New CBS mock draft has highest projection for Jayden Daniels so far

As Jayden Daniels has become the clear Heisman favorite, his draft stock is also soaring.

Despite pacing the nation in quarterback statistics for most of the 2023 season, [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag]’ draft stock seemed almost non-existent as recently as a month ago.

The LSU quarterback was not being discussed among the top group of passers, which includes players like Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, nor did he appear on most first-round mock drafts.

After an unreal final stretch of the season that will almost certainly earn him the Heisman Trophy, that has changed. And in the latest 2024 NFL mock draft from CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso, he saw his highest projection yet.

While Trapasso has Maye going first overall to the Chicago Bears, Daniels is right behind him, going to the New England Patriots with the second overall pick, ahead of Williams.

Surprise! The Patriots go with Daniels over Caleb Williams as the second quarterback off the board. Daniels is an athletic marvel with two years of high-caliber passing productivity in the SEC.

While Daniels is the first Tiger off the board in the top 10, he’s not the only one. He’s joined by wideout [autotag]Malik Nabers[/autotag] at No. 7 to the Giants, which would make him the second receiver off the board behind Marvin Harrison Jr. at No. 3.

While I’d be surprised if the Giants don’t go quarterback here, with three already off the board and Daniel Jones’ $35 million fully guaranteed 2024 salary on the books, they actually may go in a different direction inside the top 10.

The Tigers had one of the most prolific offenses in college football’s recent memory in 2023, and the key players behind that should hear their names called early on draft night.

Two LSU Tigers make Perfect Game’s 2024 MLB mock draft

Perfect Game has released its latest mock for the 2024 MLB draft and two LSU baseball players have made the list.

Perfect Game has released its latest mock for the 2024 MLB draft and two LSU baseball players have made the list.

[autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] and [autotag]Thatcher Hurd[/autotag] are both projected to get drafted near the end of the first round of the MLB draft. Tommy Tanks transferred to LSU last season after breaking the single-season home run record for NC State as a freshman. White had a phenomenal year in Baton Rouge as he finished with a .374 batting average with 24 doubles, 24 homers and 105 RBI.

Hurd emerged as a star pitcher for the Tigers midway through the season and he hurled a gem in the College World Series against Wake Forest and Florida. He had a 2-0 record with a 2.25 ERA in Omaha as he gave up three runs over 12 innings pitched and struck out 13 hitters and walked six.

Both of these guys will be big contributors for the Tigers this spring as they look to defend their national title.

PFF mock draft includes three Tigers

PFF has released its third iteration of a mock draft and this one includes three LSU players.

PFF has released its third iteration of a mock draft and this one includes three LSU players. Two of them are in the first round and the third one is taken with the first pick of the second round.

According to PFF, [autotag]Malik Nabers[/autotag] will be taken with the No. 6 pick in the draft by the New York Giants. The Giants are a team that could use some playmakers, but they also need some help up front to protect Daniel Jones.

According to PFF, Heisman Trophy favorite [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] will be staying in the boot and playing for the New Orleans Saints at pick No. 9. If you have watched any Saints games this year, you know that they need a quarterback in the worst way. Derek Carr and Jameis Winston will not get the job done. This would be a great pick for them.

According to PFF, [autotag]Brian Thomas Jr.[/autotag] will be taken with pick No. 33, the first pick of the second round, by the Carolina Panthers. With this pick, the Panthers would get a playmaker for Bryce Young to facilitate the ball too. Like the Giants, the Panthers could use some help up front as well.

Malik Nabers, Jayden Daniels are top 10 picks in latest NFL mock draft

It could be a busy draft night for former LSU players.

It could be a busy draft night for former LSU players in a few months, and in the latest mock draft from The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, three Tigers players are projected as first-round picks.

[autotag]Malik Nabers[/autotag], who may find himself as this year’s Biletnikoff Winner, has been the most productive receiver in college football this season. He’s projected to go sixth overall to the New York Giants.

Meanwhile, [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] — who hasn’t seen a lot of draft hype but has had his stock rise in recent weeks — jumps into the top 10, going to the Buccaneers one pick later.

[autotag]Brian Thomas Jr.[/autotag], who is having a prolific season in his own right despite splitting targets with Nabers and others, is also projected to go at the end of the round to the Steelers with the 23rd pick.

Were this prediction to come to pass, it would be the most players LSU has seen drafted in the first round since 2020 when five players were selected on the first night, headlined by [autotag]Joe Burrow[/autotag] with the top pick.

Malik Nabers a top-10 pick in latest CBS Sports mock draft

Malik Nabers entered his junior season with massive expectations, and if anything, he’s exceeded them through eight games of the season.

[autotag]Malik Nabers[/autotag] entered his junior season with massive expectations, and if anything, he’s exceeded them through eight games of the season.

He leads the nation in receiving yards with 981, and he ranks third in touchdowns with nine (fellow LSU receiver Brian Thomas Jr. leads the nation in that category with 11). He could be on his way to a Biletnikoff Award, and in the latest 2024 NFL mock draft from CBS Sports, he’s a projected top-10 pick.

CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso has Nabers joining a Tennessee Titans team that could definitely use some help at receiver. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill has struggled this season, but the team has two young passers on the roster that it drafted in Malik Willis and Will Levis.

Perhaps Nabers’ addition would be the boost one of those players needs to take another step. Here’s what Trapasso said.

Regardless of who’s at quarterback for the Titans next season, he will need more dynamic receiving talent to throw the ball to.

That is certainly true, and whoever eventually lands Nabers will have a very dynamic playmaker in the passing game.

ESPN has one LSU player going in the first round in 2024 NFL mock draft

ESPN has released its latest mock for the 2024 NFL Draft, and one LSU Tiger made the cut.

ESPN has released its latest mock for the 2024 NFL Draft, and one LSU Tiger made the cut. ESPN has an interesting landing spot for LSU’s best wide receiver.

ESPN has [autotag]Malik Nabers[/autotag] staying in the boot and being drafted by the New Orleans Saints with the 15th pick of the first round. Nabers leads the NCAA in yards with 981 yards and nine touchdowns on 56 receptions entering Week 8.

According to the ESPN mock draft, Nabers would be the fourth wideout taken in the draft. Marvin Harrison Jr. from Ohio State is listed as the No. 2 pick to the Cardinals, Keon Coleman from Florida State is listed as the No. 11 pick for the Indianapolis Colts and Rome Odunze is listed as the No. 13 pick to the Cincinnati Bengals.

The surprising thing about this list for me is that there is no mention of [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag]. Daniels is putting up numbers that are reminiscent of what [autotag]Joe Burrow[/autotag] did in 2019, yet he continues to get no first-round love.

CBS Sports has Malik Nabers going top 10 in latest NFL mock draft

Malik Nabers currently ranks second in the FBS with 771 receiving yards through six games.

There have been some disappointments for LSU this season so far, but the play of receiver [autotag]Malik Nabers[/autotag] has not been among them.

After a breakout 2022 campaign, Nabers is off to an even hotter start in 2023. Through six games, he ranks second in the nation with 771 receiving yards, and he also has six touchdowns on the year.

That’s particularly impressive when you consider he’s splitting targets with [autotag]Brian Thomas Jr.[/autotag], who also ranks in the top 10 with 603 yards and leads the FBS with nine touchdowns.

With Nabers potentially in for a huge season, CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso projected him as a top-10 selection, joining the Arizona Cardinals with pick No. 10.

Nabers looks like a first-round wideout, and the Cardinals need to start building the core of pass-catching weapons.

Adding a player like Nabers would certainly aid in the development of Kyler Murray, who is still yet to play this season after tearing his ACL last year.

Latest CBS mock draft has Malik Nabers joining Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase in Cincinnati with top 10 pick

We may have to rename the team the LSU Bengals if this comes to pass.

[autotag]Malik Nabers[/autotag] is quickly asserting himself as one of the top receivers in college football this season.

The LSU star entered the year with high expectations, and he’s lived up to them. Through five games, he has 625 yards and five touchdowns on 40 catches, and he could find himself as one of the first receivers off the board in next spring’s 2024 NFL draft.

In the latest mock draft from CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso, Nabers is a projected top 10 pick as the second receiver taken behind Marvin Harrison Jr., and he joins a familiar crowd on a Cincinnati Bengals team that also includes former LSU stars [autotag]Joe Burrow[/autotag] and [autotag]Ja’Marr Chase[/autotag].

I doubt the Bengals ultimately pick this high. If they do, they could be in the market for another wideout to complement Ja’Marr Chase with Tee Higgins bound for free agency.

Nabers led the SEC in receptions last season, and he’s on pace for another statistically phenomenal season despite splitting targets with [autotag]Brian Thomas Jr.[/autotag], who is having a breakout campaign of his own.

Breaking down Packers’ All-Michigan haul from Draft Wire’s two-round mock draft

It’s Packers-Lions week…and Draft Wire’s latest 2024 mock draft sent three Michigan Wolverines to Green Bay.

The date is April 26, 2024. Brian Gutekunst steps to the podium to recap the first two days of the 2024 NFL draft.

“Obviously really excited to add three players from such a well-coached program. They do things right over at Ann Arbor. They do a great job of getting them ready for the next level.”

That would be the monologue from Green Bay’s general manager if the opening two rounds went anything like the two-round mock draft that Curt Popejoy put together recently over at Draft Wire.

In his latest two-round mock draft, Popejoy has the Packers selecting three Michigan Wolverines. Popejoy has the Packers selecting defensive lineman Kris Jenkins in the first round (No. 19) and following that up with running back Blake Corum (No. 43) and safety Rod Moore (No. 51) in the second round.

Jenkins, the nephew of Cullen Jenkins, is a powerful defensive lineman that would pair nicely with Kenny Clark and the athletic duo of Devonte Wyatt and Colby Wooden. To go along with all that raw power, Jenkins is quick out of his stance, showcasing explosive movements to get upfield quickly. Even with Wyatt on the books and Wooden and Karl Brooks showcasing promise, the Packers need to continue to beef up the front seven. With his athletic skill set, Jenkins could develop into a difference-maker up front in Green Bay, just like his uncle.

Corum has outstanding vision. While he may not possess track-like speed, he’s sudden, sharp cuts, with live feet. In four games this season, Corum has forced eight missed tackles and racked up 168 yards after contact, showcasing his contact balance and elusiveness when he gets out in space.

Moore, a former track athlete, has the quickness to cover a lot of ground. He has disciplined eyes and shows good route anticipation. Moore made his season debut this past Saturday against Rutgers after an injury forced him to miss the first three games of the season.

It’s never a bad thing to invest in the defensive line, just ask the Philadelphia Eagles. If Wooden and Brooks continue to develop, along with Wyatt, the defensive line at 1265 Lombardi Avenue would be in good shape. Adding a player like Jenkins and his skillset would help take that group to the next level.

AJ Dillon is off to a rocky start and is in the final year of his rookie deal. On top of that Aaron Jones is pushing 30. Corum is a slam-dunk pick in the second round.

The Moore selection would address arguably the weakest position on Green Bay’s roster right now.

It would have been nice to see the Packers address offensive tackle in the first two rounds. Having said that, Green Bay has a rich history of selecting offensive linemen on day three and turning them into quality starters. David Bakhtiari, Josh Sitton, TJ Lang, Corey Linsley, JC Tretter and Tom. You get the point.

The Packers also haven’t selected an offensive lineman in the first round since 2011. On top of that, Rasheed Walker has more than held his own during his first two career starts at left tackle. While Tom has proven to be a solid right tackle. It’s very plausible that Green Bay is set at the tackle position, both in the short and the long term.

Jaguars projected to target CBs in way-too-early 2024 mock drafts

The Jaguars didn’t take a cornerback early in the 2023 NFL draft. So how about next year?

Most expected cornerback to be a top priority for the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2023 NFL draft. Not only did the Jaguars not address the position in the first round, they didn’t pick a cornerback until taking Christian Braswell at No. 202 overall.

So it’s not surprising that experts think that need will still be a pressing one in 2024.

For now, the Jaguars have Tyson Campbell and Darious Williams both under contract until the 2025 offseason. But the depth behind that duo is just a few underwhelming veterans with some late-round picks from the 2022 and 2023 drafts.

Even with a free agent acquisition or a breakout year from a young player already on the roster, cornerback stands to be a big need again next year.

In way-too-early 2024 mock drafts published this weekend, many experts think that’ll be the position the Jaguars target when they’re on the clock in the first round next year:
