Michigan State has extended an offer to a 3-star weakside defensive end out of Westfield, Indiana.

[jwplayer PH0GG6LS]

With the absence of a fall college football season, there is plenty of time for coaches to get ahead on their recruiting, and you can count on a program whose motto is ‘Relentless’ to take advantage of this extra time, and that’s exactly what the Michigan State Football team is doing. On Thursday night, 2022 3-star weakside defensive Popeye Williams announced that he has received an offer from the Spartans.

Williams is a 6’3, 225 lbs lineman from Westfield, Indiana, and is currently ranked as the No. 5 best recruiting prospect in the state of Indiana and the No. 14 ranked weakside defensive end in the 2022 class according to 247Sports.

The Spartans will have some tough competition for Popeye Williams’ recruitment as Alabama, Penn State and Wisconsin have all already offered Williams as well.

Michigan State recruiting commit Jake Renda has flipped his commitment to Pittsburgh.

[jwplayer hzByg0t2]

Anyone who is in need of some good news about Michigan State Football, avert your eyes now. On Monday night, the Spartans suffered another setback on the recruiting trail when 2021 commit Jake Renda flipped his commitment from Michigan State to Pitt.

Renda, a 3-star tight end, will join former Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi in Pittsburgh.

This is the second player in Michigan State’s 2021 recruiting class to de-commit from the program. The first was Gabe “Spida” Nealy out of Florida, who would go on to join South Florida.

Renda didn’t give much context around his decision, but thanked Michigan State’s coaching staff (specifically Mel Tucker and tight ends coach Ted Gilmore) and then quoted Andrew Carnegie. You can read his announcement below:

Michigan State Football makes top-6 for 2021 4-star RB Audric Estime

The Spartans made the top-6 for the 4-star running back out of Montvale, New Jersey.

[jwplayer FN7IWpf5]

It has been a bumpy ride on the recruiting trail for new Michigan State Football head coach Mel Tucker in his first offseason. The Spartans have lost a few high profile targets to conference rivals during this recruiting period, and the team could use a big win. Well, that win could be within reach for MSU, as 2021 4-star running back Audric Estime put Michigan State in his top-6 for his recruitment.

Estime is the No. 18 ranked running back in the 2021 recruiting class according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Michigan State currently has an 80% chance of landing Estime according to the 247Sports projections.

Estime also included Nebraska, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, and Rutgers in his top-6, which you can see below:

4-star Oak Park OT Rayshaun Benny puts Michigan State Football in top-8

MSU Football offers 4-star CB Philip Riley, currently committed to Notre Dame

Michigan State has extended an offer to Philip Riley Jr., a 4-star CB currently committed to Notre Dame.

[jwplayer 7HOYimhW]

Mel Tucker has no fear on the recruiting trail. The Michigan State Football head coach is already going after two players (Steffan Johnson, Albert Reese) who had previously committed to Rutgers, and it looks like he is now also targeting one of the top recruits in Notre Dame’s 2021 recruiting class in 4-star CB Philip Riley Jr.

Riley is the No. 13 ranked cornerback in the country by the 247Sports rankings and the No. 28 ranked player in Florida. He’s had offers from some huge players including Clemson, Texas, Iowa, Penn State, Oregon, Mississippi State and more, so it would be pretty surprising if Tucker can pull him away from Notre Dame amidst all of the other interested parties, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to throw your hat in the ring for a game-changing player.

MSU Football offers 6’7″ OT Albert Reese who is currently committed to Rutgers

Michigan State Football has extended an offer to 3-star, 6’7″ OT Albert Reese who is currently committed to Rutgers.

[jwplayer 7HOYimhW]

Well, well, well, it looks like we might have a mini Big Ten recruiting rivalry in the works. On the same weekend where we saw one Michigan State Football recruiting target in Steffan Johnson de-commit from Rutgers, seemingly to join up with his old teammate Charles Brantley on the Spartans, another Rutgers commit announced that he has received an offer from MSU as Albert Reese IV revealed his offer late Friday evening.

Reese fits Mel Tucker’s ideal recruit profile as he stands tall at 6’7″ and weighs just under 295 lbs. Reese is a 3-star offensive tackle and the No. 94 ranked offensive tackle by the 247Sports composite rankings. If Tucker can pull two prospects away from Rutgers, we might have a fun little inter-conference rivalry on our hands.
