Top class of 2025 linebacker set for official visit with Wisconsin

Four-star linebacker set for official visit with Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Badgers football team will host four-star class of 2025 linebacker Mason Posa for an official visit this weekend. The Albuquerque, New Mexico, native has narrowed his final three programs list to Oregon, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.

Posa is ranked as the best player in the state of New Mexico by 247Sports, while the website has him listed as their 18th-best linebacker and as the No. 154 player nationally.

So far in the class of 2025, Luke Fickell and his staff have reeled in three linebackers, all of which are three-star athletes. Cooper Catalano (Germantown, WI), Brenden Anes (Franklin, TN) and Samuel Lateju (Lawrenceville, NJ) have already committed to Wisconsin.

An interesting angle to the recruitment of Mason Posa is the fact that Wisconsin is competing with new Big Ten foe Oregon. If the Badgers can gain his commitment, the linebacker would become the program’s first four-star addition to their class of 2025.

4-star LB Mason Posa puts Oregon football among top schools

The Oregon Ducks landed among the stop schools for 4-star linebacker Mason Posa, the No. 1 player from New Mexico.

We saw Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks land an elite group of linebackers in the 2024 recruiting class, and they look to be trying to do it once again.

One of the names that Oregon is after is Mason Posa, the No. 1 ranked player from the state of New Mexico.

Posa stands at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, and is rated by 247 Sports as the No. 154 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 18 LB. He announced his top three schools on Wednesday, putting the Ducks alongside the likes of the Wisconsin Badgers and Texas A&M Aggies.

Posa took a visit to Oregon earlier this year, and will likely return at some point this summer for an official visit.

Posa is 247Sports’ No. 154 player in the class of 2025, No. 18 linebacker and No. 1 recruit from his home state of New Mexico. The top linebacker has official visits scheduled to Wisconsin on May 31, Oregon on June 7 and Texas A&M on June 14.

Posa is part of a sizable group of top prospects the Badgers will get a first shot at during their official visits this weekend. He is the highest-ranked player on the program’s visit sheet and will be one of its biggest priorities.

247Sports has yet to log a crystal ball prediction for his landing spot.

Wisconsin begins a crucial month of official visits this weekend, May 31-June 2. Top prospects Posa, four-star edge Jayden Woods and four-star cornerback Mason Alexander are part of that group.

The Badgers’ class of 2025 currently ranks No. 19 in the nation with 11 players committed. That number is sure to rise as visits continue throughout June.
