CONCACAF Gold Cup: Mexico vs. Honduras odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Mexico vs. Honduras odds and lines, with expert CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage game picks, predictions and best bets.

In a CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage matchup, Mexico and Honduras meet at NRG Stadium in Houston on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET (FS1/fuboTV). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mexico vs. Honduras odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Mexico is looking to bounce back in a big way after getting embarrassed by Team USA 3-0  in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals. El Tri ended up settling for 3rd place in a 1-0 win over Panama last Sunday.

Honduras has had a terrible winter and spring, posting a total of just 4 points with no victories during 2022 World Cup qualification. It also suffered a 1-0 loss to lowly Venezuela in a tune-up match prior to this Gold Cup.

Los Catrachos hasn’t beaten El Tri in any competition since posting a 2-1 win in 2007. These clubs have met 3 previous times at the Gold Cup, with Mexico winning each meeting.

Mexico vs. Honduras picks and predictions

Prediction

Mexico 2, Honduras 0

Moneyline (ML)

As poor as Mexico (-210) looked at the Nations League, particular in Las Vegas in a mismatch against the USMNT, it should be able to roll past Honduras (+600).

Los Catrachos has been a prideful and formidable bunch in previous years, especially riding national stars like Jerry Bengtsen. However, for the 1st time in its history, Honduras failed to record a win in World Cup qualification, and it amassed just 4 draws. This side isn’t ready for a major competition, and Mexico will easily get by Honduras.

However, you still cannot risk 2 times your potential return. Instead, look to the 2-way handicap, taking MEXICO -1.5 (+130).

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (-130) is worth a look, but be careful. As poorly as Honduras is playing, Mexico could easily hang 3 goals on it.

Instead, I like the Multiple Correct Score prop, taking MEXICO 1:0, 2:0 OR 3:0 (+155) at plus-money.

If you like a little bit safer of a play, taking NO (-160): BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE is also a solid play which should come through.

World Cup Qualifying: Honduras vs. USA odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Honduras vs. USA odds and lines, with CONCACAF World Cup qualifying picks and predictions.

In the third match of the final round of 2022 World Cup Qualifying for both teams, USA takes on Honduras Wednesday. The match is slated to start at 10:30 p.m. ET at Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Below, we preview the Honduras vs. USA odds and lines, and make our best World Cup qualifying bets, picks and predictions.

This will be the USA’s second road match, having disappointingly tied Canada 1-1 at home Sunday.

After going up 1-0 early in the second half, the Americans allowed a nice Canadian cross across the middle to find the back of the net. In the first match of the final round, the USA traveled and drew El Salvador 0-0.

The US has two draws in the final round, as does Honduras. Both sides plus Canada and El Salvador are the four that have drawn both of their first two matches. Honduras drew both El Salvador and Canada as well.

Prediction

USA 1, Honduras 1

Money line (ML)

“LEAN” to the DRAW (+215) as the best value on the money line. Both sides have played the same competition and while USA drew Canada, it did so without M Gio Reyna and M Weston McKennie.

The Americans needed that win and truly didn’t deserve it. McKennie was dismissed, and now D Sergiño Dest may be out as well as he left against Canada due to an ankle injury.

There’s no reason to believe USA can come out and win this game despite F Christian Pulisic in for the side recently placed in the top-10 of FIFA’s international rankings.

USA is the better side, but it hasn’t shown that lately.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the UNDER 2.5 (-180) as the better value is on the money line. Typically, I’d like the full unit bet, but I’d still only go for a half unit as the price is steep.

In the four games combined for the two sides, only 4 goals have been scored. Both teams had a scoreless match in the last week, so it’s entirely possible this one doesn’t see a single goal.

USA clearly struggled to create chances, and without key midfielders, it may once again fail to move the ball. As for Honduras, behind FC Dallas M Bryan Acosta, it has played up to its level of competition.

Given how both teams have played lately, the Under is the better bet, but the price makes me hesitant to put much on it.

CONCACAF Gold Cup: Mexico vs. Honduras odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Mexico vs. Honduras odds and lines, with CONCACAF Gold Cup picks and predictions.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup continues Saturday with a quarterfinals matchup between Mexico and Honduras in a 10 p.m. ET kickoff at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Below, we preview the Mexico vs. Honduras odds and lines, and make our best CONCACAF Gold Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Mexico won Group A despite a slow start against Trinidad & Tobago. Panic set in among the El Tri faithful, but Mexico quelled those fears with a sound 3-0 beating of Guatemala and won the group with a 1-0 clincher over El Salvador Sunday.

Honduras spanked Grenada 4-0 in its group play opener and edged Panama 3-2. However, it lost a decisive match to Qatar 2-0 to finish second in Group D.

Prediction

Mexico 1, Honduras 0

Money line (ML)

Mexico (-250) will cost you two and a half times your potential return, and that’s quite a bit more expensive than I am comfortable with.

This is a quarterfinals match which El Tri ‘should’ dominate. Mexico is 7-4-4 in its last 15 meetings in international play against its Central American counterparts.

AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (-125) is the best play on the board here. Mexico ground out a 1-0 win over El Salvador in its third and final group play match, and you can expect a similar result here.

Honduras was shut down against Qatar and will struggle to make scoring chances happen against a much better Mexican side.
