Bucs TE Rob Gronkowski took to Instagram to solicit help from fans to caption a photo of him and LeSean McCoy.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added another talented veteran to their roster this week by inking running back LeSean McCoy.

At 32, McCoy’s best days may be behind him, but according to him he still has gas in the tank and a desire to win.

Yesterday, the new Buccaneer hit the field with his teammates, including tight end Rob Gronkowski, who welcomed McCoy to the team by holding a caption contest on Instagram for the below picture.

And, as expected, fans came up with some hilarious responses.

Take a look.

The Buccaneers added veteran running back LeSean McCoy to their roster this week, officially signing the recent Super Bowl champion to a one-year deal.

McCoy will provide much-needed experience in the Bucs’ young backfield, and working alongside a guy like Tom Brady should help keep his fire going.

RB LeSean McCoy is officially a Buccaneer, and Tom Brady seems happy

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have officially signed running back LeSean McCoy to a one-year deal.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will soon have a new player at training camp, as the team has officially signed veteran running back LeSean McCoy to a one-year deal.

McCoy, fresh off a Super Bowl win with the Kansas City Chiefs, will provide some much-needed depth and experience to a young Bucs backfield. Right now, Ronald Jones is the incumbent back, with third-round pick Ke’Shawn Vaughn expected to contribute in the passing game.

Here’s a look at McCoy signing his contract with Tampa Bay.

Bucs signing RB LeSean McCoy is a win-win situation

Tampa Bay’s signing of veteran running back LeSean McCoy could prove helpful for this young Buccaneers backfield.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a loaded offense thank in large part to their depth at wide receiver and tight end. The Bucs, and new quarterback Tom Brady, will have Mike Evans and Chris Godwin stretching the field while tight ends Rob Gronkowski, O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate are there to provide Brady additional air support.

But the backfield has been a major question mark for this team, even after the drafting of Ke’Shawn Vaughn in the third-round of April’s NFL draft. The rookie landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, so is already at a disadvantage as camp has begun.

Perhaps that’s why the Bucs thought adding a veteran like LeSean McCoy would be a good idea.

McCoy, who just turned 32, is fresh off a Super Bowl win with the Kansas City Chiefs, and said last week he’d been talking to a few teams but was waiting for the right fit. Apparently, he’s found that in Tampa.

While McCoy’s best days are likely behind him, his experience can’t be overlooked, especially when it comes to mentoring and challenging the young Bucs backs. For Vaughn, when he does make it to camp, working alongside McCoy can only help in his development into the pass-catching back the Bucs envisioned when they drafted him. McCoy hasn’t just been a threat as a runner. He’s given opposing defenses nightmares with his ability to catch out of the backfield, too. His best receiving season came in 2010, when he caught a career-high 78 passes for 592 yards and two scores. He’s even had a catch and run for 70 yards!

McCoy still has something left in the tank, and best of all, he won’t be looked upon to carry this offense like he was in Buffalo and Philadelphia. Working in this Bucs offense looks like a win-win for both the team and McCoy.

Gerald McCoy felt better sacking Jameis Winston than ‘any other quarterback’

Former Bucs DT Gerald McCoy said in a recent Instagram video that he enjoyed sacking former teammate Jameis Winston.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers said goodbye to Jameis Winston this offseason after the quarterback’s five-year run with the team. Winston leaves the Bucs as the franchise’s all-time leader in both touchdown passes (121) and passing yards (19,737).

It’s the second offseason in a row the Bucs have bid farewell to a franchise player. Last season, they parted ways with defensive tackle Gerald McCoy after nine years, opting instead to bring in the guy selected one spot ahead of McCoy in the 2010 NFL draft, Ndamukong Suh.

McCoy ended up in Carolina with the Panthers, and despite his team losing to the Bucs in Week 2, McCoy got the last laugh in their Week 6 rematch in London. In that game, Winston threw five interceptions, was sacked seven times and fumbled twice (losing one). McCoy had 2.5 sacks in that game, and apparently enjoyed sacking Jameis more than any other QB.

Take a look at this video McCoy recently posted to his Instagram, where he talks about joining the Cowboys and playing against his former team, the Bucs. You can hear McCoy talk about Winston around the 1:00 mark of the video.

Don’t worry, McCoy has plenty of love for Winston still. Winston, along with several other Bucs players, attended the Senior Night of McCoy’s son last fall in Tampa in place of McCoy, who was in Carolina at the time.

Gerald McCoy sends best wishes to ‘future stars of the NFL’ ahead of the draft

Former Bucs DT Gerald McCoy took to Instagram today to post a video and send best wishes to players ahead of Thursday’s NFL draft.

Gerald McCoy is now a member of the Dallas Cowboys, after spending last season in Carolina with the Panthers. Before that, however, he spent the first nine years of his career as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Bucs selected McCoy out of Oklahoma with the third pick in the 2010 NFL draft, and he was a staple for the franchise for nearly a decade. While McCoy won’t be a part of the revamped Tom Brady-led Bucs, he’ll always be thought of first and foremost as a Buccaneer.

McCoy took to Instagram today to post a video of his draft moment back in 2010, while sending blessings to all the future stars of the NFL ahead of Thursday’s virtual draft.

Fun fact: The player selected ahead of McCoy in 2010 was current Bucs DT Ndamukong Suh, who went second overall to the Detroit Lions.
