  • Money line: Maryland +300 (bet $100 to win $300) | Indiana -385 (bet $385 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Maryland +10.5 (-106) | Indiana -10.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 62.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Maryland at Indiana: Three things to know

  1. Maryland’s game against Michigan State last week was canceled due to a COVID outbreak. The last game the Terrapins played was 35-19 win at Penn State on Nov. 7.
  2. Indiana went into the “Horseshoe” and gave No. 3 Ohio State all it could handle last week. The Hoosiers fought back from a 35-7 early second-half deficit to get within a single-possession in what was a 42-35 loss. QB Michael Penix Jr. completed 27 of 51 passes for 491 yards and 5 touchdowns with 1 pick.
  3. The Hoosiers have beaten the Terrapins in back-to-back meetings and have a 4-2 record (3-3 ATS) against them since Maryland joined the Big Ten in 2014.

Maryland at Indiana: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Maryland 37, Indiana 31

Money line (ML)

Maryland-Indiana opened up with the Hoosiers being +425 money line favorites and it’s been moved all the way down to its current number. The line movement is puzzling though because 91% of the money and 81% of the bets placed are on Indiana, yet they are getting cheaper, according to Pregame.com.

The House is saying they’d prefer Indiana bets over Maryland bets. We are going to apply this logic even heavier in the ATS section, however, I lean MARYLAND +300 for a quarter-unit.

Against the spread (ATS)

We made a small play on the underdogs because we love them to cover the spread. Again, this line is moving in the opposite direction of how it’s being bet and we cannot ignore that. The Hoosiers are getting 75% of the bets placed, but Indiana went from a 14-point favorite to the current price.

Also, the Hoosiers played a highly emotional game on the road against Ohio State last week and could come out flat. Indiana is eighth in havoc created, but I really like Maryland’s chances of its rushing attack working.

The Terrapins lead the Big Ten in yards per rush and the offensive line is ninth in the nation in line yards per carry, 10th in opportunity rate and 15th in stuff rate, according to Football Outsiders. The Hoosiers are 16th in sack rate, but their defensive line is 116th in line yards per carry, 112th in opportunity rate and 117th in stuff rate.

More importantly, the Hoosiers don’t have the ground game to put away games: Indiana is 123rd in yards per rush and 121st in rushing yards per game. The front and back doors are open for the Terrapins.

GIMME MARYLAND +10.5 (-106) for 1.5 units.

Over/Under (O/U)

Indiana games have gone Over the total in four of five and the Over is 5-0 in the last 5 Maryland-Indiana games. If Maryland’s offense can have success it’ll force Penix and his awesome WR corp to play a little catch-up.

Furthermore, Maryland’s offense was trending up before the 3-week hiatus and its defense is 98th in opponent’s points per game. Take OVER 62.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

The Maryland Terrapins (1-1 overall, 1-1 Big Ten) pay a visit to Beaver Stadium to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions (0-2, 0-2) Saturday. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET. We analyze the Maryland-Penn State college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Maryland at Penn State: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 2 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Maryland +900 (bet $100 to win $900) | Penn State -1667 (bet $1667 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Maryland +25 (-115) | Penn State -25 (-106)
  • Over/Under: 64.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Maryland at Penn State: Three things to know

  1. Maryland defeated Penn State in the first Big Ten meeting between the two schools in 2014. Since then, the Nittany Lions have gone 5-0 straight up (4-1 against the spread) against the Terrapins, and the last few meetings haven’t been even remotely close. PSU downed the Terps 59-0 last year, and the Lions have outscored their neighbors to the southeast, 163-6, over the last three games in the series (2017-19).
  2. The Terrapins are coming off a 45-44 overtime win over Minnesota. Maryland overcame 10 penalties (97 yards) and a minus-2 in turnover margin to register its first Big Ten win since Oct. 5, 2019 (a stretch of nine games). The Terps managed to score 38 points in regulation despite not scoring over the middle two frames in the contest. Maryland had averaged just 12.4 points per game over its eight-game conference skid.
  3. Penn State will be looking to get its scuffling ground game on track against a UM defense that has been gashed for 293.5 rushing yards per game (113th FBS) through two weeks of action. PSU was held to 1.6 yards per carry in the team’s 38-25 loss to Ohio State last week. The Lions had logged 250 yards the week before against Indiana and over their last four games against the Terps have averaged a robust 292.3 per contest.

Maryland at Penn State: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Penn State 45, Maryland 17

Money line (ML)

Penn State gave a solid showing last week against a top-3 Ohio State team. The Lions put together three 75-yard touchdown drives in the game, and they were within one score (21-13) of the Buckeyes mid-way through the third quarter. In its overtime loss against Indiana the week before, PSU outgained the Hoosiers, 488-211. The Lions were somewhat undone by 10 penalties (100 yards) and by three IU regulation scoring drives under 45 yards.

A side this lopsided usually gets dismissed in the money line arena, but the -1667 tag is fair.

Against the spread (ATS)

There is value on the home side — an angry 0-2 tweam with a big talent advantage — up to 26 points. BACK THE NITTANY LIONS -25 (-106).

Over/Under (O/U)

Recent Beaver Stadium games with PSU favored by multiple scores have trended toward the UNDER 64.5 (-110), and THAT’S THE SOLID LEAN with two teams not proficient in punching through for six in the red zone.

Minnesota at Maryland odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Minnesota Golden Gophers at Maryland Terrapins sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers (0-1 overall, 0-1 Big Ten) visit the Maryland Terrapins (0-1, 0-1) Friday at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Minnesota-Maryland college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Minnesota at Maryland: Betting odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Minnesota -910 (bet $910 to win $100) | Maryland +590 (bet $100 to win $590)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Minnesota -19.5 (-106) | Maryland +19.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 61.5 (O: -106 | U: -115)

Minnesota at Maryland: Three things to know

  1. The Gophers lost their season opener to the Michigan Wolverines 49-24 last Saturday. QB Tanner Morgan completed 18-of-31 passes for 197 yards with a touchdown and one interception for Minnesota, which was a 3-point underdog. His top target was Rashod Bateman (101 yards, 9 catches), while RB Mohamed Ibrahim led the ground attack with 140 yards and two TDs on 26 carries. Meanwhile, the defense gave up 481 yards – 256 rushing and 225 passing. Minnesota fell out of the Amway Coaches Poll (powered by USA TODAY Sports) after being ranked No. 21.
  2. Maryland, a 13.5-point underdog, suffered a much uglier loss in its opener, getting smoked 43-3 at Northwestern. Like the Gophers, the Terrapins also scored first – they kicked a 33-yard field goal to cap an opening, 12-play drive. The Terps defense couldn’t stop the Wildcats offense, which scored TDs on its next two possessions and eventually built a 30-3 halftime lead. Maryland allowed Northwestern to rack up 537 total yards, including 325 on the ground. The Terrapins were held to 207 total yards and just 14 first downs. QB Taulia Tagovailoa (yes, the younger brother of Tua) had a rough first career start, throwing three interceptions and completing 14 of 25 pass attempts for 94 yards.
  3. Minnesota dominated Maryland in last year’s meeting, rolling to a 52-10 home victory. It was quite a turnaround from 2018 when the Terps won 42-13 on their home turf. Maryland, which joined the Big Ten in 2014, is 2-2 vs. Minnesota in conference games and leads the all-time series 3-2.

Minnesota at Maryland: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Minnesota 48, Maryland 23

Money line (ML)

AVOID. One would have to wager more than nine times their potential return on Minnesota (-910). That’s just not wise.

Against the spread (ATS)

MINNESOTA -19.5 (-106) is worth a small play – half your usual wager. The Gophers just ran into a good Michigan team last week. They have the talent and they’ll bounce back. This is a team that opened last season 9-0 before falling at Iowa and at home to Wisconsin. They would go on to beat Auburn 31-24 in the Outback Bowl.

The Terrapins, who haven’t had a winning season since 2014, are just bad. They finished 3-9 overall last season with a 1-9 Big Ten record.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 61.5 (-106) is the way to go. If it drops to 60, this becomes a STRONGEST PLAY – 1.5 times your usual wager. The Terrapins won’t be able to stop the Gophers, but they might score some junk points when the game gets of hand.
