback Tavien St. Clair getting one of the larger bumps from being ranked the No. 6 player in the country all the way up to No. 2. It is not surprising to see him rise up the rankings, as the now five-star plays at a smaller school in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and therefore the exposure isn’t as strong. You can likely credit the rise due to his elite showings during off-season camps.

The other two five-stars are Devin Sanchez, the cornerback from Texas, and Na’eem Offord, the cornerback from Alabama.

Is Ohio State in danger of losing a 5-star commit to rival Big Ten program?

This isn’t great new for the Buckeyes. #GoBucks

In the 2025 recruiting cycle, Ohio State football has commitments from more than a few of the top secondary players in the country.

One of those is Alabama cornerback, [autotag]Na’eem Offord[/autotag], who has been committed to the Buckeyes since early February. At 6-foot, 1-inch and 185-pounds, he’s one of the nation’s best, ranking as the No. 6 overall player and 2nd corner according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

With most 5-stars, it’s a battle until they sign, and it looks like Ohio State is in the midst of one. Offord unofficially visited Oregon over the weekend, and it looks like the visit went well as he will also make an official to Eugene in the future according to a report by On3.

Ohio State also has Devin Sanchez, DeShawn Stewart and Cody Haddad committed as members of the secondary, but would obviously hate to loose Offord to the Ducks.

Scouts view: Ohio State’s newest commit, 5-star cornerback Na’eem Offord

The Buckeyes got another elite corner in Na’eem Offord and you can expect him to see the field early. #GoBucks

Ohio State football kept its recruiting momentum going on Sunday as 2025 5-star Alabama cornerback, [autotag]Na’eem Offord[/autotag], committed to the Buckeyes.

Yet another recruiting win for Tim Walton, who has transformed his corners room into a plethora of elite prospects which includes Offord and his 5-star classmate, Devin Sanchez. If they both ultimately do sign with Ohio State, it would be the second time that the Buckeyes got the top two corners in the country following 2017 with Jeff Okudah and Shaun Wade.

After watching Offord’s junior highlight film, it’s easy to see why he is considered the top corner in his class. Find out what kind of skill set he will bring with him to Columbus below.

Ohio State football lands elite 5-star 2025 cornerback

BOOOOOOOM! Buckeyes stay hot on the recruiting trail

As reported, Ohio State football hosted 2025 cornerback [autotag]Na’eem Offord[/autotag] on a visit this weekend.

The whole family made the trip to Columbus and it went well. So well, that Offord committed to the Buckeyes on Sunday morning, giving them a second 5-star cornerback in the class.

The Alabama native stands 6-foot, 1-inch, and weighs 180-pounds, and is ranked as the No. 1 cornerback and 5th overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Offord chose Ohio State over a multitude of other offers, including in-state Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU and Michigan.

Offord becomes the eighth total commit for the Buckeyes in the 2025 recruiting class, and joins cornerback Devin Sanchez as the second 5-star in the group.

A ton of credit has to go to cornerbacks coach Tim Walton, as he continues an impressive stretch of adding elite talent to his position group.

Ohio State football gets a crystal ball pick for another elite 2025 cornerback

Tim Walton is on a crazy recruiting run if this one pans out

It’s safe to say that Ohio State football cornerback coach, Tim Walton, is becoming one of the best recruiters in the nation.

Over the past few cycles, Walton has been the lead in numerous high end corners and the 2025 class is looking like he’s going to keep that momentum going. Already in the fold is Texas 5-star Devin Sanchez, and now it looks like another elite prospect could be joining him.

247Sports Bill Kurelic is reporting (subscription required) that Alabama’s [autotag]Na’eem Offord[/autotag] will visit Columbus this weekend. To add more fuel to the fire with the Buckeyes, Steve Wiltfong, 247Sports director of football recruiting put in a crystal ball pick for Ohio State to land the No. 1 corner and 5th overall player in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Offord has great size at 6-foot, 1-inch and 185-pounds, and is a big-time talent. He’d make a great addition to the Ohio State 2025 class and strengthen BIA.

Report: Ohio State will host 5-star Alabama cornerback

Will another elite cornerback land in Columbus?

If you think the broken record about Alabama prospects and Ohio State football is getting out of hand, you might be right.

It is a talent-rich program, and the Buckeyes are doing exactly what they should now that the door is open. Already three former Crimson Tide players have transferred to Columbus and now one of the state’s best high school prospects is looking hard at Ohio State.

[autotag]Na’eem Offord[/autotag], a 6-foot, 1-inch, and 185-pound 2025 cornerback is set to visit the Buckeyes according to a report by 247Sports Steve Wiltfong (subscription required). Although Ohio State already has commits from Devin Sanchez and Blake Woodby at the position, they are looking to land another elite prospect.

Offord, like his potential future teammates, is ranked as one of the best at his position and in the country. The 247Sports Composite Rankings has him as the No. 1 cornerback and 6th overall prospect in the nation.

His visit has been set for the weekend of February 2, as Wiltfong reports that Offord has “built a great rapport with the whole staff led by Tim Walton.”
