Michigan State football hires Assistant Director of Player Personnel

MSU has hired a new member to the personnel department:

Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker made a major change to his support staff, hiring Mark Diethorn to replace Saeed Khalif, overseeing roster construction and recruiting. Now, Diethorn has hired his new right hand man, Lino Lupinetti to take over as Michigan State’s Assistant Director of Player Personnel.

Michigan State football tabs new Director of On-Campus Recruiting

MSU has hired a new member to the staff who is integral to the team’s recruiting success:

Michigan State has tabbed a new support staff member that is going to be integral in their recruiting efforts. Jenna Learn has been hired as the team’s new Director of On-Campus Recruiting. She spent the previous two years at the University of South Florida after graduating college, where she was a student recruiting assistant.

Learn will be tasked with providing an awesome visit experience to recruits who make their way on the Michigan State campus.

Michigan State football offers 2024 DL Tyler Simmons

A Florida defensive lineman has picked up an offer from Michigan State

Michigan State has expanded its defensive line board once again, this time offering Tyler Simmons. Simmons is a native of Windermere, Florida, attending Windermere Prep High School. He is a 3-star prospect according to 247Sports.

Simmons has received additional power five offers from Indiana, Kansas, Miami, NC State, South Carolina, Stanford, Virginia and Northwestern, whom he has already taken an official visit to.

Look for MSU to get Simmons on campus for a visit soon.

Reaction: 3 reasons Michigan State football will bounce back from Jamari Howard decommitment

While Jamari Howard’s decommitment was unfortunate, the Spartans are still in a good spot when it comes to DB recruiting in 2024:

Michigan State lost the commitment of Jamari Howard this past weekend. Howard had been committed to the Spartans since September, but has now backed off heading into the summer.

This decommitment comes as little surprise to the fans that heavily follow recruiting, and is something the Spartan coaching staff has expected to come.

Since the staff had a feeling, and saw the writing on the wall, they have prepared themselves for this to happen and thus, Spartan fans should not be concerned about what’s to come next.

4-star tight end names Michigan State football in top five

A 4-star tight end is very high on the Spartans

Michigan State is starting the build towards a strong June recruiting month and they got another big piece of news in that process. 4-star tight end Eric Karner has announced a top five and the Spartans were included.

The Spartans were featured in the top five alongside Alabama, Iowa, Florida and Texas A&M. Karner will be taking an official visit to East Lansing on the first weekend of June.

Karner is a native of Elmhurst, Illinois, and attends Immaculate Conception Catholic Prep.

Check out who will be officially visiting Michigan State:

The 2024 recruiting class will be a pivotal class in Mel Tucker’s continuing tenure at Michigan State. Securing a strong class to keep the positive momentum he has built will be of the upmost importance.

In order to put together a strong 2024 recruiting class, the Spartans will have to have a strong performance throughout their host of official visits.

With official visit season starting in June, fans are starting to gain clarity about who will be visiting East Lansing.

Florida 4-star DL Lawal McCray gets Michigan State football offer

MSU has offered a top 100 Florida 4-star

Michigan State has dipped into the Sunshine State to offer their latest defensive line target. Lawal ‘LJ’ McCray received an offer from the Spartans on Thursday morning.

McCray is a Daytona Beach native, attending Mainland High School. He is a 6-foot-6, 260 pound defensive lineman that ranks as the No. 90 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class according to 247Sports.

2024 Philly safety includes Michigan State football in top five

A 4-star safety has named a top five and Michigan State is included:

Kahmir Prescott is down to five schools, and the Spartans have made the cut. Michigan State offered Prescott at the beginning of April.

Prescott is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, native that attends Northeast High School. He currently ranks as a 4-star prospect according to On3’s recruiting rankings. Standing at 6-foot-1, and weighing 190 pounds, Prescott is a quality safety prospect in the 2024 recruiting class.

Alongside Michigan State, Prescott named Wisconsin, Nebraska, Pitt and Penn State in his top five.

Michigan State basketball lands commitment from top-40 SG Kur Teng

BREAKING: Tom Izzo starts 2024 with a bang, landing a commitment from 4-star Kur Teng

Tom Izzo is continuing the momentum he built on the recruiting trail in 2023 into 2024 by starting his next recruiting class with a bang. The Spartans have landed a commitment from four-star shooting guard Kur Teng.

Teng, a Haverhill, Massachusetts, native, plays his high school basketball at Bradford Christian Academy. He is the No. 37 overall prospect and the No. 8 shooting guard on the 247Sports composite.

Michigan State featured in 2024 OT Mike Williams’ top 8

MSU has been named to Mike Williams’ top 8

Michigan State is still working the recruiting board and offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic is trying to continue the hot streak he had in 2021 and 2022. One of those prospects that are near the top of his board is offensive tackle Mike Williams.

Williams is a 6-foot-7, 315 pounder from Baltimore. He currently ranks as a 3-star prospect according to 247Sports.

Williams has named a top 8 and the Spartans have made the cut alongside Maryland, Miami, South Carolina, Tennessee, USC, West Virginia and Virginia Tech.
