A second straight shutout leads No. 1 Michigan State to the weekend sweep over Lindenwood

Michigan State hockey played their first weekend series as the No. 1 team in the nation, hosting the Lindenwood Lions inside of Munn Ice Arena.

After a 4-0 shutout victory on Friday night, the Spartans followed it up with their second straight shutout victory on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Lions, 2-0.

In game two, it was backup goaltender Luca Di Pasquo who had a 14-save shutout in the win. His efforts were aided by Gavin O’Connell and Michael DeAngelo, who both scored goals in the contest.

MSU will be on the road in Madison next weekend to continue Big Ten play when they face off against the Wisconsin Badgers.

As the new No. 1 team in the nation, Michigan State hockey welcomed in Lindenwood for a weekend series in East Lansing.

In game one of the non-conference clash between the Spartans and Lindenwood, Michigan State dominated, winning 4-0. The Spartans outshot Lindenwood 56-29 in the game.

A 29 save shutout by Trey Augustine led the way for the Spartans while Matt Basgall, Daniel Russell, Tommi Männistö and Isaac Howard scored goals in the game.

The two teams will close their weekend series on Sunday at Munn Ice Arena at 4 p.m.

According to the USCHO rankings, Michigan State is the number one team in the college hockey nation.

In the latest rankings from USCHO, the Spartans leap frogged over Denver to take the number one spot for the first time since 2007.

The first series Michigan State will play as No. 1 team in the nation is at home this weekend, when the Spartans play host to Lindenwood inside of Munn Ice Arena.

MSU hockey takes down USA U18 National Team

MSU wins exhibition over USNTDP U18, 6-3

Michigan State hockey made the short drive over to USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth (Mich.) for a exhibition matchup against the U18 USA National Development Team.

Team USA, which features several future Spartans, and collegiate players in general, is always a fun opponent for MSU and also was a fun venue for Spartan fans to attend a game at.

In the game, the Spartans would take down USA, 6-3. MSU had six different goal scorers and got game action for both Trey Augustine and Luca Di Pasquo in net.

Michigan State, North Dakota to reportedly play in Texas

It is being reported that MSU will have a big time matchup with North Dakota in 2026

Michigan State hockey has firmly cemented themselves as one of the best programs in college hockey. With being one of the nation’s best, the Spartans are given the opportunity to do some very cool things.

Reported by John Buccigross of ESPN, the Spartans are going to be playing against another one of the nation’s best, North Dakota in Austin, Texas, for the 2026 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame game.

If it truly comes to fruition, this would be a very cool opportunity for Michigan State and their program for some massive exposure to the program.

Michigan State hockey lands Brooks Cullen

MSU hockey lands their second commitment of the week

Michigan State hockey has picked up their second commitment this week, this time coming in the form of a Minnesotan.

Brooks Cullen, a Morehead (MN) native, has made his commitment to play for Michigan State.

Cullen is a 2006 born player who currently plays for Team Spade in the Upper Midwest HS Elite League Hockey. He is expected to join the Spartans in 2026-27, but that is a fluid situation.

Michigan State hockey checks in at No. 2 in latest poll

MSU is now ranked as the No. 2 team in the nation

Michigan State has reached their best ranking of the 2024-25 campaign. On Monday, in the latest USCHO rankings, the Spartans have checked in as the No. 2 team in the country. The only team still ahead of MSU is Denver at No. 1.

This bump in the rankings comes after MSU swept Notre Dame on home ice this past weekend.

The Spartans return to action on Thursday for an exhibition matchup against the United States National Development Team before a nonconference weekend series with Lindenwood on Nov. 29.

A former Spartan spotted in Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams’ touchdown celebration on Sunday

The Detroit Lions absolutely drubbed the Jacksonville Jaguars inside of Ford Field on Sunday afternoon. A good day for those Lions fans in the Spartans fan base. It was also a good day for a noted Michigan State alumnus.

During a celebratory leap into the stands by Lions wide receivers Amon Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, they were seen jumping into the seats of a former Spartan and Detroit Red Wing, Justin Abdelkader.

Abdelkader is known as a Stanley Cup winner with the Red Wings, while winning a National Championship at MSU.

Michigan State hockey lands 2008 Russian commitment

MSU adds 2008 commitment from Russian winger

Michigan State hockey has added a big time commitment from the 2008 born age group on Monday.

Nikita Klepov has made the move to commit to the Spartans, it was announced on X.

Klepov is originally from Russia, before coming over to the United States during his high school years. He now plays in the USHL for the Sioux City Musketeers. It is expected he will join the MSU program in 2026-27.

Michigan State hockey completes sweep over Notre Dame

MSU completes a weekend sweep of Notre Dame on Saturday

After a dominating 8-3 win on Friday night, Michigan State returned to Munn Ice Arena on Saturday night for the final game of a weekend series against Notre Dame. On Saturday, the Spartans downed the Fighting Irish, 4-3, to earn their second straight sweep in Big Ten play.

The Spartans were sparked early in the game by a spectacular goal from Shane Vansaghi to give the Spartans a lead that they would not give up.

MSU’s other goals came from Matt Basgall, Gavin O’Connell and Daniel Russell.

The Spartans return to action on Thursday for an exhibition matchup against the United States National Development Team before a nonconference weekend series with Lindenwood on Nov. 28.
