Michigan State football used a huge night from wide receiver Nick Marsh to pick up a huge upset of Iowa on Saturday.

The Spartans used a full team effort to lead wire-to-wire in an upset victory over Iowa on Saturday. The win snapped a three-game losing streak, and pushed the Spartans to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in Big Ten play.

Marsh finished the game with eight receptions for 113 yards in the win. He had a near touchdown as well on a play that was overturned.

Michigan State will now turn its focus to rival Michigan next week. Kickoff between the Spartans and Wolverines is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

Michigan State never trailed in the game, and was able to fight off Iowa comeback efforts throughout the second half. It was an overall impressive performance from the Spartans.

For the second time this year, Michigan State football will break out the all-green uniforms.

Michigan State announced via social media platform X on Wednesday that they’ll wear their all green uniform against Iowa on Saturday. That includes green helmets, jerseys and pants.

Michigan State last wore the all-green combination in a road game at Boston College in late September. The Spartans have also asked fans to wear green to the game on Saturday night.

Michigan State comes into this matchup on a three-game losing streak with a 3-3 overall record and 1-2 mark in Big Ten play. Iowa is 4-2 and 2-1 in conference games this year.

Michigan State football reportedly could be played under the lights of Spartan Stadium.

College football insider Brett McMurphy of Action Network reported a number of games that NBC has pegged for its “preferred primetime lineup” — which included another Spartans matchup. Michigan State’s home game against Iowa on October 19 is reportedly in the mix to be put on primetime.

Michigan State already has three known primetime night games against FAU, Oregon and Purdue. All three of those games are on Friday nights and two of those (FAU and Purdue) are home matchups.

Michigan State’s road trip to Iowa in a couple of weeks got a little bit harder on Monday

Michigan State’s road trip to Iowa in a couple of weeks grew a little bit harder on Monday.

Game times and broadcasting information for Week 5 action were released on Monday, and the Spartans’ road matchup against the Hawkeyes was moved to prime time. Kickoff for the Big Ten clash is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 30, and will be televised nationally on NBC.

The Michigan State-Iowa game had originally been penciled in as a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff and available only via streaming on Peacock. However, something must have changed for TV executives to push it into the prime-time slot.

Iowa is generally tough to beat at home, and it’ll only be tougher now for the Spartans in a nighttime environment.
