Notre Dame football makes the top-6 for 4-star Florida wide receiver

This would be a big recruiting win for the Irish

There are more than a few areas where Notre Dame football had needed to step up in recruiting, when head coach Marcus Freeman took over.

One of the was at quarterback, but it seems like the Irish have fixed that area. Another was at wide receiver, which is still a work in progress. Notre Dame hasn’t quite gotten over the hump with the pass catchers, but that could be changing in the 2026 cycle.

Florida wide receiver [autotag]Naeem Burroughs[/autotag], a 5-foot, 11-inch and 160-pound prospect narrowed his list down to 6 teams, with the Irish making the cut. As the nation’s No. 59 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he’s going to be a game-changer for whichever program ends up signing him.

Hopefully that program resides in South Bend, as they could use a shifty, speedy slot receiver. It seems like Burroughs already has an idea of when and what he is looking for, so don’t expect this recruitment to drag on much longer.

Wisconsin top class of 2026 WR target includes Badgers in final list

Wisconsin top class of 2026 WR target includes Badgers in final list

Wisconsin top class of 2026 wide receiver target Naeem Burroughs included the Badgers in his list of final schools on Thursday.

Burroughs is yet another top class of 2026 recruit to include Wisconsin as a finalist dating back to late October. Top-ranked offensive players, including four-star interior offensive lineman Leo Delaney, four-star running back Shahn Alston, and four-star iOL Ben Nichols, accompany Burroughs on that list.

Burroughs, who included the Badgers in his final 11 in July 2024, now includes them in his top six along with Clemson, Notre Dame, Florida State, Texas and Florida.

If the last name sounds familiar to Badger fans, that’s because Naeem is the younger brother of current Wisconsin wide receiver Quincy Burroughs. Naeem is a much more talented high school recruit than his older brother.

The 5-foot-11, 160-pound wide receiver is 247Sports’ No. 59 player in the class of 2026, No. 10 WR and No. 8 player from his home state of Florida. Rivals, meanwhile, has Burroughs as the No. 44 overall prospect.

On3, 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN all consider him a four-star recruit

Burroughs has yet to receive any truly convincing forecasts for his collegiate landing spot. On3’s recruiting prediction machine considers the in-state Florida Gators a slight favorite, but it’s too early to tell.

As a junior with the Bolles School in Florida, Burroughs has reeled in 33 catches for 829 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, including a three-game stretch with 448 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.

The familial connection to his older brother could certainly play a factor in what Burroughs decides to do down the line. UW’s current class of 2026 still features two commitments — three-star iOL Benjamin Novak and three-star quarterback Jarin Mock.

Wisconsin named a finalist by the brother of a current Badgers WR

Wisconsin was included in wide receiver Naeem Burroughs’ top 11 schools on Friday. The 5-foot-11 athlete is the younger brother of current Badgers redshirt sophomore wide receiver Quincy Burroughs, who is entering his second year in Madison.

Naeem Burroughs is a four-star player in the class of 2026. Burroughs’ final 11 list also included Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee and USC.

The four-star wide receiver is ranked as 247Sports’ No. 78 player in the class, No. 10 wide receiver and No. 10 recruit from his home state of Florida.

Burroughs reeled in 47 catches for 1,019 yards and 15 touchdowns during his sophomore season with The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. Notable in-state teams to make his final 11 schools include Florida, Florida State and Miami.

On top of football, Burroughs has shown off his skills as a track athlete in his time in high school. He was a gold medal as a part of the 4×100 team at the Florida High School Athletic Association’s Class 2A meet in 2023, while also qualifying for regionals in the 100-meter dash.

With the familial connection, Wisconsin can be considered a favorite to remain in the mix for Burroughs as he narrows his options down the road.

Notre Dame football offers Florida 2026 wide receiver

Its an early offer, but one that could play dividends down the road

Even though the 2026 class is a few years away from signing, Notre Dame football is already making its presence known with a Florida wide receiver.

[autotag]Naeem Burroughs[/autotag] just completed his sophomore season, one that saw him catch 47 balls for 1,019 yards with 15 touchdowns. He’s also a big time returner, accounting for 435 yards on special teams.

That kind of statistical dominance helped the Irish make a decision to offer Burroughs, which they did on Thursday. At 6-foot and 165-pounds, the Floridian will most likely be a slot receiver at the next level, but there is plenty of time for him to grow into an outside player as well.

At the current moment, Burroughs is ranked as the No. 6 wide receiver and 44th overall prospect in his class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
