Draft Wire predicts seven Buckeyes in first round of 2024 NFL mock draft

USA Today’s Draft Wire’s latest first-round NFL mock draft features seven Ohio State football players going in the first round.

With Week 1 of college football getting underway and the NFL preseason wrapping up, USA Today’s Draft Wire updated its 2024 NFL mock draft.

Preseason mock drafts are a tough projection to make because many things will change throughout the season. However, they are a good way to evaluate how much top-tier talent a college football team has.

The Buckeyes have sent a great deal of talent into the NFL in recent years. In fact, they’ve had at least one player in every draft since 2015, including multiple first rounders in seven of the last eight draft classes.

This mock draft projects Ohio State to produce a record number of first-round picks: Seven Buckeyes come off the board in this mock draft. Here are the Buckeyes who made the list.

ESPN predicts five Ohio State football players in first round of 2024 NFL draft

The Buckeyes are predicted to once again dominate the NFL draft’s first round #GoBucks

The college football season starts this weekend and [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] once again will reload with many NFL teams licking their chops to see what some of the current Buckeyes do on the gridiron.

Last year the Buckeyes had three picks in the first round and ESPN believes that the 2024 version (subscription required) will have two more for a total of five. We all know that wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is going to be an early selection, but how how is the question.

The other four are names that we have seen pop up on various other mock drafts, but their question remains the same as Harrison Jr.’s. Find out below where [autotag]Matt Miller[/autotag] believes who the five Buckeyes are, and where they will get taken.

Four Ohio State football players named to the Lombardi Award watch list

More Buckeyes on a watch list. You don’t say #GoBucks

The preseason honors keep coming for the [autotag]Ohio State football team[/autotag].

It seems as if every day that another award puts out their watch list, and with it, another day where multiple Buckeyes have the potential to bring some hardware back home to Columbus.

Today, it was the [autotag]Lombardi Award[/autotag], given out annually to the top lineman in college football. The last Ohio State star to win the award was linebacker [autotag]A.J. Hawk[/autotag] back in 2005. The first winner of the award was Buckeye great [autotag]Jim Stillwagon[/autotag] in 1970.

Find out below which four current Buckeyes made the watch list along with who has the best chance to break the Ohio State drought.

Top three defensive tackles in the Big Ten for 2023

Ohio State football may have the two most talented defensive tackles in the Big Ten #GoBucks #B1G

The Big Ten is incredibly deep at the defensive end position with a few unique pass rushers set to turn the college football world on its head, but the interior is a different story.

It was hard to narrow the defensive end list to three, but for the defensive tackle list, it was hard to find three even worthy of mention. We saw two Ohio State players be ranked in the top two spots at end and it appears that the interior rankings will have the same outlook, but much like at end these rankings are based more on projections than confirmed production.

2023 Buckeyes Wire Preseason All-Big Ten team: Defensive Linemen

Ohio State football dominates in predictive All-Big Ten team #GoBucks #B1G

The 2023 college football season is right around the corner and the Big Ten is loaded with top-notch talent. Predicting who will end up on the All-Big Ten has proven challenging. Not only was it hard to choose one player over another, but it was also hard to admit that some of Ohio State’s most prominent rivals have some serious dogs on their squad.

This list dives into the defensive linemen — and as expected — the Big Ten has some dominant defensive linemen that make it very hard to narrow it down to just four. This list may appear biased considering the number of Buckeyes who made the list, but it would be hard for the most objective fan to deny the insane talent Ohio State has on the front four.

In the age of the transfer portal, it is possible for a dark horse to rise as a front-runner, but we do our best to provide the most educated guess based on previous performances and situations.

247Sports has five Ohio State players selected in their latest 2024 NFL mock draft

Another mock draft, another handful of Buckeyes projected to be taken early #GoBucks

The 2023 college football season is still a few months away, but that hasn’t stopped many from projecting where [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] and other star prospects might land in the [autotag]NFL draft[/autotag].

There have been plenty of mock drafts dropped recently, some having a larger amount of Buckeyes selected, others not quite as many.

247Sports latest mock drafted up by Brad Crawford is in the middle, with five Buckeyes projected into the first round. Honestly, this is the best bet, especially considering where we are as the season approaches.

Find out below which Buckeyes were mocked by Crawford into the first round and what pick they were taken at while ignoring which team due to uncertainty of which team will pick where.

PFF Predicts five Buckeyes in first round of Way-Too-Early 2024 NFL mock draft

It’s never too early to think about next year, right? #GoBucks

The 2023 NFL draft came to an end on Saturday with six Buckeyes getting drafted in total.  This was tied for the fifth most of any school with Alabama and Georgia leading the way with 10 players drafted each.

On Thursday night C.J. Stroud went second overall to the Texans, Paris Johnson Jr. went sixth overall to the Cardinals, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba went 20th overall to the Seahawks.

The remaining selections were Zach Harrison to the Falcons in the third round, Dawand Jones to the Browns in the fourth round, and Luke Wypler to the Browns in the sixth round.

With the 2023 NFL draft in the rear-view mirror, it didn’t take draft experts long to give their sneak peek of what’s in store for the next draft class.  This includes PFF’s Max Chadwick who released a mock draft on Monday that had five Ohio State players in the first round.

247Sports predicts seven Ohio State players selected in the first round of 2024 NFL draft

Seven Buckeyes in the first round?!?! #GoBucks

The 2023 NFL draft began Thursday night with three Ohio State players getting selected in the first round.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud went No. 2 to the Houston Texans, offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. was taken at No. 6 by the Arizona Cardinals and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was selected at No. 20 by the Seattle Seahawks.

Many schools would think that having three players taken within the first twenty picks is impressive, but 247Sports Allen Trieu had a “hold my Buckeye candy” moment for the 2024 potential Buckeyes selected in the first round.

Trieu released a way-too-early 2024 mock draft with seven [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] stars projected to get picked on Day one. Find out below which Buckeyes Trieu believes could be taken in the first round about a year from now.

Top-five rated Ohio State defensive tackle recruits since 2000

Top five rated Ohio State defensive tackle recruits since 2000 #GoBucks

We have been diving into some of the more highly touted recruits in Ohio State history. We recently discussed the quarterbacks, running backswide receiverstight endsoffensive tacklesguards, center and defensive ends but we wanted to look into the history of recruiting defensive tackles.

There are some very interesting names on this top-five recruiting list and even though 247Sports only goes back to 2000, there are some memorable names. It is always fun to reflect on how some of these guys performed and whether or not they lived up to expectations. This list only confirms the insanity of talent Ohio State has had at the defensive tackle position and some of the interesting guys that just missed the cut are Quinn Pitcock, future NFL center, Billy Price and Cameron Heyward. Let’s dive into the list.

Ohio State defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr. ran how fast?

The big man can move #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] defensive tackle [autotag]Michael Hall Jr.[/autotag] is a massive young man, standing 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing 290 pounds.

He showed flashes of his ability this past fall, registering 19 tackles to go along with 4.5 sacks. Unfortunately, injuries prevented him from really breaking out, but the results of his just scratching the surface of his potential have many Buckeyes and fans expecting Hall to have a massive third season.

In a recent Ohio State football Zebra Report (a speed test), Hall was  the fastest player on the defensive side of the ball. He was faster than every other defensive lineman, linebacker and defensive back. Hall maxed out at an astounding 21.4 miles per hour.

That is absolutely insane if you think about it. Hall weighs more than the majority of the players on this list. It would not surprise me one bit to see the Ohio native explode onto the national scene this fall.
