[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

For the 2nd time in 3 days, the Miami Heat (36-30) are on the road facing the Detroit Pistons (12-54). They tip off on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET at Little Caesars Arena. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Heat vs. Pistons odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Heat lead 3-0

The Heat beat the Pistons 108-95 on Friday in Detroit, covering the 7.5-point spread as favorites, snapping a 4-game losing streak. Before the skid, they had won 7 of 8. They are No. 8 in the Eastern Conference, 1 game out of the No. 6 seed to avoid the play-in tournament.

The Pistons, prior to their loss to the Heat on Friday, had won 2 games in a row and 3 of 4, giving them a quarter of their wins all season in the span of 4 games. Only Washington has fewer wins this season than Detroit.

Heat at Pistons picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 108, Pistons 100

Moneyline

The Heat won by 13 on Friday in Detroit. They have 19 road wins, 7 more than the Pistons have total wins, who only have 7 wins at home all year.

And while the Pistons have won 3 of their last 5 games, it is the only time all season they have done that. They have not won 3 straight yet this season.

So it isn’t a smart bet to go with Detroit, while it isn’t a valuable bet to go Pistons here.

PASS.

Against the spread

The Pistons are 2-1 ATS against the Heat this season and they are an overall decent ATS bet. Despite only 12 straight-up wins, they are 34-32 ATS overall and 17-17 ATS at home.

Detroit’s last 4 losses have been by 8 or more points while 5 of the Heat’s last 6 wins have been by more than 7 points.

BET HEAT -6.5 (-110).

Over/Under

After 5 straight games of scoring 110 or more, the Pistons were held to 95 by the Heat on Friday. They have averaged 102.3 points in 3 games against the Heat.

The Heaat have scored 108 or fewer points in 5 straight games.

BET UNDER 214.5 (-110).

Heat at Pistons picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 113, Pistons 105

Moneyline

AVOID.

The Pistons don’t seem interested in winning games, but the Heat have had notable struggles lately as well. Miami shouldn’t be a road (-550) favorite given how it has played, but Detroit is also unplayable on the moneyline here.

Against the spread

BET PISTONS +9.5 (-110).

The Pistons are 2-3 ATS in their last 5 home games and just 15-20-1 ATS on the season at home. While that doesn’t sound great, Miami is just 13-20-1 ATS on the road.

To make matters even worse, Miami is just 6-11-1, a 35.3% cover rate, as a road favorite. This is not a position the Heat have performed well in, and they are coming off a 14-point road loss as a favorite.  The Heat are 1-5 ATS over their last 6 road matches as well.

The Pistons have scored 115 or more in 3 of their last 6, so while their 2 top scorers are out, they have been able to manage offensively. Against Miami, that will be important.

That said, the Heat shouldn’t be double-digit road favorites against any other team in the NBA, so back the PISTONS +9.5 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 220.5 (-110).

The Pistons have gone Under in 6 of their last 8 games and in 3 straight games, scoring 100 or fewer in 2 straight.

The Heat have gone Under in 2 of their last 6. They will be on the 2nd night of a back-to-back and are 5-6 O/U with no rest. Miami is also just 5-13 O/U as a road favorite as well.

Considering both trends, back the UNDER 220.5 (-110).

Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Miami Heat (18-12) travel to Little Caesars Arena Sunday to take on the Detroit Pistons (4-24). Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Heat at Pistons odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Heat are coming into this game following a 10-point victory over the Orlando Magic.

Just about every team is shorthanded right now, and the Heat are no different, down their two key players on both sides of the ball. G Kyle Lowry is active though. The Heat, at 18-12, are one of the best covering teams in the NBA.

The Pistons, on the other hand, are not. At 13-15, it hasn’t been profitable to bet on Detroit. As home underdogs, they’re 5-6. Detroit will be led by G Cade Cunningham with star F Jerami Grant expected to be sidelined.

Heat at Pistons odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 108, Pistons 99

Money line

PASS on the money line. I don’t like a favorite down their two best players at -320. I’d rather play the points for far better value.

Against the spread

BET on the HEAT -6.5 (-122) as the best value in this match. Miami has had several players step up without Adebayo and Butler. Lowry’s leadership will be the difference in this game.

With Max Strus red hot, having dropped 32 against the Magic, the Heat should have all it takes to win this game with ease.

The Pistons are the second-worst shooting team and fifth-worst turnover team. They just haven’t put it together behind Cunningham. The Heat have an efficient offense and rank 11th in defensive rating.

Overall, Miami is fifth in net rating. They’re a complete, deep team. They should be able to blowout Detroit.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 208.5 (-108) as I don’t expect Gabe Vincent and Strus to combine for 59 points in this one.

The Heat should come out on top and cover, but they should want to slow this game down and play it at their pace. The Heat have the third-slowest pace in the league, and they’ll likely use that to their advantage.

With the Pistons not a great shooting team, while also turning the ball over often and the Heat typically slowing things down, I’d bet on the Under in this one.

Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Miami Heat (11-6) travel to Little Caesars Arena Tuesday to take on the Detroit Pistons (4-12). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Heat at Pistons odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

After a feisty altercation between LeBron James and Pistons big Isaiah Stewart Sunday, one that went viral, the Pistons will be down a starter at home.

Up 15 points heading into the fourth, the chaos clearly impacted Detroit’s play, letting that lead slip and losing by five. That said, Pistons’ No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham is starting to show his superstar upside. The Pistons are 7-9 ATS and 8-7-1 (O/U).

As for the Heat, they’ll be almost at full strength with Jimmy Butler returning a few games ago. Miami is currently sitting in third place in a competitive Eastern Conference. The Heat lost to Washington in their last game.

Miami is 12-5 ATS and 10-7 O/U. However, they’re just 5-5 on the road as compared to 6-1 at home, so an energized Pistons team, despite entering as heavy underdogs, has a chance for the upset.

Heat at Pistons odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 107, Pistons 100

Money line

PASS on the money line. While I like Miami to win, the Heat haven’t played well on the road.

For that matter, I don’t trust any NBA team in the regular season enough to lay -475. Also, I don’t feel confident enough that Detroit has the size or talent to handle the Heat.

Look to the points for value.

Against the spread

BET the PISTONS +9.5 (-107) as Jerami Grant and Cunningham are starting to be the leaders Detroit hoped for. Cunningham has put up double figures in eight of his last nine games.

Cunningham had his first career triple-double in Detroit’s previous game vs. the Lakers. More surprising, Cunningham is hitting 50% of his shots in three of his last six games. As for Grant, he should be able to hang with Butler.

Also, Miami’s struggles on the road are notable. The Heat have the second-best net rating at home. However, Miami ranks fifth in net rating on the road. The Heat have been able to eke out road wins but aren’t nearly as dominant.

While I do believe Miami will get the win, covering a 9.5-point spread isn’t easy in the NBA. The Pistons have lost seven of 16 games by double figures.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 208.5 (-108) despite the total being on the relatively low side. While Cunningham and Grant have performed well recently, I just can’t trust that they’ll continue to do so.

Additionally, if Robinson, a key for the Heat’s offensive spacing and movement, doesn’t play then Miami’s offense will suffer.

The Pistons have the second-worst true shooting percentage. They have the third-worst offensive rating as well. With Robinson a question mark and the Heat a top-tier defensive team, I’d lean the Under.

Also, the Pistons have scored less than 100 points eight times this season and have scored less than 103 points 10 times. Their offensive outlook is not great.
