Coach K in attendance for the Duke basketball game against No. 1 Kansas

Duke will face No. 1 Kansas in Las Vegas on Tuesday night, and the most legendary figure in program history showed p to watch.

The Duke Blue Devils remained on the West Coast for a few extra days this week ahead of a Tuesday night game against No. 1 Kansas in Las Vegas, and a certain five-time national champion will try to watch his former pupil claim a signature win.

[autotag]Mike Krzyzewski[/autotag], who retired in 2022 after more than 40 years as the Duke men’s basketball coach, was spotted in the audience at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday by NBA draft analyst Krysten Peek, who shared a video of him on social media.

Krzyzewski cut down the nets in 1991, 1992, 2001, 2010, and 2015 as the Blue Devils’ head coach. He finished his lengthy career with 1,202 total victories, 1,129 of those coming with Duke, and he reached the Final Four 13 times.

[autotag]Jon Scheyer[/autotag], the current men’s basketball coach, helped Coach K win the fourth of those national titles as a starting guard. He joined the Duke staff in 2014 as an assistant coach, was promoted to associate head coach in 2018, and took over for Krzyzewski following the 2021-22 season.

Duke’s game against the Jayhawks tips off at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time on ESPN.

Listen to thrilling North Carolina radio call of Caleb Love’s clutch 3 that eventually took down Duke

The hometown calls captured Love’s moment perfectly.

Whoa. What just happened? Have I been holding my breath for the last hour?

(Exhales)

On Saturday night, Duke (four and a half-point favorites at tip-off) and Carolina met in the Men’s NCAA tournament for the first time. During the Final Four. So, naturally, everyone complained about how boring it was that two very successful rivalry programs were playing in a massive game while wanting to see Mike Krzyzewski finally go down.

And you know what? The Game (can we call it that yet?), yes, The Game, the Tarheels and Blue Devils just played was an all-timer; easily one of the great games in men’s college basketball history. (Yes, it is.)

In a matchup that featured 18 (!) lead changes, it was one of the final plays by Caleb Love that will forever be remembered by “Tobacco Road.”

I’ll be quiet for now and let Jones Angell, North Carolina’s official play-by-play announcer, tell the story over the radio.

Ah, that’s so soothing. A straight call of the play while letting the crowd’s roar tell the story. Perfection. I’m getting goosebumps.

David Shumate, Duke radio play-by-play announcer, what say you, sir?

Indeed. A dagger. Right through Duke’s heart. Right through the last instance that we’ll ever see Krzyzewski coach a Division I college basketball game. Again, goosebumps.

What a game and what a night.

Brooks Koepka celebrates The Match win with Floyd Mayweather Jr., meets Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski

Coach K to Brooks: “You don’t know, but I love you.”

Brooks Koepka had quite the night after dominating Bryson DeChambeau in The Match.

Most of his Friday night will most likely remain silent under the guise of, “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” but fans did see Koepka sitting courtside along with boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. at T-Mobile Arena to watch No. 1 Gonzaga vs. No. 5 Duke.

After the Blue Devils took down the zags, 84-81, retiring head coach Mike Krzyzewski said the following to Koepka: “You don’t know, but I love you. No, I do, and I was cheering for you, and I thought you handled yourself well.”

Talk about high praise.

College Basketball: The 10 all-time most annoying Dukies

Who belongs at the top of this list and why?

College basketball officially starts nationwide tonight which means it’s a chance for all of us in this divided nation and world come together in one cause:

Hating Duke basketball.

As a kid I ate it all up.  Mike Krzyzewski was a hero in my 15-year old eyes when Duke won it all in the spring of 2001, but 20 years later I’m grateful to have seen the light since and realized just how insufferable that entire program is.  How Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey developed into such a likable figure after spending eight years on Krzyzewski’s bench is beyond me, but I digress.

With Krzyzewski starting his final season as Duke’s head coach this year let’s honor him by naming the 10 Most Annoying Dukies of All-Time:
