[jwplayer mKgJ519R]

Redshirt freshman wide receiver Tre’Von Morgan announced he was transferring from the Michigan State program on January 3rd, and he has now found his new home. Morgan will be heading to the University of Kentucky, joining fellow former Spartan, Luke Fulton.

[vertical-gallery id=34943]

Morgan was a member of the 2019 recruiting class, rated as a high 3-star prospect. He now joins five other members of that recruiting class that have transferred from the program.

Morgan was a player that a lot of people saw huge potential in, standing at 6-foot-7 and having serious athleticism, it was something that raised an eyebrow. His potential will be missed, but if there is one position group filled with talent, it is the wide receivers.

Michigan State Football offers 2022 Florida DB Devin Moore

Michigan State added their names into the mix of schools vying for the talents of Devin Moore, a defensive back from Naples, Florida.

[jwplayer mKgJ519R]

Michigan State has been active in sending offers out to the 2022 and 2023 classes this past week and nothing changed Wednesday. Defensive Back’s coach Harlon Barnett sent out an offer to Devin Moore, a DB from Naples, Florida.

Barnett is familiar with recruiting the state of Florida from his time as Florida State’s defensive coordinator and has been hitting the state hard since returning to East Lansing.

The Spartans have a great need to add defensive backs to the roster in the 2022 class after losing several DBs to the transfer portal after this past season.

The competition for Moore is stiff, in addition to MSU the 2022 DB has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame and several other SEC schools.

Michigan State Football earns commitment from 5-star K/P Garrison Smith

Michigan State has landed a commitment from 5-star K/P Garrison Smith. Smith is the first kicker or punter to be recruited by Mel Tucker.

[jwplayer mSDA56Ej]

A signing week surprise came on Saturday for Mel Tucker and his staff, earning the commitment from 5-star kicker and punter Garrison Smith. Smith is a native of Norwalk, Ohio.

Smith will be coming to Michigan State as a preferred walk-on and will have a chance to earn the scholarship Matt Coghlin will leave behind after next season.

Smith is ranked as the no. 13 punter in the nation and no. 19 kicker by the Kohl’s Kicking Camps rating system, both giving him 5-star status in their rankings. Smith is also ranked by the Kornblue Kicking system which favors him more, ranking him as a 5-star and the no. 7 kicker in the nation.

Kohl’s and Kornblue are two of the biggest recruiting services that specialize in ranking specialists (kickers, punters and long snappers).

It is yet to be known if Smith will be on campus as a kicker or a punter, but nonetheless will be a welcomed addition to the Spartan family.

Michigan State has had problems at the punter position ever since Jake Hartbarger graduated and will need to replace senior Matt Coghlin after the 2021 season.
