Philadelphia has lost 3 games in a row and 9 of its last 10 after falling 98-86 at the Orlando Magic Friday as a 2.5-point underdog. G Jared McCain had a team-high 29 points and was one of only three 76ers who scored more than 5.

Miami has dropped 2 of its last 3 games after falling 119-110 at the Indiana Pacers Sunday, failing to cover as a 3.5-point underdog. G Tyler Herro scored a team-high 28 points on 7-of-11 shooting from 3.

76ers at Heat picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 105, 76ers 102

Moneyline

BET HEAT (-150).

Philadelphia has struggled immensely this season, losing 10 of its 12 games. With the loss of Maxey and the lack of availability from Embiid, the 76ers have not been the powerhouse that the NBA has seen in recent years.

While Miami has been without Butler, it has what it takes to hand Philadelphia another defeat Monday.

Against the spread

PASS.

The best wager in this matchup is on the Heat to win straight up.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 212.5 (-110).

Philadelphia has hit the Under in 5 of its last 6 games while it has struggled to identify scorers without Maxey and Embiid. It has scored 107 or fewer points in each of its last 6 games.

Expect the Miami defense to continue to create problems for the 76ers offense.

Season series: Miami leads 1-0

Miami beat Indiana 124-111 Friday in NBA Cup action while covering as a 4.5-point underdog. C Bam Adebayo had his best game of the season, finishing with 30 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals. Miami has won 2 of its last 3 games.

The Pacers’ starting unit was abysmal vs. Miami as all 5 starters finished with a +/- of -22, or worse, while every bench player finished with a positive +/-. Indiana also lost the turnover battle 20-10 to the Heat.

Heat at Pacers picks and predictions

Prediction

Pacers 119, Heat 117

Moneyline

LEAN PACERS (-130).

These types of “baseball series'” where teams meet for back-to-back matchups are almost always split in the NBA, so this is a pretty safe bet based on that alone. Furthermore, I simply don’t see the Pacers losing their third straight game here, so I’m backing them here as slight favorites.

Against the spread

LEAN HEAT +2.5 (-110).

Miami has covered the spread in 2 of its last 3 games and is 3-1 ATS in its last 4 matchups against the Pacers. Miami and Indiana are very similarly calibered teams at the moment, so look for this matchup to be close throughout.

This is a lean because a spread of 2.5-points leaves almost no margin for error, automatically making the bet risky.

Over/Under

BET OVER 229.5 (-110).

The Over has hit in back-to-back games for Miami and is 4-1 in its last 5 games. For Indiana, the Over is 5-0 in its 5 home games this year and 8-4 on  the season. The Over has also hit in each of the last 5 matchups between these squads.

With defenders like Nesmith and Nemhard still out for the Pacers, their defense will continue to struggle, making the Over here a safe bet.

Miami Heat at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Miami Heat at Indiana Pacers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Miami Heat (4-6) face the Indiana Pacers (5-6) in the NBA Cup group play on Friday. Tipoff from Gainbridge Fieldhouse is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Heat vs. Pacers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Pacers won series 2-1 last season

Both teams are coming off close losses. The Heat are on the fifth game of a 6-game road trip and are 1-3 so far. On Tuesday they lost 123-121 to the Detroit Pistons as 1.5-point favorites. The Heat rallied from 18 points down to force overtime, but lost a chance to win when coach Erik Spoelstra called a timeout with 1.1 seconds left that he didn’t have giving Detroit a technical free throw.

The Pacers were 2.5-point road favorites against the Orlando Magic (-2.5) on Tuesday. This game was ugly as each team had 17 turnovers and neither team shot better than 40% from the field. The Magic held on to win 94-90, well below the Over/Under of 224.5. Despite shooting 3-14 from the floor, Pacers PG Tyrese Haliburton was the only Indiana starter with a positive +/- at +5.

Heat at Pacers picks and predictions

Prediction

Pacers 125, Heat 109

Moneyline

PASS.

The Pacers (-185) are a better bet on the spread.

Against the spread

BET PACERS -4.5 (-105).

Miami is 1-3 on their road trip and even though they are getting an extra day of rest, Indiana’s defense is improving. They allow the 4th-fewest assists per game (23.6) and 6th-fewest fastbreak points (13.2).

The Pacers and Heat are both top teams against the spread after a loss at 4-1. But Indiana has won and covered in their last 3 home games beating the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks and Orlando Magic.

Miami’s road competition has been easier, having beaten the Minnesota Timberwolves by 1 point, Washington Wizards and Charlotte Hornets.

Over/Under

BET OVER (226.5) 115.

The Pacers are 7-4 towards the Over (63.6%) and are 5-0 after a loss. While the Heat are 5-5 O/U on the season, they are 2-1 as a road dog (66.7%).

Miami also posts the 5th highest 3-point percentage in the NBA (38.8%).

Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Miami Heat (4-5) and Detroit Pistons (4-7) meet Tuesday at Little Caesars Arena for an In-Season Tournament game at 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Heat vs. Pistons odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Heat lead 1-0

The Heat picked up a thrilling 95-94 win at the Minnesota Timberwolves last time out as a 7.5-point underdog while the Under (219) cashed. That victory halted a 3-game skid. The Under is 5-3 in the past 8 outings, too.

Miami will be without SF Jimmy Butler for a second consecutive game due to an ankle injury, so expect F Haywood Highsmith and F Kevin Love to start at the forward spots again.

The Pistons lost 101-99 to the Houston Rockets on Sunday, but Detroit did cover as a 4-point home ‘dog. They’re a respectable 6-3 against the spread (ATS) in the past 9 games, while the Under is 4-1 in the past 5 outings, and 8-3 in 11 games on the season, including the first meeting in Miami Oct. 28, won by the Heat 106-98.

Heat at Pistons picks and predictions

Prediction

Pistons 106, Heat 103

Moneyline

The PISTONS (+100) are a decent play at even-money, as they catch a break with Jimmy Buckets being sidelined for the Heat (-120) in this In-Season Tournament battle at LCA.

Detroit is looking to avenge an 8-point loss in late October against the Heat in Miami, although the Pistons were able to cover. The Pistons have won 2 in a row at home, including a victory over LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 4, so they’re tough. Cade Cunningham is playing great ball, too, posting 3 triple-doubles in the past 4 outings.

Against the spread

Playing the Pistons +1.5 (-110) is silly, unless you’re absolutely convinced that the Heat -1.5 (-110) are going to win, but only by a single point.

If that’s not you, and you like Detroit, just play it straight up for a cheaper price.

AVOID.

Over/Under

UNDER 214.5 (-110) is worth a play in this tournament battle.

The Under has cashed in 4 of the past 5 games for the Pistons, while going 8-3 on the season. That includes the first meeting in South Florida in late October, as the teams combined for 204 points with a total of 219.5.

The Under has cashed in the past 3 meetings in the series, and 7 of the previous 9 battles since March 15, 2022.

Season series: First meeting; Nuggets won series 2-0 last season

The Heat have lost 2 straight games and 3 of the last 4. They are coming off a 115-112 road loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, but they covered the 5-point spread as underdogs.

The Nuggets have won 3 in a row and last played Wednesday, a 124-122 home win over the Oklahoma City Thunder as 7-point underdogs.

Heat at Nuggets picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 124, Nuggets 118

Moneyline

The Nuggets have won 3 straight at home after starting the season 0-2 at Ball Arena.

Heat  C Bam Adebayo only shot 5-for-21 against Phoenix on Wednesday. He will bounce back, although he will have to face C Nikola Jokic defensively.

Miami will need to slow a Denver offense that has scored over 120 points in 3 straight games. But the Nuggets also have allowed 119 points or more in 5 of their last 6 games.

BET HEAT (+125).

Against the spread

The Heat are 2-2 ATS as underdogs with both covers being outright wins.

The Nuggets have been favored 6 times this season. They are 1-5 ATS in those games, although only 2 ATS losses were outright.

But expecting the Miami straight-up win, the spread here makes less sense because of the plus odds on the moneyline.

PASS.

Over/Under

The Over has hit in the Nuggets’ last 6 games. They have scored over 120 points themselves in 3 straight games and in 5 of the last 6 contests. Their opponents average 117.2 points per game.

BET OVER 223.5 (-110).

The Miami Heat (3-3) are on the road Wednesday to face the Phoenix Suns (6-1). Tip-off from Footprint Center is at 9 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Heat vs. Suns odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting, Suns won 2-0 last season

The Heat have lost 2 of their last 3 games and are coming off a 111-110 loss at home on Monday to the Sacramento Kings when C Domantas Sabonis had an offensive putback with 0.7 seconds left in the game. The Heat were 1-point favorites.

The Suns enter with a 5-game winning streak. They beat the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday at home 118-116, but did not cover the 7-point spread as favorites. F Kevin Durant scored 35 points and broke a 116-116 tie with a layup with 24 seconds left.

Heat at Suns picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 109, Heat 106

Moneyline

The Suns are healthy and undefeated at home. The Heat have won their only road game and are 2-0 away from home (they beat Washington on a neutral court in Mexico City).

The Heat have not lost consecutive games this season, but the Suns are both rolling and clutch, as they have had close games in all but 1 this season.

The Suns should pick up the home win, but don’t bet the ML at -225, as there isn’t enough value to make that bet, unless it is part of a parlay bet.

PASS.

Against the spread

The Suns have been living in close games. Three of their 6 wins have been by 3 points or less and 2 were by 6 points. They are 2-5 ATS overall on the season.

The Heat are 1-3 ATS in their last 4 games, but are 2-0 ATS in their 2 games away from home.

BET HEAT +5.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Five of the Heat’s 6 games this season have not had totals above the projection for this game.

The Suns have had 3 games not reach 221 total points. The Over and Under have alternated the last 4 games and their win over Philly had the Over cash in.

BET UNDER 220.5 (-105).

Miami Heat at Washington Wizards odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Miami Heat at Washington Wizards odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Miami Heat (2-2) face the Washington Wizards (2-2) Saturday. Tip-off from Mexico, at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico, is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (NBA TV). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Heat vs. Wizards odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Heat won last season’s series 3-1

After dropping their first 2 games, the Wizards are back to .500 beating the Atlanta Hawks on the road and at home. Washington pulled away in the 4th quarter of their last game, dropping 40 points. They also outscored the Hawks 25-12 in fast-break points and won outright as home underdogs (+4.5) 133-120.

The Miami Heat hosted the New York Knicks, as a home underdog, on Wednesday. G Tyler Herro led the Heat with 34, making 8 of 13 3s, which was almost half of Miami’s total buckets from beyond the arc (17). But the Knicks’ new center Karl-Anthony Towns scored 44 to give Miami their 2nd home loss in 3 games, 116-107.

Heat at Wizards picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 112, Wizards 101

Moneyline

Miami’s offense, while ugly, protects the ball and spreads it around. The Heat have the highest assists per field goal made (0.73) and the second highest assist to turnover ratio (2.29).

Despite being the “road” team, the Heat won’t struggle with the fans with the game in Mexico. However, with the current lines I would PASS here and look to the spread.

Against the spread

While Miami has only covered once this season (1-3), and that time they were a road favorite. The Wizards, when giving a ton of points, have not kept it close. In their 2 losses, they were +14 and +9.5. In each of those games they lost by an average of 19.5 points.

While it’s a big spread, I still think the Heat will win and cover tonight.

LEAN HEAT -9.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Miami’s posts a bottom 5 shooting percentage this season (43.6%). Washington is slightly better (44.9%), but Miami’s top 5 defense will make scoring difficult. In a new venue, I see a low-scoring matchup. The total has already dropped 2 points Saturday morning, which means the books agree.

BET UNDER 222.5 (-105).

Miami is 1-2 against the spread (ATS) and is led by G Terry Rozier, who is averaging 19.3 points per game (PPG).

The Knicks have opened against 3 teams wth championship aspirations — the Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics. New York is coming off a 110-104 home loss to the Cavaliers, closing as a 3-point favorite. It is 1-2 ATS, having only covered in a 123-98 win over the Pacers. The Knicks have yet to really unlock what they’re capable of, and they’ve only been playing top-tier opponents, having destroyed the Pacers by 25. Despite losing to the Cavaliers and Celtics, the Knicks have more capable playmakers and have 4 of their top-5 scorers shooting at least 50% from the field. That efficiency should make a difference.

None of the Heat’s top-6 scorers shoot 50% or better from the field, and the Heat have scored 106 points or fewer in 2 of 3 games against weaker competition. The Heat are just 1-2 ATS and were destroyed by 19 points at home against their lone quality opponent. That said, expect the Knicks to take care of business much like Orlando did in Miami.

Back KNICKS -1.5 (-120).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 214.5 (-110).

Neither team has consistently scored through three games. The Knicks have scored 109 points or fewer in 2 of 3 games and have gone Under the projected total in 2 of 3 as well. They have held opponents to under 110 points in 2 of 3 and below 100 once.

The Heat, who have been among the best defensive teams over the last few seasons, have allowed 106 points or fewer in 2 of 3 and are 1-2 O/U as well. They have scored under 106 points in 2 of 3 as well, and their inefficiencies from top weapons have already been noted.

That said, expect one team to struggle offensively and back UNDER 214.5 (-110).

Pistons at Heat picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 116, Pistons 109

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on the Heat (-375) to beat the winless Pistons on Monday.

Against the spread

LEAN PISTONS +8.5 (-105).

While Detroit has yet to find a win, 2 of its 3 losses have come by 6 points, including Saturday’s loss against the reigning champion Celtics. Behind Ivey and Cunningham, the Pistons can stay within range of covering. Miami has allowed 106 or more points in both its games this season and lost its only home game while also playing as a favorite.

Over/Under

BET OVER 219.5 (-110).

Miami has allowed 106 or more points in both games this season and scored 114 in Saturday’s win. Detroit has allowed 113 or more points in each game this season while scoring 109 or more in 2 of its 3. Expect a fast-paced game with the Heat leading the way to the Over.

Miami Heat at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Miami Heat at Charlotte Hornets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Miami Heat (0-1) and Charlotte Hornets (1-1) meet Saturday at Spectrum Center with tip-off set for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Heat vs. Hornets odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Heat swept 4-0 last season

The Heat dropped their season opener as 2-point home favorites Wednesday, losing 116-97 to the Orlando Magic with the Over (208) hitting. G Terry Rozier scored a team-high 19 points with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks. However, Miami’s struggles on the glass were evident as they were outrebounded 57-41, contributing to the loss.

The Hornets fell to the Atlanta Hawks 125-120 Friday but managed to cover by the hook as 5.5-point road underdogs with the Over (227) hitting. PG LaMelo Ball had a wild game, leading the Hornets with 34 points while also committing 10 turnovers and fouling out with 6:50 left in the game. C Nick Richards contributed a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. However, Charlotte struggled defensively, allowing the Hawks to shoot 48.1%.

Heat at Hornets picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 112, Hornets 102

Moneyline

PASS.

I have the Heat (-275) winning this one in Charlotte, but I’m not going to risk 2.75 units to win 1. I’d rather take my wager to the spread.

Against the spread

BET HEAT -7.5 (-105).

Miami is set to bounce back after a tough opening night from F Jimmy Butler (3 points) and C Bam Adebayo (9 points), who combined for 2-of-13 shooting. With 2 days of rest, Miami’s stars should make an impact on both ends of the court.

The Hornets’ slower pace aligns with Heat’s style, and with Adebayo anchoring the defense, Charlotte will struggle to score inside. Playing on consecutive nights could lead to fatigue for the Hornets, giving Miami a clear advantage. The Heat won and covered all 4 matchups against Charlotte last season, going 2-2 ATS.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 222.5 (-110).

Both the Heat and Hornets favor a slower pace of play, with both teams finishing in the bottom 10 of the NBA in possessions per game last season. Miami prides itself on defense, ranking in the top 5 for defensive rating a season ago. This trend has carried into their recent matchups with the Under hitting in 4 of their last 5 meetings.

With the line set in the 220s, this number feels too high, making the UNDER a strong play.
