Michigan football trending for multiple prospects following big recruiting weekend

Let’s get them!

Michigan had an enormous amount of talent on campus this weekend for official visits. The 2024 headliners on campus were five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo and defensive lineman Justin Scott. While neither are trending toward Michigan, both appeared to have had a good time posting photos and tweeting with other Michigan recruits. It’s safe to say the Wolverines are still in the hunt for both.

The Wolverines came out of the weekend with one commitment — so far. Four-star DL Owen Wafle committed to the Wolverines on Sunday. Wafle was a previous Notre Dame commit and decided to come to Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines are also trending favorably for a few other players who were in Ann Arbor this past weekend. We looked at 247Sports and On3 to see what the recruiting analysts are saying.

Bennett Warren

The 6-foot-7, 330-pound offensive tackle has two more crystal ball predictions in favor of Michigan. Steve Wiltfong, the national recruiting analyst on 247Sports, put in one himself with a confidence level of ‘6’.

Warren now has three crystal balls in for the Wolverines and one for Texas A&M. He is 175th overall on the 247Sports composite and is the 13th-best offensive tackle.

The On3 recruiting prediction machine has Michigan leading over the Aggies. The Wolverines have an 80.9% chance to land Warren.

Deyvid Palepale

The 6-foot-3, 288-pound defensive lineman was already trending toward Michigan, and another crystal ball prediction came in on Sunday in favor of the Wolverines. He has two predictions for him to commit to Michigan.

Palepale is a three-star and the 756th-ranked prospect in 2024 according to the 247Sports composite.

Dominic Nichols

The 6-foot-5 edge rusher was on campus this weekend, and he gained another crystal ball prediction in favor of Michigan. However, on Friday a Wisconsin analyst put a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Badgers. It appears this is a Michigan and Wisconsin battle.

Nichols, a four-star, is the 429th-ranked prospect in the class and the 29th-best edge recruit in 2024 according to the 247Sports composite.

Elias Rudolph

The four-star edge rusher received his first crystal ball in favor of Michigan on Sunday. The Wolverines are battling Ohio State and Pittsburgh to land the Deerfield (Florida) native. There is also a crystal ball prediction for the Buckeyes to land Rudolph.

On3’s EJ Holland put in a prediction in favor of the Wolverines. Michigan has an 89.4% chance to land Rudolph according to the recruiting prediction machine via On3.

Rudolph is the 248th-ranked player in the class and the 20th-best edge defender on the 247Sports composite.

Michigan football a finalist for 2024 four-star edge defender

This dude looks like a stud!

Michigan continues to make big waves in the 2024 recruiting world. The Wolverines have been named finalists for several big named players in the recent weeks, and big-time recruits will be taking official visits to Michigan in the month of June.

On Wednesday, Michigan became a finalist for another prospect. Daniel ‘DD’ Holmes announced the Wolverines are in his final six teams that he would be focusing on. Holmes has said he hopes to make a decision before his senior season begins.

Florida State, Maryland, South Carolina, Florida, and Rutgers rounded out the six.

The Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga edge defender stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 240-pounds.

Looking at the 247Sports Composite, Holmes is the 279th-ranked recruit in 2024 and the second-ranked prospect in the D.C. area.

Holmes talked about each of his top schools to Chad Simmons with On3. He told Simmons that Michigan was in on him early, but talks slowed down. Now Michigan has re-entered the conversation and things are going great again.

“Things have really picked back up with Michigan. They were on me heavy on early, then it slowed down some and they have come back in recently. Over the last month, Michigan has jumped back in with fire. They got me and my mom on a Zoom call to inform us about academics and that was big. Michigan is a big brand of football too. Coach Mike Elston has been talking to me a lot.”

There is no true intel on which team may be leading for Holmes. There are zero Crystal Ball predictions in on Holmes by 247Sports and if you look at the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Penn State leads with a 29.7% chance — and PSU didn’t make his final six.

More information will likely come once Holmes takes all of his official visits this summer to each of the schools.

Four-star cornerback locks in an official visit to Michigan football

Another huge name coming to #Michigan in June!

June is going to be a huge recruiting month for Michigan football. There will be top recruits in Ann Arbor to visit the campus every single weekend during the month of June.

Four-star cornerback Ondre Evans was supposed to visit Michigan on June 9 weekend, but he has officially moved his visit back one weekend. The Nashville (Tennessee) CPA corner will now take his visit on the weekend of June 16, according to On3.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, the 6-foot Evans is the 339th-ranked recruit in the 2024 class, the 30th-ranked CB in the cycle, and the No. 8 recruit in the state of Tennessee.

Evans talked to On3’s Chad Simmons and told him that Michigan really moved up his list after taking a visit to Ann Arbor last month.

“They develop players,” he told On3 earlier this month. “I’ve known Coach Clink for a while. He knows my coaches here that I play for in 7-on-7. They’ve all heard good things about Michigan and the program and Coach Clink…I went out to eat with the coaches, I toured the campus and facilities, I talked about academics and talked to some of the players,” he said. “It was a great visit. I love the coaches and the energy and also the environment.”

As of now, Michigan is competing with NC State for Evans. But teams like Arkansas, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt are right on their heels. Evans has taken an unofficial visit to Georgia as well and likes what he’s seen from the Bulldogs, but UGA has yet to offer him.
