Draymond Green says he does not have interest in coaching Michigan State basketball

MSU fans who want Draymond Green to coach the Spartans one day will not be happy with his comments:

Many fans in the Michigan State basketball fan base have made it known that they have a desire for Golden State Warriors star forward and MSU legend Draymond Green to be the head basketball coach at Michigan State one day.

Unfortunately, the former MSU star and future NBA Hall of Famer does not see himself having a desire to coach Michigan State after his NBA career:

‘Man I love Michigan State so much… I will always be a part of the program, but I’m just not sure I can coach Michigan State. Chasing around high school kids whose parents think they are the best thing since sliced bread and trying to tell me what I should do for their kid… I’m not sure I can really do that. And also I’ve been on a basketball schedule all my life, and I don’t think people know what that entails… Being a coach, their schedule is actually worse than mine and my schedule sucks!’

Power ranking 10 candidates for Michigan State football’s head coaching job: Version 2.0

November is here and Michigan State’s coaching search is about to start ramping up in a big way.

In this series, we have ranked the potential candidates that could be in the running to take over Michigan State’s job. The list will be capped at ten names along with a few other honorable mentions, and will fluctuate based on how coaches are performing this season along with any rumored or confirmed interest from the Spartans.

Check out where we see the rankings at heading into the final month of the college football season:

Mel Tucker hired as Michigan State head coach

Former Georgia football defensive coordinator Mel Tucker has been hired as the new Michigan State football’s head coach.

Michigan State is moving on from long time head coach Mark Dantonio and have hired former Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker.

Dantonio spent 16 years as the Spartans’ head coach, finishing his career there with a .641 win percentage and a 7-5 bowl record.  Tucker on the other hand has been climbing the coaching ranks year by year.

Tucker began his coaching career in 1997 at Michigan State as a graduate assistant.  He bounced around from college and the NFL as a defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator, winning 2 National Championships with Ohio State and Alabama.

Tucker left Alabama after that National Championship in 2015 and joined Kirby Smart at Georgia.  He spent three years as the Dawgs defensive coordinator, helping win a Rose Bowl and nearly a National Championship.

Tucker spent this past season as the Colorado head coach, where he finished 5-7.  Now Tucker finally has the head coaching position he deserves at a Power Five school.  Well deserved from a great defensive mind.
