Chiefs’ blocked FG gets ArtButMakeItSports treatment on Twitter

ArtButMakeItSports found an amazing piece of art that looked eerily similar to a photograph of the #Chiefs’ blocked FG against the #Broncos.

The Kansas City Chiefs remained undefeated in spectacular fashion on Sunday by securing a victory over the Denver Broncos with a last-second blocked field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter.

Fans won’t soon forget the AFC West showdown’s amazing finish at Arrowhead Stadium, and as Kansas City keeps its perfect season intact for another week, the hype behind the Chiefs’ attempt at a Super Bowl three-peat is reaching a fever pitch.

One popular social media account that goes by the name ArtButMakeItSports regularly shares pieces of art that share similarities with pictures from the sports world.

A photograph of Kansas City’s outstanding blocked field goal got the full treatment from ArtButMakeItSports on Twitter after the final whistle blew at Arrowhead Stadium:

Though this comparison may be a bit abstract, fans on social media seemed to agree with ArtButMakeItSports’ opinion and were thrilled to see the Chiefs’ classic moment represented in Georges Mathieu’s outstanding work.

Pat Surtain teases Riley Moss with funny white cornerback meme

“A lot of people were questioning what the white cornerback was going to do, but he’s definitely making history,” PS2 said of Riley Moss.

Denver Broncos second-year cornerback Riley Moss has emerged as a key member of the team’s defense this season and he grabbed his first career interception against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

“[H]e’s consistent each and every week and he prepares the right way and eventually he was going to make a play like that, and I’m very happy for him,” star cornerback Pat Surtain said of Moss after Sunday’s 34-18 win.

“It’s crazy because a lot of people were questioning what the white cornerback was going to do, but he’s definitely making history. It’s good to see him out there making plays and doing what he’s doing so I’m very proud of him.”

Moss is the first white cornerback to start regularly in the NFL since Jason Sehorn in the late 1990s and early 2000s. That has led to teasing from even his own teammates, but it’s all been good-natured.

“He for sure can jump, by the way,” Surtain said during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday. “I know that’s the reference going around, but he for sure can jump.”

Surtain, of course, was referencing the 1992 comedy “White Men Can’t Jump.” Broncos fans turned the cover of that film into a meme featuring Surtain and Moss, and the cornerback re-shared the meme on Monday:

The teasing won’t stop from fans or pundits anytime soon.

Moss, 24, now has four pass breakups, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery through his first five starts in the NFL. He can jump, and he’s quickly emerging as one of the league’s top young corners.

Pat Surtain reacts to funny meme featuring himself and Riley Moss

Pat Surtain loved it 🤣🤣🤣

Riley Moss is set to start for the Denver Broncos against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, making him the NFL’s only white starting cornerback. He will line up across from star cornerback Pat Surtain.

Ahead of the first start of Moss’ career, @Mr_Boggins on Twitter/X created a funny meme, repurposing a photo from the film “White Men Can’t Jump” by adding in Surtain and Moss.

Surtain loved it:

As for Moss, he knows he will be tested on Sunday, and he’s ready for it.

Sunday’s game between the Broncos and Seahawks will be regionally televised on CBS and available to stream on fuboTV (try it free). Denver is considered a 5.5-point underdog on the road.

The ‘nobody will remember’ memes about your salary, how busy you were are back and they are very, very funny

This meme is so funny.

Certain memes will be remembered from the summer of 2024, including the “very demure, very mindful” TikTok trend, but I’m throwing in a vote for a new one that popped up in August.

Well, here’s the thing: as Know Your Meme pointed out, this was a trend that popped back in 2022. But, whatever, it’s August, we’re all sitting around waiting for football to start, so we’ll count this as a trend now, too.

It’s simple: You start with a thing about how no one will remember your salary, how busy you were and how many hours you worked. But then you fill in how people will remember … all kinds of wacky stuff.

Washington State memes Chiefs’ selection of DB Jaden Hicks

Washington State memed the Kansas City #Chiefs’ selection of defensive back Jaden Hicks in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft.

The seriousness of the NFL Draft in all 32 war rooms is evident from the many cameras peeking into boards crowded with names strategizing for the future. The Kansas City Chiefs front office brass led by general manager Brett Veach is serious about all of their selections, including defensive back Jaden Hicks.

Kansas City selected Hicks 133rd overall in the fourth round, and the Washington State standout joins a prime defense that already features another Cougar. Hicks joins Jaylen Watson in the Chiefs defense after being selected in the 2022 draft creating a Washington State-themed secondary that couldn’t go unnoticed by the school’s social media team.

On their WSUCougarFB X account dedicated to the Washington State football team, they posted a photo from a scene of the classic television comedy ‘The Office’ featuring Watson and Hicks photoshopped front and center.

Watson has become a consistent option in Steve Spagnuolo’s game plan and a significant contributor to two Super Bowl titles. Veach is hoping for the same impact and production from his fellow Cougars alum, Hicks, in 2024.

The Lil Yachty walkout meme using AI that’s taking over the sports world, explained

The Lil Yachty walkout meme video is EVERYWHERE.

You may have seen the meme that’s going around showing someone — whether it’s the Joker or New York Knick head coach Tom Thibodeau and so on — coming out from backstage to a giant crowd of concert goers before igniting them with a fiery performance.

Wondering where it’s from? I did, and I figured it out!

It’s a video of Lil Yachty walking out on to a long stage and going OFF, and it’s amazing to watch the crowd react.

People are now using AI to put those aforementioned stars in the video, and it’s become a whole meme.

Here’s the original:

Social media gives Mike Tomlin leaving the podium the meme treatment

Social media had a field day with the video of Mike Tomlin leaving the podium after Monday’s loss.

After Monday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin did his best to hold a somewhat cogent press conference. But with very little to say about what went wrong, he was asked about having one year left on his contract, to which he stared blankly and walked away. Here is what social media has to say about it.

Tom Crean’s frowny face in the stands of brother-in-law Jim Harbaugh’s national title game turned into a meme

Hey look, a new Tom Crean meme!

Veteran college basketball coach Tom Crean showed up to support his brother-in-law Jim Harbaugh as his Michigan Wolverines played in Monday night’s College Football Playoff national championship game.

However, he didn’t look too thrilled to be there.

The ESPN game camera caught a very bored, frowning Crean in the stands watching Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines play the Washington Huskies.

Crean is married to Joani Harbaugh, who he met at Western Kentucky while he was an assistant basketball coach and Jack Harbaugh, Joani’s father, was WKU’s head football coach.

Now, Crean is waiting for his next hoops opportunity while Jim Harbaugh coaches Michigan in the national title and his brother John Harbaugh preps the Baltimore Ravens for a Super Bowl run.

They say a photo tells a thousand words, and this one sure does.

While Crean might just be daydreaming about anything else than the game going on the field, it’s hard not to think he’s got dreams of coaching in a Final Four game sometime soon once he gets back into coaching.

Perhaps the Harbaugh family will turn out in full force for that game. For now, it’ll be Crean in the stands to watch his brother-in-laws succeed.

Naturally, the internet turned this reaction into a meme.

A Michigan fan mocking Ohio State mid-game became an instant meme

This Michigan fan instantly became a meme.

There’s no shortage of trash-talking and taunting during rivalry games, and, of course, Saturday’s Michigan-Ohio State game was no exception. And this Michigan fan seemingly taunting the Buckeyes in Ann Arbor became an instant internet meme.

While referees were delivering Michigan a favorable spot at midfield early in the game, Fox Sports cameras captured one Wolverines fan holding up his fingers and gesturing as if to say teasingly, “Oh, so close.” (We think, anyway.)

Regardless of what message this Michigan fan was trying to convey, college football fans did what they do best and turned it into a funny meme.

The results are pretty inspired.

As you can imagine, college football fans got very creative with the memes for this one.

Unless you’re a disgruntled Ohio State fan, you’ll want to check these out.

‘Undertaker ref’ is the first hilarious meme of the 2023 NFL season

He popped up just like The Undertaker.

Hey, remember that meme you might have seen everywhere? The GIF of WWE legend The Undertaker waking up from laying down on the canvas and looking menacing?

Well, we got the NFL ref version on Sunday in Week 1 of the 2023 season. Thanks to a reckless Kyzir White hit on Sam Howell on the sidelines in the Washington Commanders’ win over the Arizona Cardinals, a referee on the sidelines got nailed too.

But then, like The Undertaker, he popped up from the ground … and threw a flag. It was perfect. Glad he was OK, too, of course.

It became an instant meme, naturally. Take a look and we’ll compare to the original GIF:
