CONCACAF Gold Cup: Mexico vs. Panama odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Mexico vs. Panama odds and lines, with expert soccer picks, predictions and best bets.

In the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, Mexico battles Panama. Kickoff from Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mexico vs. Panama odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

After losing lost to the USMNT 3-0 in the Nations League semifinal, Mexico rebounded in the Gold Cup. It won Group B with 6 points and scored 7 goals and allowed just 2 in the 3 matches. It then beat Costa Rica 2-0 on July 8 and Jamaica 3-0 in the semifinal last Wednesday. Mexico is led by long-time GK Guillermo Ochoa.

Panama won Group C in the Gold Cup, going 2-0-1 and scoring 6 goals while allowing 4. Panama took down Qatar 4-0 in the quarterfinal and USA 1-1 (5-4) in penalty kicks in the semifinal Wednesday. Panama also reached  the Nations League knockout stage and lost 1-0 to Mexico in the 3rd-place game after losing 2-0 to Canada in the semifinal.

Mexico vs. Panama picks and predictions

Prediction

Mexico 3, Panama 1

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

Mexico is the far superior side here and ranks 14th in the FIFA World Rankings. It also looked dominant against a competent Jamaica side that also put together one of the best CONCACAF Gold Cup rosters.

Panama, while it did down the USMNT, didn’t do it decisively. It sits 57th in the FIFA rankings. While it did beat Qatar 4-0, it had just 6 shots on target.

Mexico has more technical players along with quality experience in high-profile matches. It won’t be overshadowed by the size of this game and should come out on top. However, at (-160), it isn’t worth a play here.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (+125).

Mexico has topped this total in 4 of its last 7 games and has scored at least 2 goals in each of the knockout stage games. Mexico has had 5 goals in its last 2 games and had 13 shots on target. It managed 3 on GK Andre Blake in the semifinal.

Panama has scored in every game during the Gold Cup, topping this total in all but 1 match. It also lost 1-0 to Mexico on June 18, so the rosters should be more familiar with the play of each other. Panama has scored 2 or more goals in all but 1 Gold Cup match as well.

Both teams have strong attacks, and with the added familiarity, more goals should be scored. Take the OVER 2.5 (+125).

CONCACAF Gold Cup: Jamaica vs. Mexico odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Jamaica vs. Mexico odds and lines, with expert soccer picks, predictions and best bets.

[anyclip pubname=”2129″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8190″]

In the semifinal of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, Jamaica battles Mexico. Kickoff from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is set for 10 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jamaica vs. Mexico odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Jamaica finished 2nd in Group A behind the USMNT, which it drew 1-1 on July 2. It then took down Trinidad and Tobago 4-1 and Saint Kitts and Nevis 5-0, advancing to the quarterfinals. Jamaica beat Guatemala 1-0 on Sunday evening 1-0 in what basically was a road game. The key name to keep an eye on is GK Andre Blake, who came up huge against Guatemala. Blake ended with 6 saves.

Mexico has looked strong since its 3-0 loss to the USMNT in the Nations League semifinal. It beat Panama 1-0 in the 3rd-place match and beat Honduras 4-0 and Haiti 3-1 in the group stage before losing to Qatar 1-0. It beat Costa Rica 2-0 in the quarterfinal. Mexico dominated every fashion of that match, having 5 more shots and 7 more shots on goal.

The winner plays the USMNT-Panama winner in the championship game.

Jamaica vs. Mexico picks and predictions

Prediction

Mexico 2, Jamaica 1

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

When Mexico lost to Qatar, despite having 24 more shots, it still had Group B locked up. It has breezed by Costa Rica, Haiti and Honduras. While Jamaica has one of the best rosters in CONCACAF at full strength, Mexico has shown little weakness over the past few weeks, beating another semifinalist (Panama) in the last month as well.

Jamaica isn’t quite as proven, beating Guatemala just 1-0. While it did draw the US, it had half as many shots and was playing against the 2nd string for the USMNT unlike Mexico did in the Nations League.

These odds are justified, but I would still pass on Mexico to win outright at (-165).

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (+105).

Jamaica did give up 6 shots on target against Guatemala, a nation that sits 116th in FIFA Men’s World Rankings. The chances were there, and Mexico should be able to get at least 1 if not a few on Blake. Jamaica has scored in every Gold Cup game as well and scored 10 goals in the group stage, so it has some attacking prowess as well.

Mexico tallied 7 goals in the group stage and scored 2 on Costa Rica. The finishing is much better than most other sides Jamaica has faced. Mexico had 74 shots in 3 group stage matches. It will be able to put pressure on Jamaica.

Mexico’s attack coupled with Jamaica’s recent quality finishing should give hope this game can produce goals. Take the OVER 2.5 (+105).

CONCACAF Gold Cup: Mexico vs. Costa Rica odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Mexico vs. Costa Rica odds and lines, with expert soccer picks, predictions and best bets.

In the quarterfinal of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, Mexico battles Costa Rica. Kickoff from AT&T Stadium in Dallas is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mexico vs. Costa Rica odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Mexico ended its Gold Cup group stage with a 1-0 loss Sunday to Qatar, which scored in its lone shot on target. Mexico beat Honduras 4-0 June 25 and Haiti 3-1 June 29 prior to losing its final battle. Mexico ended atop Group B with Qatar also qualifying for the knockout stage.

Costa Rica scored 7 goals (no player scored 2 goals) and allowed 6 goals through its 3 stage games, posting a 1-1-1 record. Costa Rica finished 2nd in Group C behind Panama, while Martinique and El Salvador were eliminated. Costa Rica beat Martinique 6-4 and drew El Salvador 0-0.

As of June 29, Mexico sits 14th on the FIFA World Ranking and Costa Rica ranks 42nd.

Mexico vs. Costa Rica picks and predictions

Prediction

Mexico 2, Costa Rica 0

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

Costa Rica did not look impressive in the group stage. It was outshot 10-4 by in a 2-1 loss to Panama and barely edged El Salvador in shots, 3-2, in the 0-0 draw.

While Mexico (-300) might have lost 3-0 to the USA in a Nations League Cup semifinal, it has looked better since. It lost to Qatar, but had 24 more shots and 5 more shots on target. Mexico had 17 or more shots in each group stage match.

Couple that offense with a disappointing group stage for Costa Rica, and it is clear these odds are justified. However, at -300, it doesn’t make much sense to play Mexico to straight-up win. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (+110).

Mexico has gone Under this total in 5 of 10 matches in 2023, and it has gone Under in 2 of its last 4 matches. Costa Rica has gone Under this total in 3 of its 7 games this year and has been held scoreless in 3 of its last 6 games.

It will be taking on a competent Mexico defense that allowed just 2 group stage goals as well. Mexico also allowed just 4 shots on goal through those matches, so it should be able to heavily limit Costa Rica.

In what should be a more competitive match than either side consistently faced in the group stage round, expect more difficulty in getting easy opportunities. BACK UNDER 2.5 (+110).

CONCACAF Gold Cup: Mexico vs. Qatar odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Mexico vs. Qatar odds and lines, with soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

In the final group stage matchday for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, Mexico battles Qatar. Kickoff from Levi’s Stadium is set for 9 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mexico vs. Qatar odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Mexico lost to the United States 3-0 in the Nations League semifinal on June 15. Since then, it has played better, beating Panama 1-0 in the 3d-place game then taking down Honduras 4-0 and Haiti 3-1 in the 1st two group stage matches. Mexico ended with 32 shots on Haiti and 17 on Honduras.

Qatar, the country which hosted the World Cup in 2022, lost to Haiti 2-1 on June 25, the first matchday. It then drew Honduras 1-1 on June 29, a game in which both teams ended with 10 men. Qatar was outshot in both matches which doesn’t bode well in its match with the top Group B side. Qatar ranks 58th in the world rankings while Mexico sits 14th.

Mexico vs. Qatar picks and predictions

Prediction

Mexico 4, Qatar 1

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

Mexico dominated both Honduras and Haiti, sides that Qatar either struggled with or lost to. Despite that, Mexico doesn’t necessarily have to win this game to win the group, so it might not put its best foot forward. Nonetheless, pass on the strong favorite at (-300) and also avoid playing either big-payout plus-money value.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 3.5 (+115).

Mexico has been on a tear offensively. It scored 4 goals against Honduras and then 3 against Haiti. It should have similar success against a Qatar side that allowed 3 goals through 2 matches. Haiti had 15 shots on Qatar, and Mexico dominated Haiti.

Qatar has scored in both games as well, so while it has been dominated, it has at least had enough opportunities to put something on the scoreboard. It has scored in 7 of 8 games so far in 2023.

Put together Mexico’s dominance and Qatar’s ability to get a goal, and take the OVER 3.5 (+115).

CONCACAF Gold Cup: Haiti vs. Mexico odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Haiti vs. Mexico CONCACAF Gold Cup odds and lines, with expert soccer picks, predictions and best bets.

Haiti battles Mexico in the 2nd CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage match for both sides. Kickoff from University of Phoenix Stadium is set for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Haiti vs. Mexico odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Mexico, after losing 3-0 in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinal on June 15, took down Panama 1-0 in the 3rd place match. It then beat Honduras 4-0 in the 1st Group B action. F Luis Romo kicked off the game quickly, scoring in the 1st and then 23rd minute. Mexico ended with 17 shots to Honduras’ 6. It also had 55% possession.

Haiti beat Qatar 2-1 in its 1st match. It has yet to lose in 2023, beating Montserrat 4-0 on March 25 and then Bermuda 3-1 on March 28. Haiti ended with 5 more shots than Qatar, scoring both its goals in extra time. It had just 1 more shot on goal yet still managed to come out on top.

Haiti vs. Mexico picks and predictions

Prediction

Mexico 2, Haiti 0

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

Unfortunately, there’s just not much value here. Mexico hasn’t been great against top-tier sides, and the young generation may not hold up quite as well as the older one did in international play, but it should still be able to get the job done here.

Haiti has yet to lose international play this year, but it hasn’t played very many quality opponents either. Mexico is the favorite in Group B by a wide margin, and it should come out on top. Ultimately, pass on the moneyline play.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (+125).

Haiti has played 3 games this year, scoring 2 or more goals in each. But, against Qatar, the best opponent it has faced, it only had 3 shots on goal and scored 1 goal on a penalty kick. It didn’t create many chances and should struggle against a quicker Mexico defense.

On a similar note, Mexico scored 4 against Honduras, but it had just 6 shots on goal. It scored 1 goal in its prior 2 games combined as well. The high-volume scorers aren’t there for this new generation quite yet. Combine it all and take UNDER 2.5 (+125).

CONCACAF Gold Cup: Mexico vs. Honduras odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Mexico vs. Honduras odds and lines, with expert CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage game picks, predictions and best bets.

In a CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage matchup, Mexico and Honduras meet at NRG Stadium in Houston on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET (FS1/fuboTV). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mexico vs. Honduras odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Mexico is looking to bounce back in a big way after getting embarrassed by Team USA 3-0  in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals. El Tri ended up settling for 3rd place in a 1-0 win over Panama last Sunday.

Honduras has had a terrible winter and spring, posting a total of just 4 points with no victories during 2022 World Cup qualification. It also suffered a 1-0 loss to lowly Venezuela in a tune-up match prior to this Gold Cup.

Los Catrachos hasn’t beaten El Tri in any competition since posting a 2-1 win in 2007. These clubs have met 3 previous times at the Gold Cup, with Mexico winning each meeting.

Mexico vs. Honduras picks and predictions

Prediction

Mexico 2, Honduras 0

Moneyline (ML)

As poor as Mexico (-210) looked at the Nations League, particular in Las Vegas in a mismatch against the USMNT, it should be able to roll past Honduras (+600).

Los Catrachos has been a prideful and formidable bunch in previous years, especially riding national stars like Jerry Bengtsen. However, for the 1st time in its history, Honduras failed to record a win in World Cup qualification, and it amassed just 4 draws. This side isn’t ready for a major competition, and Mexico will easily get by Honduras.

However, you still cannot risk 2 times your potential return. Instead, look to the 2-way handicap, taking MEXICO -1.5 (+130).

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (-130) is worth a look, but be careful. As poorly as Honduras is playing, Mexico could easily hang 3 goals on it.

Instead, I like the Multiple Correct Score prop, taking MEXICO 1:0, 2:0 OR 3:0 (+155) at plus-money.

If you like a little bit safer of a play, taking NO (-160): BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE is also a solid play which should come through.

CONCACAF Nations League 3rd-place match: Panama vs. Mexico odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Panama vs. Mexico odds and lines, with expert CONCACAF Nations League 3rd-place game picks, predictions and best bets.

The CONCACAF Nations League 3rd-place match features Panama and Mexico at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET (Paramount+/fuboTV). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panama vs. Mexico odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Panama looks to secure its 1st medal in continental play since 2015 when it hits the pitch in Vegas on Sunday night. La Marea Roja, which translates to ‘The Red Tide’, was washed up last time out against Canada. It had no answers in a 2-0 setback in the semifinal match Thursday night.

Mexico was embarrassed by the USMNT, falling 3-0. El Tri can go 1 of 2 ways in Sunday’s consolation match. It will either come out one fire, or it will lazily go through the motions against Los Canaleros, keeping the underdogs in it all the way.

Panama vs. Mexico picks and predictions

Prediction

Mexico 1, Panama 0

Moneyline (ML)

It’s a little on the expensive side, and over my personal moneyline limit for a singular bet, but MEXICO (-175) is the play. I’d prefer to mix this in with at least 1 or 2 more teams either in soccer, or a cross-sport parlay, to maximize the value.

El Tri is a proud group, and I believe it comes back strong after the 3-0 emasculation against Team USA last week. Panama didn’t look very good against Canada, and it won’t look very good here, although this won’t be a blowout, either.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (-130) is the best play on the board.

Neither of these sides will be terribly emotional heading into the 3rd-place match. The clubs only had 2 full days to rest, and Las Vegas isn’t exactly the best play for rest and relaxation with so many distractions.

I expect a slow, slow pace to the 1st half, and 1ST HALF – NO GOALS (+180) is a strong play for a chance to nearly triple up.

In addition, I like PANAMA UNDER 0.5 GOALS – REGULAR TIME (+105) at plus-money, while TIE/MEXICO (+320) – HALFTIME/FULLTIME prop is also a very strong play for an opportunity to triple up your initial wager.

It might be a consolation game, but have fun in the undercard match to USA/Canada later Sunday evening.

CONCACAF semifinal: USMNT vs. Mexico odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s USMNT vs. Mexico odds and lines, with expert soccer picks, predictions and best bets.

In the CONCACAF Nations League semifinal, USMNT battles Mexico. Kickoff from Allegiant Stadium is set for 10 p.m. ET (Paramount+/CBS Sports Network). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the USMNT vs. Mexico odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

In a rivalry that spans decades, the winner of the USMNT and Mexico will take on the winner of the semifinal match between Panama and Canada.

The USMNT will have a stacked lineup with the expected debut of F Folarin Balogun. The USMNT hasn’t lost to Mexico in 5 games and is coming off an impressive World Cup run, losing to the Netherlands in the knockout stage. Chelsea F Christian Pulisic will be available. The USMNT drew Mexico 1-1 in a friendly on April 23. It went 3-0-1 (1 draw) in the CONCACAF Nations League group stage.

Mexico drew Jamaica twice and took down Suriname 3-0 and 2-0 in its group stage battles. It also made the World Cup, but didn’t make it out of the group stage, drawing Poland and losing to Argentina. It is 2-0-3 in its 5 games throughout 2023. Mexico is also bringing some experience with M Edson Alvarez and F Uriel Antuna, both of which have 40-plus caps.

USMNT vs. Mexico picks and predictions

Prediction

USMNT 1, Mexico 0

Moneyline (ML)

BET USMNT (+110).

The USMNT might not have a permanent coach yet, but this is a group that was challenged as a unit at the World Cup and performed well.

It will also add rising talent like Balogun. The United States has won 3 of the last 5 matches between these 2 sides, and it has won 3 of the last 4 on its own turf. Mexico didn’t quite perform as well during the CONCACAF Nations League group stage nor during the World Cup.

Those struggles while being on the road lead to the away team not being a great play. Take USMNT (+110).

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (-165).

The last 4 straight matches between these teams went Under this total, and Mexico will still have experienced GK Guillermo Ochoa between the posts.

The USMNT might have attacking talent, but it has gone Under in 3 of 5 matches in 2023 so far. It went Under in 3 of 4 World Cup games as well.

At high-level competitions, goals are more challenging to come by. Mexico went Under this in 2 of 3 World Cup games and 3 of 5 games in 2023. Considering it all, back the UNDER 2.5 (-165).

Mexico at USA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Mexico at USA odds and lines, with expert USMNT picks, predictions and best bets.

The United States Men’s National Soccer Team welcomes Mexico to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., Wednesday for an international friendly. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET and can be watched nationally on TBS. Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mexico vs. USA odds, and make our best expert soccer picks and predictions.

This will be the USMNT’s 5th game since a thrilling World Cup run. In the previous 4 matches, the U.S. has drawn Columbia, lost to Serbia and defeated El Salvador and Grenada.

As for this matchup, it will be the inaugural Allstate Continental Clasico. While the USA will have a slew of young, fresh talent, players like D Sergino Dest and D Walker Zimmerman will be at this camp.

Mexico didn’t get to the knockout stage in the World Cup, scoring 4 points in 3 games. Since then, it has tied Jamaica 2-2 and beaten Suriname 2-0, both matches as part of the CONCACAF Nations League.

Mexico at USA picks and predictions

Prediction

USA 1, Mexico 0

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN USA (+165).

USA, behind Dest, Zimmerman and several others, will have more experience on the pitch.

Mexico is bringing 2 forwards, neither of which have had a cap with the national team. Its 3 goalkeepers combine for just 5 caps as well, so inexperience is a very serious concern.

The USMNT has also won 3 of the last 4 matches between the 2 sides and has won the last 3 in a row in the United States. Considering its experience and recent success, back USA (+165).

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (-165).

All the experience for both teams comes from the backline. D Jesus Gallardo has 82 caps and D Nestor Araujo has 64. That will be the most experienced group for the road side, as it will be for the home side.

Couple that with this total having gone Under in 3 straight matches and in 6 of the last 8, take the UNDER 2.5 (-165) despite the juice.

Mexico vs. USA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Mexico vs. USA odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

On Thursday, USA (6 wins, 2 losses, 3 draws) visits Estadio Azteca in Mexico City to take on Mexico (6-2-3) in the final round of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Mexico vs. USA odds and lines, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Both teams are in a good position to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

While each has totaled 21 points and sit second (USA has a leg up on goal differential) in CONCACAF behind Canada, they’ve managed those in different ways.

The USA has scored 16 and allowed 7 while Mexico has scored 14 and allowed 8. The result has been a tie the last two times these national teams met in Mexico, with a 1-1 draw in 2017 and 0-0 clean slate in 2013.

The United States beat Mexico 2-0 in their first battle Nov. 12. That game was played at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. USA had 18 shots with 5 on target and 49% possession while Mexico totaled 8 shots, 4 on target and 51% possession.

Prediction

Mexico 1, USMNT 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN to the DRAW (+220).

The USMNT is going to be bringing its A team to hopefully seal up its bid for the World Cup. However, while it did bring F Christian Pulisic, key M Weston McKennie will be out with injury.

With a game against Panama on March 27 and then Costa Rica on the 30th, I’m not sold that coach Gregg Berhalter is going to force his best lineup into playing a full 90 minutes.

Mexico, on the other hand, rarely gets the United States at home, so I expect its top team to take the pitch.

However, Mexico has yet to beat either the USA or Canada in World Cup Qualifying, so taking it at -107 could allow for unneeded risk given the reward.

I’d play the DRAW (+220) given both the last results in Mexico have that way.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN to the UNDER 2.5 (-180).

There isn’t a best bet in this game, and it’s solely because of the value on this total.

Mexico’s last two WC qualifying games, and four of its last six games, have gone under 2.5 goals.

It’s not like the United States has had goal-heavy games either as five of its last six have also gone under 2.5 goals.

As for the rivalry, its last four Gold Cup or WC Qualifying matches have gone under 2.5 goals and the last two times the USA has traveled to Mexico the results have been both a draw and under 2.5 goals.

I’ll take the UNDER 2.5 (-180) given that the absence of McKennie could limit USMNT’s ability to transition, although it’s just for a lean given the price you have to pay for it.
