Broncos worked out 8 players (including 7 from the CFL) last week

The Broncos worked out eight players last week, including seven from the CFL.

The Denver Broncos worked out eight players last Friday, including seven players from the Canadian Football League.

The Broncos worked out cornerback Anthony Brown, wide receivers Samuel Emilus and Kian Schaffer-Baker, defensive back Evan Holm, defensive lineman Mustafa Johnson and linebackers Jonathan Jones, Darius Williams and Josh Woods.

Brown (30) has spent time with four NFL teams, most recently on the New York Jets’ practice squad this season.

Emilus (26) has played for the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders since 2022, totaling 1,097 receiving yards last season.

Schaffer-Baker (25) has played for the Roughriders since 2021, hauling in 98 receptions for 960 yards and five touchdowns in 2023.

Holm (25) has played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers since 2022, recording 64 tackles, two interceptions and two sacks last season.

Johnson (24) has played for the Montreal Alouettes since 2022. He won the Grey Cup (Canada’s Super Bowl) and earned CFL East All-Star recognition in 2023.

Jones (26) has played for the Toronto Argonauts since 2022, winning the Grey Cup in his first season with the team.

Williams (25) has spent time with three CFL teams, most recently with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2022.

Woods (25) has played for the BC Lions since 2021, totaling 45 tackles and two interceptions last season.

These players are likely candidates to sign reserve/future contracts with the Broncos after the 2023 season.

Mustafa Johnson receives training camp invite from the Atlanta Falcons

Another Buff will get a chance with the Atlanta Falcons

As announced by the Musgrove Agency, Mustafa Johnson has accepted a training camp invite from the Atlanta Falcons. Though he has not signed a contract with the team, he can play his way into a spot on the 90-man roster.

The 6-foot-2, 290-pound defensive lineman is known for his pass-rushing skills and could help solidify an Atlanta team that ranked in the middle of the NFL in sacks last season. Johnson burst onto the scene his first year with the Buffaloes in 2018 when he led the team with 8.5 sacks and received an All-Pac-12 first-team nod by the AP.  He finished his college career with 17 sacks, 122 tackles and 31 tackles for a loss.

Johnson will join Nate Landman in trying to secure a spot on the Falcons roster. The first time we will hopefully see both on an NFL field will be at Atlanta’s Rookie Minicamp, which will take place from May 14-16.

Good Luck Mustafa!

How to watch the Colorado Buffaloes host USC

How to watch Colorado take on Southern California.

The Colorado Buffaloes return home this weekend to open the month of October against USC. A Buffs win would break an 0-14 all-time record against their Pac-12 South rivals. However, it has been a rough season for not only the 1-3 Buffs but also the 2-2 Trojans, who recently fired Clay Helton. The return of DE Mustafa Johnson and USC wide receiver K.D. Nixon to Folsom headline this Week 5 showdown.

Mustafa Johnson’s return a big boost for Colorado

Anyone else excited for Mustafa Johnson’s return on Saturday?

On Saturday, we will finally see the return of big #34, Mustafa Johnson. The two-time All-Pac-12 defensive end was given an NCAA waiver to resume his collegiate career. Johnson took his chances at the NFL in the spring but went undrafted and didn’t sign with the New York Jets despite a workout invitation.

Over his previous three years at Colorado, Johnson recorded 107 tackles and 13 sacks in 21 starts.

“He gives us a veteran presence in the defensive front,” Karl Dorrell said. “He’s excited to play and obviously he feels it was a blessing to get another opportunity to play.”

Johnson will join a Colorado defense that has played significantly better than its offensive counterpart. As the Buffs sit at 1-3, Johnson’s debut against a beatable USC team should provide a much-needed uplift.

“I hope I can be a morale booster in any facet of the game, whether it’s on the field or off the field,” Johnson said. “When I practice and when I play, I come with this intensity that I always play with… I hope I will be able to affect the team in whatever way it needs.”

The Buffaloes’ D-line was shaken up even more this week with DT Lloyd Murray and DE Blayne Toll entering the transfer portal.

WATCH: Mustafa Johnson talks his return to Colorado

Although Colorado fans were sad to see Mustafa Johnson’s NFL dreams fall short this time around, they were more than thrilled when the All-Pac-12 defensive lineman announced his return to Boulder. With the help of the NCAA’s extra year of eligibility given to college athletes last year, Johnson was given a waiver to return to the CU despite already declaring for the NFL draft in the spring. Johnson went undrafted but received an offer to work out with the New York Jets. He was not signed, however. After being a defensive force for the Buffaloes from 2018-2020, Johnson will make his much-anticipated return on Saturday against USC.

He spoke to the media about his attempt at the NFL and his journey back to CU.

Cowboys draft help for Hill, Gallimore could come in any of the 7 rounds

Tim Lettiero reviews seven 3-tech defensive tackles who can rush the passer in each round in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft.

The Dallas Cowboys interior defensive line play has been an issue for a while now. In an even front, which it looks like Dan Quinn will implement, the 3-technique defensive tackle is known to be the lineman who possesses pass rush prowess. These guys are expected to get pressure on the quarterback and rush them into poor decisions or flush them outside of the pocket to the edge defenders.

Currently on roster are second-year player, Neville Gallimore, and third-year  Trysten Hill. Gallimore impressed with the snaps he got as the season aged, while the latter looked much better compared to his freshman campaign but struggled to cement his name as a starter. An ACL injury cut his season short. Although both are young and athletic pass rushers, neither currently possess the elite traits to make the organization feel secure moving forward. Here are some guys known for their ability to create pressure and likely to be available when the Dallas Cowboys are on the clock.

2021 NFL draft: 4 under-the-radar interior defensive linemen Chargers could target

The Los Angeles Chargers will be looking to add more pieces up front on the defensive side of the ball.

On paper, the Chargers possess a good-looking interior in head coach Brandon Staley’s 3-4 defense, with the starters being Linval Joseph, Justin Jones and Jerry Tillery.

However, the team lacks depth up front.

With that being said, here’s a look at four interior defenders that have gone under the radar that might interest Los Angeles when the draft comes around in a few weeks.

Jonathan Marshall, Arkansas

Only a one-year starter, Marshall put himself on the map after a strong senior season in which he amassed 35 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and nine quarterback hits en route to earning second-team All-SEC recognition.

Standing at a 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds, Marshall is a freak of an athlete, having posted a 40 yard dash of 4.9, vertical jump of 32 inches, broad jump of 114 inches, and a bench press of 225 pounds 36 times.

His athleticism shines on the field, as he is quick off the ball and is agile to slip through blockers. Combine that with disruptive hands and he is a nuisance to offensive linemen he faces.

Marshall does lack overall play strength and length, which shows up against the run. But he’s a guy that’s going to disrupt the passer on a consistent basis, which the Chargers need.

Ta’Quon Graham, Texas

A consistent contributor for the Longhorns in all four seasons, Graham amassed 70 total tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, 46 quarterback pressures, seven quarterbacks hits, 41 runs stops and only eight missed tackles.

Capable of playing all along the defensive front, Graham is a lengthy interior defender with first-step quickness, leverage and high effort, making him extremely difficult to handle one-on-one, both in the run game and as a pass rusher.

Mustafa Johnson, Colorado

Johnson put himself on the map with a strong sophomore season that saw him amass 7.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss. Viewed as a potential first rounder, injuries derailed him the following year. He performed well in his senior campaign, but not enough to warrant Round 1 status again.

At 6-foot and 280 pounds, Johnson is undersized but he is disruptive. He is a strong, squatty defensive lineman who wins with a quick first step off the line of scrimmage, power and hand strength on initial moves. His strong lower body allows him to anchor and play two-gap assignments.

Johnson would be an ideal two-gapping five-technique for the Bolts.

Isaiahh Loudermilk, Wisconsin

Loudermilk played in 40 games with 26 starts. He posted 63 career tackles, 11.5 for loss, 7.5 sacks, nine pass breakups, and two forced fumbles. A three-year starter, Loudermilk was third-team All-Big Ten selection in 2020.

Loudermilk is going to be a guy who stands out in a crowd, as he possesses boasts immense length. He uses that to his advantage when pushing back blockers to shed at the point of attack. He also moves very well for his size, displaying great lateral movement.

Loudermilk is still raw, having only played eight-man football before joining the Badgers. However with his enticing athletic traits and polarizing frame, his best football could still be ahead of him. With a defensive-minded coach like Brandon Staley, he could unlock his full potential.

Jags Wire 2021 NFL mock draft: Post-Super Bowl LV edition

With Super Bowl LV over, the Jags are now on the clock and Trevon Moehrig is an option they should consider after the No. 1 overall pick.

The 2020 NFL season is officially over as the Tampa Bay Bucs became Super Bowl champions this past Sunday. That means the Jacksonville Jaguars are officially on the clock with the No. 1 overall pick.

After going 1-15, there clearly will need to be a significant addition of talent to the roster if new coach Urban Meyer wants to put together respectable results out of the gate. Of course, they will be able to add several veterans in March through free agency, but long-term answers could come from April’s draft.

With draft season officially starting late Sunday night, now is as good a time as any for our first 2021 NFL mock draft for the Jags. With the help of Pro Football Network’s mock draft simulator, here’s a look at a full seven-round mock we completed for the Jags:
