CONCACAF Gold Cup: Mexico vs. Canada odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Mexico vs. Canada odds and lines, with CONCACAF Gold Cup picks and predictions.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup continues Thursday with a semifinals matchup between Mexico and Canada. Kickoff will be at 10 p.m. ET at NRG Stadium in Houston. Below, we preview the Mexico vs. Canada odds and lines, and make our best CONCACAF Gold Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Mexico started off with a sluggish scoreless draw against Trinidad & Tobago in the opening match of group play. It has been a machine ever since, and it spanked Honduras 3-0 in the quarterfinals to punch a ticket to Houston, in front of a pro-El Tri crowd.

Canada roughed up Costa Rica in the quarters Sunday, and it won’t go quietly into the night. MF Stephen Eustaquio did his best Lenarduzzi impression against CRC, going for an assist and a goal for Les Rouges. The Canadians are in the Gold Cup semis for the first time since 2007.

Prediction

Mexico 2, Canada 1

Money line (ML)

MEXICO (-185) is favored, as it tries to set up what would be a titanic final in Las Vegas against the United States. El Tri must beat a tough Canadaian side, and USA must dispatch upstart Qatar.

Mexico will have its hands full, but you can expect the favorite to find a way.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 (+105) has been the play by the public, but I am feeling that side. I expect Mexico finds the back of the net early in the first half, and it’ll likely build a 2-0 lead before Canada makes things interesting late.

Summer Olympics Men’s Soccer: Japan vs. Mexico odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Japan vs. Mexico odds and lines, with Summer Olympics Men’s Soccer picks, tips and best bets.

In Summer Olympics Men’s Soccer Group A action Sunday, Japan and Mexico play in a 7 a.m. ET kickoff at Saitama Stadium. Below, we preview the Japan vs. Mexico odds and lines, and make our best Summer Olympics bets, picks and predictions.

Host-nation Japan picked up a 1-0 victory against South Africa in its Olympics opener. Standout Takefusa Kubo picked up the only tally to propel Samurai Blue to the victory.

Mexico’s senior team is still playing in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, but there are plenty of outstanding international players to go around. El Tri proved that with a decisive 4-1 victory over France in its Group A opener Thursday.

Prediction

Mexico 1, Japan 0

Money line (ML)

MEXICO (+145) was dominant in its opening match against France, and it’s suddenly one of the favorites to win Gold.

It should be able to top the host nation Japan, which won, but wasn’t terribly impressive against South Africa.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (-140) is the best play on the board in this matchup, as Japan showed tremendous defense against South Africa. El Tri also shut down a very good France side in the opener. Look for the scoring chances to be at a premium at Saitama Stadium.

CONCACAF Gold Cup: Mexico vs. Honduras odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Mexico vs. Honduras odds and lines, with CONCACAF Gold Cup picks and predictions.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup continues Saturday with a quarterfinals matchup between Mexico and Honduras in a 10 p.m. ET kickoff at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Below, we preview the Mexico vs. Honduras odds and lines, and make our best CONCACAF Gold Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Mexico won Group A despite a slow start against Trinidad & Tobago. Panic set in among the El Tri faithful, but Mexico quelled those fears with a sound 3-0 beating of Guatemala and won the group with a 1-0 clincher over El Salvador Sunday.

Honduras spanked Grenada 4-0 in its group play opener and edged Panama 3-2. However, it lost a decisive match to Qatar 2-0 to finish second in Group D.

Mexico vs. Honduras: Odds, picks and predictions

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:05 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Mexico -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Honduras +650 (bet $100 to win $650) | Draw +333
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -105 | U: -125)

Special MLS betting offer

Bet $1 on any team, WIN $100 (in free bets) if any MLS team scores a goal that day. Promotion available in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA, WV and Washington D.C.

Prediction

Mexico 1, Honduras 0

Money line (ML)

Mexico (-250) will cost you two and a half times your potential return, and that’s quite a bit more expensive than I am comfortable with.

This is a quarterfinals match which El Tri ‘should’ dominate. Mexico is 7-4-4 in its last 15 meetings in international play against its Central American counterparts.

AVOID.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (-125) is the best play on the board here. Mexico ground out a 1-0 win over El Salvador in its third and final group play match, and you can expect a similar result here.

Honduras was shut down against Qatar and will struggle to make scoring chances happen against a much better Mexican side.

Summer Olympics Men’s Soccer: Mexico vs. France odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Mexico vs. France odds and lines, with Summer Olympics Men’s Soccer picks, tips and best bets.

In Men’s Summer Olympics Group A soccer action Thursday, Mexico and France play in a 4 a.m. ET kickoff at Tokyo Stadium. Below, we preview the Mexico vs. France odds and lines, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Mexico is a little at a disadvantage here, as the national team remains alive and well at the CONCACAF Gold Cup. So, this side is made up of mostly younger, prospect-type players. F Henry Martin, GK Guillermo Ochoa and MF Luis Romo do give El Tri a little bit of experience, too.

The senior team for France just completed EURO 2021, so stars like Mbappe are away from the squad. Experienced players like F Andre-Pierre Gignac and MF Florian Thauvin are in Tokyo, and 19-year-old striker Nathanael Mbuku is a future star.

Mexico vs. France: Odds, picks and predictions

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday at 7:40 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Mexico +333 (bet $100 to win $333) | France -115 (bet $115 to win $100) | Draw +220
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: +110 | U: -155)

Prediction

France 2, Mexico 0

Money line (ML)

FRANCE (-115) is the clear-cut favorite, and it has the offense to make quite a bit of noise up front. The defending World Cup champs might not have Mbappe, but the cupboard is anything but bare.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (-155) is the “lean”, as Mexico, in particular, could get off to quite a slow start. France could strike for the opening score in the first half, then play a possession game the rest of the way. I am not expecting a lot from Mexico in this very difficult group.

Concacaf Gold Cup: El Salvador vs. Mexico odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s El Salvador vs. Mexico odds and lines with Concacaf Gold Cup betting picks, tips and best bets.

In both team’s last Group Stage match, El Salvador (2-0-0) will take on Mexico (1-0-1). Kickoff is slated for 10 p.m. ET at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas. Below, we preview the El Salvador vs. Mexico odds and lines, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

While Mexico enters as the heavy favorite, it’s El Salvador which currently leads Group A. It has yet to concede a goal while scoring two of its own through its first two matches.

As for the Mexican side, it’s coming in as the more talented team, but it did draw Trinidad and Tobago. Mexico blasted 30 shots with 7 on target, so things just weren’t going its way.

Regardless, this will be the most challenging game for both sides.

El Salvador at Mexico: Odds, picks and predictions

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 2:05 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: El Salvador +1200 (bet $100 to win $1200) | Mexico -550 (bet $550 to win $100) | Draw +525
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -175 | U: +130)

Special MLS betting offer

Bet $1 on any team, WIN $100 (in free bets) if any MLS team scores a goal that day. Promotion available in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA, WV and Washington D.C.

Prediction

Mexico 1, El Salvador 1

Money line (ML)

“Lean” to the DRAW +525 as the only real value on the money line. I still wouldn’t put more than a quarter unit on it as Mexico is the more skilled side.

However, after tying Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico’s -550 value isn’t great. Along those lines, El Salvador has looked solid to open the tournament. It had 40 shots while its opponents have had 13.

It’s not just luck either. F Alex Roldán is a real threat, having scored already this tournament, and plays for the MLS’s best team. Expect El Salvador to push Mexico’s limits in this one.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

“Lean” to the UNDER 2.5 (+130) as neither side has yet to concede.

There’s no denying both offenses have some firepower, but at the same time, both defenses have been superb so far.

Mexico has scored three and given up zero. El Salvador has scored four and given up zero. Both teams have allowed their opponents little opportunity as well.

D Eriq Zavaleta plays for Toronto FC and is leading the El Salvador back line. Mexico also has an experienced backline.

While I’d still only place half a unit on it, combine the two sides, and three of the four Unders have hit so far this tournament. It’s a risky bet, but it’s the only one I’d consider on the total.

Mexico vs. Guatemala odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Mexico vs. Guatemala odds and lines, with CONCACAF Gold Cup picks and predictions.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup rolls on Wednesday with Group A play featuring Mexico (0 wins, 0 losses, 1 draw) and Guatemala (0-1-0) in a 9:30 p.m. ET kickoff at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. Below, we preview the Mexico vs. Guatemala odds and lines, and make our best CONCACAF Gold Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Mexico opened with a rather uninspiring 0-0 draw against Trinidad & Tobago Saturday. It dictated the pace of the game but just couldn’t generate any offense.

Guatemala is just surprised to be here, as it thought it was eliminated last Tuesday but Curacao had a COVID-19 outbreak in its camp, and Guatemala was invited back. It lost 2-0 to El Salvador in Sunday’s opener.

Mexico vs. Guatemala: Odds, picks and predictions

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 5:10 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Mexico -5000 (bet $5,000 to win $100) | Guatemala +3300 (bet $100 to win $3,300) | Draw +1300
  • Over/Under: 3.5 (O: -125 | U: -110)

Special MLS betting offer

Bet $1 on any team, WIN $100 (in free bets) if any MLS team scores a goal that day. Promotion available in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA, WV and Washington D.C.

Prediction

Mexico 2, Guatemala 0

Money line (ML)

Mexico (-5000) heads into this one as the decisive favorite, as the books expect El Tri to take out its scoreless draw frustrations on undermanned Guatemala. You cannot risk $100 for every $2 won, no matter how sure a thing this might be.

AVOID.

Instead, it’s a better bet to look to MEXICO -2 (-190) in the handicap section, and maybe even a small-unit wager on MEXICO -3 (+125) at plus-money. We saw last night how the floodgates opened up in Honduras-Grenada, and we should expect a similar result here.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 3.5 (-110) is the play, as Guatemala doesn’t have its full cast of players from a squad that was already mediocre and not able to qualify on its own.

Mexico had issues in Game 1, so even if it were to post a 3-0 result, which would be a very good bounce-back, it’s still going Under.
