[autotag]Carter Young[/autotag] has pulled an Uno reverse card on the good folks of Baton Rouge as he signed with the Baltimore Orioles with only a few hours left for major league teams to sign their draft picks.
Young, a 17th-round pick in the 2022 MLB draft, signed for $1.325 million.
He transferred to LSU from Vanderbilt, where he starred as a freshman and had a batting average of .328 with three doubles and 12 RBI. After that, Young got into a slump at the plate as he had an average of .252 his sophomore year and only a .207 batting average during his junior season.
He has an immense amount of talent but ran into a prolonged rough stretch, which is common for baseball players. Many believed he would stick with LSU for a new start and to rebuild his draft stock into being picked within the first two days of the draft.

Baltimore had other plans.
The Orioles saved money on a few of their signings by giving them less money than their slot value was worth. They then used that cash to overpay for Young in the 17th round. Young, meanwhile, will hope to get out of his slump and eventually take the field at Camden Yards.
