Warriors fans don’t need to care what Mike James says about Steph Curry, even if it’s completely wrong and silly

You know it’s the offseason if we’re talking about Mike James hating on Steph Curry

After the Warriors won their 4th championship in 8 seasons and Steph Curry finally snagged that elusive Finals MVP trophy, he asked one question. It was “What are they going to say now?”

Curry had done everything folks said he couldn’t. He destroyed the best defense in the world with the Defensive Player of the Year on the roster. He got the Finals MVP. No Kevin Durant. No stacked roster. It was Steph Curry, just doing what he does best. Cooking.

All the slights he had against him seemed to have gone to the wayside. He can’t do it on his own. He’s just a system player. He doesn’t do this. He doesn’t do that. That was all out the window.

Which is exactly why Curry asked the question he asked after they won. It didn’t feel like anyone had anything left to say.

But don’t worry, y’all. Mike James found something.

That’s right. Mike James. The NBA journeyman turned Euroleague star Mike James. He thinks Curry is a bit too “one-dimensional” to be a top 5 player in today’s NBA.

James named his top-5 players in the league and it included Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid and Luka Doncic. But no Steph Curry. Why? He explained:

“Steph, how he plays and how he gets stuff off, it’s just kinda one-dimensional at times. He’s not the primary ball-handler a lot, and for a point guard that kinda bothers me.”

I can’t speak for James here, obviously. But it seems like Curry is getting dinged for not simply fitting into the mold of a traditional point guard.

Warriors fans were livid.

Did Kevin Durant really believe the Nets would not beat the Boston Celtics in the 2022 playoffs?

Former Net and friend of KD Mike James heard from Durant himself that he did not expect to beat Boston.

In an odd twist, the Brooklyn Nets losing to the Boston Celtics may not have been as much a surprise to some as one might think. At the start of the 2021-22 NBA season, the Nets were presumptive favorites to win the title behind Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden.

While the Harden experiment did not go well and the vaccination status of Kyrie Irving compounded by injury to Kevin Durant threw a wrench in the Nets’ regular-season expectations, there was still optimism ahead of the 2022 NBA playoffs. Then, the Nets collided with a white-hot Celtics squad that had unexpectedly morphed into the most dangerous team in the league midway through the season.

In a recent interview discussed on the Fox show “Undisputed,” it seems Mike James, a former Net and friend of KD, heard from Durant himself that he did not expect to beat Boston.

Mike James: Kevin Durant knew Nets would lose before the playoffs

Mike James dropped major news earlier this week, that Kevin Durant called him and knew the Brooklyn Nets weren’t making a deep playoff push.

While star player Kevin Durant only requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets at the beginning of the offseason, it seems as if his confidence in the team diluted before the playoffs even started.

Former teammate Mike James went on the Players Choice podcast to discuss his relationship with Durant. The former MVP and James grew to become very good friends, where Durant actually visited him in Greece and Monaco during his EuroLeague postseason.

James talked about their conversations leading up to Durant showing up to support him. James and Durant agreed that whoever’s season ended the first, the other would come to watch them in the postseason, he confirmed.

In the Tik Tok video, James said:

So when they[the Nets] was trash and they was losing, I called him one day, I was like ‘You know what this means right? You going to come to my playoff game'”, said James. “He was like ‘No way I’m coming to your playoff game and then like a week later, he[Durant] called me before the playoffs started, he’s like ‘Yeah I’m going to be there.’

Report: Mike James interested in return to Brooklyn Nets

Former Brooklyn Net Mike James is reportedly interested in reuniting with Kevin Durant and the Nets.

According to NetsDaily, a NBA correspondent has reported that Mike James, who had a brief stint with the Brooklyn Nets, is interested in reuniting with Kevin Durant.

Reportedly superstar Durant went to Greece and Monaco to watch James compete in the EuroLeague.

James made an impact for the Nets during the 2020-21 campaign, where he averaged seven points and four assists per game.

Currently James plays for French basketball team Monaco Basket, racking up 16 points and a handful of dimes.

Durant praised him as a playmaker towards the end of his Nets tenure. “He knows who he is as a player,” Durant said.

Who are the best overseas players the Boston Celtics could sign to their roster?

These are some of the better overseas options the Celtics could consider.

The Boston Celtics have signed two players to get their roster to the league-required 14-man minimum, but both are on 10-day contracts and may not stick. Add in that the Celtics have an additional regular and also a two way roster slot open, and it is quite likely Boston will be looking to add another player if not several.

There are plenty of potential targets for the Celtics to sign who still need to be bought out before the March 1 deadline, but if Boston isn’t up to wait that process out, they can look to domestically available players who aren’t on a contract, or snap up one of the better players overseas.

Overseas players may of course need to get permission (or be bought out) if under contract with their current club, but there are several the Celtics ought to be considering should they be able to find their way to the NBA — let’s take a look at seven such players.

On this day: Celtics trade for Isaiah Thomas; trade for Atkins, Hunter

On this day in Celtics history, the team dealt for IT, and nine years before that, for Chucky Atkins and Lindsey Hunter.

On this day in Boston Celtics history, the team traded forward Tayshaun Prince to the Detroit Pistons in 2015 in exchange for power forward Jonas Jerebko and small forward GiGi Datome that also saw the Celtics send guard Marcus Thornton to the Phoenix Suns. In turn, the Suns sent a young point guard fighting for playing time in their crowded backcourt rotation to the Celtics in exchange for Thornton’s services.

That floor general would of course be none other than the future King in the Fourth himself, Isaiah Thomas, who was unhappy about having to compete with fellow Phoenix guards Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe to get on the court with the Suns.

IT would carve out a starting role quickly with his new team, eventually becoming a part of Celtics lore himself with multiple deep playoff runs with the franchise.

Relive the Brooklyn Nets’ top 10 plays of the 2020-21 season

With a new campaign on the horizon, let’s look back at the Brooklyn Nets’ top 10 plays from last year.

Despite falling short of a championship last year, the Nets did not fall short in putting on a show in almost every game. With all the talent in Brooklyn last season, the team was bound to put together some spectacular highlights. From game winners, to ankle-breakers to posters that you can hang up on your wall, the Nets had it all.

Putting together the top 10 plays must have been a headache with everything that went down last year, but the NBA’s YouTube team pulled it off. Without further adieu, let us take a look at the top 10 plays from the Brooklyn Nets last season.

Former Nets guard Mike James signs with AS Monaco in France

Mike James returns to Europe, joins French powerhouse AS Monaco.

Following a dramatic departure from his old club in Russia, CSKA Moscow, Mike James will be signing with AS Monaco. His new club has gone toe to toe with the top teams in France and they are one of the latest teams to join the Euroleague.

Why is James not returning to his old club in Moscow? Well, there was constant controversy revolving around James’ decision to leave his former European club for the Nets, which traces back to April.

Prior to signing with Brooklyn, the 31-year-old was having all sorts of problems with head coach Dimitris Itoudis. James was suspended twice for altercations with Itoudis, but even so, this didn’t bother the former Nets guard’s play on the court. In two seasons with the club, he averaged 17.8 PPG to go with 5.1 APG.

Although James’ contract lasted until 2023, CSKA Moscow were still willing to part ways with the 31-year-old to allow him to sign with the Nets in April. With AS Monaco, the Portland native now has a brand new start in Europe as he looks to continue where he left off.

Report: Lakers prioritizing adding third point guard; one more wing could be signed

The Los Angeles Lakers want to add another point guard behind Russell Westbrook and Kendrick Nunn along with another wing.

Even though the 2021 free agency period has slowed with the big names off the board, the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t done.

The Lakers have only 12 roster spots filled. Mac McClung and Chaundee Brown are on better training camp deals; both are vying for roster spots, but the Lakers have also been working out veterans.

Recent reports indicated L.A. has worked out guards Isaiah Thomas, Darren Collison and Mike James. Any of the three would likely finalize the point guard position on the depth chart.

Los Angeles has Russell Westbrook and Kendrick Nunn at the point, but both are scoring guards while the three mentioned above are facilitators. Adding another player at the one, and perhaps another wing, is what the Lakers want to do, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports:

A third point guard is a priority, sources said, along with potentially adding another wing.

A wing name that hasn’t been signed is James Ennis, who played for the Orlando Magic last season. The Lakers reportedly have interest in the 31-year-old wing who shot 43.3% from deep on 2.5 attempts last season.

JaKarr Sampson and Tim Frazier both have popped up as possible candidates, but the former is more of a small-ball five while Frazier isn’t as adept as the other three guards above L.A. worked out.

Report: Lakers worked out former Nets guard Mike James

The Los Angeles Lakers brought in former Brooklyn Nets guard Mike James for a workout.

Even though the Los Angeles Lakers have had a busy offseason, the work is far from complete.

The Lakers need to finalize three more roster spots on the 15-man roster, and points guards are a must.

Los Angeles has only Russell Westbrook and Kendrick Nunn at point guard, so adding a third piece for depth is a plausible route.

The Lakers recently worked out Isaiah Thomas and Darren Collison, two point guards who haven’t played a full NBA season in a few years.

A name with more recent playing experience under his belt to monitor for L.A. is Mike James, who just finished the season with the Brooklyn Nets, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports:

“The Los Angeles Lakers are actively surveying the landscape to eventually fill out the roster with more depth, and have done so in recently working out Isaiah Thomas, Darren Collison and Mike James, league sources told Yahoo Sports.”

James, who just turned 31, initially played for the Nets on 10-day contracts before Brooklyn inked him to a deal for the remainder of the season. Before he came to Brooklyn, James played overseas in Russia.

In 13 regular-season games, James averaged 7.7 points, 4.2 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 18.2 minutes per game; he shot 37% overall on 7.1 attempts and 35.5% from deep on 2.4 attempts.
