In a CONCACAF Gold Cup Group D matchup, Guatemala and Cuba meet Tuesday at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Kickoff is set for 8:45 p.m. ET (FS1/fuboTV). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Guatemala vs. Cuba odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Guatemala suffered a 1-0 setback against Venezuela in an international friendly last time out on June 18 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. Prior to that, La Azul y Blanco was lighting up the scoreboard in the Nations League B, going for 4-0 win against French Guiana on March 27, and a 2-1 win over neighbor Belize on March 24.

Last time out for Cuba, it suffered a 2-0 setback against Uruguay in an international friendly June 20. Prior to that, Chile routed Cuba 3-0 in a June 11 friendly.

In CONCACAF Nations League B play, Cuba has won 5 straight matches since a 2-1 setback to Guadeloupe on June 2. It avenged that loss with a 1-0 victory March 26, thanks to a Yasnier Matos goal in stoppage time just before the half.

Guatemala vs. Cuba picks and predictions

Prediction

Guatemala 1, Cuba 0

Moneyline (ML)

Guatemala (-225) will cost you over 2 times your potential return if you bet it straight up. That’s too expensive, especially against a Cuba (+650) side playing with some pretty good confidence.

Instead, consider GUATEMALA 1:0, 2:0 OR 3:0 (+120) in the multiple correct score section at plus-money for a much better value.

Over/Under (O/U)

Under 2.5 (-185) is a little too rich for my blood, too. My personal limit for a total play is -140, and this is just priced way out of line.

Instead, take a chance on UNDER 1.5 (+160) for a light play at plus-money. I also like the halftime and fulltime play, taking TIE/GUATEMALA (+270) for an opportunity to nearly triple up.

Mexico vs. Guatemala odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Mexico vs. Guatemala odds and lines, with CONCACAF Gold Cup picks and predictions.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup rolls on Wednesday with Group A play featuring Mexico (0 wins, 0 losses, 1 draw) and Guatemala (0-1-0) in a 9:30 p.m. ET kickoff at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. Below, we preview the Mexico vs. Guatemala odds and lines, and make our best CONCACAF Gold Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Mexico opened with a rather uninspiring 0-0 draw against Trinidad & Tobago Saturday. It dictated the pace of the game but just couldn’t generate any offense.

Guatemala is just surprised to be here, as it thought it was eliminated last Tuesday but Curacao had a COVID-19 outbreak in its camp, and Guatemala was invited back. It lost 2-0 to El Salvador in Sunday’s opener.

Prediction

Mexico 2, Guatemala 0

Money line (ML)

Mexico (-5000) heads into this one as the decisive favorite, as the books expect El Tri to take out its scoreless draw frustrations on undermanned Guatemala. You cannot risk $100 for every $2 won, no matter how sure a thing this might be.

AVOID.

Instead, it’s a better bet to look to MEXICO -2 (-190) in the handicap section, and maybe even a small-unit wager on MEXICO -3 (+125) at plus-money. We saw last night how the floodgates opened up in Honduras-Grenada, and we should expect a similar result here.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 3.5 (-110) is the play, as Guatemala doesn’t have its full cast of players from a squad that was already mediocre and not able to qualify on its own.

Mexico had issues in Game 1, so even if it were to post a 3-0 result, which would be a very good bounce-back, it’s still going Under.
