Michigan State Football: 5 recruits to watch for on National Signing Day

National Signing Day is next week, February 3rd, and the Spartans look to round out Mel Tucker’s first recruiting class in East Lansing.

The class of 2021 is almost complete, as the 2021 recruiting cycle will come to a close next Wednesday, February 4th, on National Signing Day. This will mark the completion of Mel Tucker’s first recruiting class in his Michigan State career.

The Spartans currently have 19 commits in their 2021 recruiting class. 18 of those recruits have signed their letters of intent during the early signing period to attend MSU.

Michigan State has been very active in the transfer portal since the early signing period and have used the transfer portal to help retool the roster. That does not mean that closing out the 2021 recruiting class has been ignored.

Let us take a look at five recruits Spartan fans should pay attention to as decisions are made over the next few days.

Cool name – check.

Super tall lineman – check.

In-state athlete – check.

Brother Rice’s Aristotle Taylor hits a lot of the boxes for Mel Tucker and Michigan State Football, and they gave him a preferred walk-on (PFO) offer on Tuesday to join the team in 2021.

Taylor will have the opportunity to bet on himself and join the Spartans. The 6-foot-8, 235-pound defensive end is the No. 39 ranked player in the state of Michigan for 2021 by 247Sports and the No. 90 ranked defensive end.

Taylor has offers from Air Force, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Eastern Michigan, Georgetown, Illinois State, Morgan State and Yale, but a PFO offer from MSU might be enough to lure him to East Lansing.
