5-star Michael Carroll, an Alabama football commit, announces transfer to IMG Academy

Michael Carroll is transferring to IMG Academy.

Five-star offensive lineman Michael Carroll, an Alabama commit, announced on Wednesday that he is set to transfer to IMG Academy.

Carroll, who had played for Central Bucks East (Doylestown, Pennsylvania), is the No. 12 recruit in the nation according to On3. In the On3 Industry Rankings, he is the top-ranked interior offensive lineman in the nation and the second-best recruit in Pennsylvania in the class of 2025.

Carroll committed to Alabama in June over offers from Baylor, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Penn State, South Carolina and Tennessee among others.

IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida) finished 10-0 last season. They were the fifth-best team in the nation in the final USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25.

The highly-rated recruit will have someone very familiar with him on the IMG Academy roster, his brother.

Liam Carroll, the younger brother of Michael Carroll, also announced on Thursday his transfer to IMG.

A 6-foot-2 athlete in the class of 2027, Liam Carroll already holds an offer from Penn State.

Alabama lands commitment from 2025 4-star IOL Michael Carroll

Kalen DeBoer continues to impress on the recruiting trail after landing another big-time commitment!

The Alabama Crimson Tide football program received some positive news on the recruiting trail on Monday afternoon. 2025 four-star interior offensive lineman Michael Carroll announced his commitment to Alabama. Carroll chose the Crimson Tide over other programs like theĀ Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, and Penn State Nittany Lions.

Carroll took an official visit to Alabama this weekend. The native of Doylestown, Pennsylvania was scheduled to take official visits to Penn State and Michigan in the coming weeks.

He is the first offensive lineman to commit to Alabama in the 2025 recruiting class. He is listed at 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds. Carroll could play either guard or tackle at the college level. The Alabama coaching staff recruited him to play both positions.

Alabama lands one of the nation’s top interior offensive linemen in Carroll. It is certainly a good building block for Alabama to secure a commitment from an elite offensive lineman like Carroll.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the latest Alabama football news and Alabama football recruiting updates.

WATCH: Wisconsin legend Michael Finley steals beer from Luka Doncic in viral moment

Wisconsin legend Michael Finley is the subject of a viral moment after the Dallas Mavericks’ 124-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night.

The win clinched the Mavericks’ trip to the NBA Finals. As one would expect, the postgame mood was celebratory.

That includes star Luka Doncic, who the viral video shows standing outside the locker room with his father holding a beer — that until Finley walked by.

The Badger legend subtly took the beer out of Doncic’s hand before turning around and acting as if nothing happened. The reposted video on X now has more than six million views.

Finley, now Dallas’ Assistant General Manager, played 17 years in the NBA including nine with the Mavericks (1996-2005). His NBA accolades include an NBA title in 2007, two All-Star appearances and a spot on the All-Rookie First Team in 1996.

He played at Wisconsin from 1991-1995 and retired as the program’s all-time leading scorer — a mark that was later broken by Alando Tucker. Finley’s Badger career included two First-Team All-Big Ten nominations and his No. 24 jersey being retired by the program.

The former Badger is now rising the ranks in the NBA front office world. There is no backstory to his viral moment, but it occurred under pretty good circumstances for him, Doncic and the Mavericks.

Dallas will face the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals. Game 1 is scheduled for June 6 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.

Michigan football makes top four for elite 2025 offensive lineman

Must win recruitment for #Michigan. #GoBlue

The transfer portal has been hot in the past week for Michigan football but the recruiting trail as it pertains to the 2025 class has been much quieter.

But that doesn’t mean that the Wolverines aren’t doing work.

One player who’s received a lot of attention in the up-and-coming class is 2025 Doylestown (Pa.) Central Bucks East four-star interior offensive lineman Michael Carroll, who has some of the top offers in the country. Thought to be a Penn State lean for much of his recruitment, it appears that the Nittany Lions aren’t necessarily the team to beat for the 6-foot-6, 300-pounder.

On Saturday, Carroll revealed his top four schools and Michigan football made the cut along with PSU, Alabama, and Georgia.

Carroll also has offers from Clemson, Florida, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Wisconsin, and others. He is a Penn State legacy, but at the moment, there are no 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for any school.

Here’s the dossier on Carroll from On3:

Michael Carroll, who goes by the nickname “Big Mike,” comes from a family of all-star athletes. His dad, Michael Carroll Sr., played football for Penn State and his mom, Letitia Carroll, was a Hall of Fame basketball player for Michigan State. “Heā€™s dedicated and hardworking, always pushing himself to be the best,” Central Bucks East coach John Donnelly said. “Michaelā€™s journey as a football player is not just about the game. Itā€™s about the relationships heā€™s built, the lessons heā€™s learned, and the impact heā€™s had on his community. His passion for the sport is contagious.”

Carroll has made several unofficial visits to Ann Arbor, including for the 2023 win over Ohio State, and with his most recent coming in March 2024. He’s expected to visit Michigan again in June.

Carroll is the highest-rated by On3 which has him as a four-star and the No. 27 player in the country, regardless of position.

Penn State among final four heavyweights for elite 2025 offensive lineman

Penn State is a favorite in the final four for key 2025 offensive lineman.

With Penn State looking to fortify their 2025 recruiting class, there are plenty of positions the coaching staff is pursuing heading into their official visit portion of the calendar.

Ever since [autotag]Phil Trautwein[/autotag] took over as the offensive line coach in 2020, the Nittany Lions have started stacking highly-ranked prospects in their classes that has completely changed the profile of that unit.

With the ultimate goal of Penn State competing for a national championship, being able to dominate in the trenches was very much needed.

As the Big Ten gets set for their first season of the expanded conference in 2024, it’s even more important that the Nittany Lions continue to recruit the offensive line at a high level.

They got some great news when it was revealed they had made the top four of one of their top 2025 targets, [autotag]Michael Carroll[/autotag].

The other schools who made his final list are heavyweight programs Michigan, Alabama, and Georgia.

The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder is ranked as a four-star recruit according to On3’s Industry Rankings which has him as the 183rd-best player in the country. What’s interesting, though, is that On3 themselves see him as the No. 27 recruit in the 2025 class and second-best player at his position.

As an instate recruit, it’s safe to say that [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] desperately wants to land this one, especially considering the other three schools the Nittany Lions are competing against.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Penn State the edge right now with a 29.3% chance to land Carroll. Michigan is second with a 20.0% chance, followed by Alabama at 12.3% and Georgia at 8.2%.

The four-star is going to take official visits to all four campuses, with his first coming on May 31 to Georgia before he hits Alabama on June 7, Penn State on June 14 and then ends with Michigan on June 21.

This is going to be a big time battle for the Nittany Lions, and one that could signal they are able to compete against top programs in the country for coveted recruits.

Trautwein has done a fantastic job on the recruiting trail during his tenure. Landing Carroll would solidify that.

Wisconsin missed the final schools for four-star class of 2025 offensive lineman Michael Carroll on Saturday.

The Badgers initially made Carroll’s top 12 list on April 9, though did not make his cut to four. The top lineman’s final schools are Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Penn State.

Carroll is 247Sports’ No. 216 player in the class of 2025, No. 11 interior offensive lineman and No. 8 recruit from his home state of Pennsylvania. On3 is even higher on the offensive line prospect, ranking him as the No. 183 player in the class and No. 13 at his position.

On3’s prediction machine gives Penn State a 29.3% chance to land a commitment, Michigan a 20% chance, Alabama 12.3% and Georgia 8.2%.

Wisconsinā€™s class of 2025 currently ranks No. 16 in the nation with 11 players committed. It has commitments from several offensive tackle prospects, though is yet to land an interior offensive lineman.

Wisconsin a finalist for one of 2025’s top offensive line recruits

Wisconsin football made the final 12 schools for four-star class of 2025 interior offensive lineman Michael Carroll on Monday.

Wisconsin made the cut along with Georgia, Penn State, Florida, UCLA, Tennessee, Clemson, South Carolina, Michigan, Rutgers, Texas and Alabama.

The Badgers have heavy competition to land the highly-touted lineman. He would certainly be a splash in a pivotal class to Luke Fickell’s tenure at Wisconsin. That class currently ranks No. 17 nationally without any blue-chip players committed.

Michael Carroll announced a top 12 that includes Rutgers football

Michael Carroll puts out a top 12 that includes Rutgers football.

Four-star offensive lineman Michael Carroll announced his top 12 on Monday afternoon, and Rutgers football made the cut.

Carroll has consistently spoken highly about Rutgers in his recruitment.

Making the top 12 is nice for Carroll, but there is stiff Power Five interest here for the offensive lineman from Central Bucks East (Doylestown, Pennslyvania). Penn State is the perceived leader here in Carroll’s recruitment.

Carroll is a four-star offensive offensive lineman according to ESPN and Rivals, where he is the No. 236 recruit in the nation. ESPN ranks him as the No. 12 recruit in Pennsylvania.

At 6-foot-6 and 298 pounds, Carroll is physically impressive and dominant against rushers at the high school level.

He posted his top 12 on X, the social media platform that was formerly known as Twitter:

Carroll moves well in open space, taking long strides. He is a good downfield blocker as well.

[lawrence-related id=37203,37193,37185]

In being able to cope with space, Carroll moves well laterally and engages physically and violently with his hands. He finishes his blocks off well.

Nebraska offers Pennsylvania offensive lineman

Nebraska recently offered a fast rising offensive lineman out of Pennsylvania

Earlier this week, the Nebraska Cornhuskers extended an offer to 2025 offensive lineman Michael Carroll.

A native of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, Carroll is a 6-foot-6, 300-pound offensive lineman from Central Bucks East in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, which is located about 45 minutes outside of the City of Brotherly Love.

A Penn State legacy, Carroll’s recruitment has exploded over the last several months and now holds offers from notable programs such as Cincinnati, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Penn State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Carroll is ranked by On3, ESPN, and Rivals as a four-star prospect and a top-300 prospect nationally.

The Cornhuskers 2025 recruiting class currently sits within the top 25 recruiting classes in the cycle with five commitments.

Rutgers football recruiting: A Pennsylvania standout got a chopper visit from Greg Schiano

Greg Schiano took a helicopter to visit Pennsylvania offensive lineman Michael Carroll.

Michael Carroll got the chopper treatment from Rutgers football and head coach Greg Schiano on Tuesday.

Rutgers has made Carroll a priority recruit.

One of the nationā€™s premier offensive linemen, Carroll is a 6-foot-6, 295-pound offensive tackle from Central Bucks EastĀ  (Glenside, Pennsylvania). Carroll hasĀ a strong offer list that includesĀ Baylor, Boston College, Cincinnati Maryland,Ā Michigan State,Ā Penn State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and West Virginia among others.

His most recent offer came earlier in January from Kentucky.

Rivals ranks him as the No. 229 player in the nation and Pennsylvaniaā€™s sixth-best recruit in the 2025 class.

On Tuesday, Schiano took his helicopter to visit Carroll. The helicopter is used by Rutgers to make a splash and it certainly appears to have done just that.

Also on the visit along with Schiano were wide receivers coach [autotag]Damiere Shaw[/autotag] and offensive line coach [autotag]Pat Flaherty[/autotag].

[lawrence-related id=34784,34770]

The work done by Flaherty this past season at Rutgers was borderline miraculous. In his first season at Rutgers, Flaherty turned what had been one of the worst offensive lines in college football the previous five seasons into a solid unit in the Big Ten.

The play and development of the line under Flaherty is a major reason why Rutgers finished 7-6 (3-5 Big Ten) and won the Pinstripe Bowl against Miami.

[lawrence-related id=34788,34773]

The helicopter used by Schiano on recruiting visits is paid for using private funds and donations that are separate from the athletic departmentā€™s budget.
