2020 NFL MVP Odds: Is Aaron Jones worth a bet?

Analyzing the betting odds to be named the NFL’s 2020 MVP, with a look at whether Aaron Jones is worthy of a bet this season.

Do you think Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones has what it takes to win the 2020 NFL MVP? Let’s examine his chances, the BetMGM NFL futures odds around it happening and whether or not Jones is worth an MVP bet.

Recent NFL MVP winners

  • 2012: Adrian Peterson: 348 carries, 2,097 yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 40 receptions, 217 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD | Minnesota Vikings’ record: 10-6, 2nd in NFC North
  • 2006: LaDainian Tomlinson: 348 carries, 1,815 rushing yards, 28 rushing TDs, 56 receptions, 508 receiving yards, 3 receiving TDs | San Diego Chargers’ record: 14-2, 1st in AFC West, 1st in AFC

Aaron Jones’ 2020 NFL MVP odds

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday, March 25 at 2 a.m. ET.

Jones is a considerable MVP underdog with odds of +12500. He shares those odds with teammate WR Davante Adams, QB Dwayne Haskins (Washington Redskins), running back Le’Veon Bell (New York Jets) and WRs Odell Beckham Jr. (Cleveland Browns), Tyreek Hill (Kansas City Chiefs) and Julio Jones (Atlanta Falcons).

Nine running backs, 30 quarterbacks, one wide receiver and five defensive players have better odds than Jones. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has the lowest odds of anyone on the Green Bay roster at +1600.

Aaron Jones’ stats

Jones will enter his fourth NFL season with 450 total carries for 2,260 yards and 28 rushing touchdowns, and 84 career receptions for 702 yards and four receiving scores. He enjoyed a breakout 2019 campaign, leading the NFL with 16 rushing TDs on a career-high 236 carries for 1,084 yards in coach Matt LaFleur’s first season with the Packers.

The 25-year-old started all 16 games in a season for the first time in his career last year with Jamaal Williams put into a backup role.

Is Aaron Jones worth a 2020 NFL MVP bet?

Likely working against Jones is a lack of notoriety as a fifth-round pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, despite the fact he led the league in rushing scores last year. It’s hard to envision a Packers player not named Aaron Rodgers taking home MVP honors if any individual is to receive solo credit for the team’s success.

PASS on placing a bet on Jones, even though he carries much more profitable odds than his QB.

Kyler Murray’s MVP odds barely longer than Tom Brady’s

NFL MVP futures odds have Murray at 25/1 to win the award in 2020.

The Arizona Cardinals hope and believe that quarterback Kyler Murray can make a big jump from his rookie year to his second year, much in the way quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson did. Both were league MVPs in their second season.

Could Murray be the third player in a row to do it?

According to BetMGM’s 2020 NFL MVP futures odds, Murray isn’t too much of a longshot. He has the sixth-shortest odds overall at +2500 (25/1). Those odds are tied with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and longer than only nine other quarterbacks.

The favorite is Mahomes at +325, followed by Jackson and Seattle’s Russell Wilson at +500. Then, it is Drew Brees at +1400, Aaron Rodgers at +1600 and Tom Brady, Deshaun Watson, Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott at +2000.

Murray was the league’s offensive rookie of the year after passing for more than 3.500 yards and rushing for more than 500. He gets running back Kenyan Drake back and the Cardinals added receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

Murray as league MVP could be a real possibility. It certainly is worth at least a small wager, especially with the potential payout.

And if he is in the MVP conversation, it is good news for the Cardinals because it means they are very good in 2020.

Do you think Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams has what it takes to win the 2020 NFL MVP? Let’s examine his chances, the BetMGM NFL futures odds around it happening and whether or not Adams is worth an MVP bet.

Recent NFL MVP winners

  • 2019 Lamar Jackson: 3,127 passing yards, 36 touchdowns vs. 6 interceptions, 1,206 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns | Baltimore Ravens’ record: 14-2, 1st in AFC North, 1st in AFC
  • 2018 Patrick Mahomes: 5,097 passing yards, 50 TDs vs. 12 INTs, 272 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs | Kansas City Chiefs’ record: 12-4, 1st in AFC West, 1st in AFC

  • 2015 Cam Newton: 3,837 passing yards, 35 TDs vs. 10 INTs, 636 rushing yards, 10 rushing TDs | Carolina Panthers’ record: 15-1, 1st in NFC South, 1st in NFC

Davante Adams’ 2020 NFL MVP odds

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday, March 25 at 1:50 a.m. ET.

Adams shares MVP odds of +12500 with fellow wideouts Odell Beckham Jr. (Cleveland Browns), Tyreek Hill (Kansas City Chiefs) and Julio Jones (Atlanta Falcons), as well as QB Dwayne Haskins (Washington Redskins) and RBs Le’Veon Bell (New York Jets) and Aaron Jones (Packers).

Only New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (+10000) has lower MVP odds among receivers. Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins (+15000) is the only other WR with offseason MVP odds.

Adams and Jones are tied for second among Packers players by the MVP odds. QB Aaron Rodgers is +1600 as the fifth most likely favorite of all 2020 candidates.

Davante Adams’ stats

Adams was voted to the Pro Bowl for the third straight season in 2019 despite being limited to just 12 games by injury. He finished with 83 receptions for 997 yards and five touchdowns as the No. 1 option in Rodgers’ passing attack.

WR Allen Lazard ranked second on the team in receiving yards with 477. He caught 35 of 52 targets and scored just three touchdowns. Jones ranked second on the team with 68 targets to Adams’ 127.

Is Davante Adams worth a 2020 NFL MVP bet?

PASS on wagering on Adams to win the 2020 NFL MVP award. Rodgers and Jones are both more likely candidates from within his own team, and Thomas and Hopkins are more likely options to be the first wide receiver to ever take home the honor.

Julio Jones’ 2020 NFL MVP odds

Jones’ +12500 odds tie him as the second most likely wide receiver to be named the 2020 NFL MVP. He trails New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (+10000) and is tied with Davante Adams of the Green Bay Packers, Odell Beckham Jr. of the Cleveland Browns and Tyreek Hill of the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

The odds are stacked against all five of the top wideouts as no wide receiver has ever won the Associated Press MVP award.

Julio Jones’ stats

Jones topped 1,000 receiving yards for the sixth straight season in 2019. He finished the campaign with 99 receptions for 1,394 yards and six touchdowns. It was his lowest yardage total since recording 580 yards while being limited to five games in 2013.

He twice scored two touchdowns in a game last season, and he posted a season-high 166 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the seventh time in nine seasons.

Is Julio Jones worth a 2020 NFL MVP bet?

I’ll PASS on an MVP bet for Jones, largely due to the unlikelihood of any wide receiver taking home the award. If Jones is able to post MVP-caliber numbers, QB Ryan will likely receive a larger share of the credit as a former MVP winner.

Additionally, there are just too many mouths to feed in the Falcons’ star-studded offense with WRs Calvin Ridley and Laquon Treadwell, TE Hayden Hurst and RB Todd Gurley.

If looking to bet a wide receiver in 2020, look to new Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins at +15000. He’ll receive more credit for helping to turn around the Cards following his trade acquisition from the Houston Texans.

2020 NFL MVP Odds: Is Drew Brees worth a bet?

Analyzing the betting odds to be named the NFL’s 2020 MVP, with a look at whether Drew Brees is worthy of a bet this season.

Do you think New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees has what it takes to win the 2020 NFL MVP?

We are still months away from the 2020 NFL season but it isn’t too early to start projecting who will step up and be the MVP in the upcoming season.  Despite a Hall of Fame career, Brees has never won the award, even with consistently posting dominant numbers as a passer.

The 2020 MVP futures odds are already out. Let’s examine his chances, the BetMGM NFL futures odds around it happening and whether or not Brees is worth a bet.

Recent NFL MVP winners

The last seven league MVPs and 12 of the last 13 have been quarterbacks. Each of the last four MVPs led the NFL in some major passing statistic. 2019 winner Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens) and 2018 winner Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs) had the most touchdown passes. 2017 winner Tom Brady, then with the New England Patriots, led the NFL in passing yards. 2016 MVP Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons had the highest passer rating. In Cam Newton’s 2015 MVP season, he led the Carolina Panthers to a 15-1 regular season. Aaron Rodgers’ 2014 MVP season with the Green Bay Packers was highlighted by 38 TD passes and only five interceptions. All six QBs led their team to the playoffs.

Drew Brees’ 2020 NFL MVP odds

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday, March 27 at 3:20 p.m. ET.

BREES’ odds for winning MVP are +1400. Only three players have shorter odds. Mahomes is +325, while Jackson and Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson and both +500. The top 12 favorites are all quarterbacks.

Drew Brees’ stats

A thumb injury limited Brees to 11 games last season. He still went 8-3 as the Saints made the postseason, and led the NFL in completion percentage at 74.3%. However, he failed to pass for at least 3,000 yards for the first time since 2003 when he also only played 11 games. He had 27 touchdown passes and only four interceptions last season. It was only the second time since 2007 that he did not reach 30 TD passes. He led them to the playoffs for the third year in a row as the Saints won the NFC South each time.

Is Drew Brees worth a 2020 NFL MVP bet?

This offseason, the Saints added another top receiver by signing free agent Emmanuel Sanders to pair with Michael Thomas. The Saints are set up as the favorites to win the NFC South once again with plans of playing deep into the postseason. If Brees is healthy, he should put up big numbers for a really good Saints team. That makes him ABSOLUTELY WORTH A BET AS THE LEAGUE MVP AT +1400.

2020 NFL MVP Odds: Is Matt Ryan worth a bet?

Do you think Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has what it takes to win the 2020 NFL MVP? Let’s examine his chances, the BetMGM NFL futures odds around it happening and whether or not Ryan is worth an MVP bet – he won in 2016.

Recent NFL MVP winners

  • 2019 Lamar Jackson: 3,127 passing yards, 36 touchdowns vs. 6 interceptions, 1,206 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns | Baltimore Ravens’ record: 14-2, 1st in AFC North, 1st in AFC
  • 2018 Patrick Mahomes: 5,097 passing yards, 50 TDs vs. 12 INTs, 272 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs | Kansas City Chiefs’ record: 12-4, 1st in AFC West, 1st in AFC

Ryan possesses offseason odds of +3000 to win the 2020 honor. Fourteen quarterbacks have lower odds. Running backs Saquon Barkley (New York Giants), Derrick Henry (Tennessee Titans) and Christian McCaffrey (Panthers) follow Ryan, all at +3300.

The Falcons QB has the third-best odds of NFC South quarterbacks. New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees is the division favorite at +1400 and new Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady is +2000. New Falcons RB Todd Gurley is the next-best favorite in Atlanta at +10000.

Matt Ryan’s stats

Ryan was one of several Falcons stars to struggle in 2019. He led the league with 408 pass completions in 15 games played, but he completed a modest 66.2% of his passes for 4,466 yards with just 26 touchdowns against 14 interceptions. He rushed for a career-high 147 yards, but scored just one rushing touchdown.

He took a league-high 48 sacks in 2019.

Is Matt Ryan worth a 2020 NFL MVP bet?

An improved offensive line backed by returns to health for 2019 first-round picks G Chris Lindstrom and T Kaleb McGary will go a long way in keeping Ryan upright and more efficient in 2020. RB Devonta Freeman and TE Austin Hooper have moved on and were replaced by Gurley, TE Hayden Hurst and WR Laquon Treadwell.

Ryan is an appealing MVP bet with considerably higher odds than both Brees and Brady. If the Falcons are somehow able to pull off an upset in one of the NFL’s toughest divisions, Ryan would get plenty of credit as a former MVP winner.

BET MATT RYAN AT +3000.

2020 NFL MVP Odds: Is Russell Wilson worth a bet?

Analyzing the betting odds to be named the NFL’s 2020 MVP, with a look at whether Russell Wilson is worthy of a bet this season.

Do you think Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has what it takes to win the 2020 NFL MVP?

He’s surprisingly never received a single vote for MVP in his NFL career, but Wilson remains one of the best quarterbacks in the league. The success he’s had with Seattle is bound to continue in 2020 as the team looks like Super Bowl contenders once again. We’ll take a look at whether Wilson can actually take home the NFL MVP based on past history and future projections.

Let’s examine his chances, the BetMGM NFL futures odds around it happening and whether or not Wilson is worth a bet.

Recent NFL MVP winners

A quarterback has won NFL MVP in each of the last seven seasons, which is a positive trend for Wilson. The Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson did it last year as a dual-threat player, rushing for 1,206 yards and leading the NFL with 36 touchdown passes. The Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes had 5,097 passing yards with 50 touchdowns in 2018 when he won the award, while Tom Brady’s 4,577 passing yards and 32 TDs for the New England Patriots led to him winning MVP in 2017.

Wilson will need to throw for at least 4,500 yards and toss no fewer than 30 touchdowns if he wants to win MVP in 2020, a combination he’s never had in his career.

Russell Wilson’s 2020 NFL MVP odds

Wilson is +500 to win the 2020 MVP, just behind the favorite Mahomes (+325). Seattle’s Wilson is also +500 as the these three are far ahead of the competition. The next-closest player is New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees  at +1400.

Looking to place a bet on the 2020 NFL MVP? Place your legal sports wagers online at BetMGM. Bet now!

Russell Wilson’s stats

Wilson had one of his best seasons in the NFL last year, throwing for 4,110 yards, 31 touchdowns and a career-low five interceptions. He also took a league-high 48 sacks, so he’ll need help from his O-line in 2020 if he wants to win MVP.

Is Russell Wilson worth a 2020 NFL MVP bet?

The Seahawks play in arguably the toughest division in football with the Los Angeles Rams, Arizona Cardinals and the NFC defending champion San Francisco 49ers all on the schedule twice. If Seattle can win 11 games going through that gauntlet in 2020, it’ll greatly help Wilson’s chances, especially if he’s clutch late in games.

Wilson has all the tools to win MVP and plays the most important position in football, which makes him a good bet. At +500, he may not have the upside of someone like Carson Wentz (+2000), but Wilson is deservingly one of the favorites to win the award.

NFL MVP odds: Is Dak Prescott worth the bet?

Analyzing the betting odds to be named the NFL’s 2020 MVP, with a look at whether Dak Prescott is worthy of a bet this season.

Do you think Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has what it takes to win the 2020 NFL MVP? Below, we are taking a look at MVP futures odds for the 2020 NFL season. Let’s examine his chances, the BetMGM NFL futures odds around it happening, and whether or not Prescott is worth a bet.

Recent NFL MVP winners

2019 – QB Lamar Jackson

2018 – QB Patrick Mahomes

2017 – QB Tom Brady

2016 – QB Matt Ryan

2015 – QB Cam Newton

2014 – QB Aaron Rodgers

Prescott’s current odds to win the NFL MVP sit at +2000. There are five players with better odds to win the award, all of which are quarterbacks. Here are the five quarterbacks ahead of Prescott and their current odds to take home the award:

Kansas City Chiefs QB Mahomes (+325)

Baltimore Ravens QB Jackson (+500)

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson (+500)

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (+1400)

Green Bay Packers QB Rodgers (+1600)

It is worth noting that the quarterbacks have won the award in seven consecutive seasons.

Dak Prescott‘s 2019 stats

Prescott had the best season of his career in 2019, throwing for career-highs in yards (4,902) and touchdowns (30) with a 99.7 percent passer rating. Prescott did see a drop in his rushing production, only gaining 277 yards (52 carries) on the ground. But it was a worthwhile tradeoff as Prescott became one of the league’s best passers.

Is Dak Prescott worth a 2020 NFL MVP bet?

In his first season under new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Prescott saw a massive surge in production. He became one of the best deep-ball passers in the NFL, averaging 9.3 air yards per pass attempt. With Mike McCarthy now on board as the team’s head coach, it’s fair to expect the Cowboys to continue to throw the ball early and often.

For Prescott to win this award, he would likely need to repeat his 2019 stat totals, and the Cowboys would need to be a legit contender in the NFC. But with the Cowboys still having one of the most talented offenses in the league, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they needed to score even more after losing a significant amount of talent on defense.

Prescott probably won’t win the 2020 NFL MVP, but it’s not hard to see the pathway for success for the fifth-year quarterback. But at 20-1 odds, Prescott isn’t a bad bet considering his recent caliber of play and the talent around him. Look for Prescott to continue to build off his strong 2019 numbers, but to fall short of taking home this honor.

Patrick Mahomes’ 2019 stats

Mahomes played and started 14 games last season, while passing for 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns against five interceptions. He added 218 rushing yards and another two scores on the ground in the regular season.

He then led the Chiefs to the Super Bowl LIV title in just his second full season under center. He totaled 901 passing yards with 10 touchdowns against two interceptions across three playoff games.

Is Patrick Mahomes worth a 2020 NFL MVP bet?

At +325, Mahomes is the odds-on favorite to win his second NFL MVP award in three years.

After dominating in the playoffs and winning the Super Bowl, it’s not hard to get behind the idea of Mahomes winning his second MVP award. He plays in an offense that is going to throw the ball a ton and he’s only getting better as a passer.

At +325, his odds to win the NFL MVP are surprisingly favorable. He’s the best quarterback in the league and will be surrounded by a ton of weapons once again in 2020. After a few weeks at the beginning of the season, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this number dropped to EVEN odds due to the insane type of stats he could put up in Andy Reid’s offense. 2020 NFL MVP Odds: Is Daniel Jones worth a bet?

Analyzing the betting odds to be named the NFL’s 2020 MVP, with a look at whether Daniel Jones is worthy of a bet this season.

Do you think New York Giants QB Daniel Jones has what it takes to win the 2020 NFL MVP?

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson picked up the 2019 NFL MVP, a huge value if you bet on the signal caller during the preseason or early into the regular season. The Giants are retooling their defense, which should make the team much better in the win-loss department. But will it be enough for the sophomore signal caller to be the most valuable player in the league?

Let’s examine his chances, the BetMGM NFL futures odds around it happening and whether or not Jones is worth a bet.

Recent NFL MVP winners

Jones will certainly have a huge hill to climb, as Jackson was a tremendous talent who piled up some amazing numbers both through the air and on the ground. In 2018, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes won the award, and, oh by the way, he is the defending Super Bowl MVP, too. Before that it was QB Tom Brady, as Tom Terrific notched his third MVP in 2017. The good news for Jones and his chances is that a quarterback has claimed the MVP award in each of the past seven seasons, and 12 of the past 13.

Jones is listed as (+8000), which makes him a rather long shot against the rest of the field, including Jackson at (+500), Mahomes (+325) and Brady (+2000), now of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Daniel Jones stats

Jones took over the reins of the Big Blue offense from two-time Super Bowl winner Eli Manning, who has since retired. Jones appeared in 13 games, completing 61.9 percent of his passes for 3,027 yards, 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while posting a QB rating of 87.7. He also ran for 279 yards and two scores, losing three fumbles.

Is Daniel Jones worth a 2020 NFL MVP bet?

Jones is a long shot, and for good reason. The G-Men are making some nice improvements on the defensive side of the ball, but they still have some holes along the offensive line, and a very mediocre wideout corps. That works against Jones and his chances. If RB Saquon Barkley can stay healthy, Jones will have a good guy out of the backfield for dump-offs, helping to improve his completion percentage, as well as his overall yardage and touchdowns. Jones also needs to cut his turnovers down, while significantly improving in the win-loss department to have a shot. At this point, confidence is not high.
