UFC Fight Night 195: Manon Fiorot vs. Mayra Bueno Silva odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 195 odds and lines between Manon Fiorot vs. Mayra Bueno Silva, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a women’s flyweight bout on the main card, Manon Fiorot meets Mayra Bueno Silva Saturday at UFC Fight Night 195 – also known as UFC Vegas 40 and UFC on ESPN+ 53 – at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the UFC Fight Night 195 Fiorot vs. Bueno Silva odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The card can be viewed on ESPN+ with the prelims at 4:30 p.m. ET and the main card at 7 p.m. ET.

Fiorot is a perfect 2-0 since making her UFC debut, winning both fights via KO/TKO in Round 2. She last fought June 5 against Tabitha Ricci and has won seven straight professional fights dating back to June 2018 when she suffered a split-decision loss at CW 94 in her pro debut.

The Brazilian Bueno Silva had a draw last time out Feb. 27 against Montana De La Rosa on the Rozenstruik-Gane card. She has gone the distance in two of her last three outings, going 1-1-1.

UFC Fight Night 195 Fiorot vs. Bueno Silva: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Fiorot (7-1-0) | Bueno Silva (7-1-1)

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

FIOROT (-280) is a little on the expensive side, but she is a handful. Bueno Silva is going to be on the receiving end, as Fiorot has managed 8.00 significant strikes landed per minute. While she has a slight reach disadvantage of 1.5 inches, she should be able to overcome that.

You can chop down the risk of taking such a moderate favorite by tossing Fiorot into a parlay of three or more fighters.

Over/Under (O/U)

I think Fiorot gets the finish, as she has six KO/TKO victories in eight professional fights, including both of her bouts at the UFC level. As such, play UNDER 2.5 ROUNDS (+110) for the win.

UFC 266 loses Manon Fiorot vs. Mayra Bueno Silva due to positive COVID-19 tests

UFC 266 is down to 13 fights after a women’s flyweight fight was scratched from the lineup due to COVID-19.

The women’s flyweight fight between [autotag]Manon Fiorot[/autotag] and [autotag]Mayra Bueno Silva[/autotag] will no longer happen as part of Saturday’s card. The bout was canceled Wednesday after Fiorot (who is asymptomatic) and her team tested positive for COVID-19.

A person with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie of the cancellation after an initial report by ESPN Deportes. The person, who asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement, added the matchup is expected to remain intact and be rescheduled for the promotion’s Oct. 16 event in Las Vegas.

France’s Fiorot (7-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has dominated thus far in her promotional stint, as she’s notched two second-round knockouts through as many UFC appearances. Meanwhile, Bueno Silva (7-1-1 MMA, 1-1-1 UFC) has accumulated mixed results thus far in her UFC tenure with one win, one loss, and one draw.

UFC on ESPN 23: Mayra Bueno Silva out of Poliana Botelho fight due to back injury

Poliana Botelho will be in search for an opponent yet again after Mayra Bueno Silva withdrew from UFC on ESPN 23.

[autotag]Poliana Botelho[/autotag] will be in search for an opponent yet again.

After Ji Yeon Kim withdrew from their bout at UFC on ESPN 23 on May 1, Botelho (8-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) drew fellow Brazilian [autotag]Mayra Bueno Silva[/autotag] (7-1-1 MMA, 2-1-1 UFC). But a back injury has forced Silva out of their fight and Botelho is still hoping to remain on the card.

MMA Junkie confirmed the news after an initial post from Botelho on her Instagram.

Botelho has split her past four appearances. In her return to flyweight, Botelho defeated Lauren Mueller at UFC 236, then dropped a unanimous decision to Gillian Robertson in October. Silva was looking for a quick turnaround after battling to a majority draw with Montana De La Rosa at UFC Fight Night 186 in February.

With the change, the May 1 lineup now includes:

  • Jiri Prochazka vs. Dominick Reyes
  • TJ Brown vs. Kai Kamaka III
  • Dean Barry vs. Mike Jackson
  • Poliana Botelho vs. TBA
  • K.B. Bhullar vs. Andreas Michailidis
  • Damon Jackson vs. TJ Laramie
  • Sam Hughes vs. Loma Lookboonmee
  • Shamil Abdurakhimov vs. Augusto Sakai
  • Krzysztof Jotko vs. Sean Strickland
  • Giga Chikadze vs. Cub Swanson
  • Gabriel Benitez vs. Jonathan Pearce
  • Felipe Colares vs. Journey Newson
  • Merab Dvalishvili vs. Cody Stamann

UFC Fight Night 186 post-event facts: Ciryl Gane, Magomed Ankalaev extend streaks

Check out all the facts and figures from UFC Fight Night 186, which saw Ciryl Gane beat Jairzinho Rozenstruik in Las Vegas.

The UFC’s final event of February took place Saturday with UFC Fight Night 186 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

The heavyweight main event saw [autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag] (8-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) continue to flourish as a potential future title challenger when he outpointed [autotag]Jairzinho Rozenstruik[/autotag] (11-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) to a unanimous decision.

For more on the numbers to come out of the card, check below for 30 post-event facts to come out of UFC Fight Night 186.

Fair or foul? Fence grab costs Mayra Bueno Silva win at UFC Fight Night 186

One judge also issued a bizarre Round 3 score in the fight between Mayra Bueno Silva and Montana De La Rosa.

[autotag]Mayra Bueno Silva[/autotag] would’ve defeated [autotag]Montana De La Rosa[/autotag] at UFC Fight Night 186 if not for a referee’s decision to deduct a point.

Silva mostly dominated Saturday night’s women’s flyweight bout, but it was a fence grab that cost her the victory and instead led to a majority draw at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

In Round 1, with De La Rosa working in the clinch against the cage, she attempted to transition for a takedown. Just as she was starting to drag her opponent down, Silva grabbed the fence to keep herself up.

Referee Jerin Valel saw it and immediately stepped in to call time. When he addressed Silva, he told her “it prevented the takedown” in reference to the fence grab. As a result, Valel chose to deduct a point.

Did it warrant a point deduction, or should it have just been a warning and a restart? FWIW, this writer thought it was egregious enough to dock a point. It’s worth noting that Silva didn’t bother to argue.

That made all the difference as, on all three scorecards, the judges scored the first round 9-9. The majority draw was the result of scores of 28-28 twice and 28-27 in favor of Silva. With that extra point, Silva wins a unanimous decision.

All three judges, as well as MMA Junkie’s John Morgan, scored a close Round 2 for De La Rosa. As for Round 3, well, we’re not entirely sure what judge Eric Colon was watching. All three scored it for Silva, but he was the only judge to award Silva a 10-8.

Nothing about Round 3 warranted a 10-8 – nothing.

But in the end, the only difference it would’ve made was a unanimous draw rather than a majority draw. No harm, no foul, but bizarre to say the least.

The Blue Corner is MMA Junkie’s blog space. We don’t take it overly serious, and neither should you. If you come complaining to us that something you read here is not hard-hitting news, expect to have the previous sentence repeated in ALL CAPS.

(This story was updated at 3 p.m. ET on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, to reflect the addition of Angela Hill vs. Ashley Yoder to the main card.)

The UFC has a big heavyweight fight in the headlining spot for the second straight week.

UFC Fight Night 186 takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The event streams on ESPN+.

(Click here to open a PDF of the staff picks grid in a separate window.)

In the main event, [autotag]Jairzinho Rozenstruik[/autotag] (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) takes on the unbeaten [autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag] (7-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC). The winner is expected to stay in the hunt for a title shot. Gane is the third biggest favorite on the card at -250 at BetMGM, but he’s only got an 8-5 picks lead from our 13 editors, writers, videographers and radio hosts.

In the co-feature, [autotag]Magomed Ankalaev[/autotag] (14-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) is a prohibitive -350 favorite at light heavyweight against [autotag]Nikita Krylov[/autotag] (27-7 MMA, 8-5 UFC), and Ankalaev is our lone unanimous pick on the main card.

It’s a close fight from a betting perspective between [autotag]Montana De La Rosa[/autotag] (11-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and [autotag]Mayra Bueno Silva[/autotag] (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at women’s flyweight. Silva is a slight favorite at -145, and she’s got an 8-5 lead in the picks.

It’s not unanimous, but 4-1 favorite [autotag]Angela Hill[/autotag] (12-9 MMA, 7-9 UFC) has a big picks lead over [autotag]Ashley Yoder[/autotag] (8-6 MMA, 3-6 UFC) in their women’s strawweight fight. Hill is the choice of all but one of our staff members.

And to open the main card, [autotag]Alex Caceres[/autotag] (17-12 MMA, 12-10 UFC) meets [autotag]Kevin Croom[/autotag] (21-12 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in a featherweight fight. Caceres is a 2-1 favorite and has a big 11-2 lead in our picks.

In the MMA Junkie reader consensus picks, Gane (63 percent), Ankalaev (81 percent), Silva (52 percent), Munhoz (57 percent) and Caceres (72 percent) are the choices.

Three main card fighters and one prelim fighter are facing lengthy suspensions.

Former UFC welterweight champion [autotag]Tyron Woodley[/autotag] is among four fighters facing potential 180-day medical suspensions as a result of damage sustained at UFC on ESPN+ 36 on Saturday.

Woodley suffered a rib injury in the fifth round of his main event fight against [autotag]Colby Covington[/autotag], which resulted in a TKO. Monday, Woodley revealed his ribs were broken earlier in the fight and shifted on a fifth-round guillotine choke submission attempt, which led to the finish.

On Tuesday, MMA Junkie obtained the full list of suspensions from MixedMartialArts.com, the Association of Boxing Commissions’ official record keeper.

Joining Woodley on the list of UFC on ESPN+ 36 fighters facing potential six-month suspensions is co-headliner [autotag]Niko Price[/autotag], who fought to a draw with [autotag]Donald Cerrone[/autotag]. Price may have suffered a serious injury to his right hand, according to the medical records.

[autotag]Randa Markos[/autotag], who was submitted by [autotag]Mackenzie Dern[/autotag] via armbar in the first round of their main card fight, injured her elbow and will need clearance to compete before her 180-day term is up.
