Michigan State offers 2022 4-star CB Jyaire “Hollywood” Brown

MSU Football has offered one of the top defensive backs in the 2022 class a scholarship.

While Mel Tucker might not be able to do too much to turn around a “meh” 2021 recruiting class, he is certainly looking to get a head start on his 2022 efforts. On Tuesday, Michigan State Football offered one of the top defensive backs in the 2022 recruiting class in Jyaire “Hollywood” Brown.

Brown is currently ranked as the No. 17 cornerback in the 2022 class and the No. 6 ranked player in the state of Louisiana according to 247sports. Personally, I think if you are nicknamed Hollywood you should get an immediate 5-star ranking but maybe that’s why I’m not in charge of star ratings.

Tucker had already offered Brown while at Colorado and he has major interest from Mississippi State along with Texas, Utah, Tennessee, and Louisville, to name a few. He attends Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, Louisiana.

[jwplayer vSGh0IO2]

Michigan State Football continues to work at building up their 2021 recruiting, this time offering 2021 3-star wide receiver Jalen Richmond a scholarship.

Richmond is the No. 23 ranked player in Arizona by the 247sports rankings. A 6 foot, 175 lb. wide-out, Richmond currently does not have major interest from the big-hitters in college recruiting, with his top offer before MSU coming from Navy.

Tucker is behind the eight-ball with recruiting right now, taking over for Dantonio midstream, so to speak, and will need to hit on a few players like Richmond for this class to have major impact for the team.

In a day that saw two 3-star prospects announce that they have received scholarship offers from Michigan State Football and their new head coach Mel Tucker, a third prospect in 4-star quarterback Peter Costelli has also announced that he has received a scholarship offer from MSU.

Costelli, who currently resides in Mission Viejo, California, is the No. 8 ranked dual-threat in the 2021 recruiting class and the No. 22 ranked player in the state of California according to 247sports. A big reason Tucker won the MSU job was because of his recruiting, and he is wasting no time getting started with next year’s class.

Costelli is the second dual-threat QB MSU has offered today after 3-star Ari Patu announced his offer this morning. They also offered a giant, 6’8″ offensive tackle in Cameron James from Chicago, Illinois.

It seems like this might be a growing trend as Tucker tries to catch-up on his MSU recruiting so make sure to check SpartansWire for the newest recruiting news.

MSU Football recruit RB Jordon Simmons officially signs with Michigan State

Michigan State recruit Jordon Simmons delayed his signing after Mark Dantonio retired, but officially signed on Sunday night.

After MSU Football head coach Mark Dantonio shocked Spartan fans everywhere with his sudden retirement on the eve of national signing day, it led many to, rightfully, question the future of the program. 3-star running back Jordon Simmons had initially committed to join Mark Dantonio’s 2020 recruiting class, but had decided to delay his signing temporarily. That delay ended Sunday night when Simmons announced via Twitter that his signing with the team was official.

Here is Jordon Simmons’ announcement, which he shared on Twitter:

The big key to Simmons deciding to stick with his commitment? Mel Tucker. The new head coach of Michigan State already had a relationship with Simmons. According to 247sports, Colorado had also extended an offer to Simmons.

This is a big development for the 2020 MSU recruiting class who already has another 3-star running back in Donovan Eaglin sticking with his commitment as well. Simmons is the number 43 back in his class while Eaglin is number 113.

Oh, and about the Mel Tucker effect? After Tucker signed with Michigan State, Simmons was one of many players and recruits who shared their excitement on social media, retweeting a number of tweets like this one from incoming recruit Darius Snow:

Michigan State Football landed commitment of two 3-star recruits this week

Michigan State has had a big start to Thanksgiving week, nabbing two 3-star linemen in two days.

Kind of like I will be doing with some stuffing and mashed potatoes in a few days, Michigan State went for second helpings this week, but instead of carbs they are double-dipping on 3-star football recruits. Mark Dantonio landed the commitment of two 3-star linemen this week, one on the offensive line and one on the defensive side.

First, the Spartans received a verbal commitment from Justin Stevens, a 3-star offensive tackle from Mississauga, Canada on Monday. Stevens is the 129th ranked tackle in the 2020 class.

Then, just a few hours ago, defensive end Avery Dunn of Shaker Heights High School (Ohio) announced his official commitment from his Twitter account.

Dunn is the fifth 3-star defensive end in the 2020 class. Some have criticized MSU for failing to land a big five-star recruit for this class, but they have started to stockpile a well-rounded class.
