Michigan State football is reportedly expressing interest in a high-level FCS defensive back transfer from Michigan.

Montana transfer safety Ronald Jackson has reportedly received interest from Michigan State since entering the portal, according to Allen Trieu of 247Sports. He also has heard from Iowa, James Madison, UConn and Old Dominion.

Jackson is originally from Belleville, Mich. and first played for Akron before transferring to Montana.

Jackson has one year of eligibility left. In his career, he has recorded 102 tackles, one interception, three passes defended and one forced fumble.

Former Michigan State football DT declares for NFL draft

After six total seasons spent with Michigan State football, defensive tackle Maverick Hansen will try his hand with the NFL draft process. Hansen announced that he is officially declaring for the NFL draft on his social media on Wednesday evening.

In his six years with the Spartans, the Farmington Hills product totaled 104 total tackles and 5.5 sacks across the span of his career.

Michigan State football got some positive news on Wednesday in regards to an offensive lineman returning for another season.

Kristian Phillips took to social media platform X to confirm he’ll “run it back” for another season at Michigan State. There wasn’t any known indication that Phillips would be leaving Michigan State but in today’s world of college football, any and all players could take off via the transfer portal.

Phillips was expected to start for the Spartans this season at right guard but a season-ending injury early in the year limited him to only one game this past season. He will enter next year as a likely starter again.

Phillips will be a redshirt junior next year, but could apply for a medical redshirt and still have three years of eligibility should he choose to do so. Regardless, this is a positive to have Phillips coming back for Michigan State heading into 2025.

Michigan State football is working to bring in a transfer running back from one of its conference peers.

Justin Thind and Corey Robinson of 247Sports are reporting that Michigan State will host UCLA transfer running back TJ Harden this weekend. He is expected to begin his visit on Friday.

Harden is considered the No. 6 running back in the portal at this time. He recorded 873 all-purpose yards and 4.2 yards per carry on 124 carries this past season. He also had 40 catches proving to be a dynamic player for the Bruins.

Michigan State football is looking to snag a high-flying scoring machine wide receiver out of the portal.

North Texas transfer wide receiver DT Sheffield announced on Tuesday that he’s received a scholarship offer from the Spartans. Sheffield made the notable announcement via social media platform X.

Sheffield led the Mean Green in receiving this past season with 66 receptions for 822 yards and 11 touchdowns. He originally started his career at Washington State in 2023 before transferring to North Texas and playing one season with the Mean Green.

Michigan State is actively pursuing a number of transfer wide receivers, with Sheffield joining the fold as one of the top targets. According to his X account, he also has received notable offers from UCLA, Utah, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Cal, Oklahoma State, Virginia, UCF and Pitt.

Michigan State football wide receiver transfer Aziah Johnson has reportedly locked in a pair of visits to Big 12 schools this week.

Matt Zenitz of 247Sports is reporting that Johnson will visit Kansas and Kansas State this upcoming week. Johnson’s agency confirmed the report with Zenitz.

Johnson was one of the surprise entries into the transfer portal for the Spartans. He recorded 16 catches for 276 yards this past season and appeared destined for an enhanced role on next year’s squad.

Michigan State football is reportedly one of a few schools to be heavily pursuing LSU transfer safety Jordan Allen.

Tom Loy of 247Sports reported on Tuesday that Michigan State is one of the schools that Allen has “heard from” since entering the portal. Other schools noted by Loy’s report were Missouri, Houston, Washington and Oregon.

Allen spent the last three years with the Tigers. He recorded a total of 20 tackles and one pass defended in his limited role with LSU.

As a prospect, Allen was a three-star recruit in the 2022 class. He ranked as the No. 38 safety in the country that year.

Michigan State will reportedly host a highly-touted Alabama transfer cornerback this week.

Numerous outlets are reporting that Jahlil Hurley will take a visit to Michigan State and Missouri this week. According to Justin Thind of 247Sports, Hurley will visit Michigan State on Friday.

Hurley was a top-10 cornerback prospect in the 2023 class, and high-four star recruit. He appeared in nine games this past season, where he recorded one tackle.

Michigan State is in the market to improve its secondary through the transfer portal. This is even more the case for the Spartans after standout cornerback Charles Brantley entered the portal on Tuesday morning.

Another high-volume group of five transfer wide receiver will reportedly visit Michigan State.

Middle Tennessee State transfer wide receiver Omari Kelly will reportedly visit Michigan State, according to Adam Gorney of Rivals.

Kelly recorded 53 receptions for 869 yards and four touchdowns this past season for the Blue Raiders. He is a junior but this was his first big production year with Middle Tennessee State.

Michigan State has been active in the transfer portal, especially at the wide receiver position. The Spartans have lost four wide receivers to the portal, and are looking to rebuild that position group through new additions in the portal.

Michigan State football will reportedly host a highly-touted offensive lineman transfer on Tuesday.

Stanford offensive lineman transfer Luke Baklenko will reportedly visit Michigan State on Tuesday. Justin Thind of 247Sports’ reported the news late on Monday evening.

Baklenko is also reportedly set to visit Auburn and Oklahoma.

Baklenko started nearly 20 games for the Cardinal over the past two seasons and has two years of eligibility left. He will surely be someone many programs will be after due to the lack of top tier offensive lineman transfers.
